Secondly, Mega stat requirements are absurd. Like, beyond most digimons hardcaps. They have to essentially load massive amounts of data at one shot to hit the target from their hardcap(most likely this is from loading a capped Ultimate who's on track to Mega themselves) with the associated risks of outright exploding...OR, they are those digimon with immense difficulty evolving at Rookie and Champion levels, thus expanding their Talent when they do evolve, in exchange for a long period of vulnerability and visibility
This is probably where Verge and Pit fall in comparison to say Ardat who has had pretty blatant Scion stuff going on for her for a while or say Sparks and Beat who evolve much sooner but have lower caps for their respective tier.

Also now I can't help but wonder if we can get a list of our party members from oldest to youngest.

As for titles, not exactly. Demon Lords enjoy a nice boost because of their sin, but that doesn't lock other mon from hitting that same species. It would just lower the power of the original and the newbie when the latter hits Mega. There's a highlander "there can only be one" dynamic there as Demon Lords despise sharing power.
I've been meaning to ask.... what about the Great Angels, they aren't attached to a specific sin line the demons and weather or not they follow Yiggy is unconfirmed.

Or would that be one the advantages they have as a group that we just don't get to see most of the time?

Also now I can't help but wonder if we can get a list of our party members from oldest to youngest.
  1. Drunky (Roughly a year and a half old)
  2. HippoGriffomon (Just over a year old)
  3. Verge (whom is at this point... 155 days old. )
  4. Sparks/Beat/Pit (all hatched within the same single week period. So roughly 136 days old at this point.)

The three great angels have their own crutches, well in this variation of the digital world anyway. The OG ones here from the host were explicitly powered up by *God* to do their thing.

I won't spoil exactly *what* those are right now. But I can say one *crutch* will be plot relevant later on.

You know, looking at these stat comparisons really puts into perspective just how much of a monster Beat has become through hard work.

As a fresh Ultimate his stat total is 87.5% that of a softcapped upper mid tier normal Ultimate.

And given how high his Talents surely are by now (would be really curious to see those), I doubt it will take him much time at all to surpass Okuwamon.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if his Agility gains its fifth digit within the next month.

His new Talents are:

Which for him translates out to:

Gains per 2 days:
60
66
54
74

Yeah, but we're already an outright monstrous Champion.

I expected him to have significantly better Talents than us overall, but the sheer size of the difference is a bit of a surprise.
By the end there Beat was quite a monstrous champion himself.

Okuwamon fought him while slid down to champion and was actively losing. Beat champion form was superior to that of a veteran ultimate.

If Beat learns to slide digivolve his champion form would be able to give Verge a decent fight.

I don't really see the point for him learning to slide though. Jewelbeemon is basically a Stingmon with better arms and armor, there's nothing Stingmon can do that it can't.

well, to allow him a little anonymity for one, and two, to be able to spar with Verge and help him get stronger as well.

Mhm. Which was why I said "If" and not "when". Though admittedly I should have added a "theoretically" onto it to prevent this kind of misunderstanding.

As a fun aside I've decided to do some calcs on what Verge would get if he evolved right now nothing but the average of X3.

Strength: 3712.00X3=11,113
Fortitude: 3054.75X3=9,164.25
Endurance: 2921.25X3= 8,763.75
Agility: 2662.25X3=7,986.75
Special: 3040.25X3=9,120.75
Spirit: 2543.50X3= 7,630.5

And since strength is his bread an butter I've done the calc for if he manages to get another x4 in it.

Yeah, in light of the fact that Verge is not near his caps yet and would still have stats higher than both a Veteren Ultimate (Okuwamon) and another the Ultimate evolution of another monster of a champion it's not wonder that the first conclusion was that Verge was mean't to be a weapon or the prototype of one. Still it makes me wonder if Verge is a super prototype or just a normal one, and that the finished project is at least as dangerous.

... I can see why the Host is worried.

