Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Honestly at this point? I wanna see if we can level buff Serverus to the point that he can 1v1 Abbadon and win. The dude's juiced up an all the chaos god energies like his dad, and was strong enough to kill his clone dad. He might not be as strong as Chaos Horus, but he's probably really close, so Serverus will likely need 10 in all stats at the minimum, maybe get a breakthrough by bringing some stats past ten without counting equipment.

Hmmm. Do you guys know if late bloomer psykers can occur? Like Serverus becoming a psyker, or getting Conrad's future sight powers? It'd be pretty dope if we could combine foresight in combat to predict when and where someone attacks.
I'd say he can be like Dante but we'll have to see how well he does.

I have a suggestion for next turn if we can fit it into our actions. Can we have Severus teach Hostilius in Fellowship but guise it under Severus basically trying to get Hostilius to stop being so... Hostile? His resentfulness and hostility is borderline childish at times and he's going to cause a diplomatic incident sooner than later, so we should start curbing that. And if Hostilius doesn't change, we replace him.

Naw he is to good as a fleet Master you cant get rid of his trait that is just a pill we have to swallow training him in fellowship sure we can do that but that takes multiple turns he is at level 4

Besides him being him has his own charm

Will he still have his charm when he gets into a fistfight with one of our captains because he has all the social tact of a rotten apple? Or if he insults the wrong person and makes things difficult for our chapter?

I feel like he's going to cause problems for us in the Yerma campaign.

Thanks actually for bringing this up, I meant to do an omake on this earlier but forgot about it. I'll put Out of You pt 2 on the backburner for a bit while I reread and gather up the data points.

Will not come to that you are making a ant into a elephant

At this point everyone in the chapter is used how he is and if a fist fight comes then discipline will be set

And he is not the one in contact with allies he commands the ships just sideline him for any Diplomacy besides he knows how to keep his mouth around severus

And again he is a fleet master who is he going to insult and make trouble while in space in a tin brick

And who are you gonna replace him with huh

He has one of the best traits for fleet battles and a high Intelligence that like with Karark and Valzadai gets each Turn 100 exp if we keep it up he will reach legend fleet battle skill

Isn't 4 like average marine fellowship like he's an asshole but he's not so much one that his mere presence causes diplomatic issues
He also has the Resentful trait, which in practice means he's often a petty asshole.

Fellowship means nothing except how empathetic and eloquent you can be. Marcus can be nice - he chooses not to be. In prepping for writing the omake, I've found several nice little quotes where he's a complete raging dickbag for no reason I can discern. Frankly, most of the omake's problems are going to be giving him a motivation that makes him salvageable as a character worth caring about and tolerating long enough to mitigate his flaws.

It's basically just him giving credit (and fault) where it's due and being willing to accept others having better plans than him. From turn 9 deployments part 1 and turn 10 deployments part 1.

His personality is still abrasive as Hell but he's not going to be giving shit to people who are contributing as much as him or more.

That's insufficient for what he's actually saying. Here's some samples;

"Cowardice is unbecoming of a Space Marine, Pluvia." Reproaches Hostilius harshly, anger flashing in Pluvia´s eyes at the aspersions cast about his valor. "If any of the traitors are onboard, it's your duty to slay them, not to flinch at the thought of facing them."
---In response to Pluvia telling folks to be careful about assaulting a Chaos Marine-controlled space station

"Unsurprising that a faint-hearted craven such as you manages to find a silver lining to leading his men into a slaughterhouse."
---Calling Pluvia a coward for saying that diplomacy is important and the Chapter Master will be happy to have some intel

"He hears a scoff in response to that, noting that the sneer in Marcus Hostilius face has deepened. Some of the other marines, including Captains Catilina and Pluvia, glare back at him in disapproval"
---Shitting on Mikhail for daring to suggest that his company full of newbies should be split up and attached to other companies to gain experience

There's abrasive, and there's openly delivering the worst of fighting words insults to brother Marines for daring to; exercise caution, point out the value of a successful mission, and being prudent with a new command.

There's more.

Suddenly I had an Idea for Metahammer. One of the novels shall be about Lezo campaign. And it is written mostly from Mikhail point of view. During it we saw the rise of young marine to acting sergeant status. His struggles with losses in his squad and with traps and cunning of genesteelers.
We also can see glimpses about how he became a space marine not so long ago, kinda like Ragnar space wold books where we first see him as a mortal boy in vikings village. But here we see young stalker (from Metro 40k) traveling with his friends to become a spacemarine giving us insight in recruiting procedures of Mist Shrikes in the same way Ragnar did for Soace wolves in his novel.
Then we see how in Lezo campaign Mikhail meteoric rise through the ranks of the understregth Chapter, fighting against genesteleers infiltrators and named characters... struggling with losses but rising to challenge.
All the while being sure in his Ravenlord heritage. Even gazing at His image in hivecity basilica. And commenting at his shadowy foe
Until finally in the epilog he is confirmed as his company new captain. And then his real heritage and origin is revealed.
It is a gutpunch, but senior captains are very to support him as brothers should. Hugs may occur in a tearful scene, creating again similar effect of discrepancy to that of Salamanders - being outwardly frightening, while actually caring on the inside

So the novel can be compared to Ragnars novel and maybe written by the same author.

That is why you keep him away when talks do need to happen

we already have a tall marine in the form of Thrax, i would say he is about 9 feet tall considering its said he actually looms over a terminator when he is in normal aquila armor

I hope someone makes a 9ft tall space marine like the shark boi chapter master of the shark pupper marines.

I would rather have marine like Maximmion Voss who is super short but is such a gym rat that he became super swole, he got to such a swole level that his captain told him to stop bulking because they got tired to of remaking his armor so that he can fit.

YOU CAN ME A TALLER ONE! :D
Image a marine that can comically man handle a chaos marine and go "stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself" with said marines severed arm.
I dunno. I guuuueess Thrax is pretty cool. I just associate height with deadlines considering Thunder Warriors and custodes were both taller and deadlier than the average space marine.

We don't have that. Yet. Will you write an omake about a dwarf marine?

Edit: is the Codex Astares limits for 1000 active marines, 1000 living marines, or 1000 conscious marines? Cuz like, what if we put some marines in cryo stasis and order more combat boxes?
