It's fine.

But please keep in mind people, despite the name this isn't a Crackfic. I'm actually trying to give the characters credit here. So a death, if it happens, is meant to be tragic.

A Grail War is an awful thing.
Right. Sorry. I got my hands on carnival phantasm recently and it's put me in more of a fate is hilarious mood recently. I'll try to keep that out of my perception of this quest going forward.

Also, perhaps I missed it, but where is Sauron at in his own continuity at the time of his summoning? Is he from before the fall of Numenor, when he was Annatar? Is he the Necromancer of Dol Guldur, etc.?

*Ayako POV*

"Heeeey Minori! Where'd you put the chicken stock?" you call out, turning your head towards his bedroom.

"I didn't move it!" Minori calls back.

You frown, staring at his closed bedroom door. You debate, briefly, kicking it open and dragging his sorry ass out of it into the kitchen to actually help you prepare dinner. With mom and dad out it was up to you to make the meals, and your brother, having gotten that new playstation thing, had been spending all of his time in his room. But then he had been a lot more quiet recently since the mugging.

You sigh.

Boys.

They were all a major pain in your ass. Most notably at the moment, Shirou. He was a wizard, you still weren't sure what you thought about that. He was also your boyfriend. He was also in hilarious danger. He was also at a Yakuza compound. He was also injured.

He was also.

He was also.

You sigh again. You hadn't been kidding up on that roof, you weren't going to give up on him, he needed support, from normal people. Not a weird magic lady, not that tan guy, and you weren't even sure what Sakura was doing but probably not her either. You weren't sure what she could do honestly, stammer somebody to death? He was in over his head, but that was normal for Shirou. Only, before now, he would simply be after school late fixing something. Now he was fighting people, and you weren't sure how to help him.

You weren't even sure you could help him besides being emotionally supportive, and that actually really fucking bothered you. You weren't some fucking maiden that broke kiribi and wished him on his merry way. You didn't trust those 'servants', not that hooded chick, not the winged lady, not that… admittedly handsome tall guy. There was another with them you vaguely recalled as well, brown hair you think but… you didn't really sense anything off about her. You groaned, staring down at the empty pot that still had no chicken stock in it.

Thinking about it would get you nowhere. You'd need to start practicing with your bow more, then you'd ask him if you could help. You weren't going to just wait to find him injured again, abso-fucking-lutely-not. Turning around, you move to the lower cabinets, your hand moving to the door-

*Clatter*

You pause, hand an inch away from the handle. Did the old herb box in there fall down again? Reaching forward once more you pull the door open to reveal the herb box right where it always sat on the little shelf dad built. No chicken stock, and… a new box sitting in the middle of the cabinet. Well, it wasn't a box, it was a full sized… chest?

You tilt your head, staring at it. The thing was nearly as tall as the actual cabinet, and, reaching forward you pull it out, finding it surprisingly light despite the fact that it was nearly the size of your torso. With a grunt you set it down onto the kitchen floor and stare at it. It was made of fine wood with iron reinforcement, and a simple gold lock on the front with nothing actually holding it closed besides. You lower yourself, looking at the lock, and find a simple loop for a lock to go through, but it was empty.

Frowning, you place your hands on either side of the chest and open it…

Revealing…

A kid's toy wand? You stare at it, It was a red, maybe pink stick with a little star at the end of it, wings jutting out to either side. Next to it was a piece of parchment with writing in ink, so fresh you could see the ink running across the paper to drip on the red velvet that made up the interior of the chest. On it was a simple, short message.

Good Luck

… What?

*Medea POV*

You stare down at the book in your hands. It was an old scroll book, with worn pages, torn edges, and glue that only hinted at binding. It was an awful book, and yet, there was not a single mage on this planet that would not have killed simply to gaze upon it. Such were the treasures of Alexandria, and you weren't even going to begin to question how Circe came upon it. You were also only pretending to read it, as if you were to remove your gaze from it for even a moment, Circe's grinning face would force itself into your vision and devour you like Charybydis would a ship.

