Incidentally when people pointed out that the ridiculously stupid atmosphere gun was ridiculous and stupid, Wildbow apparently clarified that the Tinker\Shard wasn't really intending to do anything with it, or indeed intending to really build anything at all so much, the ridiculously stupid atmosphere gun was basically the Tinker 15 equivalent of idle scribbling on a notepad while not really paying attention.

If the Tinker\Shard had actually been trying, they\it would have built something a lot less stupid, and done so a lot faster.

If they had the resources

Unless they can make it from dirt or crap
Tinker 15 can produce high level resources from his body (so yes, he can technically pull resources out of his ass), the process is extremely painful, but not lethal and the shard that controls him doesn't give a shit about his discomforts.

His tech is also self maintaining and self improving, tinker 15 is bullshit.

I feel like I'm experiencing mild deprivation from INW. Or QAylor in general. So since I can't think of a good omake, I'm just gonna dump my thoughts in general about it.

I hope Anna quickly gets QAlkyrie to abandon that whole "pretend to be dumber than you actually are" thing soon enough. Currently, QAlkyrie is just... There's not enough misunderstandings going around her, and people don't yet realise how special she is, which I'm finding rather frustrating, because looking at the misunderstandings and assumptions about QAylor are what I like best about INW. I'm hoping that Anna taking the effort to mentor QAylor will be enough for her to abandon her playing dumb attempt because she's just trying so hard to impress her sempai. I think QAylor will probably misunderstand just how powerful frontline valkyries are, if she thinks Anna is standard for an Academy student. I'm really looking forward to the snowballing escalation that will happen there, and I'm very curious about the stories that will end up being told about QA to explain her QA-ness.

Regarding INW itself, it feels like forever since the last chapter about it. I'm probably getting spoiled with Alvaril's incredible update pace. I'm still looking forward to when Aiz's kitty goes public. Lili's big bird too. I wanna see Alexander's attempts to engage in diplomacy with QA's hypothetical nation, and I wanna see all the crazy speculation/theories that people continue to have about it. I want to see a god's reaction to the first time they hear shard-speak, and I want to see just how badly that captain of Soma's familia gets wrecked, and how QA gets away with it. I'm very curious about the outcome of if Bell ever gets to spar with QA, and how both she and he will handle it. I miss the story in general, and the growing insane picture of QA's homeland in specific lol.

And of course, QA in Practical Guide to Evil. So short, but so good. I loved Amadeus' speculation about her, wondering if she's a play from Above or Below given the Queen in her name. Her friendship with Masego was so precious. I feel like she's going to accidentally kidnap him while they're playing around with magical experiments and they'll end up on a wild trip through Arcadia terrorising and dissecting random fey as they go. Maybe they can run into a wandering Ranger with mini-Archer in tow as they go. She can introduce them to the joys of alcohol, and they can wake up all hungover in some half-destroyed orphanage with a tiny Cat being all unimpressed at them. It's just... so much potential for cuteness and misunderstandings and epic stories man. I cannot help but gush over PGTE, even with how little we have of it.

Anyway, keep up the good work Alivaril! I look forward to anything and everything you end up updating. ^^

She would adjust once she figured out the current technological level to be just above the the setting level, she will be freaking Einstein next to them but won't completely uplift them or something.

She would never completely stop holding back because it will ruin the experiment, she herself is capable of ruining it without uplifting the natives simply by creating a few millions army of Valkyrie Friends, but she won't because she isn't a dick (as from her point of view, doing it will be very much a dick move to Decimator), but going to the top of top of the natives is expected of a monarch like her, and any less will probably result at all the other shards laughing at her.

Next chapter (and the one that will start a new thread for what I'm tentatively titling Calibration) is currently awaiting approval from staff (which may take a few days). You thought there would be railroaded conflict, but it was me, romcom!
Wait. Is this a thing again? Last I heard, we specifically could not ask for mod pre-approval for, like, legal reasons and shit.

Also, what's wrong with Calibration Ch3 that it needs a look over?

Separate Thread for Continuing Spinoff
Calibration (BAHHSCQ/Sanctioned) now has its own thread (complete with chapter 3). The newest chapter of the former sidestory will only be posted over there to ensure that discussion of it actually migrates properly. :p

You totally are, but you're polite enough that it just contributes to your own suffering. :V

*checks watched threads again*

Huh, a response. Yep, no more reviews, apparently. WELP.

Hopefully, nothing. Guess we'll find out, though. :p

So, just reread the most recent Calibration chapter, and I realised something.

"I am more comfortable than I was prior to synchronization with her,"
"I am becoming increasingly healthy the longer I am connected," Queen Administrator noted. "I do not want to desync."

These seem to suggest that QA might not have been in the healthiest state before she found Symbie. Possibly brain damaged or subject to some kind of terminal illness. It would explain how incredibly defensive she is about Symbie and why she's so reluctant to desync too. She considers Symbie her life support system, and the Friend that helped her stop being a helpless hospital patient.

If more of QA's backstory gets revealed, like in INW, it's possible people will conclude QA's bunker mates were a bunch of crazy survivalist nuts who were responsible for QA's brain damage in the first place. And possibly repeatedly tried to steal Symbie from her, again explaining her extreme defensiveness.

Man, I cannot wait to see what people eventually assume to be QA's backstory in this world. It should be really fun!

Knowing Lili she likely will keep it hinden untill some poor fool feel like kidnap is a good choice...

Ains on the other hand XD did she Even hide it? i don't think she havent let it go untill Loki bless her she likely was playing with all the way Home

Not the most recent anymore~ :ninja: :V

Aiz was carrying two cloth-covered baskets, and one of them smelled strongly of food. Nobody checked the other one; Aiz successfully smuggled a kitten past the Loki Familia's noses. Literally.

Is A Practical Guide to Evil spinoff also getting it's own thread? And future spinoffs too? Or is it just because you're expecting to continue that one a lot in recent future and don't want it taking up a lot of this thread-space?
A Practical Guide to Administration probably won't be getting much more, if anything. Calibration, however, is likely to get at least a few more chapters and thus shouldn't clutter up this thread.

I mean it's not a bad hypothesis given they don't have outside context.

AN: I'd intended to keep going until we got to QA's spell, but with classes starting tomorrow, continuing until it finished might mean waiting until this weekend or even longer. So, you get a shorter update instead.

So.... still a chance for this weekend? Or will it be the "even longer"? Also, set the "Calibration" thread to "watched".

I can't definitely answer that one way or the other. One of my professors seems to be of the mindset that "if I assign a ton of work during add/drop week, it'll weed out the uncertain," soooo... yeah. INW is currently trickier to work on than Calibration, thus why Cali is getting more attention. INW is coming along, though; ~60% done.

I wonder if Lili's big bird Friend can even be camouflaged. I understood it was to be big enough to ride on, and it was the smaller bird Friend that she would keep concealed.

Rookie adventurers seldom look up. "Drop bird" even shares most syllables with the relevant Australian creature!*

*Yes, I know it's an urban myth likely made to mess with tourists.
