Green Sun, Black Shadows (CG/Exalted)

No, seven is not an explicit keyword in any of the excellencies. As a stunt, you can use it but stunts that repeats more then once are no longer stunts thus will not proc the excellency. At best you can get that each application of seven is distinct from other meaning the first time you split troops into seven counts. Every time after does not. Wearing seven rings count the first time but not every time after the first.

Actually, it's highlighted as an explicit keyword in the first and second one.

FIRST:
The seven wings he bears beat and fan the tides of Chaos, yet Oramus is not of the Wyld -- his origin can never be known for he defies definition, laughing at the shinma and existing everywhere in some form, the horror and madness he drags around himself and carries in his unparalleled artworks a source of wisdom best unsought for.

SECOND:
His seven wings encompass all reality, which places him beyond the familiar realm of everyday life and into a nebulous arrangement of unrealized potential.

However, only the first and third note it can be used for any action that uses the number seven.

FIRST:
This Excellency may always be used for any action associated in any way with the number seven or its multiples, any action which defies conventions, or in the production of artwork.

THIRD:
It may also be used to enhance any action associated, however abstractly, with the number seven.

As written those are rules that go above any associated with the italicized keywords - you just need to work seven into your actions, somehow, and you can activate the Excellency. Also, from what I understand you don't necessarily have to put keywords into stunts in order to activate the Excellency, your actions just have to meet the criteria for the activation and you have to spend the motes. Ultimately it's up to the storyteller, or the GM in this case, to decide if a use is applicable or if it can be repeated. You may not be able to repeat a stunt that would activate the Excellency, but that doesn't mean you can't repeat the action/method that activates it if you're willing to spend the motes, but again that's ultimately up to the storyteller.

I find it curious you have the Greater Imperfection of Oramus listed here. From what has been seen of primordials so far only the actual primordial themselves possess the Greater Imperfection. The only way I can see it applying to Lulu is if he started taking E6+ Oramus charms.
Only for completion's sake. Keeping or removing it is the same for me, really.

Also, I'm currently brainstorming ideas for Oramus/ED charms, both Heretical and not. The fact that a champion of Oramus posseses a charm specifically made for escaping things fills me with mad laughter at the possibilities.
I know, right ;) ? I will be sorely disappointed if you don't find ways to abuse the hell out of it.

Ok, so we're the last to the party, but we aren't the only recent Exalts. The question is then how long ago did the 'oldest' ones Exalt.

I also imagine that now that they've got all five castes available that the Yozis will call for an all-hands meeting.
Three of them some years ago, but only one took efforts to increase their strong points, and mostly in abilities: the other two just enjoyed their new powers. The last one, who coincidentally know one of the other but wasn't aware of their Exaltation, exalted some months ago and while busy with more mundane matters, is committed to explore and master their new abilities. Of Lelouch's Coven only him and another are Essence 2, the others are Essence 3.

I pretty much assumed that you would - the vast majority of people do ignore it to some extent or another.

As far as the name, just call it the Reclamation. The name can refer both to the effort and the leadership.
That works too.

Adjoran/Hegra would be a good combo. A wind of love and crazy combined with a storm of chaos and drugs. Lotta synergy there. I could see Milly in this position, actually, but mainly as a social build of this due to her love of sudden crazy parties, though I wouldn't venture to guess when she'd have a chance to Exalt.

Cecelyne/Elloge would probably have some synergy there, as you'd have an eloquent priest who could build up a cult to large levels. Sumeragi Kaguya might be well suited for this one.

Though the other way around could be interesting as well. A Heretical Charm that adds a drug effect to Locust Mana Plague could be hilarious.
*writes down notes*

Oh, well that's great. Don't have to worry so much about the XP, just have to convince one of the bosses to open up.

The ones I'm interested in for Lelouch at the moment are Malfeas and Cecelyne.

Malfeas would probably be easy enough to convince - our rightful authority was taken from us, and we intend to burn Britannia to ash for it and create a proper empire that worships the Yozis. Might help if we invented some unique dance as well, as the dude has a secret love of dance.
Yep, Lulu has synergy with Malfeas. Not total, but there is.

