Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

For my part, I'd like to offer her a chance to leave and go independent with us. She's clearly not being treated properly and there's no guarantee rebranding would do anything about it.

Standstill is much less problematic than Vista. She isn't all that useful ATM and is a cause of friction. If she were in better standing she would be a good person to connect the PRT Magic Division and the Protectorate. She is however in poor standing, and as such is a rather poor fit for that role. This is made worse by the fact her linker core is low ranked and she can't contribute much -Cait Sith can- but is again a cat and is loyal first and foremost to standstill. If we take her and give her a template the PRT won't have much of a problem right off the bat because she will be effectivly unrecognizable. Down the road it might cause problems if only because of lingering resentment for treatment on her part.

Vista is both a Ward and a ward of MM. Her jumping ship is more complicated simply from a responsibility POV. Chevy would not have any problems with her leaving, she has been a pain in the ass as far as he is concerned. If he tries to make stuff difficult and she raises a stink that might lead to bad feelings, but our two prospective recruits are problem children that are not very useful ATM, which should make recruiting them less of a problem.

Though as far as Legend is concerned that telepathic whistle trick is really valuable. If a weak mage can jam master attempts that is very useful, especially for PRT squads.

Standstill really needs to just come over to mage central, if she knows she is going to be treated like a traitor and pariah within where ever she goes why bother?
Her hope is that by changing her powerset, she can make a believable claim that she isn't Standstill the traitor.
Soo... How mad will legend be when we run off with Standstill and/or Vista?
Considering Legend is unhappy with how Standstill is being treated by the rest of the NYC Protectorate, probably not super unhappy as long as she's happier.
If we talk with him first I wonder if we could pull off having her become our groups 'Protectorate Liaison' in order to avoid having it look like she just ran off again?
That would certainly be one way to smooth out any friction. :)
That's true... But still the PR will be relentlessly bad... Tho that would be more of a getting hit set on Tay by Glenn rather than Legend.
Taylor: I'm independent. I don't have to deal with your PR rules bullshit.

I will point out that Chevalier doesn't WANT Vista to leave the Wards. He thinks the Wards is a great thing for young parahumans. The issue he has is that he wants her to be an actual Ward and she wants to be a Protectorate member or, more and more, wants the freedom of an independent.

That was in large part possible because Standstill has such an innate talent for telepathy. That isn't to say that it isn't possible for other mages to do it, but doing it Deviceless like this is pretty much a Standstill/Sarah calling card.

Given that we are on friendly terms with Alexandria, that they know we are on the up and up, and hopefully with Legend having seen the issues building up here they'd be amenable to it as well... Especially if the fact that she'd become another potential heavy hitter was made apparent.

It'd be good in terms of PR, would minimize the issues Standstill's 'defection' might otherwise cause, and would let people know that there's an official channel between little miss nuclear fireball and the official Cape organisation whenever the sheer firepower Taylor can literally pump out eventually comes to light.

Poor Standstill. She really needs to come down to mage central. Either joining us if we give her a template, or perhaps giving her a device and letting her join the PRT mages.

I think the most interesting thing is that it worked on non mages. You know, people who normally can't receive Telepathic signals? She was either able to ignore that part, or pump out enough telepathic signal to block out the mastery signal.

(Also, preeeeeety sure that was Cherish we just saw, definitely sounded like her power set)

Though there is cause, we took the action specifically because of SW's input. And well, our knee jerk reaction is somewhat obvious. This does help prevent that.

EDIT: Input being we might want to check up on standstill.

It was mentioned in some chapter or other that humans without linker cores are nearly deaf to telepathy. If she's really good at it then I guess she just cranked up the volume so high that they heard it anyway.

Maybe linker cores are like amplifiers for telepathy normally, and the nervous system is the antenna?

Honestly, I was hoping that we'd save templating someone we've already discussed, mostly so that we could give it to anyone we both liked and was in a shitty situation, like Standstill's.

The other capes didn't hear the signal, but it was loud enough that it interfered with the shard's own telepathy.

Yep.
People have been saying I'm too subtle, so I'm trying to be more obvious. :p

Soooo...
Mutate Missy,
Turn Kayleigh into a magic device gunner,
Partner Laura with Cassiel,
And give Sarah the Extinction Knight Template?

If she doesn't want to go full independent, we could perhaps suggest to Standstill that she request a transfer locally to help with the magical beast pilot program. She could offer her experience as a combatant and understanding of what the Beasts are like to assist with training, and the Beasts wouldn't let anyone mistreat her once she earned their affection. Part of the pack and all that. It might be a perfect fit if she wants to stay with the PRT.

Honestly going the PET keeps Vista, a lot of people always mention her when there is a mention of Tay's having her own team.

She's annoying and always trying too hard to be an adult.
she'd be the worst pick to have any magic.

But steal Standstill Tay!🤗🤗🤗

Too bad they're too stupid to appreciate it. If they don't want the AOE master blocker, let's recruit her. That would've been very useful 2 chapters ago.
