    • this is not what we want Everyone involved in this argument really needs to calm down, and step back. @Deations , @notanautomaton, @C.o.S.a.R, @Aaron Peori, @Sanctaphrax, you have each gotten 25 points for dragging this thread down to Ad Hominem insults, pointless insult posts, accusations of bad faith and lying, and derailing & disrupting the thread for pages. I limited it to one infraction apiece, though most of you had far more than one post that was over the line of civil conversation. Do not repeat this.

    Before anyone asks, this was examined, and no, it is not 'an admission of trolling'. This refers to the derail argument in general.

    @Quantumboost & @azoicennead, your posts were edging the line. Cool off.

    Everyone else, take a breath, and try not to mistake poor communication skills and misunderstanding for 'bad faith' and general derp.

    We don't really operate with a strict definition of bad faith debating on this forum, due to a number of issues which I'm not going to go into at length. However, whilst we do not have a strict standard of bad faith debating, we do identify a number of problematic behaviours which we can stick together under that vague umbrella. One of those is ad-hominem debating; attacking the person rather than their argument. Unfortunately, you seem to have slipped into this yourself. Whilst I can understand that forum arguments can get rather vexing at times, please try to avoid doing this in future.

    I find that taking a bit of quiet time away from the computer if things are starting to get heated works wonders.

    Yeah, no, telling people how to get access to copyrighted pdfs in their entirety isn't really kosher here. Admittedly, your advice was about half a level up from "Google the names of the books", but still, it crossed the line. Due to the fairly general nature of your advice rather than providing specific links, and due to the fact that you seem not to have been acting with bad intent, just a little foolishness, I'm letting you off with a warning. Please endeavour not to do this again.

    Reposting whole pages of comics isn't okay unless the creator has said they don't mind them being reposted. As far as I know, the Kill Six Billion Demons creator hasn't. I've removed the strip in question. Please don't post any comic panels in full again, even incredibly cool ones like KSBD. A link to the relevant page on the webcomic itself would probably be fine, though.

    warning Sadly, I'm now going to have to take this far too seriously as well.

    I get that arguments can be extremely frustrating. I also get how incredibly annoying it can be when one of our more literal posters responds to a clear joke as if it were serious. I really do. But that doesn't make it okay to use this kind of language in response, you know? It needlessly escalates the situation and has the potential to hurt feelings. Next time someone annoys you, go for a walk or something.

    I'm going not going to infract you here, since I think there was some degree of provocation and whilst you did go over the line, you could still see it behind you. But I want you to consider yourself warned. Furthermore, if I ever see you using this kind of language in this thread to another user again, I will infract you and I may take additional steps to ensure it doesn't reoccur. So in short, please don't do this again.