Cecelyne might take some doing. She could very well be down for Britannia's social Darwinism. We could try to convince her that they're doing the whole 'the strong rule the weak' thing wrong though - the aristocracy props up a bunch of weak, incompetent buffoons and gives them authority over those who should be in charge of them instead. Just look at Hell. Demons are given Peer status based on their actual strength and ability, not because someone in power happened to birth them. Mind you, Cecelyne is also big on hypocrisy, so that may or may not fly.
The part about Britannia giving positions of powers to people inherently unworthy of them would be viewed as true. Cecelyne's hypocrisy is still a big problem, yes.

I kind of assumed there's a generic resist for Unnatural Mental Influence when not stated otherwise. 1 Willpower, I guess? Also, I'd consider it a social effect given that one of the Charms that this one is built off of isn't Shaping, but that's just me.

Okay, so it's a Compulsion effect viewed as UMI.

I think that works - the Infernal is opening their vision to that Which Is, but at the same time they are making it so that others can see impossible colors that are part of What Is Not.

DUAL GAZE PARADOX
Cost: -; Mins: Essence 3; Type: Permanent
Keywords: Emotion
Duration: Permanent
Prerequisite Charms: What Is and What Should Never Be, Beautiful In My Way

The Dragon Beyond the World sees both Creation and the Impossible at once, his paradoxical and vast being allowing him to suffer no ill effect from that Which Is and What Is Not without fail. Upon purchasing this Charm the Infernal expands her sight to gaze upon all that Which Is and that Which Is Not without distraction. This removes the perception penalty while in Creation from What Is and What Should Never Be.

However, by opening her sight to What Is the warlock opens a portal for others to see What Is Not, her eyes shining with a kaleidoscope of 7,777,777 impossible colors. The effect is only Obvious when one looks the Infernal directly in the eyes. Doing so ensnares the watcher, making it difficult to look away. The affected character builds an Intimacy of obsession toward the Infernal, unless they reflexively spend one Willpower to avert their gaze. Characters who have conflicting Intimacies that would interfere with this process find those feelings weakened. For one full day afterwards, any Intimacy built or attacked can't be lessened or rebuilt, respectively. After a day, the Intimacies may be affected normally.

If the Infernal spends willpower to not cause the effect of Beautiful In My Way on a given character it also applies to the effect of this Charm.

A repurchase at Essence 4 allows the warlock to reflexively roll (Perception + Awareness) die plus (Essence) successes to pierce through magical disguises, for he sees that Which Is and that Which Can Not Be. At Essence 5 the warlock may spend three motes to cause an Unnatural Mental Influence to force an individual to make direct eye contact. The victim may be resist this compulsion by reflexively spending one Willpower.

That work?
Oh yes, very well.

There aren't really much in the way of exact dates for the series. August 10th, 2010, a.t.b. is the date in which Brittania begins the invasion of Japan, which lasts for about a month. The series starts seven years later, with the first season being from August to September 2017, a.t.b. (honestly given all that happened I find that timeline a bit too short, but that's just my opinion).
I agree. This quest is going to last longer than any canon timeline CG has.

I think having the battle today being August 10th, 2017, a.t.b. would be thematically appropriate - Oramus chooses his champion seven years to the day from the date in which Japan was conquered, choosing someone who would most likely work towards taking it away from Brittannia's hands to mock them.
Splendid idea. Approved.

Well, Yozi cults are pretty varied. I could see a group of Japanese people having felt the kami abandoned them and they're looking for something else. They could be a group that worships all the Yozis given that Japanese religion is extremely polytheistic. Then again, many Yozi cults are dedicated to only one, so some ideas for that...

Hegra - What happened to Japan is a nightmare their people are living every day, and so they appeal to a being of nightmares to help them. Might have a severe problem with Refrain, being a bunch of druggies who want to get high.
Cecylne - A group of honorary Britannians have embraced the rule of the strong philosophy of their conquerors, but they can't get ahead because the system doesn't actually reward merit when you're not the right race.
Oramus - A group recognizes that overthrowing Britannian rule is impossible, but perhaps a being that rules over the impossible could save them...

