Ghost Division Parody (Azeazyazitgetz)

Ghost Division Parody (lyrics taken from official website) (this is an almost perfect fit)

Fast as the wind, the naval invasion has begun
Shaking the ground with the force of hundreds of guns
First in the line of fire, first into hostile land
Ships leading the way, leading the way!

Charging the lines in the force of a furious storm
Fast as the lighting cavalry swarm
Palermo assaulted at nightfall, taken within a day
Thus earning the name, earning the fame

[Chorus:]
They are the French elite, born to compete, never retreat! ( Le Corps d'Acier Trempé!)
Living or dead, always ahead, fed by your dread!

Always ahead, as the battle rages on
Breaking morale with the sound of blazing guns
First in the line of fire, first into hostile land
Ships leading the way, leading the way!

Leaving a trail of destruction through a foreign city
(Waging war with conviction)
Massive assault live to serve Thérèse's plan!
(France's pride, Le Corps d'Acier Trempé!)
Communications broken, Davout's men too far away
Thus earning the name, earning the fame

[Chorus]

Pushing the line forth with a tremendous force!
(Far ahead, breaks resistance)
Breaching the way for steel corps!
(Shows no fear, self-subsistent)
First in the line of fire, first into hostile land
Ships leading the way, claiming the fame!

[Chorus]

France's elite, born to compete, never retreat (Le Corps d'Acier Trempé)!
Living our dead, always ahead, fed by your dread!

Well...it has come to this now, has it?

Damn you, Robby...!

I know right? It's one thing to try and coup us...it's another to do that literally HOURS AFTER BRIAN took a leave of absence to deal with Family...OUR FAMILY.

Sending that Riot is just poor form. Not to mention starting a Civil War just to get back at us is REALLY short-sighted.

It's ROBBIE ROTTEN. What did you expect?

We REALLY should've killed Mr. "TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!" when we had the Chance.

Yeah, but there's no use lamenting that now. Let's just hope that the Civil War will be over quickly...

If only Brian had been a bit more willing to compromise on his Ideals, maybe we could've avoided this mess.

Hey, don't talk shit about our Brother-in Law and BFF, Guys. He's not very good at the day to day politics, sure, but the rest... I mean look at his Domestic Policy, its better then ours! He even made Civil Unions between Homosexuals legal...in 1795!! To say nothing of his Paris Police idea!

Hey, I'm not saying he was bad. But he quit his Job, albeit for sympathetic reasons, at a time when he could not afford to do so. His Idealism, while noble, aided Robespierre in doing what he just did.

Yeah, Brian is...not in the best place right now mentally. He blames himself quite a bit for the mess we are now in. And his belief in the Republic and the People has taken a massive blow.

I'd tell him 'I told you so!'...but I think the best course of Action right now is to tell him instead of blaming himself, dig himself out of it.

Agreed. And hey, with all that outta the way, maybe he'll be willing to support us fully now.

The Republic has failed. It was a beautiful dream and, were we all better men, it may have even worked.

But we are not and it didn't. The Revolution must survive, but it can't be with a Republic. Not anymore.

The time for the Rise of an Empire...has come.

*Rolls for Allegiances*

...Okay then. Not what I expected, but...not bad at all.

You wanna have some general Infos on what happened?

GIVE US THE CHAOS ROLLS!! ITS A FREE FOR ALL NOW! Also Yes.

ALRIGHT...so:

Almost every General and Military Leader currently residing in France rolled to support you. The only exceptions are Bessieres, Soult, Desaix, Adam Philippe, MacDonald and Marmont, who have sided with Robespierre.
In addition, the Army of the Rhine, the Army of the Pyrenees and the Veterans of the Army of the North and the (now dissolved) Army of Italy have ALL decided to join you. Only the fresh Recruits of the Army of the North and, of course, the National Guard support Robespierre.

On the other hand, most of the Civilian Administration is on Robespierres side, though quite a few of them only because he will put them and their loved ones all on the Guillotine if they refuse.
However, Jean-Baptiste Topino-Lebrun, Paul Barras, Antoine Louis Albitte and your Brother Lucien have sided with you.

OOF, at least two Marshals are against us... But that's nothing we can't handle! Not when we have ALL the Officers!

Two or three Marshals is nothing compared to all the other Marshals we have. And frankly, the Marshals that Robby has now are (relatively) little to worry about, since they weren't THAT impressive in OTL. Not to mention that we have basically ALL the Veterans on our side.

I'm glad our Brother came through for us. Barras surprises me, seeing how much he was against OTL-Napoleon later, but I'll take it.

Also, Lannes rolled a Nat!100 to support you. As if we needed any more proof that he's a Bro for life.

Hold on...did Robe capture anyone? And if yes, who?

Bad News is, Robby rolled well enough that he got a Chance to capture some of your Supporters.

Good news is, he only managed to catch two: Barras and Kellermann.

Hm. Not ideal, but not as bad as I thought...well, onto the next situation. We can only hope there is some more good news out of this.

*Rolls*

...*smiles* Well, well, well...

...You rolled for our Goddess of War, haven't you? TELL US SHE'S RETURNING!!

Army of the Orient Allegiance: 100
Therese Auclair-Reaction: 100

"Sir! SIR!"

You look up from your desk. "What is it, Pierre? I thought I asked not to be disturbed, unless it's vitally important-"

"The Army of the Orient, Sir...it has returned to France!"

...You try your hardest to not break out into a bright grin. "...Tell me more, Pierre."

After yours and Robespierre's differing Orders, Therese Auclair was uncertain on what to do.
Then, however, the Pope excommunicated her entire Army over flimsy charges and for political reasons...while Robespierre sent her a letter, ordering her to hand over the Royal Children for execution.
Now, she is on the Warpath. Half her army has sailed to Rome under Davouts command, accompanied by the Royal Children, to...'convince' the Pope to rethink his Decision.
The other half of the Army, 50.000 battle-hardened Soldiers under Therese's personal Leadership, has landed in Southern France and promptly declared for your cause. She is marching to Lyon to link up with you and will arrive after this Turn. All of her Sub-Commanders, Davout, Severin, Murat, Chamans, etc. have agreed to follow her Decision.
The Heroine of Valmy, the Conqueror of Sicily and the entire Army of the Orient are on your side.

A.N.: Remember when I said that Robby sent another letter to Therese?
Yeah...it was a Crit-Fail on his part.
Therese is in full-blown Mama-Bear mode and she is DONE with his shit.
You dun goofed, Robby. You dun goofed HARD.

...AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAA!!!

...ULTIMATE WAIFU PULLS THROUGH AGAIN!!

Seriously, if there ever was a Girl I'd unironically simp for, it's Therese Auclair!! Screw Josephine, there is only one Woman in all of France who deserves to be our Empress!!

We need to marry this Girl. We NEED to marry this Girl ASAP!

Seriously, guys, when a Woman comes to your aid in a Civil War with her ENTIRE fucking Army, then she's the one!

A.N.: And here we go, my first Napoleon-Negaverse-Omake, written together with @Cyberphilosipher. Hope you all like it.

Oversimplified-Omake: The Napoleonic Wars - The Beginning of the French Civil War

Narrator: "After Therese and her Squad had given Ferdinand III. the boot (Shows her and her Officers kicking Ferdinand III. so hard he flies out of the screen) they immediately began to turn Sicily into a new Sister Republic. (Sicily is turned light blue on the map) You might expect that the People there were very hostile to their new French Overlords. However, they seemed to be over the Moon instead. (The surprised Army of the Orient is greeted by a Crowd of cheering Citizens) Ferdinand had not been well liked and the People of Sicily were quite glad to be rid of him. (The Map shows Europe, a Peace-Symbol rising above it) With Sicily and Naples defeated, the War of the First Coalition was finally over. The French Republic stood victorious, having triumphed over it's foes and beaten them soundly. Everything was coming up France and Europe was AT PEACE. (Cheers can be heard and triumphant Music plays as Confetti flies through the air...before it all is interrupted by a record-needle scratch) ...For about five seconds."

(Therese is sitting in her command tent, once again reading letters.)

Therese (chuckles): "Oh, Napoleon...you know, I'm starting to like reading your Poems. You're even slowly getting better. Once my Job in Egypt is done and I'm back home, maybe we can go on another date and-"

Davout (bursts into the tent): "General Auclair! I have urgent news!"

Therese: "Good News or bad News?"

