Oh no…is it actually worse than the last time?

Cuz I'm legit more worried for your long term health than anything else at this point.

I have to say @drexal15 if you do decide this is the end. I would rather you leave it open-ended in the vain hope you do come back.

Regardless, thank you so much for one of my favorite quests on this site. Verge has been one of the most enjoyable characters to read about and his arc is one of the most satisfying. Thank you for all the effort you've put into this story.

My opinion, I would like to know how it was supposed to end and put it in the thread( in spoiler). Now I am not sure what is wrong with you drex but is has become increasingly clear that with you issues you are not able to write a quest anymore, this isn't the first time you gone silent on month on end for the quest .

You have stuff going on and it doesn't seem to getting better and instead worsening with you inactive writing periods popping up more I don;t quite see how it'll get better in the near futre, maybe one dya you will but if it ends up taking like a year or 2 would you event want to write this quest anymore at such a time.

Better to just focus on your health then deal with this.

It very much suck it's not a ending proper but I'd very much like closure on it all which can be guaranteed now then the possibility of waiting years if never getting it at all because a lot of quest just go on hiatus to never return or die off.

And if you were to some day somehow return to writing and I think it'd better for you to start with something smaller then this quest.

I hope you get better, drex. If you really feel like you won't make it through this, I'd be fine with the doc idea. There's always a chance.

Sorry about your condition Drexal, I hope you get better and return to complete this quests, but if your going to answer some of our questions, then what would be Verge's Mega evolution and what his stats would be post evolution, just to have that final milestone achievement.

Something for us to look at and see how far Verge and this quest have gone.

It's been a bad few weeks, and It's starting to feel like this is it for me. And I'm not getting better anymore. I'm no longer certain I can finish this quest, and you guys deserve better.

I despise doing this, and I consider it a terrible copout, but I'm asking if you guys want an outline of the last arcs and ending, with Q&A.

Forget the quest Drex and focus on you.

Keep fighting buddy and know that I and others care

Stay safe Drex

I am gonna be completely honest, even had they still kept trying to do updates after this most recent absence I would have probably brought up the possibility of ending the quest anyways. It's not fair on anyone to keep going like that, the player bases to keep having months long absences when the flow of the quest's updates aren't built around that and worry about causing more stress to the qm and it's not fair on the Qm to force themselves when they are suffering from something to try and write out a story and add the stress of running a quest onto their problems they are already dealing with.

Sorry about your condition Drexal, I hope you get better and return to complete this quests, but if your going to answer some of our questions, then what would be Verge's Mega evolution and what his stats would be post evolution, just to have that final milestone achievement.

If drexal goes with the majority opinion it's likely we won't be getting those answers because a lot of sentiment seem to be keep it open in case one day they return to this quest.

Me I am a pessimist and don't really like the idea of just leave it open ended as a just in case because I don't wanna have the possible reality of 5 years on we still never knew how it was gonna end and how the characters lives went on, if drexl goes for leave it open ended for now and like in year or something and if they still aren't up for it they decide to go for a QA in this thread to reveal all the detail then that more fine.

Focus on your own health buddy, there are things that can't be replaced and one of those is one health, so make sure of find the best environment to recover, relax and also keep a good eye on what you put in your body.

It is a shame to see this go, but like everyone else said: you come first. I hope you can recover eventually.

As for what to do with this... well, I like the idea of providing the cliff notes in a spoiler so people who want to know can find out, while everyone else can abstain for now and hope for an eventual continuation. Although this would require that the people who look into such a spoiler tag keep quiet about whatever is inside.

I'm very sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well drex, I can only hope that things get better for you with time and rest.

That being said, if this is the end for Inheritance, thank you so much for all the time and effort you've put into sharing this world with us, it's been a wild ride and I've enjoyed every minute of it.

The End Of Inheritance Outline: New
I've put this off long enough. Hey everyone it's the new year, and while I do want to try and finish things properly, my affliction has made that unlikely. So, the next best thing I can do is give you all the broad strokes of how I intended the rest of inheritance to play out. You all deserve that much for participating in the quest. I've been putting this off for a while, fatigue, anxiety, fear of letting my questers down, and downright procrastination. I would have preferred to end this properly, but my downturns have made me realize that's probably impossible. Honestly I don't think I'll ever be able to run a quest again.

