Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

People want a team building exercise, and we need to deal with some Nazi extremists, who doesn't love bashing Nazis, its good wholesome fun for team building with our three newbies

Will you consider swapping to the Japan trip to rally the numbers into one bloc

Fine.

There fact that the GM admitted that if we had been hanging with the Privateers they would have turned more violent and Danny himself would have turned more violent. So yeah maybe they wouldn't have died but our reputation would have become way worse thanks to them. Heck let's just accept we cannot win them all. There will always be some activity we won't feel like doing and the GM will or not punish us for not doing said activity. Or we could actually be doing what the GM wants but then the rolls might screw us over anyway.

I don't feel like visiting Danny because we right now don't have either a powerful healer or the money of the bounties to get Cranial from Toybox to try to cure him.

If you guys really want Danny that much they put collect the bounties and getting Standstill that healing template in your votes, mmkay?

Edit: Heck collecting the bounties doesn't lose as much time as getting the template for Standstill and Cranial from Toybox might be able to help Danny if he does exist in this quest with the same powers that in canon.

Thing is, the GM has some weird ideas the players might not agree with like his plan to turn Purity into this quest version of Fate. Ignoring that Purity is way older than Taylor, she doesn't swing that way, is a former nazi that might still be racist and she only turned to the side of angels for her daughters. The GM also seems oddly disappointed every time Taylor Guardian Beast doesn't die.

Also is the fact that the GM admitted that if we had been hanging with the Privateers they would have turned more violent and Daddy wpuld have turned more violent. So yeah maybe they wouldn't have died but our reputation would have become way worse thanks to them. Heck let's just accept qe cannot win them all. I... think you're both reading too much on some of this stuff and making some really out there assumptions.

Now that I think about it, there's one other thing that irks me about the Daddy's Little Girl questline. IT SEEMS TO BE THE ONE THAT HAS THE LEAST POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES if we let it time out. Literally every other option is both more time sensitive, and potentially disastrous if we fail it. And we are going to fail things, we can't do everything, as proven by literally every single update. So I think that it's better for us to concentrate on the other options.
Oh, that is a DANGEROUS assumption to make. If it's a main quest, the chances of it being inconsequential are very, very small. About the only one that won't have any kind of consequence would be Final Frontier, and I specifically said that was an "adventure of the week" format for just that reason.

We chose to be independent? We have Alexandria pushing us to join the Wards and or the Protectorate. Had we joined the Wards we would have been punished for refusing to change our Cape name and looks.

Had we focused on the Privateers we could have ended becoming more violent, forgetting the Unwritten Rules and... whatever else you had planned.

No matter what path we take there will always be problems.

Thinking it wont have consequences is silly.

But id rather eat the consequences of not talking to the stranger who doesnt remember us in our father's body than the consequences of letting the Fallen regroup and come after us. Also: fuck nazis always and forever, thats a cancer we should cut out before it metastasizes. One Brockton Bay was enough.

So thats both options taken.

[X] Bone of the Father, part 2 – Maybe it's just because it's one you grew up hearing about, but the idea of an Empire off-shoot running around Philly fills you with dread. Plus the fact that the real Empire was turned into Ziz-bombs. Check their territory for any known Empire capes calling the shots.
[X] Burn the Sinners, part 2 – You have the information about the Fallen you wanted, specifically about the Simurgh family. Track them down. Burn them out. Leave no survivors.

[X] Participate in Final Frontier as a social activity instead of a main activity.
[X] Explore another world. If you do not select a world where Taylor has been or already knows about, one will be selected randomly. You may bring 1-3 other characters with you.
- [X] Weekend trip to Aleph's Japan with Missy, Kayleigh and Laura. As newly-forged anime characters they need to see their true homeland, and honestly all four of you need a vacation from your vacation.

I'll switch up to Japan for the social.

As for Seeing Danny again, I honestly think that Taylor should not care about him any more at this point. Danny is dead, end of story, there is no point in further interacting with a total stranger who will only hurt us.

I'm not saying there aaren't going to be consequences. I'm saying that it's the one with the least amount of consequences. Because the Nazis and the Fallen are inevitably going to murder far more people and cause much more Chaos if we don't deal with than than if we don't deal with what became of our own dad.

I'm not entirely certain where you made that connection...

