Loyalty is its own Reward (A Traitor Legion Chapter Master Quest)

Here is a fun question, how will we arrange our fleet? With the creation of the shipyard, we will be able to create ships. From what I read on lexicanum the chapter has on average 2 to 3 battle barges, but strike cruisers are far game and more rare ships like star fortresses are also ok, just ask the firehawks.

Plus I have a feeling we will be able to upgrade our ships with stuff like teleporters (though we need terminators for that.) and maybe some other upgrades like better guns or whatever stcs we find on luctus.

As was asked @Effective Effect, so shall it be.

Color key -
Green - punctuation change
Red - spelling mistake, correction provided
Teal - unnecessary word, can be safely removed
Light green - awkward sentence structure, serviceable but can be grammatically improved.
Grey with underline - Capitalization, proper form provided
Geography of Luctus
As the clock struck midnight, Imperial administrator Ingar Belegorys sunk back into his chair. The Mist Shrikes' choice for their homeworld has saved the local Administratum quite a few months of hard work, but that didn't mean that no work had to be done and it was Ingar's and the other 56 394 assigned administratum scribes job to make sure that no data was lost or corrupted during the recategorization of Luctus into an astartes homeworld. And after pouring himself another cup of recaf Ingar went back to work.

Location: Luctus System, Subsector Raikan
Satellites: Bila Kulya
Size: No noticable difference from Terra (EN; the Administratum thrives on studious detail, they would use the actual number. If the gravity is higher, you can also make the planet a bit bigger and still have it work.)
Axial tilt: 10°
Gravity: 1.2 G
Hydrosphere: 60% of Luctus is covered in one large ocean
Temperature: 11°C on average, -30 at the poles
Terrain: Luctus is compromised of two continents, Timis in the east and Zhurka in the west. Zhurka is mostly mountainous and hilly with the Chornyy Khrebet mountain range covering the entirety of the continent's inner part. This region is inhabited by approximately 78% of the population and is where the Mist Shrikes fortress monastery is located. The continent's only realy prominent river is the Volgun which at its widest parts can reach 1 kilometers (EN; 1 kilometer what?). Most of the pre-Catastrophy settlements' ruins are located in the lowlands and coastal regions of Zhurka. When it comes to Timis there is not a lot of data, communication with the continent hads stopped nearly a century ago and scanning doesn't show any signs of human life. One thing to note is that the numerous lake formations on the continent share the same circular shape, hinting that they may be not a naturally reccurring phenomenon.

We need to prioritize building up a escort fleet. We have enough cruisers for our needs right now we need a screen of smaller (relatively) cheaper ships to act as support for what we have now.

@ThunderOwl I decided to try and add some improvements to the arsenal. Namely, I went through several of the codices, including HH ones to try and figure out which weapons can be equipped by terminators, which by dreadnoughts, and which by centurions, as well as checking which gear we should or at least could have access to but that is missing from the informational and turn options. It is about 2/3 rd done, just need to make it somewhat readable. Question is, once I am done, hopefully tomorrow or thursday, should i post it here, or in PM?

PM me, so I can check it out with more detail.

2 Frigates or 3 Destroyers per Cruiser/Battle Barge is considered standard escort strength for general purposes.
Yeah, that sounds alright. We just have to decided what mix of Hunters, Gladiuses and Novas we want.

Hunter Class Destroyer: A torpedo boat. Their job is obviously to launch torpedoes . Armed with prow mounted torpedo tubes and a turreted macrocannon battery.

Gladius Class Frigate: Fulfills the same role as the Navies sword class frigate but better. Darts into weaknesses of the enemies battle line and blast them while they're also dealing with other ships. Armed with two turreted macrocannon batteries.

Nova Class Frigate: A pure combat ship without any troop carrying or landing capacity. The Nova is armed with a turret mounted lance battery and turreted mounted Macrocannon batteries, and are used as ship hunters. People are leery of the Astartes having to many of these things because they are venturing into jobs the Navy is supposed to fill.

Well I think we should focus on Gladius' and Hunter's but have a healthy amount of Nova's. I want that extra firepower to punch through heavy targets and protect our strike cruisers. As for future ships, obviously we need more strike cruisers and battle barges.

Another question is that are we going to divide our chapter fleet to companies? Like our current BB will be the flagship of the first company?

I think we should just keep the ships on a turn to turn basis. We might want to parcel it out for bookkeeping purposes once we've got a proper fleet going but for right now I think it's fine.

I agree with that, once we've got a nice fleet we can divvy it up. Same with armory and vehicles

Unspent Rewards:
+1 added to the next Toughness check rolls for Myrok Kuthil. (Kennelmaster)
+1 to Blazing Wardens Marines Ballistic skill rolls in their next deployment alongside Severus (Death of Captain Severus of the Night Lords)
+1 to the dice results of regular Marines in their next deployment against Chaos Daemons (Lady of Contradictions Eve)
+1 Dice to Sertorius next phase (Suprise Attack)
Have these been spent?