Yeah, Jewelbeemon are super attention grabbing. Plus the body configuration is similar enough that Sliding should be relatively easy.

Mostly because part of the whole thing was that Beat had a lot of trouble simply because he was a Stingmon who kept fighting stuff he couldn't penetrate. He had the opposite problem of Pit. Pit gets KO'ed every time someone looks at him wrong, Beat usually does an attack which doesn't really hurt the opponent.
Repeatedly.

Nothing to do with his stats so much that his natural weapons weren't up to it, he didn't use an external weapon which could, and he had no head for spells either.
Beat is one of those guys who'd REALLY have used a Flame Weapon Shroud well.

I'd imagine the answer is prototype of a weapon, which made them realize that its an impractical weapon.

We only know that mass production is impractical, and given Verge's memories it's likley at least one 'later' generation existed assuming Verge is the prototype.
Given how many flaws the prototype generation had, I'm willing to bet that the next generation was an attempt at not quite as strong but not nearly as impractical (higher odds of getting born at all, more reasonable trip from Rookie to Champion, etc).

But I'm also guessing that reducing the power enough to make it stable made it not worth the effort, leading to the cancelation of the project.

27th Of Wind: Meteors & Returning To Bulwark's Fort (Baromon Sub-Arc)
[] With the Stealth Squad defeated the danger should be past. Inform Galgomon and Wendimon of what transpired and ask if the latter knew anything about the attacks.

===

"A well fought battle Beat. It is most fortunate that you reached the realm of Ultimate."

"It was…" The JewelBeemon trails off, looking at his new spear. "But I lack training for this."

"A flaw that will be corrected." You assure him, with a nod. "The path ahead of you may have grown broader. But of us all you posses the most diligence in matters martial."

"... thank you." The Ultimate murmurs, taking his weapon up in both hands. "I will start now."

With the battle having reached its end, Beat loads the unconscious forms of Pit and Sparks onto your back then goes about testing the limits of his new form. His fight against Okuwamon had showcased a vast increase of his strength, speed and durability, but had ultimately been constricted by having to dedicate himself keeping the rest of you from being deleted. Now he's free to move about entirely unhindered.

The evolution to JewelBeemon has put him in a place you can't challenge, reversing the disparity in power for a third time. Not that you mind, far from it in fact. It's good that he's risen to new heights as it makes the whole of your squad stronger. Plus, his new hitting power shall allow your body to be further tempered in the days to come. It will hurt, but you look forward to the training nonetheless.

Since Beat really isn't interested in making a decision over what the squad does next, you suggest returning to town for rest, succour and to see how Ogremon has fared in your absence. The former Stingmon makes no objections to the decision, merely following along as you pad back out of the ancient jungle. It's not hard to find the trail out, your presence coming in made a very noticeable path.

Due to his pushing Gramps's *Boost* spell to its limit Sparks is currently comatose… either that or he just can't move or speak. And you have a feeling that won't be changing anytime soon. You're curious how long his internal energy will be affected, but that will have to wait until he does return to consciousness

Pit on the other paw rouses himself a mere twenty-two minutes and fourty-one seconds later, flying off your back with a shout.

"Foul assassin we!-" The Pidmon cuts himself off and starts looking around furiously. "-where's Okuwamon?!"

"Deleted."

"You… defeated him without me?" Pit questions sounding a little bit offended at being left out.

"Aye, that is correct. Beat landed the finishing blow."

"That is… wonderful news friends! This day, uh." he pauses as if only now noticing the lack of sunlight. "This night, a powerful and vile member of the accursed Gloaming has fallen to our teamwork!"

"He was strong." You agree as the two-winged champion settles back down. "But there are members that bear far more power. We must continue improving."

"Ah, well said my stalwart comrade!" With that your passenger directs his attention to Beat and flashes him a grin. "Congratulations on digivolving Beat! It will be a great service to our holy work. I also must thank you for your words! I am truly honoured by your loyalty and...:" The angel pauses for a moment to visibly curb his enthusiasm. "I swear on the Lord most high not to betray your trust or loyalty."