Davout: "...Uuuummm...b-bad. VERY bad."

Therese (groans): "For God's sake, what is it this time?"

Davout: *takes a deep breath*

Narrator: "As it turned out, the Pope had seen it fit to excommunicate the ENTIRE Army of the Orient. (The Pope can be seen signing an Order for Excommunication) Soldiers, Officers, even Camp Followers. As Reasons, he stated their "savagery" in annihilating the Sicilian and Neapolitan Army."

(Angry Soldiers can be seen in Camp.)

Soldier 1: "WHAT?! That's bullshit! We've done no worse then any other Army in Europe has! Why do we get singled out?!"

Soldier 2: "Because the Pope is a conservative Prick who hates both the French Revolution and our female General!"

Soldier 3: "Does this Idiot even realize that he just excommunicated the Children of the late Louis XVI., because they too serve in our Army?!"

Soldier 1: "No, but...w-wait, why do we know that? We're just low-level Grunts and-"

Soldier 2: "SHHH!!"

Narrator: "Needless to say, the Soldiers were furious. Louis and Charlotte were furious. And Therese. Was. FURIOUS. (We see the Figures of French Soldiers, Louis and Charlotte and Therese switching places on-screen, each of them exclaiming "I'm furious!")"

(Back in Therese's tent; she glares angrily at a Map of Italy.)

Therese: "So, Mr. Pope-Man, you think you can excommunicate me, my whole Army AND my kids while we are just a small ways away, huh? Yeah, I think it's time to pay the Holy See a visit and show him why that was a REALLY dumb idea. (She turns to Davout) Davout, you'll take half the Army and go to Rome."

Davout: "At once, General, but...there's more. We have received three letters. One from Bonaparte and two from Robespierre, all in their Positions as Consuls."

Therese: "Really? What do they say?"

Davout: "Well...Bonaparte asks that we return to France immediately. Robespierre, by contrast orders us to continue our Campaign and stay away. We're not sure why."

Therese (concerned): "Hmmm...what to do? Do I follow Napoleon's Orders or Robespierre's? Both have the right to give me such an Order, so what do I-"

Davout: "Also...Robespierre orders you in his second Letter to hand the Royal Children over to him so that they may be executed."

(Silence. Then Therese's figure starts to shake with anger as her eyes narrow.)

Therese (sickly sweet voice through gritted teeth): "...Does. He. Now. Huh? Well...in that case, I shall answer him. In Person. With an ENTIRE FRIGGIN ARMY!!!"

Narrator: "And so, Davout lead half of the Army of the Orient to Rome to say Hi to the Pope, while a Therese in full-blown angry Mom-Mode returned to France with the other half. (We see a VERY confused looking man) Now, I know what you're thinking: 'But Oversimplified! Why would Robespierre order something so incredibly dumb?' Well, to answer that Question, we'll have to see what's up in Paris right now. (Paris is literally on fire, with People running around in panic and Robespierre standing on a Guillotine-Platform and repeatedly chanting "TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!" while pointing at random People on the street) ...Uh-oh."

(A few days prior in Brians Office...)

Napoleon: "Y-you're going to do what?!"

Brian: "I'm abdicating as the first Consul."

Napoleon: "B-but...I...you can't...why?!?"

Brian: "Because One, I never really wanted this Job in the first Place. Two, I want some private time with my wife and Child. And three, because I don't believe I should lead the Republic after I overthrew one of their Governments. Let the People decide for a new leader, I'm sure they will chose wisely."

Napoleon: "But Brian! Robespierre will pounce on this Chance! He will seize control of Government, riling the People up to his side and then put you, me and everyone else who ever stood against him on the Guillotine-"

Pierre: "Sir...I'm afraid Brian has already left before you finished talking."

(And indeed, Brian is already gone.)

Napoleon (deep and long-suffering sigh): "...Pierre. Get ready to move out of Paris. And tell Ney to save Brian's ass once everything crashes down."

Narrator: "And crash down everything did. Robespierre immediately seized control of the Government and the National Guard before riling a Mob of People up to go and deliver him his hated foe Brian Auclair. (Robespierre points a few angry People at Brian and says "Get him!") However, Colonel Ney, the man who had overthrown the Directory, managed to sneak Brian outta the City (Brian and Ney leap over the Walls of Paris, dressed in Ninja Clothes) and together, they linked up with Napoleon in Lyon. Brian felt very guilty for what happened, blaming himself for this mess. But Napoleon, like any good Friend, told him: "Stop feeling sorry for yourself and instead help me set things straight again!" That cheered Brian up a bit. (Shows Brian looking down in shame, then Nappy placing a hand on his shoulder and then Brian smiling again) Together, they managed to rally most of the Military and Parts of the Government to their side. (The Map shows France Split between Robby's Government and Nappy's Supporters) Robespierre declared Napoleon and Brian Traitors to the Revolution and the Republic. A Civil War was now inevitable. And Robespierre quickly got back up to his old tricks again."

(Robespierre faces a bunch of Advisors who bring him News.)

Advisor 1: "Robespierre, much of the Military and especially experienced Veterans and Leaders have sided with Napoleon, as well as Parts of the Government."

Robespierre: "Grrrrrr...!! Dirty Traitors! I'll show them! I'll show them all! I will put them on the Guillotine once they're beaten! EVERYONE WHO'S AGAINST ME AND THE REPUBLIC GOES TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!"

Advisor 1: "...E-everyone...?"

Robespierre: "EVERYONE!!"

Advisor 2: "All the Politicians and Generals who sided against you?"

Robespierre: "TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!"

Advisor 3: "All those who were against you before and only support you right now because you threatened them and their Families, as well as the Children of the former King?"

Robespierre: "TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!"

Advisor 4 (bursts in): "Sir! General Auclair and her whole Army have sided with Napoleon and are returning back to France!"

Robespierre (points at him): "TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!"

Advisor 4: "W-wait, me or General Auclair and her Army?"

Robespierre: "YES!!!"

Advisor 5: "Sir-"

Robespierre (points at him): "TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!"

Advisor 5 (frightened): "B-but, Sir! I just wanted to tell you that your Whig has shifted a bit."

Robespierre (slightly embarrassed): "O-oh... (He rights his Whig again) Right. Thank you. (After a long silence, he points at him again) ...TO THE GUILLOTINE!!!"

A.N.: What can I say? The Muse struck me.

Negaverse: "I will rule the Universe!", a Napoleon-Quest; Turn 16: Le début de la guerre civile; Part 3

*rolls for Therese accepting the Proposal*

...Gentlemen...you got her.

She said yes.

YES YES YES!! WE DID IT! She'll bring out the BEST IN US! I KNOW IT!

Well, we have achieved one of the things we were after. I just hope she doesn't mind our Plans for the Wedding/Coronation.

...Worries aside, YES!! YES!!! With her by our side, NOTHING shall stop us!

Well, except her.

Let me make one thing clear: Married or not, Therese does NOT plan to just go along with whatever you do. When she said she wants this to be a partnership of equals, she meant it. If you do things she disapproves of, she WILL call you out on it and use her Influence with Nappy to change his mind.

Ya'll wanted an Empress worthy of the Title, you're gonna get one. She will neither be a Trophy nor a Subordinate to you.

But if you and her manage to truly work together as equals...then yes, NOTHING (outside of the ever-fickle Dice Gods) can stop you.

Well she may not like it, but we've made this bed and have to lay in it, FOR FRANCE!

Well, to be fair, she...MIGHT not disapprove too much of your Plans for the Wedding and France. Despite her Republicanist Tendencies, her Loyalty is to France first and foremost. If she believes your Actions will bring stability to it and help it's People, then she'll be fine with them.

Of course, the Roll for the Reaction to the Wedding would have to be VERY high for her to just accept the Coronation that comes with it, so...we'll see.

Speaking of...of...w-which...

*stares at the Rolls for the Wedding and the Night after for a good long Minute*

...Okay, which one of you sold their Soul to the Dice Gods?! Jesus Christ!!

I take it that the Wedding went well, our plan went off without a hitch and we gave our Goddess of Victory a night she won't forget?

'Went well'? WENT WELL?! That is the understatement of the Century! Do you wanna know the Roll for the Wedding/Coronation?!

THREE. CRITICAL. ROLLS. IN SUCCESSION!! WITH TWO NAT100's!!

380 was the final Result, for crying out loud!! And your Boni pushed even the Roll for the Wedding Night over 100! The Dice just blew all my Plans to pieces like it was an Austrian Army marching towards your Artillery!!

