3rd Of Steel Grand Spirit Tournament: Letters From Home & Warning A Ward
You put down the letter from Electown, the beginnings of a smile crawling its way onto your face.

Congrats on beating up that brother of yours, I knew my student wouldn't lose to pure savagery. And beating down AncientIrismon? I think you just might be the best student I ever had.

I'm looking forward to seeing you deck that arrogant angel's face and winning Malkimon's tournament. We'll all be there to watch, so make sure to give it your best effort. Just make sure not to embarrass your teacher!

When you win don't forget to dedicate your victory to me and Electown! After all you turning out to be this awesome was obviously because of how I, your big sister, and Frigimon raised you!

Don't worry Verge, I've got all the brats here trained to cheer for you, even if you are kind of scary.

P.S. don't even dare think of losing okay? You're better than that!

But if you do, then don't worry about it, that stupid angel is probably cheating anyways.

Love, your wonderful and gracious older sister. Fu.

I know the other two dearies are telling you to win, and that's all fine and good. But be careful alright? I don't want to see you get hurt sweetie, or lord forbid, permanently injured by that uncouth Angemon.

And, good heavens. I know one of the reasons you entered the tournament was because of me Verge, but don't feel the need to push yourself because of an old maid. Still, the Lord would strike me down if I didn't thank you for everything you've done sweetie. I'm certain Gramps is as proud as can be, wherever he is now.

I'm sorry I couldn't do more for you and Sparks. Perhaps if I had you wouldn't have suffered through so much.

With my full love and regards, Caretaker Frigimon of Electown.

You store the letter into your bag with a thought, warm feelings of contentment and nostalgia rising up as you take a sip of tea. If you were determined to defeat Angemon before, the knowledge that your friends and family from Electown are coming…

Zeha, I can't afford to lose. Not with all of them watching, not with all of them here.

If not for one factor you'd already be in the Flux Mountains training for the match. However…

A Scorpiomon plops down in the chair across from you, his impeccably clean chitin shining in the light of dusk. Scourge looks at you with a tilted head, all three eyes lit up with curiosity. He lets out a few short hisses, which you quickly translate into his greeting.

"Aye, and it's good to see you again as well."

The Insect digimon lets out a short chitter, then gingerly takes his own teacup in hand. Which is…strange, he seems more amicable now that Warren isn't here.

Mayhaps their interactions put Scourge on edge?-Focus Verge, he's speaking.

Scourge lets out a series of questioning clicks, then plops a green crystal onto the table.

"A warning, that's correct. You should stop using it as soon as possi-"

A stringer plunges down into the table, splitting it in half with an audible *crack* of splintering wood. You let out a sigh, having expected as much and calmly catch both the teapot and your cup from the air before either can spill.

The strongest of your three wards springs up, ready to storm out of the restaurant-

"Stop."

-but your focused will pins the Ultimate in place before he can take more than a couple steps. Stubbornly the Insect digimon resists your attention, struggling to take another step away. However he may as well be trying to move a mountain.

After a few moments you allow Scourge to at least turn his head around.

"You will listen. The Chickarax crystal is turning mons into… mindless creatures. Feral monsters that can only be purged." All three of his eyes widen in shock at that, then flick to the pale green crystal on the food. Though they quickly narrow again, this time in suspicion.

He lets out a series of dubious hisses and almost accusing chitters.

"No, Warren was not involved… and correct. I haven't seen any cases personally." He perks up at that, ready to argue, but you shut him down with another effort of will. "However, I do trust my sources." Namely Ciel and Leopardmon.

Another glare, and several furious chitters ring out. You hold back a frown, and barely resist the urge to sigh.

"Very well." The mountain of will pressing down on him evaporates, allowing Scourge to fully turn around. Your eyes meet again, and he nods. "But I'm certain Tuwarmon will confirm my warning."

Your ward shrugs once, grudgingly hisses a goodbye, then leaves.

Without paying for the damaged table.

===AN: Here's snipppet #1 for tonight. Next bit is the arrival at Flux mountains again.

I'm going to be honest here even if it is unpopular, Verge should have saved everyone the grief and trouble by putting Scourge down now.