"... thanks."

Just as your squad begins to edge closer to BaroTown, three lights begin to appear streaking across the night sky. Different from the stars or moons, these shining projectiles progressively get larger with time almost as if they're falling towards the world. For the first few seconds you nearly dismiss that thought, but their steady increase in size can only mean one thing. They're going to crash down and relatively soon at that. But… at least they're not falling anywhere close to your squad.

The meteors, strike down several kilometers away, but their impact shakes the very ground itself nearly making you stumble as the earth beneath your paws heaves. Fortunately the tremors don't last very long, but other effects are noticeable. Such as the mountainous dust cloud rising in the distance.

"Holy crud! What just happened?!"

"Hn…"

Spirits above! Was… that the attack of a Mega? No. It was:

Meteor Dance. The Strongest attack available to the Baromon species.

I see. Mayhaps is fortunate that we decided to refuse Karatenmon's orders.

You quickly relay that information to Pit and Beat, who relax somewhat at the knowledge that the attack came from an *allied* digimon.

It takes a minute for you to properly judge the position of where the attack fell balancing its impact zone with the locations of Ogremon's (newly destroyed) safehouse, BaroTown and your current position. However In the end you figure out that they must have fallen relatively close to the *hidden* civilization.

That guess is only proven true when you enter town and find that an entire side of the town's wooden wall has been knocked down. Facing towards BaroTown's center mind you.

Ogremon and a group of several dozen champions he must have roped into helping have already returned (including that pastry chef!) but most of them look wounded to some capacity. Despite their clear wounds the townsmon seem to be in good morale breaking free food, bottles and entire casks of that stuff Angewomon likes to drink. Beyond grabbing one barrel and a basket of food the caretaker doesn't seem inclined to take part in the festivities, he just gives your squad a surprised look, nods with approval then heads to his home.

Your angelic superior wastes no time using his healing powers to fix up the wounded townsmon, which gets him a surprisingly warm exception. Naturally you consider doing the same, but a lack of energy prevents it. After the Gale Claw and spell-use you don't have anything left.

When he returns Pit brings back news of what happened in your squad's absence. According to the natives Ogremon tracked down the approaching force, then digivolved to some sort of *eggish* form and attacked the Valvemon by himself, leaving the others free to strike while occupants exited their vehicle. The enemy's *leader* used a mixture of chains and fire to strike at *Ogremon* but wasn't able to managebly hurt him. It all came to an end when *falling stars* came to their aid, destroying Valvemon the other Ultimate and most of the remaining Gloaming forces.

You're a bit sad to not have been able to witness it all firsthand, but the safety of Sparks and Pit mattered more. Besides, from the sound of things BaroTown's forces really didn't take that many casualties. Which is good, you despise pointless deletion.

Upon reaching Bulwark's fort, the garrison is unsurprisingly buzzing about on full alert. At first the Commandramon and Sealdramon on guard go so far as to bar you entrance, but Galgomon orders them to let you through.

"Woah, woah. The Stingmon digivolved? That's totally awesome dudes. You're like a JewelBeemon now... right?"

"Yes."

"Woah, that's gonna make the next hunts real easier… and oh yeah. Cyberdramon wanted a report on the whole explosion thingy. Watcha know about that stuff? Anythin' I can tell'im?

Should we inform him of what happened? We know little of the pact so mayhaps it would be better to-

"It was Baromon who did it sir."
Pit explains, throwing a salute the older mons way. "We received uh… intelligence that the Gloaming was planning to strike and capture him and shared it with the local caretaker. Ogremon. He attacked the Valvemon ferrying the Ac-... the Gloaming with some others and Baromon must have used his powers to… see it and aim his… meteors? That's what they were called right friend Verge?"

"... correct."

"Now that explains a whole buncha stuff. But, how'd ya get to know that?"