Plenty of other directions to go, but ultimately we would want to make the cult worship Oramus, either adding him to their pantheon or usurping whoever else it is they worship.
I think I will go for the polytheistic idea.

If you wanted to go further I'd suggest something subtle that isn't always visible, maybe a green sheen to his hair this is only visible in a certain light, or his eye color appears more red than purple when it's dark.
This is good enough.

Will this quest be using the homebrew Unwoven Coadjutor modifications and charms created by Earthscorpion? It seems like they would be a good accompaniment to the active role that you have given Lelouch's Coadjutor.

Here is a link to the homebrew for people who don't already have it: The Fourth Soul - A Rewrite of the Unwoven Coadjutor
Yes it will.

For Knightmare Frames, would a modification of the tank sample from Modern Age works?
TANKS (RESOURCES ••••+)
Large metal boxes rolling across the battlefield, filled
with munitions and soldiers. Devastating innovations of
modern warfare, tanks have destructive capabilities commensurate
with the fear they can strike into their foes.
This entry, like the others, covers a variety of different
models, from bastion-breaking main guns to lightly armed
personnel carriers.
Repair: 3 for lighter or older models, 4 for more advanced
tanks
Speed: Most tanks have low top speeds of around
10/20mph, while some can achieve movement rates of up
to 15/30mph
Maneuverability: More agile tanks, like APCs, have
Maneuverability up to -1D (Drive 2); main battle tanks
may have as low as -4D (Drive 2)
Endurance: Tanks consume prodigious amounts of
fuel due to their size and weight. If moving under their own
power, they may require refueling as much as once every
day. Tanks require constant maintenance to remain in
working order, at least one hour every day of use. For every
week in arrears, its Maneuverability and the Accuracy of
its weapons suffer a -1 penalty. On reaching -4 Maneuverability
the tank is no longer mobile, and at -2 Accuracy its
weapons cease to function.
Crew: 2/1 for most tanks, but this does not take into
account gunners and other crew that may be necessary for
additional functions in the tank, such as ECM and ECCM.
Cargo: Main battle tanks have small cargo capacity
for non-essential things. Removing the ammunition for
its weapons or emergency equipment may free up space for
up to a ton of extra cargo. Other tanks, particularly APCs,
have large cargo capacity for supplies and personnel, larger
models carrying up to 10 soldiers.
Armor: 15L/23B
Health Levels: Ux8/Mx4/Cx2/Ix2/D for lighter or
smaller models, such as APCs; Ux8/Mx4/Cx5/Ix3/D for
main battle tanks
Weapons: Nearly every tank is equipped with a heavy
machine gun. APCs are sometimes equipped with one or
two assault rifle emplacements. Main battle tanks typically
possess a single artillery gun meant for obliterating opposing
vehicles or fortifications.

Interesting. I look forward to finding out who is who. It doesn't sound like they've been really working towards the Reclamation on any large scale then, so many of their Urges are probably lesser in scale than Lelouch's since there hasn't likely been any major changes to the Britannian status quo. Given that Lelouch has an epic level Motivation and Urge that will pretty much require him to make a big impact, the Yozis are probably happy that one of their agents will kick the Reclamation into full gear and call an all-hands meeting in the hopes that he can get the others to actually act.

I'm also looking forward to how you'll work Geass into the series. I would guess that functionally they would work as Charms or at least spells of some kind, just without mote cost since Geass can be spammed. Since the gods of Yu-Shan don't seem very active in the Code Geass world, the whole Geass/human-hive mind god thing might be something they or the Sidereals created as a caretaker so they can just keep playing their divine Xbox in peace. Also, while many Geass abilities might work on Infernals I could see a few not working depending on how they work. For instance, Bismark's ability to see the future might not work against Infernals if it relies on reading the Loom of Fate since Infernals exist outside of Fate - would certainly be a hilarious "oh crap" moment when he found out.

