A mixture of horror, pride and pity.

To explain the first and last, he never wanted Verge to develop into a battle-hardened killer. For the timid and pacifistic Drimogemon to have become such a *great warrior* is a tragedy in of itself. The *Verge* he knew has more or less been killed and replaced by something wrong.

However... on the other side of that coin, he'd be glad that at east Verge has become strong as is living up to his ideals in a fairly practical manner.

In comparison, Gnaw is mostly happy about Verge's changes, barring Verge being stronger than himself. Still feels like he's more or less a different mon and misses that little Drimogemon, not that he'd ever admit it.
Just wait until all of Verg's friends and family find out about the voices in his head. Gramps would probably be the most worried about that whilst people like Luna and Thresh might be the least given their upbringing.

So Monster Hunter World has been mentioned a lot in the Off Topic part of Discord and that got me thinking about which weapons fits the Squad's playstyle best. And here is my take on what their hypothetical Monster Hunter Weapons would be starting with the Pre-Evolution Squad.

Starting with Pre-Evolution Verge his weapon would be the Hunting Horn, as it reflects his combat ability at this stage of life. To elaborate the Hunting Horn fits because during this stage in life, Verge didn't actually have his martial arts skill so his combat style is basically brawling and using his species natural weapons, supplemented by his healing magic.

Next for Pre-Evolution Pit his weapon would be the Hammer, as it most appropriately represents his preferred combat style of getting inside his opponents face and bashing them with his blunt staff and fists. The Hammer also represents his lack of defense and his shortness during this time as the hammer has one of the shortest range of all the Monster Hunter Weapons.

For Pre-Evolution Beat his weapon of choice would be the Dual Blades, as it reflects his Agile nature as a Stingmon as well the fact that he is basically a duel wielder already with his two hidden spikes, plus the Dual Blades is basically the edgiest weapon in Monster Hunter which reflects Beat's edgy nature during his Champion days.

Pre-Evolution Ardat's weapon of choice would be the Gunlance, or to be more specific Ardat would be the player who uses nothing but Wyvern Fire and be useless until the cool down timer finishes and they use Wyvern Fire again which reflects Ardat's preference for using big powerful and flashy spells that nonetheless renders her useless until she could recover.

After Ardat is her deceased guardian Sir Scratch and his weapons of choice would be the Sword and Shield, which reflects his versatility as a Mistymon being capable in both physical and mystical matters, which is reflected in the Sword and Shield pre-Iceborne ability of being the only weapon that use items while drawn.

So for Pre-Evolution Squad their play styles are:
  • Verge: Hunting Horn
  • Pit: Hammer
  • Beat: Duel Blades
  • Ardat: Gunlance
  • Sir Scratch: Sword and Shield
For the Post-Evolution squad their hypothetical Monster Hunter Weapons would be.

For current Verge his weapon would be the Great Sword reflecting his status as the strongest member of the squad whenever they share an evolution stage, and the fact that his weakest physical stat is Agility. The Great Sword also fits his fighting style in general as a counter attacker waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

For current Pit his new weapon would be the Duel Blades which fits his ability to go ORA ORA ORA ORA on his opponents, plus it also fits with the fact that his lowest stats are Endurance and Fortitude, reflecting the Duel Blades tendency to lose stamina quickly and the fact that they cannot guard and rely on dodging hits to avoid damage. Also given Pit's revelation as Daemon's reincarnation the Duel Blades demonization ability is quite appropriate, and the Archdemon mode even more so.

Post-Evolution Beat's weapon of choice would be the Insect Glaive which aside from the fact that Beat is an insect digimon wielding a spear, also fits in with the fact that Beat is now one of the two remaining Squad members with natural flight capabilities, which fits with the Insect Glaive's ability pole vaulting capabilities which makes it possible for you to remain in air the entire time your in combat, simulating flight.

For Post-Evolution Ardat her weapon of choice would be the Long Sword, reflecting her new found graceful nature... As well as her Chunni nature and newfound affinity with all things weeb, as the fact is that the Long Sword without the doubt the most weeaboo weapon in Monster Hunter, with its Helmbreaker being the flashiest move in the game, not helped by the fact that her teacher Sanzomon is the leader of the most Weeaboo sect in the Holy Host.

