If possible, can we get the round shield made of hard light instead of a mechashift one? If we were going for the carbon plating and a mechashift weapon, I'd say mechashift shield to keep in theme, but as we're not, hard light all the way.

Thoughts on;
-Carbon Fiber Plating, Subdermal Voltaic Lattice. Physical attacks are more likely to impact the arm its self rather than energy attacks.

-(Healing) Nanomachine Distribution Channels. Her arm fixes its self, independence and functionality, probably also saves time on the future Builds where Tim wont have to repair the arm if it gets damaged. It hurts to give up a weapon slot for this, but we can probably pull it out at some point in the future to give her a full body system when shes more metal. For now its too fucking convenient not to take.

-(Defense) Round shield (can be used as a melee weapon)/Tower shield (greater area of protection) Okay, lets be honest here. A defensive tool would come in handy. Its her left arm, which is the proper place for a shield... so we have the choice of a half assed shield we can use as a weapon (remember, her arm, even without any of the systems we are voting on, is super strong and counts as a melee weapon in its own right), or a big huge stronger shield that protects a wider area area and does the job of being a shield better.

-(Arm) Mechashift sword, Mechashift whip, High-power laser beam, Rocket punch (NO HAND WEAPONS). All neat options, but inferior to the PARTICLE CANNON. Also putting something finessy like a whip in her left hand would be odd. Better to save it for her dominant hand.
-(Arm) Particle cannon (NO PALM WEAPON) The shit right here.
-(Dorsum) Thermal beam/Kinetic blast (impact, but cannot cut)/Hardlight sword. The ranged weapons are redundant next to the particle canon, and the blade, while neat i think is inferior to the mechashift blade.

-(Fingers) Mechashift claws Okay, i can see it and its neat, but if we were going melee punching them is probably going to be just as effective and less likely to end with us covered in gore up to our wrist.
-(Fingers) Mechashift syringe (payload TBD) Syringe Fingers, do you want druggies to attack Vista and try to suck on her fingers? Because this is how you get that.
-(Fingers) Thermal beams/ Kinetic blast redundant.
-(Fingers) Wireless/contact taser (arcs of lightning, 10 foot range) ...A good option for nonlethal, would synchronize well with the particle canon, but we have not the slots.

-(Palm) Conflict with Particle Cannon.

So for the sake of this vote, i put forth the following; Particle canon, Tower Shield, Nanomachines.

When we eventually do her RIGHT arm, we stick some kind of multi-slot mighty Melee weapon in there along with a nonlethal option like the lightning fingers. That way Vista will beable to go to town with a sword and shield, sword and canon or swap the sword for a less lethal option, or user her lighting for a short ranged weapon to pair with her longer ranged particle canon for ranged combat.

Vista's a mid to long-range fighter. Our plans might give her more options, but I don't think that's going to change her primarily taking damage from being shot at. A lot of the most damaging things she'll be shot at with are energy weapons. I don't know exactly how bulletproof she'll be after the brute augments, but I think giving her a way to potentially survive an ambush from a Purity level blaster is preferable to being a little more bulletproof.

But she has a shield (almost everyone seems to favour one or the other), meaning the shield will take whatever attacks she cant deflect with her power. So at range she has A) Cover B) her power and C) her shield, before her arm's durability comes into question. Sure odds are its going to get hit eventually but shes experinced with ranged fighting and using her power to protect herself, so its the situation where she is less likely to get hit in general.

Conversely she lost her original arm in melee range combat, she has less experience there and her body and stature disadvantage her there (for now o_O). Melee also means no cover, and her power gets alot less useful on the fly, leaving her with just her shield. Also in a panic situation, your more likely to raise your arm to ward off a attack from someone swinging at you than someone shooting at you. As such the arm is more likely to get hit in fisticuffs than at range... which means shes more likely (though not assured) to benefit more from physical durability than energy durability.

You did, but I didn't remember. Also, if we do get more mechashift stuff (sword, big ol' doom cannon, ect) and the heavier plating, can we get a mechashift shield for thematic consistency?

...Well, her arm and now associated muscles are the only synthetic parts of her, so I'm gonna go with "certainly not at the moment".

Was working on bad information. Removed edit, and the ambush scenario I was worried about wouldn't be changed by either passive.

Fair point. I was thinking of covering the parts of the body not protected by the shield, like in an ambush from behind. Clarified info tells me that was silly.

Making the arm sturdier to punch brutier brutes sounds pretty good, since the shield would probably cover the arm regardless, making SVL moot-ish.
Especially since I'm in the 'Nanites are meh' camp. Making it sturdier so she can survive to get repairs only makes sense.

It doesn't sound like theres any reason /not/ to suggest the pockets idea to Vista? (gives her something to talk/brag about with Circus! Helps recruiting!) , even if using them is tricky when she's got to concentrate to maintain a hammerspace

Can @Silently Watches maybe clarify the difference between laser beam and particle cannon, in this story? I'm mainly concerned with whether both are continous-beam , or if one (presumably the particle cannon) is a discrete projectile. Beam seems better for her space-warping, to me.

Shields....I really don't understand all the people simultaneously worrying about easier-repairs, but then skimping on the defenses to get one more melee option (when the arm itself potentially is, and when theres better weapons to give) .

I still don't think the nanomachines are worth losing a slot at the moment, but a lot of my complaint depends on whether "heals when connected to generator" is what I understand it to be with her already needing to go off-field for healing (even if its just a gas-generator from a hardware store, thats reduced utility...if it needs a magitech generator that loses any independence argument).

For the passive armor, anti-energy is my pick simply for the fear of the arm getting shut down indirectly and thus crippling her. Physical damage attacks are more likely to cause problems beyond the arm anyways. (And she'll likely havet an awful lot of high-power energy weapons INSIDE the arm to be risking any sort of overload or EMP or hacking) .

Fingers.... seriously, Chibi Sith would match soooo well with Calamity Witch thematically. We give her the lightning on this arm (and its a better emergency-counter than a larger weapon close range, besides its other uses) and then when? she opts for a new Right Arm we give her a hard-light weapon to match! (I'm personally partial to the temple-guard Glaives, but embedded in the arm makes me think more Pata in style)