For Knightmare Frames, would a modification of the tank sample from Modern Age works?

Probably, though each generation would probably need further modifications as they get closer to proper warstriders, especially once flight is added. Though eventually I imagine we'll actually have some warstriders/hellstriders...

Now I'm hoping we're going to learn the Infernal Martial Arts Style. I'd really like to see the look on his face when he uses his Geass, and the only reply he gets is "The Monster is Here."

The Slayer is having fun destroying Knightmare Frames.
The Malefactor has a suitably strong Motivation and they are growing in their role.
The Defiler also has a suitably strong Motivation, and it's working on it - it's just that studying Malfeas' tech is more interesting.
The Scourge is like the Slayer, fully focused on their wants.

You are correct in the fact Lelouch is actually the most focused of the fives, and ready to start making great waves right away. In fact Ebon Dragon is counting exactly on that and him putting the others to good use, it's one of the reasons he was eying Lelouch.

Of the other 45 Infernal Exaltations? Well, the Yozi are currently having a lot of troubles with the chosen hosts of those - they either die too quickly or are absolutely incontrollable. Lelouch's Coven is the one with the most promise (which, yes, doesn't bode well for the Reclamation).

I'm taking an approach similar to Modern Age, but only the appropriate stuff. I'm not still too sure on details, but the main idea lies on Codes being a Sorcerous Working tied to the Underworld, the human-hive mind god being reworked as the collective mad knowledge of the Neverborn and the Thought Elevators being the geomantic foci that originally were supposed to seal the Underworld...

But you know what? Nothing is set in stone yet. So I'm open to suggestions and discussion on the matter.

Well that's all: I think I'll update this evening (3-4 hours). Votes for Oramus Excellency are still open though.

That bodes well for us. Right now Britannia is the only faction with any significant number of Knightmare Frames, so that means they're probably fighting Britannia. Still, they'll be independent minded so we'll need to convince them to do things rather than order them around.

The Malefactor has a suitably strong Motivation and they are growing in their role.

Ah, motivated, just not quite to the point of being able to take action. Makes sense though for the archetype - they'd plan things out methodically before taking action.

The Defiler also has a suitably strong Motivation, and it's working on it - it's just that studying Malfeas' tech is more interesting.

Distracted by something shiny. Sounds like a mad scientist to me.

The Fiend is like the Slayer, fully focused on their wants.

The Scourge, you mean, but yeah, if you went with the Hegra patron here it would make sense for them to be rather selfish.

It's not like the Reclamation had a good chance of success to begin with. I wouldn't say its impossible, as generally speaking anything is possible in Exalted, but it's not exactly an easy task even by those standards. The Green Sun Princes are much more likely to just go Devil-Tiger and do their own thing in the long run.

Of course, there's also the matter of what happened to the other Exaltation types, as none of them have been making waves really, either.

The Terrestrials I'm guessing simply died off or weakened their bloodlines to such a point that one only comes around quite rarely. Either that or they're living in some hidden village somewhere, but it seems unlikely they would given their nature. So... probably just gone.

The Solars would definitely be making waves and conquering shit if they were around. Same with the Abyssals and them trying to kill everything. The Sidereals would work in the shadows, but I think even they could do better at running things than letting Britannia take control. The Lunars might just be hanging out outside of Creation in the Wyld since human society is functioning without the Exalted interfering, at least up until now. Overall though I wouldn't be surprised if most of the Exaltations out there were just sealed away in something like the Jade Prison again, or if there was some force that up until recently was keeping Exaltations from finding people.

I think that the Ebon dragon just created them to be a distraction/to close the door behind him for his personal escape attempt that involves switching out his fetich soul for the Scarlet Empress. In fact they might have been nothing more than him needing a little better technical understanding of how Autochthon engineered Exaltations to make his plan work.

Honestly, they should have learned better than to listen to the Ebon Dragon by now.

No, The Ebon Dragon created the Infernal in such a way that would give them chances to rebel against him aka betray and break his plan because it is his nature to make it happen, he didn't want the Infernal to be forever loyal to him like the Akuma (those were made by Malfeas first). I recall someone typed that if the Ebon Dragon ruled Creation he would stab himself in the back because he can't live without betraying something or being betrayed.

