So has anyone came up with an idea for what Drexal meant by final showdown for this arc?

Taomon is going to turn on/try to assassinate us for being the monster that we are.
Astamon is going to show up again and duke it out with a hitherto completely unknown to all sides mega.
This server's digidestined will show up and their intro to the digital world will be seeing Verge fight fighting some giant feral. Verge will have no direct interaction with them or knowledge of them, and they won't show up again for several arcs.
All of the above at once.

Wisemon is all about that forbidden knowledge

>A Digimon completely shrouded in mystery, it can appear anywhere in time and space via the Book. Treating the Book as a spiritual vessel, it frequently alters its shape to appear anywhere within the spaces and times which the Book has connected, and it is said that its true form remains within a separate dimension. Among researchers it is rumored that it is in the same family as Piemon, and of the same Demon Man type. The Space-time Stones it holds in its hands are able to playback a record of a space, preserving every event or object of the Digital World within space and time. Its Special Moves are repeatedly preserving opponent's attacks within space and time and then performing a high-speed playback (Pandora Dialogue), and confining the opponent within the Space-time Stones for an eternity (Eternal Nirvana).

Which means the Gloaming Wisemon is some serious shit too

You really think the Host doesn't have massive amounts of forbidden knowledge ? The way I see it the gloaming would let it's soldiers use most of the information but keep the best to themselves whilst the Host would just say no one gets it.

The Gloaming are a bunch of competing lords they don't share resources with each other at all

Just enough to pay lip service to Astamon's demands

You know what you got me there, still tho I ain't gonna be surprised if we see messed up stuff in the Host. Think the lore from Gargomon ( a demon digimon given the power of light) but more forced into it via experiments.
Edit: Not sure if we have seen that digimon but we've seen one of their attacks.

The real question then is Sparks is valuable/diplomatic enough to gain entrance into the Sects covering reincarnation and memories. I'd be immensely surprised if the Host didn't have a sect researching it given their faith.

Could go either way, he's Sparks and also was an enemy general in his past life. He is also a friend to Pit as well as possible research materiel give what his past life did using him.

28th Of Fire: Duskmon Departing & Sparks Is... Himself.
[] Take this chance to ask Duskmon if he would be interested in a spar at a later date. Sure the mon feels like an evil abomination of hunger and darkness, but his actions so far differed from by far… well mostly.

===

With the matter of when to read Bulwark's message dealt with, you take a ponderous step forward and open your mouth to ask for the scroll. However Sparks gets there first, popping up in front of the Ultimate(?) and tapping his Book against the message.

*Pop*

It vanishes from existence just like the mechanical digimon from earlier.

"Thanks, I'll keep it nice and safe 'till we get to a good place for readin'."

"Could you please take that back out? I was kind of supposed to deliver the message to him."

"It is alright Ser Schwartz. I trust him."

"Oh! Then we're all good here."

If I cannot read the message presently, then mayhaps…

"Duskmon… or rather Ser Schwartz?"

"Hmm? Oh, did you want something? I've already handed over the scroll… oh! If you're hungry, sorry, I'm not sharing my food. It's mine and Leopardmon doesn't want another incident..."

Incident? No, focus Verge.

"That was not my intention. I only wish to ask if you'd be willing to spar with me at a later date."

"Sparring?" Duskmon leans his head back and crosses both arms to think. "I did hear that you were pretty strong and that's not wrong…" *Sir Schwartz* trails off for several more seconds before giving a minor shrug. "Sure thing, I'm always looking to test myself as a knight."

"Very well. For when should we make the arrangements?"

"Do not worry Bellator, I shall find you when the time is right."

When the time is right?... does he mean correct? I think he does… but time cannot be… oh. I believe he means later on when he has free time.

"I understand and look forward to when our paths cross hence." The messenger of Bulwark nods, then turns to give one last wave to Taomon before fading away into a blotch of darkness. The feeling of his apocalyptic darkness moving further away is quite relaxing. While he might have been nice to chat with, that aura had been… well in all likelihood your rookie-self would have fainted from experiencing it.