That runs into the problem of we have to plan in advance because they cost a lot and take a lot of time to build.

Frankly I don't see a particular reason we wouldn't do an even spread due to the way the escort-to-capital numbers work out, so I think a 2:2:3 Gladius:Nova:Hunter ratio is a good setup for balancing needs with other people's opinions. Seeing as we currently have 6 capital ships, that leaves us with;
1x Battle Barge
5x Strike Cruisers
4x Gladius
4x Novas
6x Hunters
until we get more capital ships.

@ThunderOwl Would a setup like the aforementioned have people freaking out at us for being too big for our britches?

@ThunderOwl What was the extra repair die from my omake on Karark Zel used for? I checked the updates after but I couldn't find an explicit "+1 from omake" effect anywhere.

The ideal is each Company having its own fleet
And a main Chapter fleet

And a main Chapter fleet
And for comparison, this is what the Blood Ravens possessed in Torroar's quest.
1st Company Fleet:
  • Battle Barge - Omnis Arcanum [Chapter Monastery/Chapter Flagship/Ultima Librarium Sanctorum/Massive Vessel] (150 BP/Turn)
    • [13/42] Thunderhawks (x4 Transporters, x9 Gunships)
  • Strike Cruiser - Spiraling Fury
    • [6/24] Thunderhawks (x1 Transporter, x5 Gunships)
  • 5 Escorts (x2 Gladius Frigates, x2 Hunter Destroyers, x1 Nova Frigates)
2nd Company Fleet:
  • Strike Cruiser - The Howling Hatred [Company Flagship, Librarius] (50 BP/Turn)
    • [14/24] Thunderhawks (x12 Gunships, x2 Transporters)
  • Strike Cruiser - Ravenous Spirit (100 BP/Turn)
    • [10/24] Thunderhawks (x2 Transporter, x8 Gunships)
  • Strike Cruiser - Blood And Iron(75 BP/Turn) [UNAVAILABLE FOR COMBAT FOR TURN 28]
    • [6/24] Thunderhawks (x0 Transports, x6 Gunships)
  • 5 Escorts (x3 Gladius, x1 Hunter Destroyer, x1 Nova Frigates)
3rd Company Fleet:
  • Strike Cruiser - The Great Father's Fist [Company Flagship, Librarius] (0 BP/Turn)
    • [12/24] Thunderhawks (x4 Transporter, x8 Gunships)
  • 5 Escorts (x2 Gladius, x2 Hunter Destroyers, x1 Nova Frigate)
4th Company Fleet:
  • Battle Barge - Scientia Est Potentia [Company Flagship, Scientia Potentia, Librarius] (100 BP/Turn)
    • [10/36] Thunderhawks (x4 Transporters, x6 Gunships)
  • Strike Cruiser - Burning Seeker (75 BP/Turn)
    • [12/24] Thunderhawks (x4 Transporter, x8 Gunships)
  • Strike Cruiser - Legacy of Polonius [Possesses Powerful Prow Lance Turret, Additional Weapon Arrays, Eager Machine Spirit, Reduced Planetary Assault Capacity] (50/BP) [UNAVAILABLE FOR COMBAT FOR TURN 28]
    • [6/24] Thunderhawks (x5 Gunships, x1 Transporter)
  • 5 Escorts (x2 Gladius Frigates, x1 Hunter Destroyers, x2 Nova Frigates)
5th Company Fleet:
  • Battle Barge - Litany of Fury [Company Flagship, Sanctorium Arcanum - Relic Astropathic Choir, Librarius] (75 BP/Turn) [UNAVAILABLE FOR COMBAT FOR TURN 28]
    • [13/36] Thunderhawks (x3 Transporters, x10 Gunships)
  • Strike Cruiser - Rage of Erudition (50 BP/Turn)
    • [14/24] Thunderhawks (x1 Transporte, x13 Gunships)
  • 6 Escorts (x3 Gladius Frigates, x2 Hunter Destroyers, x1 Nova Frigate)
10th Company Fleet:
  • Strike Cruiser - Faith's Horizon [Company Flagship, Librarius] (50 BP/Turn)
    • [8/24] Thunderhawks (x5 Transporters, x3 Gunships)
  • 3 Escorts (x2 Gladius Frigates, x1 Nova Frigate)
Now, in fairness to them, the Blood Ravens are a fleet-based Chapter, so they're expected to have a large number of ships. But they're also still significantly depleted compared to how they were a few centuries prior.

The thing with the Nightfall is that it was last seen during the Thramas Crusade where it was heavily damaged and possibly ether lost or destroyed no one knows, so my headcanon at the moment is that its in an Alien situation where its just adrift in space with warp drive down and the surviving night lords (if there are any) have lost their minds and are just roaming the ship killing anything they can find.