"We were told by Agent Karatenmon, she wanted us to kidnap Baromon before the Gloaming could!"
The Wizardmon variant on your back groans at that and you feel like joining him. You can practically feel Sparks's exasperation radiating off your back.

We did not need to tell him most of this! He… is not even part of the Host. We should be using discretion.

"But we turned her down of course! It wasn't right sir, so instead we went after the Gloaming assassins that were here and attacked us before."

"... huh? Gloaming assassins?"

"Yes sir! Four of them!"

"Five." You correct him.

"Really comrade Verge? But we only fought… Bastemon, WereGarurumon, LadyDevimon and Stingmon who was also Okuwamon. Hyuk, hyuk. Those last two were the same digimon Verge." The urge to crush Pit steadily rises in your core, he has the gall to say you miscounted. Instead of deleting the mouthy angel you glare at him and growl softly.

"There was also a Datamon."

"Oh.... uh, sorry."

"Ya fought and deleted members of the Gloaming? By the great tree's roots… stupid stupid… who attacked first?"

"Oh umm… they did! They ambushed us earlier today. But, most of them said they were mercenaries?"

"Woot, woot! That makes this a whole'lot easier. Plausible deniability and stuff. They won't wanna bring this up so neither should ya. Pact is still safe and stuff."

"I see. That is fortunate."

"Yep, yep. For a moment I thought I'd have'ta kill ya. Woulda been a real shame."

"K-kill us?!"
Pit flinches back, mouth widening in horror.

"You would fail." Beat snaps, tightening the grip on his spear, but Galgomon just shrugs again.

"Mhm, maybe, but the pact has rules, we gotta delete anymon who intentionally breaks'it." Galgomon answers before shrugging. "Nothin' personal, but the guy up top got both groups ta agree… though I'm pretty sure Cyberdramon would clear ya since they attacked first. "Meh, don't really matter now, ya'll are clear and can go sleep if ya want."

"That's good news friends!"

"It is, but one moment." You state, raising a paw to halt the hunter from leaving. "Do you know the whereabouts of lieutenant Wendimon?:

"Hmm? Oh, yeah, yeah. He's… right over there..." He points one hand behind you.

"Salutations, Verge, Sergeant Pit and… oh my. That coloring, you must be Beat. A fantastical result of the black Digitron bonding to your core data, I must investigate!"

"Hn… It is part of our deal"

Gah! How long was he listening?

"I take that particular comment means you wished to seek my presence? May I ask what for my good mon?"

You rear up and pivot around to stare the massive champion straight in the eye. He doesn't really seem to care and just stays slightly hunched over as if he isn't at all threatened.

"Wendimon. Did you know of the assassins? Of the attack?"

"You must mean the force of that stopped me and Rinkmon. A polite chap, or I suppose he was. They wished to check my credentials and asked for assistance in a certain task. One you should rather be very glad I turned down. Unfortunately good Bellator, I cannot speak of it further. Policy and all."

"You knew and didn't tell us?!"
Pit exclaims.

"Why, yes of course. Despite the current pact, you are my enemues fter all. I could not risk my position over tenuous allies even such hopeful ones. You understand."

"Aye."

"I guess..." Pit mumbles, slumping down in defeat.

"If it makes you feel any better Sergeant, Rinkmon wished to inform you. It was only my orders that kept her silent on the matter."

Her?... really?! She doesn't like any of us. Why would… Focus.

"Oh that's good... C'mon, let's… go."
Pit sighs dejectedly turning his back on the gigantic beast digimon. "We should rest for tomorrow."

"That would do us well."

Today was… certainly busy. A dreamless sleep will be welcome.

===Authors Note: Okay this is like the first two thirds of the update/ I have to take a break now, but I'll have the rest out in... a couple hours I think.

Verge enjoys being hit hard.
It says a fair bit about why our squad is so stupidly durable.
Digimon grow when damaged below crippling, and Verge/Beat have been the squad punching bags to train THEIR attacks.