Hmm, I believe that exit confirms his ability to teleport. Fighting against that will be… most interesting.

"Hmph, he's an odd one." Rhinomon snorts as he moves one foot over to prod at the ground where Duskmon had been standing.

"Heh, 'Tis one way to put it."

He seemed fine to me?

"In Kami's name, I pray to never come into his company again." Taomon shudders before turning her attention on your friend. "Bellator Sparks, retrieve the message from your sub-space. It-"

"Yeah no. This here's personal stuff ya know? Not technically host business." Taomon begins to respond, but Sparks waggles a finger in her direction. "Nuh-uh-uh. Cherub HolyAngemon gave us express permission to handle this. If ya want to see it, take it up with him."

He did?

Your immediate superior's face twitches and for a moment she looks ready to dart forward and strangle the Wisemon where he stands. However the beast-womon manages to retain control of her faculties and settles for a simple glare.

"If that is what it takes, then *take it up with him* I shall."

"Heh, good luck with that."

=

Finding your group's encampment is not a particularly daunting task. Taomon seems to know the way through magical means, so it's literally a simple matter of running behind her in a straight line. Though… actually heading off has to wait until the Pidmon come flying back. Once again forced to carry the most exhausted mon on your back, but once again they don't particularly manage to slow you down.

Upon reaching the area's outskirts, your squad is immediately greeted by a familiar Insect digimon. Beat hovers close, throws you a quick nod… then snaps his attention to Sparks.

"Hiya prick! Guess who digivolved!" The Wisemon cackles, as he pulls back his hood to reveal a mocking smirk. His face is… surprisingly similar to the visage he possessed as a FlameWizardmon, with the only difference you can pick up being it seems… older? It's become a slight bit more angular in fashion, with more pronounced cheekbones and a firmer chin.

Going by the impenetrable darkness his hood had first displayed, you honestly half expected his head to have just turned into a shadowy void.

"Are ya ready to have yer butt kicked?!"

You're interrupted from musing as Sparks launches himself off your shoulder and pulls back his robotic arm for an incredibly telegraphed punch. Beat speeds up into a blur to meet him halfway, set to counter the attack… only to twist around and thrust up his knee at the last possible moment while thrusting both fists out to opposite sides.

Sparks teleports right into the attack's arc and is summarily folded over the armored Ultimate's knee.

"Argh! N-no friggen'… fair." Your friend groans, sliding off the silent mon's leg. "H-how'd ya know."

"You are a Wisemon now." Beat observes flatly. "I expected trickery and reacted accordingly."

"Y-yeah? Well… how about this?!" The Sorcerer, throws back his arm and teleports again-right into Beat's rising fist. You wince as a faint crack of the Wisemon's skull echoes out and his stiff body drops from the air.

… yep.

"And that too was in…" The blackened mon trails off as your friend hit the crater-covered ground, then silently watches as he begins tumbling back down the slope towards camp. "..."

Taomon does a double-take of the situation, looking between Sparks and Beat with a mixture of surprise, and satisfaction. Eventually she settled on the latter reaction and gives your insectoid friend a grateful nod.

Moving on from the uh… *encounter*, you hurry down towards Sparks' rolling form, but end up running into Iris and Gnaw, the latter of which has slung your friend's unconscious body over one shoulder. The WereGarurumon's eyes widen with joy upon seeing you, but swiftly revert to a soft glare as you both draw closer. Of course, before either of you can talk...

"Ooh! You're alive mister fluffy! See that Mister Grumpy! I told you they wouldn't get all crushed to smithereens." You can't help but shudder at her last sentence, even after so long that notion is still… a disturbing one.

"Of course he's alive. Tch, not like I ever said anything otherwise."