HOW?!?!?!

We're Napoleon Bonaparte. NOTHING ON EARTH WILL STOP US! And the Dice agree.

...WELL. It seems our Plans and our Marriage have explicit approval by the Dice Gods. Nice.

What's the Reaction to our Coronation?

Basically...pretty much everyone in your France agrees with it, from the Soldiers to the People to the Politicians. Everyone is cheering for their new Emperor and Empress. Including the Royalists, who hold out hope that you will adopt Louis as the Heir.

Robby loses almost any Legitimacy he may have possessed. Practically every Government in Europe regards you as the more Legitimate Authority in France. Of course, the Coalition is still coming after you so, you know, baby steps.

Robespierre's Forces are utterly demoralized. Not only do they realize that their Situation is practically hopeless, but the fear that the Republic is truly dead forever now is slowly sinking in.

As for Robbie Rotten himself? He is something BEYOND furious.

Before you all start cheering, that's not necessarily a good thing. He may very well decide to ramp up the bloodshed out of pure hatred and fear.

And if he does so...the first to be put on the Guillotine may be a Woman who is the Sister of one and the Wife of the other of the two Men he hates the most. If he gets REALLY bloodthirsty...he may even decide that just her will not be enough. The Guillotine chops off the head of a Baby just as easily as that of an adult after all.

In short...your Sister, Brian's Wife, and their Baby-Daughter may die for your move here.

Well then, once things get sorted out, we march on Paris!!

Agreed! Like hell we're gonna let Robby kill our Sister and Niece!!

And if we're too late...we'll wreak dread vengeance a thousandfold!

Brian would be way ahead of you.

Seriously, if Robespierre were to murder his Family...Brian would commence a slaughter that would make Stalin's Great Purge look cute.

Well that's a bad thing. We need to stop killing our Countrymen. We need them alive so the plan will work.

Yeah, that clinches it. To Paris, on the double!

By the way, what will Therese do? And if it's something we disapprove of, can we convince her otherwise?

You can try, but I doubt you will want to in this case.

She's planning on marching with her Forces to meet the Army of the North near Orleans.

She will either convince Marmont and his Forces to switch sides...or destroy them if they refuse.

Well, we wish her luck.

Indeed.

Now...onwards, my Friends! For France!! For Glory!! For our Waifu-er, I mean, for Liberty!!

A.N.: Once again, written by me an @Cyberphilosipher. I hope you all like it!

Oversimplified-Omake: Napoleonic Wars - The French Civil War

Narrator: "When Therese and half of her Army returned to France, they expected to just give Robespierre and his Forces a good ol' Smackdown and sort everything out rather quickly. What they did not expect however was all of Europe being ON FIRE. (Map shows all of Europe engulfed in Flames)
See, the end of the War of the First Coalition had left it's Losers, especially Great Britain, rather mad. (Great Britain is glaring at France) And with France having now collapsed into Civil War, the British felt that now was the PERFECT Moment for Revenge.

(Scene shows the British Prime Minister and the Monarchs of Europe gathering in their Conference-Room)

Prime Minister (clears his throat): "Hrm, hrm...fellow European Monarchs! I'm sure you all remember the utter humiliation we suffered between a year and a month ago at the hands of this French 'Republic'."

Frederick Wilhelm III.: "Tell me about it! My Army got their Ass kicked by some Women dressing like a General!"

Ferdinand III.: "You think YOU had it bad?! She DESTROYED all my Forces and took Sicily away from me!"

Francis II.: "And those Bastards Auclair and Bonaparte captured almost my entire Army and forced me into a humiliating Treaty!"

Prime Minister (sighs): "I know and share your Pain..especially after our Diplomats screwed up so spectacularly."

Alexander I. (shrugs): "I mean, they did nothing to me or Russia..."

Frederick Wilhelm III: (glares at him): "Well, how NICE for you..."

Prime Minister: "At any Rate...I know this sucked. For all of us. BUT! But...I have an Idea. Since those dirty Revolutionaries are currently beating each others Skulls in...let's all form a new Coalition and kick them down into the dirt!"

(Stunned Silence)

Francis II.: "...WHHHAAAAATT?!? Are you crazy?! I had to pay the French a huge amount of Money and my forces are still shaken and demoralized from the last defeat!"

Alexander I.: "MY Country just came out of a Civil War!"

Frederick Wilhelm III.: "Granted, we didn't fare so badly since we made peace...but even then, we are still restructuring our Forces!"

Charles IV. of Spain: "And all of our Colonies are currently up in Rebellion!"

Ferdinand III.: "...I mean, I would like to get Sicily back, but...right now, I only have one Division of broken, demoralized troops."

Alexander I.: "In short: Despite France's current Issues, we are in HORRIBLE Positions to attack. Why should we throw all caution out of the window and go to War again?!"

Francis II.: "Face it, there is nothing you can say that will-"

Prime Minister (reveals a GIANT stack of Money by pulling away the curtains behind him): "Go to War with France right now and we'll give you THIS."

Alexander I.: "...Well, when you put it like that..."

Narrator: "And so the Second Coalition formed to take advantage of the French Civil War and regain control of the continent. (Map shows most of Europe turning red against France's blue) They hoped to use the Chaos in France to strike at the French while they were disorganized and weak. Unfortunately for them, however, that Window of Opportunity would prove far narrower then anyone realized.
In France, meanwhile, Therese and her Forces had reached Lyon, where her Brother and Napoleon had currently made Camp.

(Scene shows Napoleon, Brian and other Officers discussing things over a map)

Pierre (comes in): "Sirs!"

Napoleon: "What is it, Pierre? We're a bit busy right now. What's so important that it can't wait?"

Pierre: "I just thought you'd like to know...General Auclair has returned with half of her Army and is currently waiting outside the door."

Napoleon (eyes go wide as he blushes): "O-oh god...oh god...! (He whirls around to Lannes and Brian) I look good, right?! Please tell me I look good!"

Brian: "Napoleon, seriously, compose yourself a bit!"

Lannes: "Yeah! Just be yourself and greet her when she comes in. All will be fine."

Napoleon (takes a deep breath): "Y-you're right...you're right...I can do this. Pierre, please let her in."

(A large Banner saying "WILL YOU MARY ME?" is in the forefront as Therese walks in)

Therese: "Alright, we have a massive Situation in the North and West. We need to move quickly and-"

(She sees Napoleon with stars in his Anime-Eyes)

Therese: "...Brian, what the hell is this?"

Brian: "He's asking you to marry him because he loves you...and also because he wants to use your massive Popularity as a Propaganda-Tool for his cause."

Therese: "If I say yes, can we get back to work and save France?"

Napoleon: "We will, I swear!!"

Therese: "Then yes."

Napoleon: "YES!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-"

(Meanwhile in the USA)

-EEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!"

George Washington (to Alexander Hamilton): "...Alexander, what on Earth was that?"

Alexander Hamilton: "I have no idea...though if I had to guess: Someone just assumed sheer executive authority over another. With consent."

Narrator: "Right after that, Napoleon and Therese married in Lyon...where Napoleon took the Opportunity and crowned himself and his Wife Emperor and Empress of the French People. (Napoleon places Crowns on his and Therese's head) And they did so under thundering APPLAUSE. (The People in the Audience all cheer)
Both Napoleon and Therese were highly beloved and respected figures in France. The People largely met their Coronation with joy and jubilation. It probably also helped that, by all accounts, Napoleon's and Therese's Marriage had a genuinely great start. (Therese and Napoleon smile at each other) This helped reinforce the look of an awesome Power-Couple stepping up to save France when it stood on the brink of Disaster, enticing even more People to their side. Even the Royalists joined them, reasoning that siding with the Woman who was now basically the legal Guardian of who they considered the rightful King of France was the best call to make right now. (Shows the figure of a Royalist stepping next to Therese and Napoleon...before also showing a fuming Robespierre) And if you thought old Robby was angry before...hoooo boy..."

Robespierre (his figure facing Therese and Napoleon): "Why you...you!! TRAITORS!! TYRANTS!! I WILL PUT YOU ALL ON THE GUILLOTINE FOR THIS!!!"

Therese: "Yeah, except almost the entire Military sided with us. So...you and what Army, Robby?"

