Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Uh, how is Epoc going to know we've signaled legend? Or are giving him transmissions/audio/etc?

Magic, duh. :p

But seriously, are you confident Legend won't choose to attack Epoch in the middle of our meeting? Put nothing in potentially compromised PRT files, inform none of his subordinates? I stress, Epoch has the resources to figure out where Taylor lives, and is willing to straddle the unwritten rules by leaving a statue in her bedroom. Even if he avoids attacking her directly, he could easily make Taylor's life very unpleasant by going after her indirectly.

Additionally, I genuinely don't see why Taylor should be so loyal to the Protectorate to immediately inform them when a villain approaches her with seemingly benign intentions. I'm confident she can handle and/or just run from a confrontation solo, if need be.

Also, as a meta reason, Epoch is a Cauldron cape who paid a premium for a rare power, and then calmly went on to lead a gang in one of the most competitive cities of America. He's interesting, and I sincerely doubt he's going to do something as dumb as try and ambush someone with Taylor's rep.

And for some reason you consider this a good reason to meet with him, alone, in pre-arranged territory? Sorry, but that seems rather dumb to me.

Yep. So if anything it's better to let the those who can offer assistance ASAP if things turn out for the worse know while we're trying to discern why the hell they're trying to contact us. Contingencies are vital in this situation.

If Legend really does go in guns blazing, the worst that happens is we get cut off mid-monologue. And unless we know he has Coil-level infiltration, which nobody really should, he shouldn't be able to affect the PRT.
If the Adepts come after Taylor in Philly, that's grounds to start pulling some national resources. Cape national resources.

What kokuenDG said. Land, I know this is a trap of some sort. Which is why we are taking every precaution. We can teleport out, dimensional shift, fly, summon the PRT, have Samantha teleport in and tear shit up, Recurson Field+Nuke beam even. What more do you want?
Are we immune to master powers? I can't remember if that was this quest or not...
We are immune to parahuman master powers, and the one instance of mind control in Nanoha wouldn't be present here. I said that last page.

I'll admit I've no interest in listening to what Epoch is trying to sell to us.

Why don't we follow him then? Everything we know about the situation indicates the "trap" would be a Master, which isn't a threat to us. He's not going to jump us with combat abilities.

I would usually argue in favour of caution, but we know we're immune to the possible threat.

[X] Follow – What is Epoch thinking, showing himself in the open like this? There's something weird going on, but it doesn't look like he wants to fight. If he wants a peaceful meeting, you can oblige him unless he crosses the line first.
- [X] Prepare Perfect Storm to alert Legend, but only in the event of unpleasantness. This is a professional gang leader with the ability to infiltrate your home, there's no sense in antagonizing him immediately.

[X] Run – The leader of the Adepts showing himself right after you had a meeting with Legend about them? That's too convenient. He has something up his sleeve, and walking into it blindly is a quick road to slow suffering.

-[X]Have Perfect Storm alert Legend of what's going on, a constant tracker beacon of your position, and an audio-video file/transcription of everything you and PS can see, hear, and scan for.
-[X] Have Sam teleport to the area and watch from afar, just in case.

Information is the most important asset. Running away means we've both wasted a turn and that they'll try again on our turf and be more aggressive about it.

I gather you're not interested in discussion and just wanted to cherry-pick something and call it dumb. I'm genuinely thankful for reminding me why I stick to lurking.

Your insults are noted. I did notice those portions, thank you very much. If he is brazen enough to break the rules with that statue gambit, what exactly makes you think he's not above ambushes?

Which insults? I said you didn't address those paragraphs, not that you failed to notice them. And your post did consist solely of 'I think this opinion is dumb', which left me nothing to discuss.

A good point. I'd discuss it, but it's back to lurking for me. You'll probably dismiss this, but I wasn't being sarcastic when I said I was thankful. I should be writing things, not wasting time arguing over the internet.

Then you might want to include the contingencies the others are voting for. They won't happen unless 50% of the voters pick them, which if we don't could possibly leave us in a sticky situation.

Both of you, cut that shit out. You're both being jerks. @Lyova, your first post I'm quoting does come across as insulting, and picking the most offensive way to disengage from a conversation. @landcollector, I know very well how frustrated you get when people in quests don't pick up on clues, but just because you disagree with someone's opinion does not give you the right to be an ass.

Frankly, I'm very disappointed in you both.

Fair enough, I'll admit my frustration got the better of me.

Is there any kind of internal cooldown on Epochs power? Can he just spam it on the same person continuously? If so he would frankly be terrifying to fight if he got within range of us as he could just pause or rewind us every time we tried to cast a spell or fly away.

Do you really see one of the people successfully keeping the Cauldron conspiracy quiet this long, immediately charging into a situation guns blazing rather than standing back and observing as he's been made capable? The fact that Epoch's here for us to notify him about suggests enough of a leak-risk he shouldn't immediately make records about it that could get back to Epoch, or his conspiracy would've been discovered already?

And for revealing our telekinesis, how does having Samantha warn him fix that? How did she find out if not that (was she just in the area nearby?). I don't see how having Perfect Storm use tech methods to send the video et all reveals it either, they already think he's a tinker device.

His method of approaching Taylor by leaving a statue in her room is inherently aggressive and threatening, so I would rather not leave him alone. As @Corian noted, if we ignore him, he'll also more likely to be more aggressive in his next attempt. He probably would not have approached in person if he did not feel that he could escape if Taylor attacked. This carries into the Follow action, as he'll probably try to lead Taylor into a position that's even better for him. However, Taylor has some advantages that he probably can't circumvent, and following gives us the opportunity to prepare them (through the suboptions). Hell, maybe we can get him to do the customary villain monologue.

Cauldron as a conspiracy doesn't really exist anymore, if I recall correctly. Only the Triumvirate are left, and they don't have the pseudo-omniscience Contessa used to enforce the conspiracy's secrecy.

Canonically, we don't know. For the purposes of this quest, he can use his power as much as he wants, but any person/object he effects is then immune to his power for the next 10 seconds after the effect wears off.

I'd forgotten about that, but they should still have the competence and habits from being the ones to carry it out up until a year or whatever ago? Path to Victory just tells you what to do, you still have to actually do the things it suggests, I would've thought. So my point is still something to consider?