Lastly is Sparks as he was left for last as his fighting style changed the least among the squad, and for that his weapon would be the Light Bowgun as their variety of ammo reflects the versatile nature of his spells, his high Agility mirrors the Light Bowguns mobile nature and his tricky personality as the Light Bowgun's special round Wyvernblast is basically planting mines.

  • Verge: Great Sword
  • Pit: Duel Blades
  • Beat: Insect Glaive
  • Ardat: Long Sword
  • Sparks: Light Bowgun

You know if Duskmon is here to give us the location of the count I am gonna be a mix of happy and annoyed. Happy cause hey we know the location of the fanged prick but annoyed cause he is way out of our league in terms of power even if we were to digivolve.

Oh goodie goodie now I can't help but imagine the squad as being variius invaders in a monster hunter style quest with digimon instead of normal monsters.

Pit is Rajang, Beat is Seregios, Sparks is the B-52, and Verge is the hungry menace.

...Except this time when when the later two meet up instead of getting into a turf way they fist bump and start working together... even doing a jogress at higher levels.

Edit: Oh and Sparks drops Giromon as bombs on mass from his book as he flies overand laughs at you if he does enough damage because he's a troll like that.... also his music is literally being played by a hovering sound system that follows him around.

28th Of Fire: *Duskmon/Ser Schwartz* & The Crucial Message
[] Agreeable: What he said was correct, putting saving innocent lives in front of ones own revenge is more important in the grand scheme of things.

===

Every single muscle in your entire frame tenses up, throbbing to an agonizing degree as this veritable well of overflowing darkness bears down upon you. Internally your instincts screech out, practically begging you to turn tail and flee with all your might.

No!

However the part of you that might have once been receptive to that terror is long gone. Retreating is one thing, but you refuse to simply turn tail and run, even in the face of pure deletion itself.

I will stand and I will fight… or retreat in good order.

One of the Angemon you were carrying faints, several Pidmon immediately take flight and the Darcmon… well all six of them leap forward with shouts halfway between terror and fury, then beating on the dark knight with their swords and maces.

Your foe(?)'s many eyes blink in surprise at the sudden violence perpetrated upon him, not particularly bothered by the attacks bouncing off his armor, but clearly perplexed that they'd actually try and harm him like this.

"Excuse me… could you please uh. Not hit me anymore?" The bewildered knight asks before coughing into one skull-hand. "You ladies seem nice and all but… I'm kind of on the clock right now, so…" His words earn a confused tilt of your head, while the Darcmon pause in their assault.

"On a clock? Your feet are currently on the ground, are they not?" You question, glancing down towards the absolute abomination.

Mayhaps the clock is invisible?

"Oh! That's just an expression." The Ultimate(?) replies, maneuvering one sword to point at his feet. "I'm not actually on a clock, but it means I'm working."

"Aaaah. I understand now. My thanks."

"No problem Gryzmon. Now…" He turns his attention to the glaring angels, then moves. You expect the blur of motion to end in a spray of data as the womon are obliterated… but are instead treated with the sight of him patting one on the head, treating her like Gramps did overly rowdy baby digimon. "There's no need to fight right now. We're okay, we're A-okay."

"S-sure." The red-faced Darcmon mumbles, turning away from the many-eyed mon. Her fellows do the same, all hints of aggression gone in the face of… whatever it is that just happened. You're honestly not sure.

Having finally found her voice, Taomon raises her brush at the newly arrived digimon and growls out a *greeting*... or rather a demand.

"Oh servant of evil by Kami I command you to reveal what business have with my subordinate."

"Servant of evil? Ouch." The unknown digimon recoils like he's been physically struck. "I didn't you mon thought of us like that… hmm… I can't say I'm feeling compelled to tell you. Uh... maybe you didn't say the words hard enough? I mean, I don't know much about magic so…"

I do not believe her words were any sort of spell… hmm. Should I correct him?

Taomon begins to seethe in rage, her brush shaking in pure anger at the mon's comment… while the evil-feeling warrior simply continues to look at her in confusion. It's at this point that Sparks breaks out into a low chuckle and takes a step closer, entering the conversation before your leader can respond.

"That was one heckuva an entrance, hehe, gotta say I like your style."

"I was always told that a good introduction is key when speaking to new mon." He nods before, raising one *hand* to his head in a quick Bulwark-style salute. "I'm known as Ser Schwartz the Duskmon! It's good to meet you all!" With that the swords retract back into his hands, doing little to lower his overall threat level.