Robespierre (triumphantly): "THE ARMY OF THE NORTH OF COURSE!!! MARMONT WILL SOON FINISH TRAINING THEM AND THEN HE SHALL CRUSH YOU AND-"

Napoleon: "You mean, the Army that Therese fought alongside not too long ago? Who still admire and look up to her? Who regard her as a Hero and a Legend, especially since it consists mostly of fresh, easily impressed Recruits? THAT Army?"

Robespierre: "...W-wait, wha-"

Napoleon (turning to Therese): "Love, do you think you can take care of this while Brian and I march on Paris?"

Therese: "Sure thing, Hubby."

Narrator: "Therese met the Army of the North, commanded by General Marmont, outside of Orleans on her birthday. She held one heartfelt, passionate speech that, reportedly, drove Marmont and many of his Soldiers to tears. (The Scene shows Therese holding her Speech, with the expressions of Marmont and his Soldiers - except for one Commissar - going from angry to neutral to sad to openly weeping and dropping their Weapons) She hoped to convince them to give up without a fight. (The still angry-looking Commissar shoots her, to the shock of everyone else) And aside from one angry Commissar shooting and wounding her, it went swimmingly. Also, said Commissar was immediately torn to shreds by the angry Recruits. (Shows bug-eyed Commissar getting swarmed by angry Soldiers with Bayonets)
All in all a victory for France. And Napoleon was about to win no less great a Victory at Paris...by showing mercy."

(Scene shows the Defenders of Paris waiting and facing Napoleon's and Brian's Army)

Commissar: "Soldiers of the Republic! The false Emperor, the Traitor Bonaparte, has reached the City! Marmont is on the way here, but he and his army may be too late! All of us shall die in glorious defense of the Republic, for that Corsican Ogre will never show us mercy!"

Napoleon (steps forward): "Hey there, Guys! I just wanted to tell you all that my Wife convinced Marmont and his Army to switch sides to us. Also, I COULD easily storm the City and have my Veterans kill you all. But you know what? I'm not a Butcher like that Guillotine-Enthusiast. So, here's the deal: Everyone who surrenders now will not only not be harmed, but also face no consequences whatsoever for siding with Robespierre at first. What do you think of that?"

Commissar: "HAH! Fat Chance, Tyrant! You only face loyal Children of the Republic here, who would rather die for it then surrender it to you! Right, Guys?! (He turns around with a worried look as his Words are only met with Silence) G-guys...?"

Soldier (raises a hand): "...Can we kill the Commisars?"

Napoleon (smiles and Winks): "They resisted arrest, so...go right ahead."

(The Soldiers all smirk as they point their Weapons at the Commissar)

Commissar: "...OoooOhhHhh NoooOooo-!!"

Narrator: "And so, the French Civil War ended with two Speeches and without a single actual fight. Napoleon and Brian entered Paris, freed all the political Prisoners - including Napoleon's Sister, Brian's Wife - and offically reunited the Country. (France becomes whole again on the Map) A STUNNING Success! (We see a Figure in Ninja-Clothes swoop in, throw a sack over Robespierre and carry him away) There was only one Issue."

(Scene shows the Tulieries Palace)

Brian: "WHAT?! What do you mean, 'Robespierre is gone'?!?"

Pierre: "I'm saying that he somehow escaped the City and is now on the Run. He may have had help."

Brian: "Oh that DAMN-!!"

Napoleon: "Calm down, Brian. He can't have gotten far. We'll get him soon enough, maybe even before he can truly leave France. Right now, we have to strengthen our political position and fend off the Coalition."

Brian (sighs): "...Fine. You're right. Let's just hope no more urgent critical Situations arise-"

Messenger (comes in): "Uh, just to let you know: The Austrians pushed back Massena in Italy and the Prussians destroyed the Army of the Netherlands."

Brian (groans in frustration): "Could we maybe just get ONE break?!"

General, Empress, Icon. The Impact of Therese Auclair on POP Culture; Part 1: The Empress and the Amazon (Alexander Sturnn)
General, Empress, Icon. The Impact of Therese Auclair on POP Culture; Part 1: The Empress and the Amazon

"A Life is only as good as what we leave in our wake."
-Therese Auclair

Words to live by in many regards.

And perhaps no time in History embodied the Spirit of these Words more then the late 18th and early 19th Century. From the Formation of the United States to the French Revolution, the Rise and Fall of the First French Republic and the Ascension of the First French Empire, the World was shaped and changed forever by the Actions of the Men and Women living in this turbulent time. Centuries-old Regimes were toppled, ancient societal Norms overturned and radical new Ideas brought forth.
Yet at the same time, it was an Age of Violence, of War and of ruthless Ambition, with great Armies clashing to decide the Future of the World and single Individuals holding the Fate of Nations in their Hands, changing it forever. It was a time when even those of most humble Origin could seize their chance and rise to unimaginable heights.
One of these Individuals was perhaps the most peculiar and unforeseen out of them all. One single Woman, coming from nothing while living in a deeply patriarchal Society...and who, defying all Norms and Standards of the time, rose to the top of an Empire by nothing but her own Merits.

That Woman was Therese Auclair, later Bonaparte. General of the Republic, Marshal of France and Empress of the French People.

The Mark that this Women left on history and on societal Norms cannot be denied. When she took command of the Battle at Valmy alongside her Brother, the Idea of a Woman acting outside of her designated Roles, even in Revolutionary France, was utterly impossible. The fact that she did it anyway, and with such great Success, left an impact that is felt to this day in many fields...including in POP Culture.

The perhaps earliest example of the POP Culture surrounding Therese Auclair were the Novels about her and her exploits, that were written and published during her Lifetime.

The most popular were French Novels written by Princess Charlotte Capet while she was living with her and during her "London Holiday".
Though reportedly, Therese herself strongly disliked these books. One Anecdote even claims that she once snapped at someone asking her about them that, if she had time for it, she would track every last copy of them down and toss them into a fire. Perhaps unsurprising, given her depiction in most of them as a savage, bloodthirsty Amazon Warrior-Woman.

But these are only some examples of her legacy while alive and in power.

Another is the Empress In Uniform Painting (Created in 1796), which shows the Empress in full military dress and service uniform, made approximently a month after the birth of her first children. In fact, one can see the baby hand grabbing her pinky finger. It must have been difficult to make.

More dramatically we have "The Amazon in Berlin" (Created in Spoiler), which shows her leading her Army in a Victory Parade under the Brandenberg Gate in Berlin.

The Painting was commissioned by her Husband, in honor of her Victory. The resentful, angry glares of the Prussians standing at the side as the victorious French Army parades through their Capital are rather reflective of the bitterness and resentment that this Event created among the Prussians for Therese Auclair.
For one and a half century, this resentment colored Prussian and, to an extent, later German Opinions about Therese. Adolf Hitler even ordered the Painting destroyed after the Fall of Paris during World War Two, though thankfully it was saved by Members of the French Resistance.

"A Nation that can be beaten by Woman is no nation. It is a Gaggle of Tribes pretending to be men. Once this mistake is forgotten, all will be made right."
-Joseph Goebbles, 1940

Her Impact reaches far beyond her own lifetime. Between Military and Cultural successes of her day, she is the modern day archetype of Women of Action and Femininity, inspiring the likes of Major Sarah Edmonds Seelye during the Civil War, and other female American and French Officers in the 19th, 20th and 21st Century. Her Person was the subject and inspiration of countless Films, Novels, Theater Plays and later even Video Games.

Her perhaps most well-known contribution to modern POP Culture however is as the Inspiration for the Detective Comics Super Heroine 'Wonder Woman'.

It's well known that Dr. Marston wanted to create something that could inspire and move people to action, with the myth of the Amazon being the powerful base to use, but lacked an archetype.

Thankfully Empress Bonaparte was there to guide the struggle, with an intelligent mind, commanding presence and a sense of gentleness most comics of the time lacked.

This Inspiration for the Character most clearly shows during the first years of her Comic-Series, which dealt with Wonder Woman, or Princess Diana as she was named in-Universe, working with the CIA and the Resistance to fight the Nazis in occupied France.

The most blatant indicator for this Inspiration is the Comic Scene in Wonder Woman dresses in the Empress's uniform to inspire a resistance uprising.

