This will be a lot of investment in terms of stabbing for a possible reward.

A Wayang has Health Levels equal to its master's P'o rating.
Greater Akuma don't have a P'o rating, but for all intends and purposes we should assume 10 at least since that is his virtual P'o-Score for the purpose of Demon-Chi reserves.
Luckily it propably doesn't have any armor (just a shadow of the real one) and certainly no Disciplines of its own, so it shouldn't be able to soak Hellfire.

So your example of a good story with an overpowered character is someone who barely shows up in his own story. I think you need to see why that would be a problem if we had to do that.

If you're unable to see why Onepunchman is a valid example (it is about how being the strongest isn't actually helping him that much, after all), I am simply going to redirect you to the *Superman vs the Elite* animated movie who is entirely about how your solutions are stupid and counterproductive.

No, you are missing my point of my arguement. My point is that being over powered hasn't helped one punch man and it won't help us.

And animated movies are hardly a useful thing, they ignore the hundreds of other heroes and villans that exist that would have put the elite into the ground. No one is OP in DC.

I mean even if we became a mini primordial I'm fairly sure there are at least a dozen or two beings that could fight us. Maybe. That's just so so so far away though good chances never honestly.

If you don't enjoy a generally powerful character though I'm not sure why you would want to be here. Not asking you to leave or anything. But, like can we stop the nerf talk I'd like to actually cause change to the setting then a general status quo situation. If we are being honest as many small good things as Molly has done she's not actually fixed the route problem of any problems we've faced. Their all generally ongoing problems with multiple route causes we've not dealt with yet.

Though of course most of the time neither has Dresden as it's made clear time and time again throughout most books most plots have secondary plots going on and background and hidden actors.

Arc 6 Post 30: Spirits Parted, Worlds Divided
Spirits Parted, Worlds Divided

3nd of October 2006 A.D.

Coiled like a serpent in your stomach a hunger stirs, not the pale spark of a pari's inner demon, but something deeper, heavier, leviathan from the depths arising. "Kill..." So you attempt it, moving as fast as you can without burning precious essence. No more than mortal speed, though among the swiftest, no more than human strength, though upon the edge of the burning blade that strength grows strong enough to sunder stone... and the thing before you starts to dance and to duck, to weave and to bob, like it is taunting you, daring you to kill it as it seems to step through your blows only for you to realize a fraction of a second later that it had dodged by merest inches. The boneless grace of shadow is its... no his, this may be a monster, a hollow shell, but in battle it still meets you as one warrior against another with skill long earned.

I'll make it right, you find yourself thinking as Usum gleams with the light of frozen flames, a in a low cut barred. I will send you to oblivion in shadow and form.

The only mercy left for the warrior who had perfected that flawless form, turning bestial claws into something elegant... almost beautiful.
It is in following the pattern of the fight, in understanding the meaning behind it that you finally see the the opening, the instant when form conquers function to its detriment and there you strike, a tongue of flame that cuts through rotten shadow stuff that may once have been hair and slices off a withered ear.

It's still not attacking, not even a feint, just keeping away, almost like he's... testing you. Is he watching now now, you wonder, an itch between your shoulder blades as if expecting a sword through the back, even though a thousand eyes reveal nothing more than the limbless torturers, the Monoc team taking up firing positions all around the room, keeping the barrel of a gun on every angle those half a dozen barrels allow while Lydia keeps to your right and half a step behind no matter how you twist and turn following the shadow, like a squire in days of your... or a bodyguard to your reckless assault

A muzzle flashes once, Detective Murphy taking her shots, it does as much good as shooting shadows ever does, but the thought of the others following suit makes you shout. "No, it's mine!"

With eyes of flame you see the warriors of Odin nod, a duel then, that they well understand and you see Karin Murphy, a child of the twentieth century, a cop used to bringing the big guns look with about as much comprehension as Lydia's marionettes.

The wayang is cunning, he almost manages to maneuver you into the shelf that had held the torture implements, but the attempt to herd you cost him dearly as you finally manage to deliver a blow across the chest, the armor parts like smoke leaving a wound that bleeds the frozen winds of Kakuri.

Another good hit and it will be undone. The voices in your armor rise in praise, a thousand forgotten tongues mingling together.

