We seek to open diplomatic ties between our nation and yours, for the benefit of both our peoples. We have had little contact with our Northern neighbors.

*Note: During the 1600s, Nepal was split into three semi-independent Kingdoms, those of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. Unless something changed due to ITL shenanigans.

Tibet has long lain at the edge of our Northern borders, yet it's peoples have been unknown to us. No trade has been conducted through the mountain passes, and no diplomatic communications have passed between the Imperial Throne and the Ganden Phodrang since the uniting of Tibet. We seek to change this.
BTW, @Theravis , @Havocfett , @Icarus , uh, who's in charge of the Asia NPCs?

Because I haven't gotten a reply for these diplomatic messages, and either the nations to my north are juuuuust giving me the cold shoulder, or we have a 'Bashe in Wuhan' situation.

Granted, it's unlikely NPC nations get a case of the Munchies and make all attempts at contact turn unpleasant, but you can never be too sure on this stuff. :V

Everyone. The State of Manchuria is hardly sinister in this context.

State of Manchuria.

Manchurian.

Manchurian Candidate.

It all makes sense now!!!!

Greta Krause was captured by the Japanese when the kitsune were eating the Swedish Resistance and she's been brainwashed into a sleeper agent and returned to the USE having been programmed to run for Senator and then Mina will trigger her and subvert democracy from the inside.

That plot was killed after last game. No mind control!

Active Division
Size: 20,000 Men, 500 Artillery (Division, 250mp)
Attached Units:
Engineering Battalion (12.5mp)
Medical Battalion (12.5mp)
Recon Battalion (12.5mp)
Sage Battalion (20mp)
AT Battalion (15mp)
AA Battalion (15mp)
Quality: Trained
Total Cost: 337.5
Quantity: 10 (3375mp, 10 Trained)

I'm confused here. Is this 10 divisions each with these attached units? That would be 8750 MP.

Or is it like, ten divisions of these, and then an attached group of battalions. For all 250,000.

...yeah, I guess it's out now, last game Hans Richter was a Dutch deep cover agent.

-----

Just as a linguistic note, it wouldn't be called "Manchukuo" -- the historical/regional name at the period is probably going to be Jianzhou (建州).

They're Reds! They were going to do it anyway!
*raises hand*

If Greta Krause is a Communist Candidate running to subvert Democracy, but also a sleeper agent by Kitsune to subvert democrcay from the inside.....
Was Mina communist all along? Has this been one big ploy to unite the Asian Proletariat under the Red... Rising... Sun......

:o

I... I have several questions.

Like, holy shit does this mean the entire Richterist movement is a Dutch Plot that went horribly out of control?

What does this mean about Victoria Richter? Is she a double double deep cover agent?

No?
1) Hans is retired. He doesn't want to deal with this shit.
2) Victoria went into politics to follow in her mother's footsteps.
3) Other game Hans was technically a replicant IIRC
4)Grechen started the movement.
5) I'm not allowing that sort of thing ever again.

I can understand that.

Okay, good, no Dutch Illuminati controlling the world.

Okay.

Oh, that clears up a lot.

And thank god for that.

Could you imagine what would happen if that kind of stuff was allowed?

Grechen founded the movement. Unfortunately, she also was fairly radical, given her childhood of 18 years of being a camp follower in the 30 years war. Nobody, including Grechen, knows who Victoria's father is.

Hans is Grechen's younger brother, and thus a mercenary vet.

10 divisions, each of which has 6 Battalions following it. Which means a Shun "Division" consists of 31,000 men when you include that battalions march with it as attached units.

So, as I am very much a fan of this world, though do not have the time to keep up consistently with one of the more major powers and the needs they have.

Might there be any peripheral nations that can be played for storyline/fun reasons only?

So, since there was some doomsaying going on in the Discord last night about the "Spexit" (sorrynotsorry) I wanted to take a moment to explain why I thought and still think I can do this without being instantly overthrown.

  1. I understand that everyone doesn't necessarily keep track of the internal situations of all of the other nations, but there has been a large undercurrent of anti-pope sentiment amongst the populace, with whom Charles II is also quite popular for the healthcare reform and keeping the peace.
  2. This didn't exactly come out of the blue. I've been making preparations last turn by replacing some of the more pro-pope high officials in the Spanish Church, and funding loads of anti-pope propaganda.
  3. All of my factions should be cool with this, or at least not angry to the point of rebellion. Unificadores are literally Catholophobes and the Colonialists should be happy about expanding Spain's power and the potential for military conflict, while Revanchistas and Peninsulares shouldn't have any specific beef with this and they're at Loyalty 4 and 5 anyway.
  4. Prior precedent. Platina converted away from Catholicism and has been literally calling for Larry's head for a while now, and they haven't imploded yet.
  5. I'm not expecting everything to go smoothly, but the idea that Spain is instantly going to collapse into anarchy after this doesn't hold water IMHO.

No one is saying that being against the pope is bad. At some point in the two centuries from the beginning of Reformation to the end of the Napoleonic Wars someone was mad at the pope. However, it is one thing to be mad- even one thing to sack the city of Rome while being the defender of Catholicism, and yet another to declare separate communion from the Catholic Church. It is one thing to be mad at the pope, but to take it out on the entire Catholic Church is an attack on the Church as an institution in Spain and a usual prelude to Protestantism. The Thirty Years War is in living memory, after all.

I don't think it will be "rocks fall everyone dies" but this kind of enormously radical action will come with considerable problems.

What I'm hearing is it would have been a less radical course to declare a Spanish Antipope instead of...it looks like Spain has gone Anglican (Spanglican?)

Shrug.

What do you call "we think the Pope is illegitimate so we stopped listening to anything he has to say"?