Ser Schwartz? That is an… interesting nickname I suppose. Hmm. Duskmon… I have no knowledge of that species.

Around you, Throne Taomon and every single Darcmon flinch back at his words, doing everything they can to avoid meeting gazes with the newly-named *Duskmon*. This act brings up more confusion not only from you, but from the rest of your allies… except Sparks. Who just breaks out in laughter again.

What does he know?... No. Focus Verge.

The entire situation is surreal. On the one paw Duskmon has more or less disarmed the tense situation with a few choice words and actions that make him seem kind of nice… but on the other he's still emitting a world-ending aura of gluttony, darkness and death. Those contradicting themes war endlessly in your mind struggling to find a victor, though none emerges.

In the end you simply have to shrug it off and ask about his first statement.

"You had… *business* with me?"

"I sure do Bellator." *Sir Schwartz* chirps before reaching into a bag on his hip. To your surprise, he takes out a loaf of Travel Bread, then shuffles closer. "But first I think it is tradition to break bread is it not?"

Break… it?

"I do not know." You admit with a shake of your head. "But I must ask, what does business have to do with breaking bread?"

"Huh, you know I'm not sure." Duskmon admit with a shrug. "Maybe something about chopping it in half representing equality? Or friendship?"

Ah, that makes sense I suppose

"I see, then very well. We shall break that loaf of bread."

"Oh spirits, now there's two of'em." Sparks whines, firmly cradling his head between both hands. Ignoring that oddity, you reach out and carefully tear away part of the load with a bite. Duskmon shoves the remaining half into his… faceplate, somehow forcing the entire thing through without any actual opening presenting itself.

How… is this some sort of energy manipulation? Or sorcery?

"Mmm, tasty! Even after eating so many it's a mystery how they manage to make bread this..." The knight trails off as his torso emits a low growl of hunger. "Oh sorry about that, I haven't eaten for about… an entire half hour! Mind if I grab a snack?"

"Not at all."

"Thanks!" With that proclamation, the Ultimate(?) takes out a second spatial bag from his hip and upends it onto the ground. An entire table laden to the brim with freshly cooked meals drops out. The piles of meat, vegetables and sweets look numerous enough to feed an entire division of Host troops, and despite having recently supped, your mouth begins to water at the tell-tale scent of honeyed meat.

At first you think he means to share the feast, after all not even Pit could put down that much by himself. You're wrong. Completely and totally wrong.

*Sir Schwartz* assaults the collection with quick and callous efficiency, his body turning into little more than a black blur as it shovels in morsels at a truly flabbergasting pace. The mon puts food away at a pace you wouldn't have believed possible mere seconds ago. Not even your master and Ardat combined, would be able to compare to this… abomination. It takes him less than five minutes to put away what had to have been at least one literal ton of food and Duskmon doesn't seem particularly full by the end either. He just kind of stares disappointedly at the empty table before sucking it back up into his satchel.

Spirits below… what kind of monster is he?

"Excuse me." Rhinomon grunts, drawing the knight's attention. "I don't recognize you as a target on the Host's bounties."

"Well yea, no duh." Duskmon scoffs as if the observation was obvious. "It's not like I'd be caught dead with those posers… though Astamon does look pretty cool I guess."

"So you're not going to delete us?" The same Darcmon he'd headpatted pipes up.

"By the Great Tree no! I'm a proud knight of Bulwark! I introduced myself with a *ser* and everything! I'd only slay you if I was told to. So you know… you'd all be deleted already if Du-Leopardmon had ordered that."

That phrase again...

"Ahem." Sparks coughs in a bid to get the conversation back on track. "Ya had *business* with Verge?"

"Oh yes that's right! It's why I'm here now let me just…" The Duskmon fiddles with his original bag again and eventually brings out a long scroll, one emblazoned with Bulwark's flag. "This message has something about siblings and investigating. I'm not actually supposed to actually talk about it."

A message of siblings and investigations… Lunamon! Thresh! It has to have more information on them!

"Ple-"

"Then deliver the message and depart *sir knight*." Taomon orders, seeming to have regained her confidence. "We must continue our retreat in case the Gloaming deigns to pursue us."

"Them? Nah, those guys haven't gone anywhere yet."

"And how is it that you've obtained that information *Sir Schwartz*, unless you are working with Daemon's worshippers."

"I mean… I can still feel them all sitting there?" Duskmon replies with a helpless shrug.