One perk of Pit getting KO'ed immediately all the time is that he always has MP left to heal with afterwards since he never lasts long enough to spend it all. :V

The Digitamamon guessers were right!
Also from the sound of it, they did a close-in bombardment, counting on Digitamamon being too durable to mind?

Good thing we didn't seek them out.
Also good thing we built SOME friendship.

Maybe some day both of us would bugger off from the Host and Gloaming to set up our own side.
With cake.
"If it makes you feel any better Sergeant, Rinkmon wished to inform you. It was only my orders that kept her silent on the matter."
Nice girl there.
If a little foolish, I think the Gloaming would have punished her hard if not outright deleted her.

27th-28th Of Wind: Departure, *Baromon* & Ominous Prophecies
By the time morning arrives Sparks still isn't in any position to move even with the help of Pit's healing. And while he can speak, it's slurred and almost unintelligible. So he's once again relegated to resting on your back during the journey. Weddingmon joins him wanting to: "Nurse my peu sorcier back to good health." You're leery of having a womon on your back, but make the sacrifice to speed Sparks's recovery. Despite his inability to talk, you can feel his approval.

Galgomon for his part is glad to leave, if only since it allows him to start the next series of hunts. Mikemon shares his enthusiasm, though directed towards the unsavoury subject of cooking and butchery. You can certainly see why they're partners.

Rinkmon and Wendimon join your party on the way out, though this time the speedy womon keeps her distance. Having her and Pit not butt heads together is an odd sight indeed, as both her and the angel seem to be... sadder than usual. The Sergeant was hit pretty hard by Wendimon's words the previous night and you guess he got drawn in by the champion's complex words and sweeping promises. He didn't expect to be lied to, even if it was only one of omission. Wendimon on the other paw is as cheery as ever and does his best to sidle up to Beat, constantly asking questions about his body.

Before the group can make it through BaroTown's front gate, a familiar voice calls out for your squad.

"Hey choir boys hold on! Baromon wants to talk." Ogremon shouts, waving his club around in a bid to get attention.

"He wishes to speak with your squad. Interesting. By all accounts, don't let me stop you. Go on and mingle." You do your best to avoid the Gloaming officer and instead focus on the figure striding beside Ogremon.

He's... not as impressive as you expected. Baromon, headress (or maybe hair you're not sure) included is only as tall as Sparks, though slightly stockier. And what's more he doesn't exactly have an aura of overwhelming power. You can tell that he's strong for a champion sure, but he doesn't seem any more powerful than Sparks. Which is disappointing, and more than a little confusing considering the destruction he managed to conjure a mere night before. Even a more thorough examination as he shuffles forward doesn't bring anything new to light. He's a three eyed wizard digimon with the clothing to match... though you're pretty sure La-Ardat would say the orange cloak and golden crown would be "cool".

"Alright, listen up. He doesn't come out often so be respectful. I'm looking at you Wizard."

"Urgh."

"Feh, good."

"I wanted to say thank you." Baromon states softly, before bowing so low his head nearly hits the ground. "If you didn't provide a warning they would have deleted my acolytes. My followers and I aren't any good in a fight. We like reading books and searching for information."

"You're... welcome?"

"Of course! We the Host's brave soldiers could not do any less oh ancient Baromon!" Pit responds, genuinely happy to be thanked.

"Yes and umm, about that... I'm sorry."

Sorry?

"There is no need to be sorry! We could not do-wait. I said that already uh..." The angel looks around wildly for assistance, but you shrug, not really knowing how to finish his sentence.

"Guhawhawhaw. Could not stand by while the villainous foe did their evil deeds?" Wendimon suggests, earning him a glare from his subordinate.

"I... that would work..."

"But I do you see... I have to join Astamon." Baromon mumbles, causing every digimon listening to freeze.

What?! Siding with the Gloaming, after what they just attempted?

"He won't stop trying to get me now that his monitoring squad is defeated. But If-if I go to him of my own free will he'll stop. I could even get him to place Barotown under his official protection."