Happy to do it and you all enjoyed this trip! Just one from the 30 and all for the sake of beating the living shit out of Not!Lucemon. Me with pure stat points and thresholds while other hard workers with skill points.

Also Scourge really has been hit with rebellion when bad influences come.

Oh boy oh boy, most of our remaining family - childhood and surrogate alike - is going to be arriving at this Tournament, completely incidentally the ground zero for the next Great War, to cheer us on! What joyous and totally-not-alarming news!

Hmmm, wonder if this will trigger our final jogress or mega evolution
I figure mega evolution is mostly going to be centered around confronting the Slayer. We do have the foreshadowed jogress of Marsmon on the table but I mostly think this arc, even the finale is going to be centered around where Verge truly stands when he's going all out.

Though we could absolutely see Verge pull on the power of friendship

3rd Of Steel: The Hunt; Arrival & Preperations Start
Both Grademon and yourself (In Gryzmon form) shift through reality in a blur, before setting down upon the floors of Bulwark's Flux Mountain base. The swordswomon blinks, momentarily unsteady from the sudden shift in surroundings and gravity. You however, are long used to such things, and waste no time in sliding back up to your Ultimate frame.

The switch has become easier with each passing day, your long term training in the subject resulting in near effortless switching.

"Alright, there ya go." Sparks says before throwing out a mock salute. "I've gotta go and… hehehe, knock somemon down a peg. Have fun with your date…" He pauses for a moment before quickly tossing you the tracking talisman made from SaberLeomon's hair. "Er, right and you'll need this." With that he teleports again, leaving the two of you alone in the receiving room.

"Hmm?" Grademon eyes the empty air with naked interest. "Convenient."

"Aye."

Several moments pass in silence, the two of you simply looking at each awkwardly.

Leopardmon was supposed to have a mon present to escort her away, why has he not arrived yet?

"He… mentioned a date?" The Bounty hunter murmurs in a bid to make small talk. "I was not aware we were set to duel-" Her sentence is cut off as the mechanical door slides open, and a red blur enters the room.

"Ah my knight! How good to see your face once more!" Both your gazes switch over to Ardat, whom stops her tirade before it can start up. The Ladydevimon's lilac eyes lock onto the bounty hunter, quickly scanning her up and down. After a moment she decides… something, which causes her frown flips into a smirk of superiority.

The witch pointedly crosses both arms under her sizable chest, then stares down her nose at the Warrior Digimon.

Grademon blinks again, confused by the strange demon and her actions. You don't particularly get it either. Fortunately you don't have to wait long before a Commandramon sprints into the room, huffing and puffing from exertion.

"I'm here on orders for Grademon sirs! I'm supposed to escort a *Grademon* to their new quarters sir!" The Bounty Hunter nods, then calmly follows him out the door.

Ardat shoots you a… strange, pouting look. For a moment you consider asking her about… whatever caused it, but quickly decide otherwise. There's something else you wish to know more.

"I desire your assistance on a matter." With that simple statement, the coy jealousy washes away into excitement, and you quickly carry on before her dignified facade can break down. "I'm aware that your skill in trinary is exceptional."

"Of course I can-*ahem*. I suppose I be magnanimous and lend you my glorious, transcendent aid."

"My thanks."

"That'll have ta wait for later don'tcha know?" A voice interrupts again. Though your annoyance only lasts until the figure steps into eyesight.

"BlackGalgomon."

"That's me, good ta see you again." The Champion greets you with a nonchalant nod. "Orders from up top say I've gotta take ya first thing. Leopardmon says we have'ta run through some special trackin' trainin'. The Boss wants'a full week before ya go hunt that Mega."

"S-surely he'll have time to train with me?' Ardat asks almost pleadingly. You share her sentiment, albeit for different reasons. Fortunately BlackGalgomon is quick to hum out an affirmative.

"But only aft'a we're finished, ya hear?"

I see… then this is going to be a busy week.

===AN: And we're at the next training arc!... which shouldn't be very long. I only need one snippet to handle the tracking, and another to handle the trinary bit. Then we should be good to go on the hunt!