"That's preposterous!" Taomon accuses, thrusting her brush out at the knight. Duskmon returns the favour, pushing out a sword and pointing back in her direction.

"You're prepostomous!"

Ergh. That was not correct... no! The message Verge!

"The scroll." You grunt out, nodding towards the scroll. "Please hand it over."

"Whoah there Verge." Sparks protests, putting his mechanical hand on your forelimb. "I think it might be a wee bit better to read it when we're ya know. In private? Not when we're retreating and surrounded by friggen' strangers."

… that is a good point.

"Your words are wise."

===Choose One:

[] Thank Duskmon for the information and make all haste back to base, you've got to reunite with Beat and *The Lone Wolves* i.e. Gnaw and his friends. Not to mention talking this new information over with HolyAngemon with all haste.

[] Use the available traveling time to question Duskmon about the Bulwark and his position within it. Is he a "Chevalier" like Imperialdramon? Or a lower rank? And what's his relationship with Leopardmon.

[] Take this chance to ask Duskmon if he would be interested in a spar at a later date. Sure the mon feels like an evil abomination of hunger and darkness, but his actions so far differed from by far… well mostly.

===Authors Note: Yes I had plenty of fun writing *Sir Schwartz* I really wanted to take a different route with writing one of the most edgy digimon out there. This guy is partially inspired by the protagonist of @Pheist 's quest, though not a direct rip off. Once again, this is an omage.

Don't think I missed Duskmon was about to call Leopardmon what I suspect to be Dukemon.

But yeah we're technically still on the clock so let's wrap this mission up.

Questions later we got things to do. Also interesting Duskmon wonder how he got to this form anyways.

Well that's certainly an unexpected personality
The piles of meat, vegetables and sweats look numerous enough to feed an entire division of host troops,
Nasty.
Host
you'd all be deleted already if Du-Leopardmon had ordered that."
So it seems the confusion over his species's name is an In Universe thing :V

No, he was clearly about to say Duftmon, the other name for the species.

More information on our possible future comrades-in-arms is of the good.

Taomon begins to seethe in range, her brush shaking in pure anger at the mon's comment…
Rage.
"It's not like I'd be dead with those posers… though Astamon does look pretty cool I guess."
I think you're missing a word here, do you mean "I'd be caught dead with those posers".
"This message has something about siblings and investigating. I'm not actually supposed to actually talk about it."
The first " isn't the same color as the rest.
A message of siblings and investiagions
Investigations.
[] Use the available traveling time to question Duskmon about the Bulwark and his position within it. Is he a "Chevalier" like Imperialdramon? Or a lower rank? And what's his relationship with
I think the sentence is incomplete did you mean what his relationship with Leopardmon?
"By the Great Tree no! I'm a proud knight of Bulwark! I introudced myself with a *ser* and everyhing! I'd only slay you if I was told to.
Introduced and everything.
Taomon orders, seeming to have regained her confidence."We must continue our retreat in case the Gloaming deigns to pursue us."
Add a space between the . And "

Also removed the gray color, because it makes the words hard to see.

He is the second strongest champ! We have to fight him someday.

>Drexal- And he is a good squire mailboy

A chance to settle the debate for whether or not Duskmon is Chevalier, if he says no then we know that the Chevalier rank is for Royal Knights only.

This might chance to spar might be one of our last chance to train our stats before we evolve.

Yeah I can see Sechs character traits in Sir Schwartz, his gluttony, referring to himself as a Knight, the dichonomy between his good nature and natural corruptive evil feel... Yeah I think you're homage is doing Sechs justice.

I personally like pheist's one a bit more, he was a good boi who wanted his family to be happy but the world just wouldn't let them be.

Because him and Verge deserve each other.

How? What?! WHY???

Something to note about this Duskmon is that behind his quirkyness the mon is still a killer. He flat out admitted that he would killed everyone in the group if that had been his orders. Dude wasn't kidding either.

He'd have done it with the gusto he showed when eating that meal.

So he is basically is the resulting digimon if Verge and Iris had a child together.

Oh I don't doubt he is a killer, nearly all digimon are by the very nature of the world itself and I very much doubt he'd get very far in the Bulwark if he wasn't willing to get his hand dirty.
So he is basically is the resulting digimon if Verge and Iris had a child together.
I wonder if Verg can have any children related to him by data anyways, wouldn't surprise me if he can't given his data.