Why not all three? He's stabbing himself in the back while stabbing the Yozi in the back while stabbing one of the two free primordials in the back, while releasing Celestial exalts back into creation to sow exactly the type of discord and terror that got the Sidereals to rebel in the first place. Primordials with their soul hierarchies are a type of being that can be running several different contradictory plans at the same time, especially the ebon dragon.

Who is Britannia dicking with right now? I don't think they are actively fighting the EU.

Cornelia should be just about wrapping up Middle East, right?

Shinjuku 1.2
[X] Help the terrorists
-[X] Strategy: Some would say that reversing this situation is impossible, but you are no longer bound by mere impossibility. You are Lelouch vi Britannia, and you will change the very conventions of warfare. You send two groups of seven each of your spidery minions to begin seizing Knightmares from their Britannian pilots, a gift to the terrorists so they may fight. Once one group has seized their Knightmare frames you send them to observe the enemy command center to gather information and to report back to you anything they have found.

'Seyrun, how does this intangibility ability work?' You ask your...advisor? Yes, let's go with that.

"When we are in Creation being dematerialized is our natural state. We can materialize and become tangible only by spending a lot of Essence. Switching back to dematerialized state is quick and free however."

'Alright. And how do one regain Essence?'

"It will replenish itself over time, but there are ways to speed up the process. For Anuhles we can either eat other spirits, but there is none here - I checked, not even a God of Carnage - or we can eat fresh meat and drink blood."

Oh joy, more cannibalism. Might as well check, but... "Do any of you have enough Essence to materialize again if you go incorporeal?" A chorus of 'No.' is the answer. You shake your head in irritation. "Alright, let's move on." Time to fill some footsoldiers for your Anuhles to...consume.

You're about to mount into the Knightmare when you see one spiders fidget with one of the late Royal Guards' guns. "Do you know how to use that?"

"No Boss." He, or it's a she?, shakes its head. "Just thought it looked cool."

...This give you an idea. It may be unnecessary, but a hidden ace is always nice. "Everyone! Come here and watch."

Taking into account the spider's non-human structure is tricky, but you manage to explain to them how to properly hold the various weapons and fire, albeit clumsily. Then you explain your plan. "This will work only once. So do it only when I order it. After that discard the weapons. Understood?"

"Yes!"

"Good."

{====}

A platoon of Britannian soldiers is returning to the G-1 Base after cleaning their assigned base when a Sutherland bearing the Pureblood's insignia approaches them. "Who's in command here?"

"Sir!" The official salutes, quickly followed by all the other soldiers. "Second Lieutenant Steve Harper at your orders sir!"

The Knightmare gestures to a building to the right. "A bunch of Elevens went inside. Go inside and take care of them."

"Yes My Lord." The Lieutenant and the soldiers obeys the order with the zeal of true patriots.

The screams begin after the last soldier walk into the building.

"What do you know? It doesn't feel nearly as bad as I thought it would be." Lelouch comments.

"It's better this way Boss. No corpse, no chances of Hungry Ghosts happening." Seyrun spits. "Accursed creatures of Death."

That makes you pause. '...Ghosts are real?'

"Sure. Look there to the right." You do, and the Factsphere reveals some strange symbols draw with chalk on a wall. "That's a ward against ghosts. I don't know what possessed humans to live in a place that's halfway to being a Shadowland, but wards like those are the sole reason Hungry Ghosts don't eat them during the night."

...You don't doubt Seyrun's words, but this raise the question of why nobody know about stuff like this. Unless, of course, there is a masquerade enforced like in that book Rivalz gave to you as a gift for your sixteen birthday?

"There is."

'...Seriously?'

"Yes. It's a bit more complicated than that however. I'll explain later."

You get the feeling that, by the end of the day, a lot of your old plans to take down Britannia will be revised. Or just scrapped.