A great clang echoes though the essence of the world, heard not with the ear, but with the soul. The door of wisdom and of knowledge, of miracles and madness had been hurled shut with cruel portcullis of iron. You see the flash of understanding reflected in Gard's eyes and with it you practically stumble in your fight.

Harry's Gate has been Closed behind him. The difficulty of the local Shroud has been set to 10 for One Scene

Seizing the moment of distraction the shadow pounces, light as a feather, dark as a storm cloud it leaps above you and trues to drive the point of its claws through the slits of your helm, but under helm of stone are lids of brass and essence. Against which its claws break. Thus a moment later breaks its chest, a sword of flame driven into the chill place the Akuma's heart might be . It's like trying to grasp a firefly made of darkness, not light, like trying to quench your thirst on a drop of dew... and yet a drop might yet tell the secrets of the raging winds

F...ma...ti...g

Choose:
(This choice will define how Murder is Meat interacts with temporary spirit formats )

[] Knowledge (Gain a flash of insight into the mind of the Will of Kakuri relating to whatever he is thinking of at the moment)

[] Power (Gain 2 Essence)

[] Judgement (The ability to designate Akuma as beings which roll back your uses of Shintai in spite of being Creatures of Darkness; only one such extra designation can be active at a time)

OOC: Since the shadow literally could not get through 17 points of Soak it decided to waste your time by taking nothing but dodge actions until the last round.

Tempted to go for Knowledge but, uh, what does Shintai do again?

Dammit, I need to check Info tab. I haven't been here in a while and I forgot a lot of the setup.

For anyone not familiar with the terminology Harry and Michael are basically locked out of... reality for the scene unless Harry can smash his head though what is metaphysical reinforced concrete, it does not get any harder than this.

It's our magical hellfire princess transformation. It turns us into a four armed and sworded construct of bronze and verdant flame.

Among other things it is a full heal. It doesn't matter how beat to shit we are. If it refreshes and we pop it we are back to 100% full fighting fit. Being able to do that more than normal means we are a LOT harder to keep down than we otherwise would be... so long as we don't otherwise run out of juice, thus it may actually be better to nab essence.

[X] Power (Gain 2 Essence)

Essence regen is THE most important thing in combat.

We can always get knowledge from the eye and once we hit E3 we can use Boiling sea Mastery to spam shintai.

But Essence regen? Precious beyond words.

To clarify, turning back from Yin-Spirit into a physical presence requires him to roll against the Wall, so either he isn't in that form, or he won't be able to take it while the Wall is 10.

Likewise using Tapestry to teleport or open portals is now extremly difficult.

The Akuma just messed up a lot of its own mobility, its options for retreat (mundane retreat is unlikely to work against our speed and while the sun is shining).

I really hope it has a good plan to profit from this action, otherwise that was a self-own of epic proportions and it is now stuck with either us or the Sword of God and a plucky Wizard.

Cue Michael and the Sword going Zorro on the fabric of reality and cutting a new orifice into the backside of existence.
The man literally cannot face a challenge that he isn't a match for. It's basically impossible for him to face a foe that he can't, at least in theory, beat with his own strength. He can lose. He cannot be overmatched.

This would also not be the first time he stabs a fundamental building block of creation. That's basically what the really old dragons are in Dresden and he killed one of those by walking up and stabbing it.

No, no, it's Sailor Nuclear Hell Princess.

Clippy already has a theme song picked out and everything.
Not to be left out of the conversation, and accompanied by a familiar tune from your childhood, Clippy suddenly chimes in with, "Fighting monsters by moonlight, winning at life by daylight, always rushing toward the next fight, she is the one named Sailor Nuclear Hell Princess!"

Given the importance of Essence to virtually all of our abilities and our limited capacity, I'm going to lean toward the option that helps to recover it.

Gard's opinion (being the only experienced person you have with you) is that it is either planning to kill you all, making the need to escape moot, or it is confident enough in its stealth to pull off a mundane escape... which is not impossible given that you just lost the only person with the Sight (i.e. the only thing that is guaranteed to see through magical stealth if you are willing to risk it). Also the Knight of the Cross is no longer available... or it is him and the wizard against the Will of Kakuri on prepared ground.