I've seen it in enough anthropomorphized things where they treat the lobster's antennae like a classic pencil mustache and throw in a French accent. Sometimes, the idea sticks around just because there's nothing that really fits to take the place.

Are you reading the same story I've been reading? You make a number of absolute statements that have little substance that I can think of. If we'd worked with the Privateers more, we would have had more control over them. This likely would have led to them being more violent because this is a quest on Sufficient Velocity, but the fact we would have voted for violence doesn't mean that they would have been a bad investment of time. It's just that we ignored them to the point that when Captain was permanently benched, we didn't have the rapport needed to hold them together.

Now, we have one Privateer who talked Tim into giving him an entirely defensive suit so he can try to save innocents from the grunts even if he can't fight back against the capes. That is the right frame of mind for the Extinction Knight Template, as that's the template we would have gotten if we had voted at the beginning to define 'hero' as "defends the innocent" rather than "gets rid of the villains". That's why I want to bring him in to any situation that he can be reasonably, believably worked into, so we can get his number of socials up and make him our final Template mage.

Going after Danny right now has nothing to do with the Privateers, or with Jujak, at least in the near future. It's about a daughter who has been neglecting her father for the same reason he neglected her pre-Trigger in canon: Heberts suck at doing what needs to be done, particularly when it comes to facing emotional *bleep*. Eventually, that kind of procrastination comes back to bite you. She needs to deal with this, and right now she isn't dealing with it. She's just avoiding it.

I'm gonna be honest. I'm fully on board of letting this one time out.

There's something about something going terribly wrong (or right) with Danny/QA that I really want to see it happen.

It has so much potential for good drama that it cannot not happen.

Alexandria isn't trying to force us into the Wards. She's trying to groom us to become a member of the next Triumvirate, now that Eidolon is off the field thanks to his ever dwindling powers and massive ego. Legend knows this and is on board with her, as so far, we have shown ourselves to be much like Alexandria and Legend were when they first started their careers. We have power, knowledge, and character. With finally getting a full team, we'll be able to show whether we have the potential for leadership that they're also looking for. In that light, Standstill serving as liaison is not an attempt to force anything, just to help the Protectorate look worthwhile to try to fix from within.

I don't get why people think that nothing will change with regards to Danny if we take the quest line. Do you folks really think that the QM will offer such a utterly pointless quest as a main quest that offers nothing but pointless angst?

Fuck. That.

Now that you've pointed that out I want QA gone from Danny.

Give him LCM and dislodge QA from Danny's brainmeats. We don't need a second triggered Danny causing Taylor untold pain by her being forced to put him down for the sake of others.

Now I'm even more interested in getting Daddy's Little Girl quest line started.

That's kind of the point and fun of a quest, though?

Like, what else are you expecting?

Eh, I already said it but here it goes again.

Those who want Danny so much, should at least vote to also pick the bounties so we have money for Cranial of Toybox to take a look. Might not even work but at least it will make Taylor feel that she is doing something.

Those who want a better team should focus on bonding with the Team. That's why I want a Guardian Beast Of The Tome instead of wasting days creating a Template for Standstill.

Those who want to burn the Fallen, should make Taylor ask her alien allies if there is something magic can do to help deprograming that Parahumans powers cannot do. I don't want Taylor to end finding months later that they had something she could have done but didn't because she didn't care to ask.

And of course there is the Endbringer attack.

Do we have something that might work against the Endbringer that's radiation and energy?

Ragnarok wouldn't work and might even make him stronger. Would ice magic do anything?

I honesty don't know, he is Taylor worst match up ever.

Mistilteinn might be effective against Behemoth. He's a lot less able to dodge compared to Leviathan, and If we train it up to Master Rank and focus it on limbs, we might be able to halt him in his tracks. I believe the Enforcers also had a plan, once there were 4-6 mages trained in Dimensional transportation, to move an Endbringer to an uninhabited planet and just go crazy with the city-killer/planet-buster style spells and weapons.

Eh, I already said it but here it goes again.
You said something that is wrong, get refuted, and say it again. Yes, you do that. A lot.
It is quite annoying.

Funnily enough, we were given a Main Questline because there's something planned for it. Ignoring it entirely and thus having zero information is not the best way to make plans for how to deal with it.

You want to delay making a template... so we can wait around for longer to make a GB of the Tome? No one has an open slot for a GB! And that isn't changing until they have the XP to learn a new spell! That second sentence is nonsense!