"But weren't you totally crying just-"

"I was laughing! Laughing! I was remembering killing that one Chieftain!" Gnaw hastily cuts her off, before offering up the Wisemon's limp form. "Now who's this dumbass? Pick up a recruit from the temple or something?"

"No… that is Sparks."

"Him? He digivolved and got a robot arm?" Gnaw mutters, looking the smaller mon over again. "Spirits, we weren't separated for that long, what happened?"

"That information is classifiiiiiied!" Taomon's voice echoes out as she slides past the two of you.

Ah, I suppose so given Sparks…. Past life.

One healing spell later Sparks floats over the wolf digimon's shoulder and shakes his head.

"Ergh, mine head aches. What did that prick do?"

"Uppercut." Said *Prick* notes. "Your attempt to change tactics was too obvious."

"Blech, course it was ya daemon-damned… whatever." Sparks turns around to point a finger at Gnaw. "Hey mutt!"

"..."

Really Sparks?

"Grrr." The canine in question raises a claw threateningly, but Sparks ignores it in favour of raising his arm.

"I bet a thousand bits that ya can't beat me in an armwrestle." The anger in your long lost ally's eyes turns to devious amusement as he raises his opposing arm.

"Bwahahah! You're on sorcerer, but no complaining after I snap that wimpy thing in two." You resist the urge to sigh as Sparks uses Magic Game to create a slanted table and instead move onto more important matters. Namely, getting the message that might be your only chance to save Lunamon and Thresh.

"You want that? Hrm, sure. Just gimme a second to…" Sparks lifts taps his book against the newly formed table's surface, causing Duskmon's message to… fall out of it? The whole mechanic of spatial pockets is mind-boggling.

At least Beat is more than kind enough to lift said scroll up and unfurl it for you to read.

You know, one usually assumes with time and growth ones learns wisdom and matures.

But with Sparks, it like all that does it make him more a jovial joker with every new day.

I love the mon, but at this rate is only a matter of time before he tries to make a cheese ray or something and try to steal all the pudding in a kingdom for the lols.

Rhinomon.

Don't is technically correct but doesn't would flow better in the sentence.

In armwrestling.

Sparks is like the opposite of Verge in progression.

While Verge gets more horrifying in his looks with age Sparks becomes more and more silly.

Also been watching if the Emperor had a Text to speech device... Verge as Dorn intensifies. He's even got the pain res, protection aspect (Seiges), and fist motif even if it is Claws in Verge's case.

Pretty much all he needs is a legion of Digimon spess Marines... wait would that make Pit a not as terrible version of the Emperah or would someone else take the role?

Hehe. I will admit Rogal Dorn did give me some inspiration on how to handle verge's peculiarities, especially as a champion.

Just replace magical pain glove with magical pain scar

Thinking on it Verge learning how to track dark mon via his experiences with something so deep for so long is easy to imagine

I have to say yet again how much I love our little group's dynamics.
We're not even at our full potential for shenanigans and it's still this enjoyably. Really wish Pit and Ardat can get in on our adventures again soon.

You say this as a joke but at one point I would like Verg to lead like a army of his own or at least a small squad.

28th Of Fire: *The Report*
Bulwark's report on your family proves to be almost exactly what you were hoping for. It lists a plethora of information on your kidnapped friends and family… though none of it is good. It turns out not even Auger was spared being conscripted into Count's forces, albeit in the way you expected.

The Armadillomon you adventured with so many months ago has evolved into a Digmon and while he's only noted to possess more than *above-average* combat power, your former friend has climbed surprisingly high in the Gloaming ranks. Not as a true fighter mind you, instead he's a *logistics officer* and been assigned to not only lead the Vamdemon's new mining forces, but also handle his finances. Indeed, according to the reports he's been crucial in improving the Lord's economic standing and has since developed mild infamy for penny-pinching and running an extremely strict *accounting record*.