Black To White 29
Black to White 29.

The following minutes after meeting again Mikemon consisted of a mix of a worried rant about how worried everyone (namely her) and chowing down sedatives in the form of drugged meat and cake, again and again as you proved to be resistant to the sedatives. You can't help but feel a small bit of kinship towards those ferals the party had hunted but apparently, this was also a form of punishment for you after she saw the carcass of Vritramon and how it was much bigger and more dangerous than expected.

Your turn would come after Sparks is done, it seemed the Digicore was just too immense and needed her whole attention. So you patiently waited and prepared for it by eating poisoned foods that tasted worse than the dry bread.

When that doesn't seem to be working fast enough, Mikemon of your group pulls out a syringe longer than her entire body and stabs you in the neck with its metal tip. You think that the term was overdose because you didn't believe that so much liquid was possible to be possible to absorb without bloating.

Fortunately, your suffering ends don't have to experience the pain of consuming more foods for long before-

=

By the time you awake, it seemed that barely a single hour passed as you begin a cursory inspection of your body. However nothing jumps out as different, you're not even larger which so far has been the most visual indication of any splice. A further inspection doesn't bring out much either. The only noticeable effect is that your sternum is aching slightly from the mostly-healed wound.

But you feel a bit stronger, barely and your fire was stronger(?). You couldn't really describe it as more than that.

"It almost bites me!" Mikemon shouted in your face.

"Excuse me?" You asked.

What followed was an interesting tale... it seemed that your core could be bypassed in the operation, too stable and hardly but simultaneously being good and very bad because... you weren't the only one in the operation. In the middle of the operation 'you' awoke and took the core, the white flames moved alive and almost consumed the equipment alongside Mikemon if she didn't move away, and only because 'you' were just too focused on getting the core.

The Wyvern took control and attempted to push what was left from the digicore into your own by breaking it and loading it in the most brutal way possible as there was possible in a manner of loading what was left... part of you feels pity for the Vritramon. But it failed thanks to the timely intervention of Leopardmon.

You think that still got a little, barely notable part.

Even with the incident, the contract was left unfulfilled, and instead of data splicing you got a few choices from Leopardmon alongside a reward for taking care of Vritramon who was a 'pain in the ass' for the Bulwark in the words of many who celebrated his dead.

You were still getting the meat from that dragon. A nice boost every day and long-term benefits and hopefully would give the Wyvern an outlet focus.

All for taking care of the bastard.

Nice and all but... Your friend and comrade even grow more than a couple of inches from the operation and had been beginning to take pleasure in mocking you for being taller with a more visible and muscular frame. It was possible that he could be capable of being mightier than Beat and your wards when they were in the Champion stage in pure raw physical capabilities. But that doesn't compare to the most irritating aspect that Sparks has done to break your patience.

All the damn fucking posing and flexing in front of Weddingmon.

You were thankful at Leopardmon giving you an excuse to move away from your brother-in-arms.

"For obvious reasons, I've been informed about the unsuccessful nature of your surgery Verge. Please, allow me to extend an offer in recompose for this tragedy." Leopardmon began to talk.

"I will not explain why I reacted like that." "Otherwise I agreed with the reward."

"Perfection young chevalier. I officially advance unto you a position within the Bulwark. We can always use bright, focused minds to help us in preserving this world from that which threatens it and you young chevalier would be the finest addition as of yet." At his words, you let out a deep tired breath.

This familiar Mega was giving a tempting offer, but you weren't sure that he could help you rescue your lady.

"Naturally you won't be taking my offer now. As to why? Those reasons are private I'm afraid." Leopardmon continued and you watched with attention but there wasn't anything that you could use to understand his actions.

Was the Wyvern or the show of power that you had with Sparks? Both were possible reasons.

"Yes it's true. I can see that you have oaths to fulfill before anything else and I won't stay in the way of those. " And you will be deleted before you broke them.

"What is your game?" You asked aloud before you managed to stop yourself.

"Which is my young chevalier, the offer is indefinite. Should the Host ever prove inhospitable bulwark will be willing to provide you with shelter and succor." He explained being so damn smug about it and loudly yawns.