{====}

Once all the spiders confirm that they have enough Essence you send two groups of seven each of your spidery minions to begin seizing Knightmares from their Britannian pilots, a gift to the terrorists so they may fight.

It turns out very well. Not only the spiders encounter groups of Knightmares almost immediately and kill the pilots without problems, but all the Sutherlands are armed with the weapons there are. They must have been owned by high-ranked nobles.

Acquired: 14 High-Class Sutherlands!

Once that is done, and all 14 frames hidden safely, you send one group to observe the enemy command center, to gather information and to report back to you anything they have found.

"This is a strictly reconnaissance." You tell the seven. Why do you feel a vague sense of approval for that? "Stay dematerialized all the time and don't engage for any reason. If you think someone has spotted you, retreat. If you see or hear something you deem important the one who did must immediately come to report to me. After an hour passed you retreat, no matter what happened."

"Will do Master!" They cheer before vanishing.

'I suppose there is a way to see dematerialized spirits?'

"Yes, a considerable number at that. Good thinking with those orders. It's what I would have done."

You suppose it counts as a compliment.

With the spiders that made up your personal guards, already incorporeal, riding atop your Sutherland you speed up to where the terrorists are gathering, hoping it's not too late to recruit some more minions.

{====}

Luck is again on your side, because you arrive just in time. The terrorists are blocked in a stalemate with some footsoldiers, the warehouse providing excellent cover, but the three Sutherlands coming from the other directions are going to change that.

Or better, they would have changed that were you not there yourself.

"We have you now, Elevens!" The pilot of the Sutherland states, his and his companions' guns leveling themselves on the helpless terrorists.

Now though, you spring your trap. From the shadows, your own Knightmare gestures for your minions to attack. Screams can be heard from the Britannian soldiers as demons slay and devour them. Coming out of your hiding place you level your own weapon at the footsoldiers and fire, gunning them down with a spray of bullets meant to tear apart tanks.

You radio the shocked terrorists. "It looks like I arrived just in time. I hope you don't have many casualties. Are you the leader?"

A man with brown hair answers with his own radio, the others watching your Frame warily. Except for the redhead, who is looking in awe at your handiwork. "N-No, everyone is fine. Yes I am, but wh-"

"I will keep this brief because we don't have much time." You interrupt him. "As you can guess I am not a Britannian pilot." Just an exiled Prince. "I stole this Sutherland. Those three-" You gesture to the freshly liberated Frames. "And fourteen others are for you and your comrades. The tools for your victory...if you follow my commands, that is."

"Don't! What if it is a trap?!" A guy with red hair and a bandanna protests.

"Oh, sure." You reply in a mocking tone before gesturing to the dead soldiers. "I'm a Britannian, and I just killed my compatriots that were about to kill you so that I could bait you into a trap."

That shuts him up. The redhead - the girl, not the man - is the first to get over her shock, taking a Sutherland. "Alright, I'm in. What's next?"

"Turn off the IFF. I need mine to predict where the enemy will be, but you need to be invisible to their radars. After that I will lead you to where I hid the other Sutherlands."

"Did you hear that?" The man with brown hair shouts. "I'll get one. Sugiyama, take the other one." Then he contacts you again. "Listen, I am grateful for you help, but could you tell us who you are? At least your name...?"

Giving them your true name is out of the question, but a code name is necessary, if only to avoid confusion.

"If it can help, one of the sobriquets of your caste is Vitriol Falcon."

...Nope. The matter of what a caste is aside, that is not something you want to call yourself. Still, you feel this is an important decision that will greatly shape the future.

No need to tip anybody off too early with a name.

Seven may lead to people thinking we're from Area 7 (wherever that is), could make a great disguise with Loom Snarling Deception.

Ah, motivated, just not quite to the point of being able to take action. Makes sense though for the archetype - they'd plan things out methodically before taking action.
That, and working out how their new shiny powers work in a manner they're familiar with.
Distracted by something shiny. Sounds like a mad scientist to me.
More or less.

Oh, I'm going to dish out so much surprises you have no idea! My only advice is: don't underestimate an Exalt. None of them.