"Out there, the bloody standards of the greatest Tyrant this World has ever known are raised over your Cities. Out there, in your countryside, his hosts march as they please, to murder and pillage wherever they go! They march beneath a cursed Hooked Cross to grind the very Spirit of France into dust! They march under the Orders of their Führer, who wishes all concepts of Freedom to be eradicated from this World and plunge it into the Darkness of Tartarus! And they march out of fear, because deep in their hearts they know that, if the People of France where to rise up as one, they would not be able to stand against them!
Over a hundred years ago, the Woman who's Uniform I wear saw these very same things. She saw her beloved Homeland invaded and threatened by Tyrants and Madmen. Did she cower? Did she resign herself to her fate? No. She found the Courage to stand up and say "Enough!". She fought to the last breath to preserve this Nation and it's People. She inspired the People of this Nation to follow her. And together, against all odds, they triumphed against Tyranny!
Soldiers, Citizens, Workers of France! The eyes of the World lie upon you! The Princess of Themyscira and the might of the United States of America stand with you! And these Tyrants, no matter how hard they try, can never extinguish the Flame of Freedom that I know burns inside you and your Nation! So harness the Power of this Flame...and strike with the might of Zeus' Thunderbolts!
RISE, PEOPLE OF FRANCE! RISE LIKE YOUR ANCESTORS DID AND RECLAIM YOUR FREEDOM! VIVE LA FRANCE!!!"

-Sensation Comics Issue 25; published in February 1944: Wonder Woman, wearing the Uniform of Empress Therese Auclair, inspires a large Force of French Resistance Fighters to help her in attacking a Nazi-Military Base where the SS is trying to create an Army of genetically modified Super Soldiers

In the first Wonder Woman TV Show (1973), this Scene was one of the stand out moments of the Pilot Episode.

The Character of Wonder Woman would go through many Iterations, Reinventions and Adaptations over the following Decades. However, all of these have one consistent Factor: At some point, a Connection between the Character and either France or the Historical Figure of Empress Therese is established.
It is perhaps unsurprising that Wonder Woman is the most beloved and well-known American Super Hero in France. Even during her first years, she enjoyed great Popularity there, with Louis, Prince Napoleon (the then Head of House Bonaparte, who died in 1997) being an avid Reader of the Comic and an enthusiastic Supporter of the Character.

And while Wonder Woman became more American-centric after the war, the Legacy of the Empress on her Character was felt even in her most recent appearances in the 2020s.

The widespread impact that Therese Auclair had on both societal Norms and popular Culture cannot be denied. Wonder Woman is merely the most well known and most blatant example of a fictional Character taking inspiration from her...but by far not the only one.

Next time on this Documentary: Princess Leia and the balancing act between Stateswoman, General and Princess.

The Bad Ending: A Negaverse Quest.
The Bad Ending: A Negaverse Quest.

The Year is 1815, the Year of our Lord.

For the last 20 years, Europe has been engulfed in the flames of Revolution and War, with Emperor Napoleon leading France in wars to secure his empire, the influence of France itself, and to destroy the great and hated enemy of France, Great Britain.

But he went too far. In Russia, the destruction of Moscow proved to be what turned a war of influence into a war that would shatter Europe.

Alexander of Russia had gone to his comrades of the fellow European monarchs with a simple goal. The removal of France's sphere of influence, and the Destruction of its Empire.

Despite desperate, heroic fighting from the Emperor, and his army, his marshals, and allies, nothing could have prepared the men for the horrors of the Retreat.

The Grand Armee died in Russia.

But even the destruction of the French Army could not sate the bloodlust of the Russian Tsar. For something broke in him with the loss of Moscow. Of the hell of Borodino, and the retreat that should have killed the Emperor of the French and all of his officers.

Revenge, not politics clouded and covered his every thought. He had been betrayed, he had been beaten, and he had listened to his more…

Radical ministers. Paris would meet the fate of Moscow, burned to the ground, its citizens fleeing before the Russian Cossacks that would do what they did best, inspire terror in their enemies.

Leipzig, the battle of the Three Emperors that followed, was a disastrous defeat for Emperor Napoleon. Yet even in his defeat, there was no death for him, for his flight to France, to lead her desperate defense with his new army of conscripts, Veterans… and what little of his army survived his campaigns.

Yet it was in France, where everything would fall.

Defeat after defeat followed, as her brave defenders retreated, and fled back from the frontier.

Marshal's who were indefatigable were forced to surrender, to save their men and civilians alike.

And then the emperor died in the field of honor.

The British wished to remind France of its place beneath them, but the Russian Tsar wanted something more. Far more permanent.

A Shattered France, like a shattered Germany, would be something that the nations of the Concert of Europe could stomach… Even if it would lead to resentment, hatred, and all manner of hell for their descendants to clean up.

The Balance of Power would never be the same.

The nation was shattered by Emperors who sought to never fight another war again, forcing the nation apart by force, so it may never be a threat again.

The Story of France, founded by Clovis, forged by Charlemagne, and his successors, ruling over Europe as its great power for over a thousand years is over.

But the story of her people, her weeping children, who have been defeated, and broken… Is not.

For their story, is not over yet.

Magoose's opinion (unfinished due to exhaustion)
Magoose's Personal Opinion on: The Grand Armee

The Grand Armee, the mighty instrument of Napoleon, and the force that, for nearly a decade, brought the great powers of Europe to their knees, with brilliant campaigns, masterful commanders and quite frankly one of the most colorful officers corps to have ever led such an army.

And in saying that, I will say this.

Napoleon stifled it's potential by being such a masterful commander and being blinded by big personalities within his army, and promoted men who had talent for command, but not for high command.

And placing his trust in the wrong people… We just need to look at Murat who placed his own crown ahead of Loyalty to Napoleon.

Don't get me wrong, Napoleon using the Grand Armee was a sight to behold, as Austerlitz and Jena showed, and his masterful staff, and organizational skills, and the development and implementation of the Corps system. His choice of officers, fantastic, and were he able to win it all, every single man amongst his marshals would be hailed as the great commanders and captains of history.

But my hot take is: He had very few independent commanders that were capable without him to supervise. I think that was partly because he did not want his marshals to try and overthrow him, or just his own ego telling him to take command personally every time.

And it cost him.

Davout, Soult, Suchet, Masenna among others. They were outliers from the Marshals who held high command. Berither was not suited for command over the Grande Armee and that disaster in Bavaria, along with nearly losing Davouts III Corps amplified that.. and Ney…

Well the less said about Ney, the Better, if we don't need to be reminded… Waterloo… and the build-up to Leipzig.

Napoleon's Marshals were brilliant. Some were capable of high command, and some that were given such commands were not.

And what napoleon needs and needed the most… is Officers skilled to act independently of him.

Which at least in this timeline, has already started to be mitigated.

This little blurb was about 1,000 words long, but I wanted to go to bed.

Good night.

OSP-Omake - History Summarized: Therese Auclair - From Zero to Hero (and General)

A.N.: This Omake was written in collaboration between @Blazblade and me, as a hypothetical Episode done by Blue of the excellent Channel Overly Sarcastic Productions (OSP) about Therese Auclair Well, the first Episode anyway. More are likely to follow sooner or later. Enjoy!

Blue: "You know, it's funny how life works sometimes. One day, you just enlist in the French Revolutionary Army as a Surveyor alongside your Brother, expect things to go mostly alright and smoothly...and the next thing you know, your Generals get wounded in the Battle you're fighting, the Army almost breaks and you and your aforementioned Brother find yourself disguised as the Generals saving the Army from total collapse and kicking Prussian butts. And also, you are a Woman. In late 18th Century France.

Man, Revolutions, am I right?

This, dear viewers was the experience that kickstarted the meteoric rise of Thérèse Auclair, and I do mean METEORIC.
Within a few years she would go from a simple country girl who was able to join the war due to her connection with one of France's generals to one of the country's top commanders and even scoring the hand of France's most famous ruler and military figure Napoleon Bonaparte, becoming one of the most famous and powerful women in history.
She proved herself so many times that the people of France saw her as the second coming of Joan "Kickass" D'Arc and was seen as Napoleon's equal in terms of military affairs and governce. Her victories would help gain women the ability to serve in the military and even become officers of high rank alongside breaking the old misogynist view of many of Europe's leading men that women couldn't fight alongside men or as their superiors.
Outside of military campaigns she would also become stupidly wealthy with the creation of industrial machines and invest in other such projects which brought France into the Industrial Revolution and become one of the biggest supporters for women's rights.
Her legacy would be so profound and inspirational that it helped to create some of Pop Culture's most iconic females from Wonder Woman to Princess Leia.

So, to understand just how the heck THAT all happened...let's do some History!