While I couldn't bring the entire story to a satisfactory conclusion, I did manage to complete the basic writing goals I had when starting this story. Namely, Verge's character growth, and the revenge against Repulsa. I know the latter part took a long time, but we got it done.

Now, without further adieu:

====
The Angemon fight. I've cooked this for a while, had the outline done for the better part of a year, but I've never managed to flush it out into a full update. To summarize thing, Verge was going to utilize his trinary manipulation to shrink slowly during the course of the fight to throw Angemon off, condition him to avoid melee, and turn his energy bolt spamming against him by absorbing it into the metal terraformed terrain. Making him go for a big all or nothing clash.

Verge winning or losing the clash would've depended on the move he chose to use in return. Relying on power, technique, or tenacity. Winning or losing this match wouldn't change much however, because it's meant to set up the real climax of the tournament.

Astamon challenging SlashAngemon to a final duel.

Verge would've had a scene talking with SlashAngemon about the future, and working together to avoid conflict between Bulwark and The Host. Perhaps even having their data splicers look at Ophanimon to try and help her. Going into the fight, both would be confident of his victory, but Sparks would find the whole situation unnerving. As from their chess matches, he's aware that Astamon must have some sort of plan.

In the ensuing fight, it would be shown that Astamon is a Martial Arts master amping himself up with the sin of Sloth, and a very tricky fighter. But SlashAngemon would wear him down over time through his own greater power and swordsmanship. SlashAngemon would even come close to taking Astamon's head, before the Demon Lord pulls a last second surprise. He was the one to have obtained the stolen Beelzemon shotgun meant for schwartz, and he hits SlashAngemon's core with a pair of sloth infused slugs.

Whereas Astamon would proceed to fling off his coat, scarf gloves, and shirt, Yakuza style, before beating the mortally wounded SlashAngemon to death. Both for his own catharsis, and to provoke Verge.

Malkimon would've used this time to try and trap Astamon in a pocket dimension for her own revenge, only for it to be shattered by the shadowy claw of Belphemon. Revealing that Astamon to some extent can draw on the power of his Mega form. In doing so he manages to tag Malkimon, wounding her but sparing her life due to his past relationship with shujin (Verge's daddy). It would later revealed that drawing on his full Demon Lord power comes at come at immense cost to him, as it drags him closer to evolution and being trapped as Belphemon.

Astamon would proceed to leave, and meet his generals, alongside Hi-Andromon outside of Alt city's barrier. Where he'd reveal the letters between Pit and Noir, point out Pit's daemon blue eyes, and point out she can feel the sin of Wrath springing up around Pit. Having all the evidence thrust into her face would make Ophanimon snap, and hit her falldown mode. However before she can burn down more than half of the city, Sanzomon would show up, reveal herself as Sakuyamon and with Magnamon's help, manage to seal herself, him and Ophanimon away.

Leading to a mix of the Gloaming, and Machine Precinct forces attacking, including several orbital satellites blasting Host bastions into rubble. Astamon would watch his generals annihilate the Host's remaining forces and Mega, before burning what's left of Alt City to the ground. Pit would get into a beam struggle with an orbital satellite, ala Asura's wrath, and through drawing on his sin actually manage to destroy it, at the cost of exhausting himself. He'd be chased down by a Gloaming Mega, and nearly killed before an unfamiliar spear hits it from behind. Heralding in Beat's return in an X variant of his Jewelbeemon form. Art by Demenos.

Followed by Verge dropping in to block the Mega's next attack, before Sparks comes in to whisk Pit and some remaining Host forces away to the Sunshine Archipelago.

Their reunion would be short lived, with Pit and Beat venturing off to find the region's code crown, while Verge and Sparks get dragged into a meeting with Leopardmon. As with The Blessed Host being mopped up, Bulwark needs all hands on deck to prepare for an all out war.

In the midst of this, Boy/Deimon, Xia, Yakka and Skire would set off to find Ogremon. Their team being sent off by Leopardmon into the server's underdark, away from the main fighting.

