Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

None of the Thinkers who have powers that let them screen for Simugh influence were allowed to come to this fight out of fear that something would happen that killed them, and Ziz is scary enough that the Protectorate wants every screener they can get and won't risk them unnecessarily. Not to mention, few of them would be able to help in this situation.

So I suppose the answer is yes, you could, but there's no telling how long it would take to get an answer.
Not sure if this will change the answer, but I think BF110 was talking about the designation Purity would have received just after the Simurgh's attack? The PRT should have that documented somewhere nearby and not need to risk their Thinkers.

@BF110C4

Ah, misunderstood. The record isn't physically nearby, but yes, you could make a call and see if someone can track it down. That said, and as has been mentioned before, Talking is Not a Free Action.

[X] Night and Fog – Double the evil, double the pain. If you can take them out, the biggest barrier between the heroes and the noncombatants will be gone.
-[X] Cast a recursion field to leave most of the heroes free to herd the civvies (firstly explain effect of the Field to Revel and Brutes).

Take out Night and Fog and we can have a better opportunity to talk.
As long as they're there we don't have TIME for a chat.

In a recursion field, Night and Fog would be the only people completely stuck on the ground. Unless Purity or Crusader knock one of the heroes out of the sky, Night and Fog shouldn't be able to get in the way of whatever we want to do.

Field doesn't last forever. Wipe them out while they're stuck and then demaning the rest surrender works better than fighting until the Field breaks down.

[X] Purity – The boss herself. You're fast enough to keep up with her, and like you told her last you saw her, you're tougher than she is. Plus, if you want to try talking herdown, this might be your best shot.
-[X] Cast a recursion field to leave most of the heroes free to herd the civvies, and try talking down Purity.
--[X] Use Temporal Sludge to keep the other villains quiet while we talk.

-[X] If negotiations fall through and you have to take the villains down, start by handling Purity; the others already group together and have limited ability to strike an airborne target. Then, a combination of Temporal Sludge and Solar Wrath should take care of Fog and whoever is hiding inside him.
--[X] If Fog can't be beaten non-lethally and refuses to surrender, switch to a lethal Solar Wrath for him. You have learned from your recent experiences, and Fog is just as willing to kill as Cadejo was.

Hopefully we can gather some votes together, because SB's current plan doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
[] Purity sort of– The boss herself. You're fast enough to keep up with her, and like you told her last you saw her, you're tougher than she is. Plus, if you want to try talking her down, this might be your best shot.
-[] Use wide area search to scout out the area in front of the convoy, once you have located a clear zone in front of this mess lay down a full hell wrath for maximum destruction, doesn't have to be lethal unless that's needed to do the realestate damage we want to make everyone pay attention, then try to nab Purity in a dimension so you can talk without things escalating (i know, heresy), maybe warn the heroes so they can act on the distraction provided ask them to focus on staying alive and stalling/stopping the convoy rather than making the capture until we get back. Use the dimensional whatever to talk this out with Purity, quickly.
--[] if diplomacy fails and you don't see a better option blast purity with a rapid combo of temporal sludge and hell wrath (non-lethal) and take her out before dropping the dimension. Then unleash the dakka on the other capes. Finish this quickly enough you might be able to get to one of the other fights. Kaiser could do with one less head I think, this is all probably his fault.
Some of the wordings and sentiments in there...

Also, people, it's been said, but:
--[] Use Temporal Sludge to keep the other villains quiet while we talk.
How is this supposed to work? It will slow them down by a third. That won't keep anyone quiet, and at worst it'll be seen as a hostile act, prepping her allies up for an attack as soon as we give a signal.

1. It's SB, what did you expect?
2. That includes not reading the character sheet.
3. Out of curiosity, what's that vote number at?
Well, 4 votes for that and 1 for a variant that I can't spot the difference of right away and 2 for talking down Purity without any precautions, although one of those is basically "ask her to surrender, if she doesn't, there's a crisis you're dealing with so go lethal on the capes"

Not exactly happy about the final lines of the modified vote here (Took out the Temporal Sludge the guys to not talk line), but a fallback option if things go wrong is something we need. Hopefully the conditionals will prove unnecessary.

Hm. Maybe include a line about informing the heroes of our plans with Recursion Field? Or would that be covered by the first subvote, given that it mentions the role for the rest of the heroes?

Talking Is Not A Free Action. We kinda examined that possibility already, it means pulling the heroes out of their fight and giving the villains a heads-up if it works. Otherwise, not everybody hears it.

Don't we have communication systems? I was thinking more of informing whoever's coordinating the heroes(if there is someone like that) of the plan, so that the ones we leave outside can get right to dealing with the civilians without having to worry about the enemy capes teleporting away. I don't see why we'd need to pull anyone out of the fighting for that.

If we can use telepathy to let Revel know our plan (or the basics of it: use dimensional bullshit to separate the villains from the civilians) before we get into position for a reversion field, we won't lose any time, and the other heroes may be able to respond more appropriately. I'm not worried about pulling people out of the fighting, I'm worried about the villains killing someone before we can use a reversion field, and I don't want to give them extra time to try.

While we do have a wrist band, it's not telepathic, nor is either communication method distraction free. As for who's coordinating the heroes, that'd be Revel. Who SW already said would be pulled into the Recursion Field with us because she's kinda in the middle of it all.

If you're worried about someone being killed before we can get the field up, your best bet would be to not spend time talking, but to make like the currently winning plan and leap right into the mix to cast it.

Yeah, I think Firedon's concern is valid, and I'm throwing out thoughts to see if we can work in a way to address it without sacrificing speed, but it is, for me at least, a secondary concern.

Actually, I believe we might be over-complicating this. We're right next to Strapping Lad, who won't be pulled in. Which means we can tell him that we're going to pull in the villains + Revel and the Pelhams and he could then tell everyone else what's going on once the field goes up.

Nice strawman there, but could be better. 4/10. Less the Nazis, and more the personal effect on Taylor.
Nice good faith there. I was just taking the opportunity to reverse a "think of the children" parody at Nazi expense. ;) I expected a Funny rating, not an objection. But yeah, let's not murder anything that doesn't have a kill order. And even then only if there's nobody else to take the shot.

Ah. Right. That makes sense.

Oh noes, won't someone think of the poor Nazis?

I agree with landcollector. I'm not very concerned with the Nazis' well-being (except maybe Purity? she's still a racist and has probably done some pretty terrible things, though) so much as Taylor's mental health after the battle if she jumps straight to kill-mode. I'd like her to be able and willing to escalate when it's necessary, not to make her either deal with what she may perceive as murder or erode her morality for the sake of convenience.

Edit: Just saw your other post. Sorry about jumping on you like that.