Therese Auclair was born in Avignon in the September of 1773, as the Daughter of Astor and Veronique Auclair, both of whom passed away when she was still young, leaving her in the care of her older Brother Brian.
If some of you fear the worst right now, worry not: Brian was pretty much one of the best older Brothers in History, always looking out for his Sister and trying to help her succeed in life.

Despite their wonderful relationship however, both young Auclairs likely would have remained simple and obscure Subjects of the French Crown for all of their lives...if the House of Bourbon had not committed a Series of massive whoopsies that left the Kingdom destitute, broke, on the verge of Famine and it's subjects very, VERY unhappy with the Royal Family.

So unhappy in fact that on July 14, 1789 they took their displeasure to the men of the Bastille to be heard out. And by heard out I mean they stormed the place, killed the Royal Governor and his men, put their heads on pikes, and took the prison's store of gunpowder to arm themselves.

This was but one of the NUMEROUS massacres that the people of France would accomplish to finally convince Louis the XVI and the upper estates of France to get their act together and stop exploiting the Third Estate. This unfortunately, didn't occur as the nobility and clergy still kept being complete knobs and lead to not only several mob sponsored killings of anyone that was against the Revolution but also the removal of Louis and his family from power, allowing leadership of the country to fall into the hands of Revolutionary orator and later über-Guillotine enthusiast Maximilian Robespierre and his cohorts.

Unfortunately for the French, the other European Monarchies did not take kindly to these new Kids on the block singing of Equality, Liberty and Brotherhood while making the previous Rulers a head shorter and declaring War on Austria. So Prussia, Spain, Austria, Britain and a few others formed the First Coalition and invaded France.
At first, things looked dire for the Revolution and them killing Louis XVI. and his Wife did not improve matters. But then came the Battle of Valmy.
See, both Brian and Therese had joined the French Army as Surveyors and where present during the Battle. Unfortunately - or fortunately - they were ALSO present right when Prussian Artillery landed a 360 no scope and wounded BOTH French Generals at once, leaving the Army on the brink of collapse. But as the Prussians under the Duke of Brunswick advanced to crush the French, Therese and Brian looked at the wounded Commanders, then themselves, and decided to do what I can only describe as the most "Epic Gamer Moment" in History.

Thérèse took one of the hats of the downed Generals along with a horse and yelled out orders for the soldiers to charge the hill with Brian also assisting. Amazingly, the soldiers rallied and pulled off the assault, taking the hill. Then, using their cannons, pounded Brunwick's forces to point of making them retreat after 2 hours of taking heavy casualties and facing reinforcements from Napoleon.

After the battle, Therese was brought in front of a military court for disobeying orders and taking command for herself. However, her superiors, Generals Kellermann (who would become like a grandfather to her and Brian) and Dumouriez argued in her defense, noting her genius in surveying the land and artillery and claiming (albeit exaggerating for the sake of keeping her in the Army) that she prevented the Prussians from advancing to Paris and potentially turning the city into the world's biggest bonfire.

Eventually, she would be placed on unpaid leave for three months as they processed her status. So not completely off the hook but also not kicked out of the military completely, so I see that as a win.

After the trial she would end up locking eyes with Napoleon later meeting with him in Paris. This would be the start of their relationship which had the two start with mutual respect for the other's skills.

Later when her leave was over, she was promoted to General and serve under General Jourdan while Brian became a Colonel and would go on to serve under Napoleon, becoming a dynamic duo.

So that's a pretty steep rise for two People who started as mere surveyors. Not to mention that one of 'em was a WOMAN. In late 18th Century Europe. And yet she was SO good at what she did that even the most misogynistic Dumbass had to admit that she knew what she was doing.
If that's not Girl Power, I don't know what is.

Anyway, after this success, Therese and Brian continued to rise, with Therese bashing the Prussian's up and down the Rhine while Brian helped Nappy hammering the Vendee Uprising down...with, honestly, far less bloodshed then expected. Things were looking up for France!

Unfortunately, while this was going on, Robespierre in Paris had decided to take the late and now headless King Louis' last words about 'the many being sacrificed for the needs of the many' not as a warning, but as a suggestion.

So he began a campaign to make thousands of people a head shorter to match the Royal couple and ruled the country through terror in to deal with potential threats to the Revolution. It is possible that maybe some of the people he had executed were enemies but generally they were probably regular people whose concerns about the state of country were twisted by Robby into being anti-revolutionary ideals or were just killed because their neighbors made up some BS to make them guilty.

So yeah...not happy fun times for France but the executioner business was definitely booming so....sliver lining...?

Anyway as that trash fire was spreading throughout France and as both Napoleon and Brian were politely convincing the Vendee region back into line via bayonet point, Therese was busy with managing her campaign and army. On one trip to Paris, she took a side trip and saw that a pair of poor children was being clearly abused by their caretakers. She eventually took them under her care, arrested the abusers, and pretty much adopted them right then and there. Granted she adopted them into her family later but they were pretty much her kids from that point on.

Yep, she just saved two regular children from further abuse cause the woman is just that awesome. Of course this would prove to be beneficial in several times over as the two poor children were in fact Charlotte and Louis Capet. YES, the SAME Capets as the now headless King and Queen!

Jesus, I joke about the Napoleonic Era being a Real Life Anime, but here we have an ardent Revolutionary and future Empress of France adopting the Children of the previous King, opening the way for an incredible Tale of found Families, Trauma and a myriad of other Issues.

Anyway, with the decapitation Rate in Paris steadily increasing and the War raging on, the Republic stood on rather shaky footing, even as the Vendee-Revolt had been quelled. And then Robby officially pushed it too far. When famous Journalist and Revolutionary Jean-Paul Marat dared to raise his Voice in criticism of how Max handled things...he was promptly dragged out of his bathtub, accused of Treason, put on the Guillotine and lost his head in more then one way.

And for the record, this was the Guy who from the START of the Revolution had advocated for full democracy and overthrow of Royals and Nobles. So Robespierre just outright murdered one of the most prolific Champions of the Revolution as a Traitor to the Republic just because he disagreed with him!

If that doesn't show that Robby went cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs at this point, I don't know what does. The amount of violence got so bad it soon got to the point where Napoleon and Brian had to step in and arrest the government in order to stop the violence.

Unfortunately while multiple of his cohorts were dealt with, Robespierre pulled a Gorgias and managed to make his case convincing enough to prevent himself from having a quick relationship with his beloved guillotine.

Side note, there are SEVERAL running trends during the Napoleonic Wars and Robby avoiding punishment and death is one of them. Dude could have given Jack Shepard a run for his money.

So new officials were put in place as France went through another of its many growing pains. Anyway, let's leave this little corner of madness and go back to what Therese and her kids were doing at this period.

After Therese was done giving the Prussians a wedgie, she waited for new Orders. And lo and behold, the new French Government, the Directory, handed her her next assignment.

Unfortunately, it was a damn stupid one.

Therese was to take an Army, sail across the Mediterranean and invade Egypt to clear a way to India to contest the Brits there!
There were, like, a BILLION Issues with that Plan. One, the Royal Navy ruled the Waves. Two, it was a long trip and suppl lines were basically impossible to establish, meaning the Army would have to fight on it's own. Three, the Ottoman Empire, which nominally ruled Egypt at the time, was one of the few European Powers not hating France right now, meaning an Invasion of Egypt would create yet another Enemy!

There are even more Issues, but we'd be here all day if I counted them all. Suffice to say, Therese was not pleased with the Directory's stupidity.

Since she couldn't change their minds though, she at least got them to agree on her making a quick stop on the way to Egypt.
And if you thought Austria or Prussia were France's favorite punching bags in this war, then buckle up, because the Kingdom of Sicily and Naples was about to handily top them in getting absolutely curbstomped.

At this time I should note that there were several reasons as to how Therese became such a great military leader.

First was her skills as a surveyor and getting information. She created a special group under her command called the Harbingers who would go ahead of her forces to map out the terrain. They were so good at their jobs that she got better maps then those made the people who LIVED in those regions. Thus she used the terrain as best as she could to beat her enemies and was through in gathering information for where was the best place to strike.

Second was that she supported any innovation that would benefit the French military. She was the one that introduced rifles into the Army which would greatly benefit them in future battle where the Rifle boys (and yes a good number of French rifleman were in fact young boys such as Louie) would decimate units several times larger then they were. Also this would extend to her adding entrepreneur to her list of accomplishments in bringing France into the Industrial Age.

