Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

I'm actually good for bones and DLG, but I want to try the TSAB route and why not do babysit and socialize the TSAB as out social vote?

I'm planning on voting for:
-Daddy's Little Girl, part 2
--Contact the TSAB and see what help, if any, they can provide.
I personally feel this has the best chance of getting Danny back at 100% with minimal side-effects. It may not pay off right away, but the Enforcers can send TSAB a copy of their scans, where their specialists can figure out a solution for the Enforcer's medic to implement. And we know they have a medic, given they healed Taylor without a scar from being impaled through her torso.

-Burn the Sinners, part 4
Best to nip this one in the bud.

-Babysitting
Remember that little girl that made her own Guardian Beast? Yea, lets meet her!

-Participate in Final Frontier as a social activity instead of a main activity.
It's to our advantage to know at least some basics about all the worlds we have access to. Who knows what opportunities they'll provide.

Well now, I wonder why one social activity is highlighted in yellow. I guess it'd be a pity not to explore it.
When a voting option is yellow, it means it's a time-limited event, that is available only for that vote. Either it wins that vote or we miss the event forever.

Main activities, I really want to doBone of the father, because I want to see what Gestalt is up to.

Social actions—-
Babysitting, because it has potential for funny/cute stuff.
Exploring another world, because we haven't done that lately.

Daddy's Little Girl, part 2 – You have a few options for maybe possibly improving your dad's memory. None of them will be straightforward, but would it hurt to look into them?

Well, we started the arc, we see it through or it gets worse.

Ask Tim to brew up a mutagen to try improving his brain's ability to heal. The almost certainly obvious mutation will have its own downsides, but considering they have known each other for years, he might be willing to consider it.

Guaranteed negative consequences in exchange for them being limited ones. Theres also the possibility of transitioning him from a parahuman to a Mage by building onto whatever mutations ensue.

Contact parahumans who have some brain-related ability. They'll mostly be Tinkers, and probably rogues or villains, but Dragon could help keep things from getting too dangerous.

I don't think I like this option, mostly because its in the hands of the Shards, and we've long known that when they do things, its in the best interests of maximizing conflict possibilities.

Contact the TSAB and see what help, if any, they can provide. It would be best to start with the Enforcers since they're able to take a real look at him.

A shot in the dark. Check with an alien tech base and see if they have a solution. There might be a clean fix or there might not.
We know the TSAB has the technology for brain-in-jar and we know the Belkans have the ability to somehow encode their memories into their genetics so inheritors can recall their past lives.

Its not impossible.

Ugh...

Here's what I'm going to be voting for, and I'm sticking to them

-Main-
  • Bone of the Father, part 4 – You managed to cut the Wolfheads down to just two capes, at least as far as you're aware. Strike while the iron is hot and don't give them time to recover.
  • Burn the Sinners, part 4 – If the news wasn't lying to you, it was only the Behemoth family that attacked Kansas City. Where did the Leviathan family run off? Chase after them before they also attack a city in revenge.
-Social-
  • Babysitting – One of the members of Operation Pentagram has a favor to ask of you. A somewhat embarrassing favor.
  • Participate in Final Frontier as a social activity instead of a main activity.
    • Take the rest of Arcana with you. Make it a group outing, and to introduce everyone to the other big-shots they're going to be working with more frequently now.
Bone and Sinners because I like it when this quest actually finishes what it starts. And because I couldn't give a flying rat's popcorn fart about Danny personally. The part of the recent update that stood out to me the most was this bit:
You two were strangers for so long after your mom's death, and the last real conversation you had involved accusations hurled back and forth. You had in so many ways already lost him even if he was still alive that it does not hurt that much more to pretend that both your parents are already dead.
Emphasis mine.

Taylor was already in the process of moving on in her own way, and will continue to do so regardless of how this turns out. This chapter also showed that he actually is getting better on his own, and I say let that happen at its own pace rather than try mucking about in Danny's think-pan any more on the chance of speeding things up. There's a reason Panacea "doesn't do brains", and I say we shouldn't do brains either. Further, the only difference now from before is that she has the knowledge that Danny is getting better, but she is already so far beyond needing him in her life as a parental influence that that knowledge changes absolutely nothing.

As for the social, I smell shenanigans in babysitting, and I could use the chuckle, plus it would mean we have a grateful member of Operation Pentagram who knows we're good for more than just the indie-hero shtick, and the specification about bringing the rest of Arcana for Final Frontier is because all other cases of taking it has been just Taylor and one or more members of the Triumvirate, so unless @Silently Watches comes out and says we'd be taking the rest of them anyway before the fact I feel justified in it.

Your anti-passion towards DLG and Danny In general is delightful, keep it up! 👍
It makes this thread that much more engaging when there are spirited debates over whether to do a task or not, and it inspires creativity and interesting write-ins when done well. You are so opposed to DLG that it improves your persuasive arguments for other options and offers a greater chance of swaying the undecided.
And honestly part of the reason we got DLG for the last chapter is that their were only two options and no-one posted anything really persuasive towards a specific social event, so people gravitated towards the known options. Now DLG is back competing against the other three main options, and it has sub-categories which further can divide the voters. We'll see what happens.

The biggest advantage to contacting Tinkers would be letting Tim examine some of their work. That might even be the goal SW is aiming for, should we figure it out.*

Mutagens applied to deal with an existing injury to something so finicky as a brain seems like a great way to give him total amnesia, irrecoverably, but with letting him make new memories going forward. Then again, provided some of the mutation is visible, we have the contacts to get him set up as a Case 53. I don't particularly like this direction, but it should be discussed as an option simply because the option exists.

