So I was thinking... Even though I said before that dogs might be suitable to guard the home, I still didn't quite like it because if we're going with "Friends based on those they're meant to guard", then while dogs are very welcoming, I don't think Hestia is very doglike in any other ways.

So I started thinking of what would fit her, and I think I have the answer. Bears. Teddy bears are super round and cuddly, perfect for hugging and defending children against bedtime monsters, and for more human monsters, Mama Grizzly Bear is always ready to defend her cubs. Bears are also considered a bit lazy sometimes what with their whole winter hibernation, and Hestia did have some lazy mooching habits before, so really, overall, bears are perfect for her!

With classes starting up again in about two weeks, I'm transitioning to new chapters every 2-3 days instead of every 0.75-2 days. I need to get some pre-class studying and general prep out of the way to help ensure the updates don't totally cease during the semester.
Considering the frequency of the recent updates, I must ask: are you taking time to get ready for classes?
It now made sense that they typically ended with "and they lived happily ever after" at that point; the after was too strange to fit into a story.
*looks at Ignition* Sounds about right.
I'd they were cornered, they'd just briefly sprint against a wall and continue fleeing at a speed most level ones couldn't even see.
"If". And I don't get the "sprint against a wall and continue fleeing" bit. Do they pass through the wall? Run up the wall? Something else?

That actually really is perfect. It didn't occur to me, but it would've to Dreamer, soooo that's probably going to become an ascended idea. :p

EDIT: Or red pandas, or something similar.

Panda. Fox.

I give you Hestia's spirit animal:

As for what Hestia will end up getting... I'm a little sad she banned mice. Mice are small enough to be discreet, and look perfectly cute and harmless even if seen. If she considers even mice creepy though, I guess there's no way she'd allow bats... She did say dogs were alright though. And having guard dogs to defend a home makes sense. Maybe QA can make cute fluffy puppies for Hestia to cuddle. I would prefer more discreet guards, but Hestia doesn't seem too fond of the idea. Puppies at least, can make up for their lack of discretion with pure cuteness.

You know, clothing friends actually make a lot of sense? They'd basically be gear that can grow stronger as you level up/progress deeper in the dungeon (increase in size and quality of magic stones).
Hestia banned Clothing Friends, but she didn't (quite) ban Armor Friends.
OTOH if she makes Armor Friends then Welf would probably be disappointed at not being able to supply their Familia.

Colloquial name for the species in question: "Terror bird". (Actual name.). Those are not pygmy horses in that picture.
They have stats in Pathfinder too, but are just +2 HD Axe Beak

The drawing is of a dinosaur chicken. Just because.
Just remember, the closest descendant of the T-Rex is the common chicken. Dogbertcarroll is fond of referencing that and in Stand Ins and Stunt Doubles uses it as part of a dirty pun.

You know, if those beams are directional from its wings then that could act as a light weapon by aiming the focal point from each feather like a magnifying glass and the sun.

"Lili casts PRISMATIC BIRB!" *throws a light grenade behind her little bird Friend*

Lily fits well on the crazy mansion that will become Hestia Familia sooner or later. It will be a place that would give nightmares for any sane adventurer for how OP and insane are its members

If Lili gets what is essentially a Chocobo as a mount, Dreamer Taylor needs to find a way to give it magic for Choco-meteor!

That... Isn't that some kind of raccoon? Why is it called a panda? It doesn't look very bearlike...

EDIT: It is incredibly adorable though.
It is in fact a Red Panda which is an impossibly cute distant cousin to the raccoon though it looks and acts like a cross between a raccoon and a red fox with all the cuteness and curiosity of both combined.

If you get a chance to see them at a zoo I highly recommend it, they're adorable.

Edit: also, unlike Giant Pandas they're not an evolutionary dead end that's dying off because they're literally too lazy to breed.

That sounds like the perfect Friend for Syr actually. Maybe not Hestia though. Though whatever Friends Hestia get, I hope their colouration is that of a banked hearth.

"This is a dinosaur. Adding feathers does not make it a bird, Administrator!"

"Dinosaurs were the distant ancestors of modern birds. Therefore, dinosaurs could be considered birds and well within the boundaries of Lili's request."
There is evidence that many dinosaurs had feathers. The feathers just don't fossilized as well. So no need to add feathers.

I'm aware. But as far as I can tell, the dinosaurs in Danmachi's Dungeon don't have feathers. Thus, Hestia thinks "dinosaur with feathers" in that blooper snip. :p

(I could be wrong about the Danmachi dinos, though.)
