Green Sun, Black Shadows (CG/Exalted)

Welp I'm back! Now let's answer:

Speaking of that, I've been meaning to ask...

@Alexander89 - Since you're anti-XP sink on stuff, are you just going to allow us to combo freely or will we have to purchase Combos?
We are using Errata, combos are free.
Yup, you can make all the combo you want, all free-free.

And I've been meaning to ask about how the Excellency buying works for other Exalts than Infernals, currently considering Leila. Does she have to buy all of her Excellencies separately?
Yes. In her case she has access to everything her Xp and requisites allow. Normally this would make her potential limited, but since she's a NPC I can handle her development however I want. For now she just has what her recent Exaltation gave her, but soon she will show her fangs.

Cool.

...

Shit. Going to have to write Alternate History.

Hmm... The Spanish-Britannian War happened when Battleship HSM Maine exploded due to Spanish Saboteurs[1] in 1898 a.t.b. This resulted in a frenzy of nationalism which resulted in Britannia taking over the entire American Continent, which was then Spanish territories.

The Philippines, a Spanish colony, was ignored at the time it was too far away. Instead, Britannia provided discreet aid to the Philippine Revolutionary Army and let Spain and Philippines fight it out. The Spanish-Britannian War ended and Spain lost a shitload of territories. When the treaty was signed, the two powers had some backroom deals where Spain removed it's claim to the Philippines in exchange for money[2] to rebuild their destroyed economy.

This starts the Philippine-Britannian War, or more popularly known as Area 10 Insurrection. Three years of war, which we can gloss over. Just note that some asshole natives did a Benjamin[3] which resulted in the loss of the Philippines.

Thirty years later, the Philippines is still a hotbed of guerrilla activity, on par or worse than Japan. A tropical archipelago of 7000+ islands with multiple mountain ranges[4] is a fucking nightmare, even with technological superiority. Add in the fact that Filipinos are pissed about being bought and having just earned the freedom[5], while the Britannians are being heavy handed due to seeing parallels with Washington's Rebellion, well... the Philippines is a clusterfuck.

Manila and Cebu may be shining productive settlements, but the ghettos and Honorary Britannian System are full of rebel sympathizers who pass on messages to the various rebel factions[6] in the boondocks. And that's not counting the supernatural side of Area 10, which will possibly have a modern version of the Lintha[7], without the brutality and incest, as well as a boat load of spirits and ghosts.

This explains the messed up Area List of Britannia, where the Spanish Americas were conquered first, then expanded to the Pacific to suppress the Philippines while assimilating the various Pacific islands, and why Britannia doesn't have India and Australia. I'll assume that Britannia stopped its conquest for about thirty years in order to consolidate its power in its new territories and putting down the various rebellions. That should match up Code Geass timeline with its version of the Spanish-American War.

For those of you wandering why Britannia is focusing more on Japan rather than the Philippines which has been a problem for 30 years, Sakuradite deposits[8][9][10], and the Geomantic Seal that was revealed by Alexander89 at the last update.

And, woah. I just fabricated some Alternate History to explain and fix Britannian expansionism in 90 minutes. Go me! :V

So... what do you think?

[1] It was a false flag operation done by Britannia in order to claim casus beli against Spain. It worked too well.
[2] The amount paid was $20,000,000, not adjusted for inflation.
[3] Fuck you Benjamin Franklin for selling out Washington. You inspired others to do the same.
[4] We have... 7 Mountain Ranges scattered about in different islands, all heavily trapped and fortified. Britannia could take them, but the costs are prohibitive.
[5] Asshole Spanish selling us just so you can claim we never defeated you. TED would be proud.
[6] The Revolutionary Government that fought the Spanish still exists. Not all rebel factions acknowledge it.
[7] Philippines is mostly clannish and tribal. Add in the fact that the tropical archipelago full of places to hide, you can easily slot them in.
[8] The Philippines also has Sakuradite deposits, but not enough to compete with Japan.
[9] We have lots of valuable metal though, as well as Jade.
[10] Sakuradite is a weaboo name. The locals have another name for it. Still can't figure out why Britannia still calls it Sakuradite. Did the Scientific Community actually name that stuff?
[11] Lots of footnotes. :V
Okay, this is utterly cool! Kiriel, you are amazing. Can I take it as canon? I think I can work the Lintha there somehow. Maybe.