*Edit: with the additional bonus of removing shard influence from the actual healing.

Going to make a few comments now that my brain is awake and in overdrive.

Something that I forgot to mention in-chapter as a potential con: these possibly-villainous capes would see Danny, know who he is or at least what he looks like, and would know that he's either related to a cape or related to somebody who has enough pull to get Dragon helping them out with his care. It MIGHT put a target on his back depending on who gets called and how nasty they're feeling that day.

I'm not saying that is for sure going to happen, but it would be something that somebody inevitably thinks of, and it's still a small possibility even with Dragon vetting them.
Build a template for somebody. Specify which character and which template.
I'm just going to take this vote out of the options. You guys did the work of building 5 Devices for Standstill; it's not fair to make you use a social vote on it too. That's really more for the cases when Taylor has to spend time in IAE to power the process. Standstill will get template-ed later in the week.
Another potential fight (so XP and unlocking). A potential crisis averted. While the Simurgh branch specialized in Strangers/Masters, there could always have been some on loan to other branches that could halt the PRT's attempts to stop them. Add to that this is the Leviathan family, and there are likely some hydrokinetics involved which could spell bad news for Alexandria.
Quick correction here, because Taylor and definitely Dragon would know this. While the Leviathan branch has some hydrokinetics, their main claim to fame are their speedsters and their duplicators. Seir (self-duplication with teleportation between clones) and Empusa (flight but can also copy anything that leaves her 'power bubble') from Arc 13 were high-ranking members of their group.

That would take more time to directly analyze their tech than Tim would have.

With the Template Social vote rendered obsolete, why don't we use it to take Sailor Shining Shot, Scarlet Grimoire, and Scathach to Earth Vav and continue the goddess sub plot? Build up our pantheon.
Shipwright and Dragon could also be interesting choices though. Might help with the translations.

And of course a safe haven off world is always useful in a pinch.

I like the way you think, but I would prefer to put that off until Tim's next building vote. There was a translation drone I think we'll need.

That is nice of you, and a better reason to make Devices for the final template. Despite all that Tim has on his plate for making stuff, I still prefer using his time over burning our precious social votes.... particularly if we get him some engineers devoted to helping him get more done. A social vote for that might be a good idea now, for that matter, as the sooner we start that process, the more build slots Tim gets from it, just from them participating in more build votes.

That would take more time to directly analyze their tech than Tim would have.

I was thinking more along the lines of buying tech to analyze, but I could certainly see the machines in use requiring their maker to be used. It's one of many options the shards have for keeping tinker-tech proliferation from making humans actually dangerous to the Entities, after all.

Plus we really should do the babysitting and either deal with the Nazis ot the Endbringer cultists.

The cult will still be there and they may do human sacrifices but if they cannot understand us going now would be pointless.

Correct. It would take a couple of weeks to build up enough data for Dragon and Perfect Storm to start working on a translation database. Something for next arc, I guess. :)

That drone made it into several of my votes, but the Template Devices took precedence for me, so we could get Standstill's spell picks started finally. We've taken a ridiculously long time to give out the fourth Template, one of which we undid, so seeing the spell tree is going to take ages.

Oh yeah, that's right. I also need to put it up for a vote at some point whether to have Standstill's skill tree advance with the normal Device XP (slower growth but doesn't risk jealousy from Missy and Laura) or with every fight like Taylor (faster growth but might case issues within the team). Maybe I'll do that at the same time as the vote to pick her template.

@Silently Watches, a question, is this a viable vote option?
[Social] Talk with TSAB about healing technology/powers available in both of your societies, and the potential to reverse brain damage.

Errrrrgggg. You're blatantly trying to turn a main activity into a social activity, which is always a quick way to annoy me. On the other hand, I'm TRYING to be more accommodating…

…huh.

You know what? Sure. You can make that be a social vote.

I'm not sure the people who want to go play Civilization on Earth Vav actually understand what they think we'd be getting into... I don't have time to go into my thoughts right now but I'll get to it later tonight...

Edit: freaking autocorrupt. That's what I get for posting from my phone before work...

Okay, so while not quite as effective as the Simurgh family, this branch would also be very skilled at escape and also rapid take-over of an area by drowning the local defence in duplicates.

Awesome. So with this out of the way, My social votes will likely consist of either
  • Babysitting – One of the members of Operation Pentagram has a favor to ask of you. A somewhat embarrassing favor.
Going for the cuteness
  • Hang out with another character(s). This is by definition a non-combat activity.
Either Epoch and Mac, invite them to formally join Arcana (increase our mage options). Or Dragon, and scan her workforce for Linker Cores (increase our Tech options).
  • Participate in Final Frontier as a social activity instead of a main activity.
Knowing what we have available (or where to avoid) is always a good option. For all we know, we'll be dropping in on Earth Shin and will be attacked on sight by Goddess's cronies. And if Legend is with us he could get Mastered. Lot of possiblities.

Vote 14.20

Remember to vote for TWO main activities

[ ] Final Frontier, part 4 – The Triumvirate Dynamic Duo is interested in what resources Earth Bet would have access to with convenient interdimensional transport. The Enforcers mentioned long ago that there were possibly more worlds they couldn't see clearly. Check one out.

[ ] Bone of the Father, part 4 – You managed to cut the Wolfheads down to just two capes, at least as far as you're aware. Strike while the iron is hot and don't give them time to recover.