We're already asking Cassiel. The expert on the Fallen AND Parahuman mastering. Plus we're ransacking Cauldron's files and there might be something there.

It has been 15 days since the last Endbringer. They have a gap of roughly 90. This is not currently relevant.
You are at least correct the Behemoth is probably a shitty matchup for Taylor, it just isn't at all relevant right now.

In character Taylor might believe that can work.

Out of character we do know Endbringers exists in many dimensions at once. So the only thing that might work in an Arc-en-Ciel right into the Endbringer core.
Alright, seriously. What.
No. You are worng. We know that works. Why? Because we have word of QM that 30 Breaker tier attacks kills an Endbringer. It's old information.
Throwing them into space with 4+ Forced Displacement (The 'teleport target' Boost Device exclusive spell) and then hitting the Endbringer with an Arc-en-Ciel also works, but it is not the only way.

Please, stop trying to contradict people who have actually read the thread. You just keep spewing misinformation.

Edit: We should see about collecting that bounty, though. It would let us bankroll the team just as we're gearing up.

At first thought that's not a terrible idea for a Social activity, except the only people we'd be able to bring with us would be Sam and Laura. Plus it sounds like the sort of thing that could be handled in 2 paragraphs before we go to the rest of the activity. (Taylor shifts into her 'Cinder' outfit, teleports to Miami out of sight of the PRT building, walk in, claim the reward, walk out, teleport home)

No... we know OOC that a dozen or two Buster (Breaker? the higher rank one) 30 Breaker spells will take out Endbringers too.

It's just that if we're using Dimensional Transference we might as well oneshot them with an Arc-en-Ciel. That does require the Enforcer's ship to be fixed first though.

Or the alternative, Samantha teleports to Tampa to pick up the bounties while Taylor is doing literally ANYTHING ELSE. Because this would be so boring to read that it doesn't even deserve two paragraphs. It's just lots of signing documents and picking up a suitcase. MAYBE it could earn two lines of dialogue.

Then can we have it be a sub vote or something? Or will you be having it happen automatically like with the Cassiel talk about the Fallen's Mastered victims?

Magic is Outside-Context Problem so big it allowed the Smurf to escape her programing. Not even freaking ASKING if there is something magic can do to help is stupid, more so when is a yes or no question Taylor can ask without wasting too much time.

One completely pointless because he won't remember a thing and only make Taylor fell bad. Now if there was an option to ask our alien friends for magic healing or something it would be different.

What's the point of making a vote that will do nothing but make Taylor feel bad?
Didn't we already ask the Enforcers for help with Danny and they said they can't do much?
Also the part about it being a multi-part quest suggests that we might be able to actually help him if we do it, which is why I really want to do that.
Maybe I'm projecting. My dad died of a fatal heart attack when I was a junior in high school, and I know how badly I'd have wanted to help him if I could. We found him dead in bed, and I performed CPR, which I had just been taught how to do at the end of sophomore year, but he'd been dead for too long by the time we found him. It was too late, he passed away while we were sleeping and nobody knew until the alarm in his room went off (he snored. LOUDLY) and he did not emerge.

It does indeed. But considering that it's not under that I'm guessing it should go under a D&D standard. The DM knows something you don't know.

Guess I should change my vote
Main
[X] Daddy's Little Girl – It's been a while since you last checked on your dad. It hurts to see him and know that he doesn't and probably never will recognize you, but you should probably stomach the hurt and go to his nursing home.
[X] Burn the Sinners, part 2 – You have the information about the Fallen you wanted, specifically about the Simurgh family. Track them down. Burn them out. Leave no survivors.
Social
[X] Participate in Final Frontier as a social activity instead of a main activity
no second vote, I've stated that I can't figure out what to pick for the last option. Let the others pick.

Y'know, after the clusterfuck that was Florida and all the changes that went on Laura, Kayleigh and Missy's lives it'd be nice to have a whole chapter of them just chilling, trying to work up their new situations.

I just really like when characters can relax a bit and share some moments with each other. Remember the world trip with Missy? The Japan trip would be that but expanded!

I think Operation Pentagram has their situation handled rather well, so it's time best spent doing other things.

As much as I want Standstill's template over and done with, operation pentagram feels like a waste of time to me. Giving the team a vacation that is actually relaxing would at least be interesting.
Vote consolidation and compromise it is.