You can sense her however, hovering, waiting, and after rereading the page for the seventeenth time without processing it you flit your eyes up. Circe is sitting in a plush chair just across from you, in your room. Her hands were pressed together, fingertips tapping each other in a rhythm equal in time to the rhythm of her feet tapping against the floor. And she was smiling. No, she was smirking, no, she was grinning from ear to ear, eyes alight with mischief as she stared at you.

"He should be waking soon, then we shall depart." You say simply.

"How was it?" Circe asks, leaning forward.

"This scroll? I am still studying it," you reply.

"Medea dear, your darling teacher asked you a question." Circe says, an edge to her tone.

"My 'darling teacher' is the one who allowed my own wards to be breached." You reply, glaring at Circe.

Circe snorts. "If it grew to be a problem, I would have dealt with it. Dreams are one of my specialties."

"I would prefer if you didn't put my master in danger." You growl.

"Master? Is that all he is to you? And here I thought you were getting rather… hands on."

"Must you?"

"No," Circe replies, the grin only becoming wider. "But I will. It's good for you, Medea, and him."

You sigh, setting the tome to the side. "I would prefer you not to meddle."

"And I would prefer you to drop the act, but we can't always get what we want now can we?" Circe leans back in her own seat, staring at you for several moments before speaking again. "Tell me honestly Medea, do you love him?"

You pause, the tension in the air dropping, as well as the barb you had prepared on your lips. Did you?

"I am a temporary being Circe, and he is but a man."

Circe's expression goes flat, "Medea, I want you to think on your teachings, what animal resided within the domain of Hekate?"

"Dog is the primary, with several others." You answers instinctively, cringing slightly as you realize you answered her much like you did in your youth.

"Indeed, and Artemis is associated with cats amongst others." Circe replies airily. "Tell me Medea, do you still worship Hekate? Or have you switched to Artemis?"

You frown, thinking of that… flighty goddess. "No."

Circe smiles. "Then remain a bitch and avoid becoming a pussy my dear pupil."

You throw the tome at her. She laughed regardless, even as it slammed into her face.

...fuck, things are fucked enough that Zelretch is interfering. Considering this reads more like Canon Zelretch than Fanon that's really bad.
Canon Zelretch is like Jotaro, he steps in when help is necessary but also considers himself seprate from humans.
Him interfering says suits not great right now but upside he didn't interfer directly or use his Position as Wizard Marshall to fix things so we aren't completely fucked.
He isn't giving direct advice either, just help to sombody who found their resolve, so he may be acting as a teacher rather than the Wizard Marshall.

Get fucked Medea. Yo aunty is here and she refuses to let you stew.

that new playstation thing
nobody tell BB
He was also in hilarious danger.
It's only hilarious part of the time, honestly. Sometimes the danger is just too much of a bad time to be funny.
you weren't even sure what Sakura was doing but probably not her either. You weren't sure what she could do honestly, stammer somebody to death?
You didn't need to do Sakura dirty like that, but it's all the funnier that you did.
not that… admittedly handsome tall guy.
If only you knew, Ayako. If only you knew.

........................................................................Prilya shenanigans?????????????????

Or have you switched to Artemis?"

You frown, thinking of that… flighty goddess. "No."

Circe smiles. "Then remain a bitch and avoid becoming a pussy
God I love the digs at FGO artemis and atalanta here LOL

For some reason, I feel like Ayako will keep Magical Ruby in check much better than Rin or Illya ever could. She's had to keep Minoru, Shinji and Shirou in check before afterall. She has experience.

Magical Girl Ayako...never would have thought such idea even existed.

But unfortunately for Ayako, Ruby Is going to tease her relationship with Shirou to kingdom come, and maybe even make some comment about Ayako "being Old for a Magical Girl"

Also, better hurry with Shirou Medea, because Circe's patience Is Grand but not Eternal