Since Britannia's war of conquest started in 1898, I suppose it was divided into smaller, separated wars with periods of calm between each others, until Spain lost almost all colonies and had to join the E.U. with the money got from selling the Philippines. It fits Britannia, to be so used to go to war and conquest they cannot stop anymore.

Oh, and the 30 years gap wasn't only to consolidate power. That coincide with Charles Zi Britannia's rise to power as he systematically killed all his relatives until he ascended to the throne. There is a reason Lelouch has not uncles or aunties.

And in case you're wondering, since Dragonblooded lives longer than mortals, there are some that just change identity...but many others buy houses in Yu-Shan and went to spend the rest of their existences there. Yes, you read that right: "buy houses in Yu-Shan". Make of that what you will.

I can't really apply my "Bullshit Revisionism of Alternate History" charm since I don't have lore specialty dots on Australian History, but I'll try. :V

I'm assuming that Australia is neutral since I recall that Australia did not take a side during the UFN-Britannia Conflict in 2nd Season. Most of my speculation would be based on this assumption.

Now, we know that Napoleon Bonaparte conquered Britain which caused the exodus to the American Colonies. I would guess that this in turn allowed the French Empire to claim British territories and colonies, including then Penal Colony of Australia.

When the French Empire was defeated at Waterloo, one of the European factions, probably the Dutch, claimed Australia since they already had territories in Indonesia. The newly reformed Britannia, struggling to recover their defeat and exile at the hands of the French, did not contest the Dutch claims. I would also hazard a guess that the Dutch bought what remained of Britain's Trading companies, East India Company and others, hence another explanation as to why India, Indonesia, and Australia are not Areas under Britannian rule, and provides Britannia with funds for their Manifest Destiny.

From there we can extrapolate that, due to Napoleon's European Tour, the ideas of the French Revolution would spread throughout the continent as well as the various colonies of the empires. Sometime in the future, the Dutch agreed to Australia's claim of Independence, mainly because Australia was barren, hellish wasteland full of weird shit that tries to kill people[1].

Australia then became the Code Geass version of the Swiss due to its neutrality, and no one contests that because Australia doesn't have much in terms of resources, and thus worthless[2][3].

On that note, the reason why Africa hasn't been exploited much by the various superpowers during the late 1800s is because of the pissing contest between the European Union and the Britannian Empire[4].

[1] I have a sneaking suspicion that Australia was a wyld zone due to all those mutated creatures, that was closed by cultists of Cecylene a long time ago.
[2] That's what Australia wants you to think. In truth, they probably did some prospecting, and are hiding their massive economic infrastructure.
[3] There's probably a Sidereal base in Australia since no one bothers the country. Weird Fate Bullshit protects the island.
[4] Africa is probably the territory of the Lunar Exalted. Explains why no one has colonized it.
Even better! This give me ideas...again, can I use it as canon?

Maybe it's just me, but I can't see Leila being an intellectual peer to Lelouch and Kaguya as Int 4 would make her. She's a decent tactician and administrator, but nowhere on their level. And, while yes, there are different types of intelligence - compare Lelouch's strategic acumen to Rakshata's scientific genius - I don't think she has mental capabilities that quality by any standard.

Personally I'd suggest moving the point to Perception, because 2 is a bit low for a competent commanding officer who controls tactics from the rear and she at least had the awareness to replace an incompetent superior who would have ordered an unsuccessful suicide mission for the W-0.
I'm not that conversant with hers and Akito's parts in CG canon, so my suggestion was based on increasing the higher stats. Given the examples you've provided, I wouldn't disagree with lowering her Intelligence to 3 and raising her Perception to 3.
You're right. Changed.

What else? Oh, right: to those interested in making OC GSPs, you are free to use whatever Yozi and respecting Charmsets. At this point we can safely say every Yozi got at least one Exalt, with the sole possible exception of Qaf - and that because I never found a Charmset for him - and Sacheverell, who nobody want to wake up. In any case I will make a list:

-Malfeas
-Cecelyne
-She Who Lives in Her Name
-Adorjan
-Ebon Dragon

Those were the firsts, who defined the Castes. Each Caste give access to its Patron's Charmset as Caste Patron. Only those five Yozi can be both the Caste Patron and the Exalted Patron, with the Favored Yozi being one of the other four.