Astamon, not willing to wait for Bulwark to grow to full power, sends DinoKnightmon as a messenger. "Inviting" Verge to the execution of Luna and Andiramon. Luna's own letter would be brought along, telling Verge not to come rescue her. This event forces Leopardmon's hand. Both because of Verge/Thresh, and Cyberdramon Blue.

Resulting in Leopardmon having an *assemble The Royal Knights* scene, with Imperialdramon obtaining the omniforce and achieving Paladin Mode to serve as the leader. Between himself as Duftmon, Thresh as Gallantmon, Imperialdramon Paladin mode and his other forces, he'd be confident in winning a straight engagement. Yggdrasil has to step in, rendering most of the server into laggy low polygons in order to process all the Megas and powerful Ultimates present. Ardat stays behind, using the zone to powerlevel quickly so she can come in later.

They'd arrive at the Gloaming Zone's capital execution knowing it's a trap, but still be surprised to see forces from the Sefirot there, including AncientGreymon, who'd reveal he can tap into his transcendent evolution at the cost of his own life. He forces Imperialdramon up into space to fight without destroying the server, while Duftmon faces off against Piedemon and Thresh faces Neovamdemon.

Verge in a bid to save Luna would challenge Astamon to a duel, with the latter trying to say it's not yet time, then pausing and supposing it is. But he insists Sparks be included to make it fair as a two versus one.

Leading into the longest and biggest fight of the quest, where after a tough battle pulling out all the stops including Sparks' new spirit. Verge and Sparks jogress into Marsmon-

- forcing Astamon to draw upon Belphemon's power and go into an almost half evolved shadow state. After a final clash, Astamon is badly injured, and drained of most of his power, but is still tenacious enough to fight.

But Marsmon has been defused, Sparks isn't moving, and Verge is drained, but still manages to stand. He doesn't like it, but he uses one of Malkimon's potions to keep going, and tosses another to Sparks.

Despite the rejuvenation, he's still outmatched now that Astamon is going all out. Astamon shoots Sparks with a slug round, before kicking Verge in the chest with a Maverick.

"GrappLeomon Digivolve To!"

"Wisemon Digivovle To!"

Craniumon, and AncientWisemon.

To make matters worse, an Apollomon shows up, alongside a Grandiskuwagamon. Beat and Pit having slain a Gloaming Mega with the former loading it, while Pit took the code crown.

Astamon would have a moment of recognizing his old friend in Beat, momentarily snapping out of his wrothful state, and having an absolutely terrible moment where things have not gone as planned. Before being completely consumed by Belphemon, evolving, and lashing out at everything. His roar annihilates most of the nearby digimon below Mega (inlcuding the bulk of the Machine Precinct army) and he absorbs their data while fighting, strengthening him terrifyingly.

It's a four on one match against the rampaging Belphemon, where the zone is being demolished, but it's not not enough. Belphemon is demolishing population centers and absorbing their strength to heal and keep fighting.

It's only when Ardat steps in, and creates a corrosive wind barrier to hem Belphemon in, that they get a chance to pin him down. It's here that the crest of miracles around Pit's neck activates, and the four squad members jogress for a single, server shattering moment.

As Baihumon.

With a single attack they annihilate Belphemon, but in doing so the server breaks. The Zones crack apart on their borders as a last ditch defense mechanism, and Baihumon splits apart.

The Epilogue:

Verge would awake on a beach to the sound of metal crashing against metal as… clapping. And be met by a DarkKnightmon. Shuzen/Shujin, who'd been outside the server, and the break finally allowed him a path in. In a subversion of expectations, getting his revenge, and spending so much time alone had tempered his fury. And he greets Verge, saying he's proud of what his son has become.

The epilogue would've played out with Verge possessing the sunlight Archipelego's Code Crown, and striking out between Yggrasil's root portals to reunite with everyone. Tasked as The Great Tree's caretaker with reconnecting the server.

First finding Beat, along with Ardat and Luna who've taken over the ghastly zone, and what's left of the Gloaming. Then Pit as a Seraphimon shining with the light of miracles, who's in the zone where Alt City was. Where he's trying to save Ophanimon. Sparks and Thresh he'd find in another zone, where a Mad Tyrant Wizard, and his terrifying dragon have taken over the local city-state and killed anyone who resisted them. It turns out, the Gallantmon aura was making them hallucinate Megidramon, while Sparks was storing dissenting mon away in subspace stasis.

