Green Sun, Black Shadows (CG/Exalted)

[X] Alexander's Version (Hoping to find a middle ground)
People don't want the original, but the rewrite just confuses the hell out of me and the deceiver stone just added another layer
but maybe I souldn't think twice befefore this kind of argument after a streesfull day trying to make sense of something else
now after 8 hours of sleep I just fell bad about myself for the way I handled this and so I must say that I am sorry

I wouldn't put much stock on that map since it contradicts this and this.

I only suggested that map to show how the Homeland, Area 1, and Area 2 would likely be set up, and said all the rest of the map should be ignored because it wouldn't match up with the other stuff. When the British Royals fled Britain for the colonies, the 13 colonies and the parts of Canada Britain owned would have become the new Britannian homeland. Further, they would have immediately seized the territory belonging to the French instead of purchasing it, making the areas purchased in the Louisiana Purchase part of Britannia, due to it being France that caused them to have to flee. When it came time to expand, Britannia would have conquered Area 1 (unclaimed Canada) since nobody important really owned that. Then they'd go on to conquer Mexico, which would have included all the land that was transferred to the US in the Mexican-American war.

[x] EarthScorpion's Version

The idea that "charisma = honesty" is ridiculous.

Am I just missing some obvious benefits to some of these charms?
The benefit is that you, as an Infernal, are basically at war with the entire world (in canon Exalted). Pick a city, find where you can do the most damage and go take a nap. With Touch of the Eldest, you can even use this to start networking and build a cult by reaching out to those who suffer from your presence, especially since you can engage them in social combat and use other charms to make them serve you. Basically the tree opens up a huge AoE social combat arena where you can pick and choose your targets and they can't run since they're sleeping.

Though I'd personally swap Waking Dreamer with Nightmare Wings, making WD the prereq for NW because of the level of effect it has.

Walking Dreamer lets you do anything you could do mentally. So, training mental skills, doing research, visiting your soul-world (if you have one), telepathically communicating with others, etc. More importantly it's what allows Touch of the Eldest to function, since you can't make social attacks if you yourself are asleep.

Shadow Scars is a more aggressive charm, designed to turn an entire city into a raving madhouse. Again, you're at war with the world. Find an important city, maybe a trade-hub, and go take a nap. For the low, low price of a hotel room you can destroy everything.

Pyreflame Footlights and Dancer in Infinite Silence are situational for games dealing with the Underworld. In such a game, those charms would be invaluable.

Let's talk about our current XP:

14 votes + 5 Scene + 4 Scene Objective Completion + 5 current XP + 10 (gained creating GSP) = 38 XP total.

I think we should buy Fourth devil Soul Domain, Flowers Bloom Like Madness and Muse of Unearthly Delights. Ths allows us to start spawning new souls. Fourth devil soul domain so that we can meaningfully interact with our new deva and Seryun.

Insane Graceful Movements so our speeches became UMI.

And we should start to train Occult. Right now, Lulu doesn't know how his powers work, and that is a significant disadvantage. And, even more important, we need Occult 3 to learn Sorcery and start to summon demons.

That would left us 3 XP.
Hmm.
Maybe use that last 3XP to bring WP to 8? That would increase our Essence pool a little

This is actually pretty good.

Something to add to the "to buy" list.

Also, i agree that Nightmare Wings should be the latter charm in the tree.

Actually, it's pretty common for the base Charm in a tree to be the one that changes you most. It being as low as it is fits with other Charm trees.
Yeah, but I'd argue "What Is and What Should Never Be" does that, with the perception/awareness penalty.

Dual Gaze Paradox nullifies the penalty, which is why I'm not so sure on it being a mechanically good charm. It'd be like Hateful Wretched Noise having an upgrade that ignores the penalty.

Dual Gaze Paradox doesn't just remove the penalty, it also transforms your gaze in an obvious magical effect. This can be a huge disadvantage in certain situations.

A upgrade that removes a penalty but substitutes it for another is acceptable charm design.

Causing others to become obsessed with you, piercing magical disguise and eventually upgrading into a full-on attack is hardly a penalty. The worst it can do to you is reveal that you've got some magical mojo going on, and in Creation that's hardly unusual. In this quest, people aren't going to realize what's happening unless they're already in the know.

:Shrugs: Your opinion i guess. I think that the possibility of being outed as a supernatural being, without being able to do much about it, is already bad enough. Note that this makes charms like LSD, Eldritch secrets mastery or Secrets or self held Fast much less useful, since it makes impersonating a non supernatural being much harder.

Eldritch Secrets Mastery explicitly lets us hide our magical nature.

And we can block our eyes with a mask, or even sunglasses IIRC. Besides, people try to reason away magical phenomena if they're not already aware. The only way we'd be outed is if we tell someone, because mortals will just think we have great looks and eyes so pretty you can lose yourself in them.

That's exactly why dual gaze paradox makes ESM much less useful. ESF can hide your magical nature, but it doesn't hide Obvious charms. Obvious charms are Obvious, as in, anybody that sees us knows that something magical is going on.

The only reason we haven't been discovered yet is because Arcane fate covers us. That won't work against many enemies. Any Dragon-blooded we met that isn't a total moron can see that we aren't a mortal.

Dual Gaze paradox isn't as harmful in this game as it would be in vainilla creation (Where it would be absurdly dangerous), but it still has bad side effects.

Also didn't Alexander89 say that the penalty to remember a supernatural effect of a non-sidereal decreased by 1 every time that specific mortal saw it until they succeeded the check to remember? So eventually even Shirley would be asking Lelouch why his eyes are so weird.

Causing others to be obsessed with you most certainly can be a big negative when you can't turn the ability off. Lelouch's mortal friends aren't going to be able to resist that shit - how do you think he's going to feel when he realizes people he cares about are obsessing over him because of his rash choice to get Dual Gaze Paradox?

Also, obsession isn't necessarily a good thing for you when other Intimacies come into play. Someone who is obsessed with you and has negative Intimacies for you might spend an inordinate amount of time trying to kill you, for instance.

I got an idea for an Filipino pirate/guerilla running a combo of Metagaos, and either Cecelyne or Adorjan. With some Kimbery down the line. Don't have specifics nailed down yet.

Changing topic, i think we should get a submarine as soon as we can. Either convince Kaguya to give us one (Like in canon) or stealing one from the Brittanian Navy.

Bacause one the best ways to damage the empire is raiding their Sakuradite and weapon shipments. As a bonus, we can even use water breathing demons to recover the cargo, that we can then either sell in hell or use to make more Knightmares for our troops.