Since then more Yozi joined the Reclamation. They can only be the Patron of an Exalt as their Favored Yozi, meaning that the Caste and the Caste Patron stays the same. As a rule each Champion of those Yozi must start with Charms of their Patron and their Caste Patron:

-Kimbery
-Elloge
-Metagaos
-Mardukth*
-Isidoros
-Cytherea
-Szoreny
-Hegra
-Oramus**

*Since there are awesome Charms for him, why waste them? The Neverborn don't matter anyway: just swap a name for another, equally impressive one.
**Oramus chose Lelouch, and only Lelouch. There will be no other one.

Hmm...I'm thinking about making a Defiler Patroned by Elloge. I'm thinking that it would fit for them to be a would-be inventor screwed over by Britannian nobles, maybe one of them stole the person's invention, claimed it as their own, and got away with it because of the noble's power. The person has a breakdown, then gets an offer from a Neomah, and accepts because they refuse to be made into a bit-player in their own life story. Then they meet Elloge, and learns that she wants the story of the world as it is now, to change.

I'll try to write up more later, don't really have access to a decent typing program right now.

So, I added up the total votes so far to see how much XP we'll get at the end of the scene for participation. Every five votes after an update gets us 5 XP, and I'm presuming the GM rounds down.

38 votes - 7XP
17 votes - 3XP
19 votes - 3XP
59 votes - 11XP (lots of vote son the name thing)
18 votes - 3XP (so far, two more votes = 1 more XP)
----
27XP

So, if the next update is the end of the scene, if we've completed the scene objective, and if we got no

27 participation + 5 Scene + 4 Scene Objective Completion + 5 current XP = 41XP total

So what to spend this on? I'm thinking go for some more Oramus Charms. Four specifically...

Flowers Bloom Like Madness -> Muse of Unearthly Delights (16 XP)
Preposterous Molding of Zero (8XP)
Insane Graceful Movements (8XP)

Reasoning:
- I care less about Flowers Bloom Like Madness even if it's beneficial than I do about Muse of Unearthly Delights. I'd like to get the latter for a few reasons. First, it's an obvious way to boost Rakshata's abilities, inspiring her to create new weapons and technologies that nobody else has in exchange for temporary and relatively harmless Derangements. Further, it's useful for other characters. For example, Berengiere may be interested in occasionally receiving the benefits of this Charm, being able to use the benefits to create unique fabric she's never made before. The other reason I want it is so we can start going into Pantheon stuff, which the GM has indicated he wants as well.
- Preposterous Molding of Zero because we need a Shaping defense. For Unnatural Mental Influence we can pay Willpower when needed until we get an appropriate Charm, but I believe many of the more powerful uses of Geass are are likely Shaping effects. Absolute Command is almost certainly one, otherwise in canon Euphemia should have been able to resist Lelouch's accidental command completely.
- Insane Graceful Movements because we are going to be making more speeches in the future, and making them Unnatural Mental Influences will make them incredibly powerful since we can use it to deal with groups of people.

9XP remains. Good options to consider for using it:

Willpower, 3 XP each, Immediate - Would give us more motes (1 in each pool for each point gained) and give us more Willpower to do other stuff. Certain rolls can also be affected by how much Willpower, be it temporary or permanent, you have.

Ride/Drive, 3 XP each, Immediate - I imagine we're going to get to work on starting our rebellion when we get back. It'd be damn nice to stand among the most elite Knightmare pilots in all of Creation. If we spent all the remaining XP on this we'd have four dots of Drive and three dots of specialty in Knightmares, only one dot away from maxing out our possible skill.

Another Charm. Charms are always useful.

Save it. We can't train a lot right now while we're in Hell. Maybe save it for later activities we'll only be able to train later.

Anyone have any thoughts?

**Oramus chose Lelouch, and only Lelouch. There will be no other one.

Yeah, he wants a single unique champion. I have a feeling asking him to open up his Charms to anyone else won't work either.

Isn't Willpower multiplied by a number for the purposes of determining the size of the Peripheral Pool?

Isn't Willpower multiplied by a number for the purposes of determining the size of the Peripheral Pool?

For Lunars and Alchemicals, unless something changed in 2.5e which I haven't seen.