He got you, there wasn't a way around it. Truly managed to get under your armor.

"I am interested in knowing. Why offer this to me? Why have you wanted me under your command to the point of offering me the title of *Chevalier*?" You asked the Mega.

"Very perceptive young chevalier. All I can offer you in return is the promise that all shall be made clear when the time is right. There are forces at work beyond either of you, at least the *you's* of the present." Another piece of the puzzle.

"Understood." You will find the truth sooner or later.

"Shishishi, think nothing of it young chevalier." The Mega's ears twitch suddenly and he sighs. "Once again, I must depart soon. But before I go, there is two other gifts I will bequeath upon you free of conditions... call it taking care of an issue."

Leopardmon goes down a list of four offers, all of which are rather tempting. Having a vast sum of wealth at your disposal might turn out useful, getting better food free of charge would be best for your training, and making use of Bulwark's Data-Splicers was very tempting if you could gift more power to your lady... then rejected the idea as it would have Lady Ardat uncover herself.

"Bulwark's information network and the food. I must access it for a search and power to get what I desire.."

This may be vital in finding the whereabouts of Thresh, Lunamon, Auger, Gnash, and Snare. And where Grip has vanished to... and alongside where you finally can erase the Count from the server.

"Not what I expected but a welcome surprise young chevalier. Sadly, I must depart presently, but you may work out the exact details with Galgomon. Please be assured that we will do our best to assist your search."

"Thank you." You grudgingly said, it was like pulling a tooth out.

"Why, think nothing of it young chevalier." And with those final words, he vanishes. You blink at the sudden empty air, not sure what he'd just done. There's been no explosion of movement, no blur or flash. Just the faint feeling of displaced air on your fur as he moves out of existence.

Even the Wyvern seems irritated at this Mega.

You didn't even care at this point how he moved this time, just relief that he was out of your view and...

There was more important stuff to take care of like healing a scratch that your comrade earned in the time that you left him alone without supervision, the idiot apparently decided that test his new power and picked a fight with an Ultimate to show off Weddingmon.

And to make it worse, Sparks fucking won and learned absolutely nothing about it.

...Literally, apparently besides a few scratches he just bodied the Ultimate and force them to call him uncle.

Getting the sacks with the payment from Galgomon, showed an impressive amount for Vritramon. And talking about the Legendary Warrior, you had his head in your sack, it was hilarious when you took it out and showed Rinkmon the feral that Sparks and you defeated as DarkKnightmon as she didn't manage to see him before.

It was going to be used as an excuse for why the Squad was late, but the true reason was a banquet that was both free and the last opportunity to talk with the allies of convenience. You decided to just cook with Meikomon instead, you didn't want to consume more food after the cruel and unusual torture that you suffered from the angry feline Digimon. You didn't like the looks that you were given by your squad and members of Gloaming.

Nonetheless, she appreciated your help as the butchering of Vritramon was challenging even with your magic helping your and your spears become easier to wield. You were noticing that your limits began to become inexistent once again and your growth rate increased to the point that you noticed how stronger you had become in a single day when your previous max of Wind Pressure was barely notable weight in your body becoming more like a shield than a method of training unless you pushed it to point that could affect Beat, Scourge and Warren.

Before entering the Locomon, you could sincerely say that you have acquired the strength of an Ultimate, not even a minor one but a relatively strong enough mon to maybe win a few spars against Sir Scratch.

It was a radical change that came beyond expectations.

But you still continued your training, the seven days inside the Locomon didn't make it possible to train Void Step adequately but gave you a chance of improving your spells and get a read of Sparks' very own library of magic, in fact, it was easy to find both him and you reading and exchanging notes while covered in high-pressure force surrounding both of us.

You knew the truth, your comrade Sparks just wanted to show off how strong he was now by taking the training that you struggled with so much and adapting to it so fast because his frame was that suited for it.

It was pure endurance and willpower, whoever deactivated the spell first was going to be the loser. A duel of two mage-type digimon, it didn't matter that the Gladimon species wasn't as suited for sorceries as the Wizardmon and variations, you had your pride and will not be defeated by this.