Surprisingly it's not Pit, whom starts shouting. No he's too busy being horrified and dumbstruck.

"Necro Eclipse you moron!" Ogremon snaps, glaring at his former caretaker. "Astamon will just hold this place over your head anytime he wants information! That old tricky bastard already had a group here ready to spirits-be-damned kidnap you, don't think that it'll get any better if you go to him on your knees!"

"But... I can't do anything else to protect this place."

"I know!" Pit exclaims, rushing over to stand in front of the nervous wizard-digimon. "You can seek protection from the host! I- *Ahem* I, Sergeant Pit officially extend an invitation for BaroTown and its inhabitants to join The Blessed Host. You have my personal Oath on the matter Ancient One."

"The personal promise of a sergeant? I'm sorry but, I don't know if that will guarantee anything..." The old man trails off, then suddenly straightens up, his golden eyes flickering with sudden light. "Come here and give me your hand." And suddenly the elder digimon feels A lot more threatening.

"My hand? Wh-"

"Do it!"

"Yes sir!" Pit yelps, thrusting his hand out fast enough that it nearly hits the Wizard. Baromon's gloved hands wrap around his palm in a flash of motion, pressing so hard that the angel winces in pain. All of a sudden the flickering light in Baromon's eyes explode outward, covering your friend in shining light. The ancient digimon's body goes utterly still, but his mouth still moves, screaming out loud enough to hurt your ears.

"A light that has fallen! Grown, cut and reborn! Risen from the pit on divine wrath!"

"A descendant weeps under the fury of four! One sacrifice harkening the gate to herald priest sinful!"

Spirits wha-

And then the vice-like grip on Pit's hand releases and Baromon falls to a knee.

"Lord In Heaven what did you do!" Pit shrieks, skipping back from the kneeling wizard.

"I saw past, future. I know what your word is worth now." Baromon murmurs, using Ogremon's offered hand to climb back to his feet. "I accept."

"Really?"

"He does?"

"Feh, this is almost as bad." Ogremon grumbles, but he doesn't argue against the wizard's decision.

"H-heh."

A prophecy. Interesting. It is good that he agreed to Pit's terms but...

"May I... gain a prophecy as well? I would like to hear of my future path."

"Learn your place!" Ogremon snaps, this time at you. "These visions are taxing and strain his body. Forcing another so soon could hurt him!"

"It is fine. They assisted us greatly child. I am happy to assist in satisfying his curiosity. But be warned, there is no guarantee of what I will see."

"Rgh, alright."

"I understand."

"Give me your hand." You nod slowly and gingerly reach out a paw. He takes it just as quickly as he did Pit's despite the large claws and golden spikes on your war-gauntlet. A moment later, his eyes flare to life and he begins to speak.

"Scion of Magic and Metal! Abomination before the world! A body crushed and soul bargained!"

"Successor to the failed shield! Champion of corrupted Desire. Half of war yet joined in structure and purpose!"

The lights in his eyes fades away as does the grip on your war-gauntlet.

I guess that's i-

And suddenly the pressure on your gauntlet redoubles, actually denting the metal with its sheer strength. Strength that Baromon's frame should not possibly be able to posses.

"The Slayer lives! He returns to find that which is his!"

Then all three eyes roll around to the back of his head and he collapses, utterly motionless.

Huh. That did not sound good.

This feels... not as annoying to deal with compared to a speedy cat with natural weapons on both ends. After Sandiramon, overwhelming brute strength almost seems easier. I doubt that's the case but a guy can dream.

Well, its obvious he knows who Pit really is now.
Galgomon for his part if glad to leave,
is
Which is disappointing, and more than a little confusion considering the destruction he managed to conjure a mere night before.
confusing
Even a more thorough examination he shuffles forward doesn't bring anything new, to light.

Well, that's obviously a Vikaralamon. HUGE magic casting boar.