The remaining details are loose from there, but Boi and Xia would have dealt with the viral crystal infection, revealed to be Quartzmon.

But most importantly. Verge and the rest get a good ending.

Verge setting up a dojo in front of the server's new central hub, the Yggdrasil tree. With the hint of him having reached the stage of evolving into Baihumon on his lonesome, but more or less retired. Ardat and him having *hooked up* so to speak, with a *heavy Gabumon* courtesy of Tam Lin carrying on their dataline. Flamemon's reincarnation is one of his students, along with a Tinkermon (yes it's exactly who you think it is) and a very imperious Dracmon. With the occasional visit from Ciel, Malkimon and Shuzen who are tentatively reconnecting.

Sparks has fun playing a shadowy, mysterious figure. And is pretty busy between his various duties to Bulwark as *Grand Vizier* and *Prince Consort* with Madame Calamaramon. Their many descendants working to rebuild civilization across the zones. On occasion he visits Electown to meet up with Fu, Frigimon and Mayortyrannomon.

Beat settles down with Drop, as a househusband. A very scary househusband that visits Verge's dojo regularly to teach, and on occasion busts some heads between factions if a *problem solver* is needed.

Pit rebuilds the Host with a redeemed Ophanimon, and works with Noir, Cherubimon and Ardat to bring harmony between the rebuilt factions. Sistermon Noir loves working directly with her papa and "Sister". Sistermon Blanc however is not very happy about it at all.

Xia ahem *borrowed* the spirits of wind after reaching Mega. And went with Deimos to the Olympus server alongside Skire and Yaka. Where she's taken the spot as new Junomon due to her raw power and the wind spirits interacting with Olympus XII data.

Drunky survived! And works under Pit, entirely unhappy with how much paperwork she has now.

Luna is one of the Gloaming's rulers, alongside Ardat and Cherubimon. Her inherited connections with the Olympus XII server, leave her in a position to provide aid to the post apocalyptic server. Auger, serves under Luna, still collecting debts.

Warren and Scourge reconnected, and aside from fighting matches, visit Grip from time to time. Grip continues to work for Bulwark, and is happy with his life. Their mother Arachnemon was released from Malkimon's service once the witch reunited with Shuzen. Where she was picked up by Duftmon and put to work on the dimensional root connections between zones.

Thresh and Fonte serve under Duftmon leading troupes of peacekeepers from zone to zone, and fighting off any extradimensional invaders.
Ser Schwartz evolved to an armored Beelzemon, working under Duftmon.

Bewolfmon, either dead by Verge's hand or one of the Sefirot's leading figures

CB, evolved to Ulforce Veedramon. Serving Cherubimon amongst The Gloaming

If anyone has questions, feel free to field them. I'll try to answer all I can.

Goddamn, it's finally here! I can't say I'm not sad to see this quest go, it was and is one of my favorites of all time and well deserving of the devoted base it's pulled in throughout the years, myself included.

It's been here with me for many years, seen me through many life events, and inspired a decent amount of creativity on my end as well. I'm glad I got to be a part of it in any manner I could.

Thank you Drex, for all your hard work, and for sharing this story with us until the end.

Happy it was here, sad to see it go. At least we've got closure, though quick question @drexal15 it says that Pit's initial mega form is Apollomon? Is that right or is it supposed to be Seraphimon?

That's correct. Pit's evolution to Apollomon would've been through the code crown, and after losing it, he'd devolve, then hit Seraphimon shortly after. Although I was also considering it be ShadowSeraphimon instead.

Oh hell yeah, that kicks ass. And continues the trend of Verge looking like a stereotypical bad guy.

Did Verge ever name his dojo anything cool/specific or was it just "Verge's Dojo"?

I'm sorry you felt like you couldn't finish it, but I think we all really appreciate you being frank, and this wild outline of the final few arcs. Holy shit Astamon, I know you were trying to unite the world by being a villain to be despised but yikes.