Thirdly, she had an eye for finding talented people and officers to serve her and help her accomplish her goals. There was Dennis Severin, a Swedish officer who would live up to his Viking ancestry in being super aggressive on the battlefield and being France's number one Drill Sargent, Joachim Murat who would become France's best Calvary Commander of the Era, and Nicholas Davout who would prove to be effective in commanding his own army during the French Campaigns in Italy. Even the Capet siblings proved to be godsend as Charlotte's code Cypher which she and Louis used during their time under their abusive caretakers became used by the French Military for years and gave enemy code breakers serious headaches.

These talents of hers (and some RIDICULOUS luck) were reasons as to how she became as good as she was and her memetic Invasion of Sicily provided one of the biggest examples of this.

Usually, there's a Rule in Warfare when it comes to amphibious Invasions in the Napoleonic Era: Only land at a safe Position and only if the Weather is pristine, otherwise you risk losing your entire Army.

Therese however apparently had not read these Rules at all (or just didn't care about them), since she not only landed RIGHT in the Sicilian Capital of Palermo, but did so in the midst of a STORM. While part of her Force stormed the Walls, she personally lead the Assault on the Harbor, standing on a boat while rowing through a raging storm. Her men just instantly overran the COMPLETELY caught-off-guard defenders and surrounded the Palace, where both King Ferdinand II. and the Court of both of his Kingdoms resided.
Oh, and if that wasn't enough, the other half of her Army intercepted the Sicilian-Neapolitan Army as it rushed back to Palermo and destroyed it. That's not Hyperbole by the way, they DESTROYED it. Davout, who was in command of this French Force, laid the Enemy Army low, it's ruin SMOTE upon the battlefield. The ENTIRE Sicilian-Neapolitan Army was dead by the time the day was done. All of them. Every last Soldier, over 37.000 Men. All the while Therese's own Army had suffered less the 500 fatal casualties in both this Battle and the capture of Palermo!

N-no, I swear to God, I'm NOT making this up! Literally all Sources of the time agree on this. Historians in the past 200 years have researched this Invasion and all came to the same conclusion. The Numbers are absolutely ridiculous, but they are true! The War was over in ONE day, with the Sicilian-Neapolitan side suffering a 100% casualty rate.

Therese Auclair had ZERO chill.

Ferdinand III., having gotten so ABSOLUTELY wrecked, had no other choice but to give up the Kingdom of Sicily, which became a new Sister Republic, and retreat to Mainland Italy in shame. At the same time, Britain had gone through an economic Crisis and after a massive blunder by their Ambassadors when negotiating Peace, they were forced to sign a VERY humiliating Peace Deal that absolutely ruined their current Government. Spain had peaced out prior to this whole thing, since it's Colonial Empire was unraveling. And Prussia and Austria, after their Armies getting destroyed by Therese and Napoleon and Brian respectively, had also given up. The War of the First Coalition was over and France was at Peace.

So, everything's great, right? I mean, who could possibly come along now and mess everything up agai-

(A Scare Chore plays as Robbespierre's head with glowing red eyes is shown)

OH GODDAMMIT, ROBBY!!

(TO BE CONTINUED IN PART 2...)

OSP-Omake - Therese Auclair, Part 2: From Hero to Legend (and Empress)

Blue: "Like I said, life's funny sometimes when Revolutions are afoot. Women become Generals in a deeply patriarchal and misogynistic Society and save the day, Governments change like it's nothing and even an overthrown Mass-murderer manages to scheme his way back to power.

...Whoops.

Alright then! When we last left off, Therese Auclair had just absolutely SMASHED the Kingdoms of Naples and Sicily, ended the War of the First Coalition and established a new Sister Republic. But there was little time for Celebrations, for trouble was brewing all around her and this 18th/19th Century Feminist Icon still had along way before her.

So, to understand how she walked this Path...let's do some History!

As France had been trying to keep foreign Armies from setting it's regions as on fire as California in the summertime, the government was going through (shock of all shocks) ANOTHER government change.

What happened this time you may ask? Well, the Directory made a seriously boneheaded move and decided not to pay the soldiers after they finally had a break during the multiple battles they had with the other nations in the First Coalition and got payments from the defeated powers.

Ya know, the people trying to prevent the rest of Europe from steamrolling France? AFTER having dealt with the previous rulers who were hoarding money and other things that would allow people to live?

(Sighs)

It's this kinda attitude and sheer amounts of tunnel vision that led to France changing its government SO many times in the 19th and 20th Centuries.

Anyway, the government was later visited by one Michel Ney, an up and coming officer under Napoleon who took upon himself to barge in and arrest the government for not paying the Army. Brian and Napoleon helped in this endeavor and the French government once again changed because it was a revolving door of governments at this point.

Eventually they managed to establish a Consulship of three with Napoleon, Brian, and (unfortunately) Robespierre taking the positions. This in hindsight may have been a bad decision cause Robby was still in power but Napoleon probably had no other choice as the other Consul position could have been filled in with a yes man for Robespierre and so had asked Brian to be Consul to keep the madman in check.

Honestly, it feels like it's going the same way as the Second Triumvirate of the late Roman Republic with Robby being Mark Anthony though minus a Cleopatra to influence him.

Speaking of Cleopatra (or her closest equal in this case), Therese had been preparing for her memetic sweep through Sicily while this game of governmental musical chairs was going on.

She took the News with remarkable grace, though she likely also hoped that the New Government would be more inclined to stop with Sicily rather then sending her on this boneheaded Campaign in Egypt. Not to mention that she was glad her Brother had stabilized the Situation somewhat.

However, one rather significant Event took place before she set sails to Sicily: She and Napoleon went on their first Date!

I should note at this Point that Nappy had tried to convince Brian to allow him to court Therese for the last two years now. She had thoroughly impressed him and he had developed an admiration - some might say obsession - for her. Therese was a bit less sure about this, but after getting sent sappy love poem after sappy love poem by Nappy, she finally decided to give it a try.

Their first date, which has been the subject of many a romance novel and Theater Play, went rather well, surprisingly. The two already DID respect each other, but Therese was also a bit weary since she could sense that Napoleon had so much Ambition that he may as well have it written on his forehead. So, after a nice long talk, she actually managed to make him promise her something: To, no matter what he would do in the Future, always keep the Ideals of the Revolution alive in both France and his own heart. And Napoleon did so.

...Okay, seriously, who let God watch Anime before he wrote the Napoleonic Era?!

So anyway, one captured island and destroyed enemy army later, Therese managed to not get the whole population of Sicily angry and oversaw the formation of a new Sister Republic.

However as she was making her soldiers learn to NOT attack civilians, she was also dealing the little fact she and her army had been excommunicated by the Pope. Because they had beaten the Sicilians so hard.

...Yeah, no one was buying this. This was just the Papacy using it's Power for political gains again.

So she had Davout take half of her Army to Italy, march on Rome (along with the Capet siblings), and sit in front of the Vatican to convince the Pope to change his mind. And by change I mean possibly threaten.

Once again, let this be a lesson on how Therese did not take shit from anyone.

However, while she was still in Sicily, possibly reading more of Napoleon's sappy love poems, in France things were on fire YET AGAIN.

...Man it just doesn't let up.

Now how did this happen you may ask? Well that had to do with Therese's older Brother Brian, who is also quite the fascinating character in his own right.

His Character and Motivations have been much debated by Historians, but most have come to the same conclusion:

Brian Auclair was perhaps the greatest Champion of the French Revolution, the one who embodied it's Ideals the most.

He had only accepted the Office of First Consul reluctantly and only at Napoleon's pleading. He felt that he, considering his Role in the Coup that overthrew Robespierre, shouldn't have any political Power. However, not taking the Office meant either trusting his ambitious Friend Napoleon as the Second Consul to not put himself into absolute Power or allowing the Third Consul Robespierre to do his thing. So, he accepted Office for a while.

Unfortunately...his trust in the People of France and the Revolution proved to be TOO great. After a few Months, he resigned from Office to be with his Wife (Nappy's Sister) and newborn Daughter, hoping that things had stabilized enough to the point that he wasn't needed anymore...and effectively giving Robespierre free reign.

Now, does such an Action speak of a rather poor understanding of Politics? Yes. However, it also shows just how truly committed Brian was to the Ideals of the French Republic. Unlike so many others who only partially supported it or only did so for their own interest, he truly had the best Intentions, wanting to give the People of France the Chance to choose their own Future without him dictating it to them.