Solars/Abyssals/Infernals
Personal = Essence x3 + Willpower.
Peripheral = Essence x7 + Willpower + Sum of All Virtues.

Lunars
Personal = Essence + Willpower x2.
Peripheral = Essence x4 + Willpower x2 + Highest Virtue x4.

Sidereals
Personal = Essence x2 + Willpower.
Peripheral = Essence x6 + Willpower + Sum of All Virtues.

Alchemicals
Personal = Essence x3 + Willpower.
Peripheral = Essence x5 + Willpower x3 + Highest Virtue x2.

Dragonblooded
Personal = Essence + Willpower + Breeding.
Peripheral = Essence x4 + Willpower + Sum of Two Highest Virtues + Breeding.

Neomah can also increase the likelihood of a child to exalt as a Dragonblood, which makes them very valuable. Also risky because having generations of Creation's defenders being touched by demons is not always a great plan.

The other reason I want it is so we can start going into Pantheon stuff, which the GM has indicated he wants as well.

This. I want to see what for our new soul will take.

As for the leftover XP, i wanted to buy light the music, play the lights. Turning battlefields in mad chaos zones is just to good to pass.

Actually it's: "A bonus equal to the number of different people that voted during the scene divided by 5". As of now it's...72 people, meaning 14 Xp.
So, if the next update is the end of the scene
It's not. There are quite a few things you need to do in Hell, and I am planning a few events. However, deciding to contact a Yozi to access its Charmset will force an end to the current Scene and the beginning of a new one.

So, is my idea for a GSP all right? Oh, and will Oramus open up his charms to those he seems worthy, or is Lulu the only one with Oramus charms?
Sure is. For now Lulu is the only one: when asked about that, Oramus just grins and stay silent.

Damn. That's not nearly as much to work with. We could only get three Charms out of that, with a little XP left over. I'd probably cut Insane Graceful Movements then.

It's a pretty long scene, then, but maybe that means a lot of extra XP we can get for bonus objectives. Contacting a Yozi would probably need to come last, and we'd want to do it only if it wouldn't take too long. (relatively speaking) Would be nice if we had some idea of how much time is passing in Creation, but such is life. Hopefully the Yozis are being considerate to us given this is our first visit and making time in Malfeas pass faster relative to Creation.

Well, of course, but those charms have it as a prerequisite. Not having the charms that come later in the tree isn't a reason to not take it.

Well, turns out it doesn't matter - we won't be able to afford it quite yet anyways.

Anyone have any thoughts?
Solar Charms. More precisely, Solar Bureaucracy Charms.
Entering the Council room you find it empty, meaning you're the first today. With nothing better to do you begin preparing the paperwork for today's task, which is...inspection on the clubs' budget? With all the amount of work there is everyone should have started on it yesterday. 'I suppose there isn't a power to do paperwork faster?'

"That's more like up a Solar's alley."

You hum. 'But you also said that as a Fiend I can learn the power of other Exalts.'

"Not all of them and it takes more time, but yes. However, you need to see them in action first, and know enough about how Essence works to reverse-engineer the steps leading to them. Or you can go and consult the libraries of Orabilis in Malfeas, which contain a lot of lore accumulated since the First Age."
But as those are pretty expensive as non-Infernal Charms (16 XP per Charm if I'm reading things correctly) and we need at least one more dot in Bureaucracy ability to be able to buy any of them beyond Frugal Merchant Method, maybe save those for some other time. But I want Indolent Official Charm and Foul Air of Argument Technique, so that we can drown Britannia in its own corruption. And paperwork.

Maybe even some Linguistic Charms, as the Whirlwind Brush Method is what Lelouch was actually wishing for here (or maybe Speed the Wheels would apply here, I'm not sure). Could be also useful with the right Oramus Charms, if we want to drive people mad with our extremely... unique written works.

Also, we have to actually buy the First Malfean Excellency with XP even if we get his permission to use them, so we should keep that in mind when spending our points.

Could "Noble Families of the United Kingdom" helps? Going with Jeremiah I am also sure many Britannian noble houses also came from all over Europe.
Thank you, that's very helpful. Now, regarding the OC creation, I'm currently working on an Omake detailing how my character came to accept the Yozis deal and Exalt. What I'm trying to figure out it, should we talk to you about making our characters' stat sheets after we post something, or talk to you about the stat sheets, then post an Omake about the characters?