Day by day, be studying, eating, or even resting this grind continued but the fire of competition rises. It reached the point that you added Pit into the competition and forced the angel digimon to suffer under your multi-cast to show Sparks the difference between reserves and magical might that you had over him.

By the sixth day, Sparks gave up but laughed so much at how strong he had become and how these games showed how insanely strong he has become.

Upon reaching Alt City and getting past the gate security (thankfully without the threat of death this time around) a Pegasusmon delivers an immediate summons to Cherub HolyAngemon's station of office. Pit takes the piece of paper excitedly and drags the rest of you off... until you gave him a slap on the back of the head to remind your dim-witted friend where was the real destination. Your squad was already late by a single day and making HolyAngemon wait would end causing unnecessary troubles.

Like Scourge's presence in the city, his appearance was terrific and reached the point that he had to turn into a weapon to keep the habitants from beginning to panic. No, that a Knightmon carrying a titanic axe many times the size of his frame was much better but your infamy made the streets clear a path to reach the building just in time.

Pit takes over from here, asking directions from a conveniently close Shurimon of darker color and then leading your procession into the Cherub's office. Despite having held it for more than a month the room is still nearly barren, holding only the Ultimate's desk, several chairs of various sizes, and a single picture of SlashAngemon hung up on the far wall.

The former Throne stands behind his carefully arranged desk, patiently waiting as your squad files in.

And he's not alone.

Karatenmon was also in the same room, but you ignore her as HolyAngemon put his attention over you.

"You are late." He commented breaking the silence.

"For a good reason." You told your temporal superior as you brought out the skull of Vritramon. "This was a personal issue that needed to be taken care of before returning."

The weight of the head would have broken his dest so instead of giving it to him, you deposited it again in your bag.

A simple show of power, you had grown so massively that you wouldn't be intimidated.

Something that Karatenmon ignored in her shortsightedness, and a discussion later of less than five minutes Pit rank equaled yours. Both of you had positions worthy of strong Ultimates. Things were moving fast, but had managed to keep the lie and show yourself as an important piece instead of just a pawn to sacrifice against Gloaming forces.

Part of you didn't know if it was because Baromon joined up with the Host or because of the proof that Vritramon's hunt was successful that your squad was left alone without being punished by putting in danger Karatenmon. You don't know how much Leopardmon rewarded the host for the half of the core that the strongest digimon that you had fought, but something was clear... you had a discussion that couldn't be ignored with HolyAngemon.

Power, it was something too important to ignore but the lack of knowledge that you possessed was just too much.

And in the end, in one way or another, your family was going to be whole once again.

That is what DarkKnightmon's reminded you.

2.4K, Part 30! This chapter is just basically how the Wyvern interacts with Code Crown and Leopardmon sweetening a deal before the return to Alt City. Also Sparks is a Pillar Man now.

It would take a true catastrophe for events in Arena City to trigger the Marsmon jogress, because there's a fuck ton of other megas around to deal with such problems.

It is a unique being among the Royal Knights, in that it serves the lord who embodied its own sense of justice with deep, unquestioning loyalty. For example, for the sake of its own justice, it won't hate its lord even if they are called "Evil". For that reason, it has a strong spirit of chivalry and bushido, with a character that honors devotion, fidelity, and courtesy.

So Dynasmon has a tendency for being blunt and just getting straight to the core of the matter?

So Dynasmon has a tendency for being blunt and just getting straight to the core of the matter?
Pretty much, the 'I'm done with this shit, give me a straight answer and an army to fight' meme. Verge doesn't like the secret spy vs spy thing. If Leopardmon/Duftmon just said 'You are a future mega as Dynasmon a Holy Knight of Magic and Loyalty' then the response would be 'You son of daemonbitch, if my Lady comes I'm in.'

As a heads up, I'll he capping the amount of points that can go into Trinary Manipulation (Self) to 179, until after the Angemon fight. This is for story and plot reasons.

The large pool of Omake rewards will be calculated and added to Verge just prior to the SaberLeomon fight.

Beyond that, if anyone has ideas for Ardat and Verge bonding scenes during the hunt, I'm all ears.