Sadly, he completely underestimated the Effects a skilled Orator and Demagogue like ol' Robby could have on the People of Paris.

So as Brian was attempting to pull a Cincinnatus by stepping down peacefully, Robespierre pulled a Caeser and took power, making himself the new head of the government. He then organized the National Guard and mobs together to hunt down any of his political opponents, INCLUDING Brian.

While Brian was able to escape by making himself into a common soldier and was escorted by Ney back to Napoleon in Lyon, his wife and daughter were captured by the mob and taken to prison.

Meanwhile Robespierre was going full on Red Queen and was beheaded any of his opponents and those that made the slightest remark about him and his government. I mean this was basically becoming Reign of Terror II: Electric Boogaloo.

Luckily, much of the Army and its officers had gone to Napoleon's side so while Robby had the capital, Nappy had the experience and capable leadership.

Flipside, most of the Civilian Government had sided with Robespierre, so Nappy lacked much of a legal foundation for being the Authority in France. Only a few Ministers joined his cause, and at least one of them was imprisoned before he could do like Brian and run for Lyon.

Also, one Army, the Army of the North, which consisted mostly of fresh recruits, had sided with Robby, so he wasn't entirely without Forces.

All in all, everything seemed dead set for this upcoming French Civil War to be bloody and gruesome.

And then Robespierre ruined EVERYTHING for himself.

See, Therese in Sicily was unsure what to do. Robby had ordered her to keep up her Campaign and not return to France. Napoleon pleaded with her to come back as soon as possible, since he knew that her 50000 Men - remember, half of her Army was busy holding the Papacy at Gunpoint - would make a key difference in the Civil War.

And then, as she was deliberating what to do, a second letter by Robespierre reached her.

A letter that ORDERED her to hand over the Capet Siblings, whom she had come to consider to be her very own Children, for immediate execution.
...Yup.

Now, there are MANY Questions one could ask about this Order, though personally I'm mostly inclined to scream at Robby "What the HECK were you thinking?!"

Because, yeah, Therese did NOT take this well. And with her Mama Bear-Mode thoroughly triggered, she promptly declared her support for Napoleon and Brian and returned to France, dead set on making mincemeat out of Robespierre.

So she took her half of the Army back with her to France in order to kick Robespierre from his high horse and potentially drag his ass to the guillotine.

Oh I should also mention that at this time that another Coalition had formed to get revenge on France. Yes, literally a short time after winning the previous war, Europe was giving it another try.

You may reasonably ask, what gives? The answer, Britain gives my friends, they give loads of money, by the tonnage.

So with the promise of getting that sweet, sweet British silver, Austria, Prussia, the Holy Roman Empire (Germany), Naples, Spain, and Russia declared war on the troubled France.

...Okay, let's go over these players because I would like to highlight that they had multiple issues going on themselves.

Spain was probably going to war due to the whole excommunication thing, but they had the issue of their Territories in America being a HOT MESS.

Austria had gotten absolutely dopesmacked by Brian and Napoleon basically pulling a Hannibal Barca and did their version of Cannae (though with less death and more captured soldiers). So they wanted revenge but were running the risk of getting even more humiliated.

Prussia, while not as badly beaten, had still been humiliated by Therese when she was stationed along the border with the HRE, so they wanted to get back at her and France.

The HRE states were also in a rather weird position as French forces were getting prepared across the Rhine so any attack would be met with resistance.

Russia joined as the new Tsar Alexander I. wanted the money to help rebuild his country after its own civil war. So he would send a rather decent force to prove he was contributing to the Coalition to get the money.

And then there is Naples...

To say that Ferdinand III. had lost the plot is the understatement of the century. He had just lost one of his two Territories, most of his Army, and had a French Force not that far away on Italian Mainland. This was possibly the WORST time to get back into war, but the promise of more money was too tempting, so they went ahead to fight yet again.

God, at this point the only members of the Bourbons with any survival instincts are Charlotte and Louis, and Louis wanted to die on the battlefield for France at this time!

Anyway, upon coming back to France, Therese marched to Lyon, where Napoleon was planning to win the Civil War as fast as possible. But as I said, he needed Legitimacy. And for that, he had a Plan.

After a Scene straight from a Romance Novel, in which he asked Therese to forgive him since he did not see how he would be able to keep his promise and she told him that he still could, he finally asked for her hand in marriage. She accepted.
And then, in a Move showing both his political Genius and INCREDIBLE Ego/Ambition, Napoleon turned their Wedding, which was held right after, into a simultaneous Coronation of them both as Emperor and Empress of the French People!

And said French People LOVED it, for the most part. The Narrative of two of the Nations greatest Heroes joining in Marriage to save France from both foreign Enemies and Robespierre's Terrorism proved to be so effective that, from one second to the next, Robespierre lost almost all of his Legitimacy and Credibility in one fell swoop, despite having most of the Government on his side.
Though, granted, most of said Government only supported him because he had threatened to put them and their entire Families on the Guillotine, so...eh.

Anyway, Napoleon, Brian and Therese quickly got to work to defeat Robby as fast as possible so that they could focus on defending France from the second Coalition.
What followed next was so comically lopsided that calling it a 'Civil War' is honestly false advertising.

As the aforementioned Army of the North was coming down, Therese, the former Commander of said Army during her days of smacking the Prussians silly came to meet them in battle. However, she saw that this was a pointless fight as the men before her, lead by General Marmot were only doing so largely cause Robby was threatening them. Plus, you know, the new Coalition that was bearing down on France.

So she made an impassioned speech to make them surrender and lay down their arms. Amazingly, this actually worked as they stood down...save for a commissar that shot and wounded her. Though he would regret that choice as the soldiers nearest to him would literally tear him apart.

This was truly a miracle in many ways as Marmot and those willing to fight for Therese joined her force and marched on to meet with Napoleon.

Side note, this event happened after she had gotten pregnant so while it was a concern after the fact she was still able to have two healthy boys.

Like I said, a miracle in more ways then one.

Meanwhile outside of Paris, Napoleon not wanting to be left behind by his Wife in making miracles happen, pulled off the same accomplishment by having the force around Paris stand down in much the same way.

This honestly the equivalent to Alexander the Overachiever stopping a war by simply marching his troops around. TWICE.

Also, can we appreciate the delicious irony that the Civil War was ended by a couple of speeches by the two People claimed to be selfish, violent despots by the most bloodthirsty person in all of France?

(Chef kiss)

With the Robespierre Faction effectively dismantled, Nappy and his Forces marched into Paris. Robby tried to give them one last Middlefinger by executing Brian's wife - who was also Napoleon's Sister - and their Daughter, but they were saved by Minister Paul Barras and General Kellermann, who despite being pretty old and imprisoned for months, single-handedly killed two armed men as they barged into the cell where all of them were held.

Madlads.

So, everything was alright? Well, not exactly. See, just before they could finally catch Robespierre...a bunch of friggin' Ninjas grabbed him and got him out of France.

N-no, seriously, a Team of foreign agents of undetermined allegiance just grabbed Robespierre and ran off into the Night, disappearing without a trace.

At this Point, Robby is rivaling Alexander the Main Protagonist for Plot Armor!

So with Robby on the run and Paris secured, the 'Civil War' was over in record time before the Second Coalition could take any sort of advantage from it.

Therese was now able to have the chance of dealing with her pregnancy in peace while Napoleon and Brian went out to smack the Austrians and Prussians again.

However she was also given the position of reforming the French Army while the two were out.

See while the Army had doing well on the different fronts, some of the commanders noted that there were areas where they could improve to make the Army more effective then it currently was. So Therese began to issue a Series of reforms.

First was making a legal code for the Army that would discourage looting and massacres by the soldiers along with improving overall discipline and professionalism.

Second was classifying new missions and objectives for the French Army to deal with different situations that they could encounter. This includes policing troubled areas and dealing non conventional issues. This would help improve morale and prevent international pressure from different nations by showing that the French wasn't just conquering places.

Finally, she helped in setting up a vocational program for when Army veterans retire from service and go hunting for jobs. This is especially important as whenever demobilization occurred at this time there was a high chance plenty of soldiers would turn criminal and lead to a surge in crime. Plus she also wanted to give them benefits if they were to stay.

And again, I should note she was doing this while pregnant. Never let it be said that Therese was lazy."