You're not sure what a lot of those words mean, but it sounds like he's been pressed into an awful, if fitting job. From what you remember he was very serious about bits…

Oh spirits! And I still owe him for lending me bits to purchase Lunamon's tiara… It will be fine Verge. I doubt he would keep track of that debt through all this time…

As a shiver rolls down your spine, you move onto the other *lesser* section of the report. Namely, this one has to do with your estranged wards… or at least the surviving one. Both of them had evolved to Dokugumon under Count's watch and been assigned as guards for his mansion due to their ability to spin webs. Unfortunately, eighty-three days ago one was caught in the crossfire during an assault from the local ferals. The report doesn't mention which brother it was but… that only makes it weigh all the more heavy on your core.

He died because you weren't there to save him...

Moving onto something even more depressing is the section about your *little brother*.

Thresh is flat out stated to be the second most deadly digimon under Count's control, second only to Repulsa... for now. As judging by his status as a fresh Ultimate he could very well end being even more powerful than her. Furthermore his combat record is considered absurd by the writer, though not by disbelief. There are clear records of him deleting hundreds of Host soldiers with a confirmed count of him slaying twenty-eight lower-ranked officers. When he's next fielded that number is expected to skyrocket unless he's promptly dealt with. His new form is stated to be a black variant of WarGrowlmon, though it only differs from his *kin* in color and power as he's yet to display any unusual abilities.

Reading about your brother's grim exploits is horrifying… but also not unexpected. When you'd last fought him victory had been far from certain and he'd only grown stronger since. Oddly enough however, the report mentions nothing about that odd state he'd taken against you. His very aura had become corrosive with a stronger variant manifesting on his claws.

Hmm. Mayhaps he has yet to use it since?... or did they simply not catch it?

The last and most heart-breaking of all is the brief report on Lunamon or… *Lady Crescemon* as her article is titled. Much like Thresh she's been on a killing spree, though unlike him she's managed to take down a Throne by herself. And what's more, Count has been grooming her into becoming another Gloaming Lord.

And that's the end of it, that's all the information they could get about her. There's no trivia, no details about her abilities, just a pair of paragraphs listing her kill record and social standing.

Lunamon. I… I failed you. No. Verge! You can still… you can still rescue her. Bring her and Thresh to the host then maybe… then Count's brainwashing can be removed. And then… and then your family will be back.

Despite those thoughts, your core continues its deep descent, draining you of energy as a sense of failure and worthlessness wells up.

But it doesn't last long.

Your lowering eyes catch sight of Count and Repulsa's reports, turning the sadness into rage as you read their profiles. Theft, slaughter, torture and oh so much more. They're responsible for your friends and family becoming like this. Them.

A burning will flows out of your core, Wrath and Desire both urging you to stand back up and get strong enough to end those foul creatures. To Rip And Tear them apart for what they've done.

You skim over the last details of the Hazard Coast mansion, barely noting the defenses and *powerful* digimon guarding it.

Then at the very end is a message and date.

Eight days. On the thirty-sixth of fire Count, Luna and Thresh will be traveling south a with a light guard to reinforce another Lord. Indeed, it lists a set of exact coordinates for where they'll be halting their journey to rest.

That will be your time to strike.

All thoughts of the power gap between you and the Vamdemon vanish. All that matters is digging your claws into his chest and ripping out his still pulsing core. Tearing his smirking face off his shoulders and shoving it into the-

Your violent fantasy is interrupted as Gnaw lets out a howl of pain. With a snarl you turn about, expecting some sort of attack. However instead you're ,et with the sight of Gnaw's limp arm crashing down through the table and down to the slope.

"Hehe, what was that again? Double or nothin'?"

"Grr…" The dark WereGarurumon snarls, sitting up to point at the Wisemon with his good arm. "You cheated!"

"Cheated? Hehehe, and how would I have done that? Aren't I a *wimpy wizard*?"

"Sorry mister grumpy, but I didn't see him do anything." Iris adds sadly. "I think he's just stronger than you."

… Sparks does posses a strength enhancement spell…
