As a note, it's a really good thing that Verge has managed to get with the whole "blocking using drills" program. It is going to be extremly useful in the upcoming battles ahead. Hehe, there's a character I've been planning on introducing properly for a while, hopefully he'll be a fun one!
Using flaming drills to block no less, that's going to be a hell of a deterrent. As for the character... I feel a chill going up my spine.

The next mission for Verge and Co should be a fairly interesting one, heh. Could allow for some unfinished business to be concluded.
I'm thinking either we find Gnaw, or we deal with Strabimon. I'm hopingGnaw, because if we can recruit him to the Host side, or at least bring him around, we may be able to add him to the squad. Given the other problem children, Scratch shouldn't have too much issue taking in one more, right?

I'll also finally be able to introduce one of the big elements of the setting that Verge hasn't able to see much of yet.
Ominous...

Must not be that rare if Sorcerymon was willing to sell us one for so little back in the village.
Sorcerymon had one and it was the rookie version. 10 thousand bits also really isn't cheap

The lowest ranking of the host get paid 300 bits per day. Which means they'd have to do missions for nearly 5 weeks in order to buy one. For most digimon that's enough time to reach champion.

Edit: For what it does, even the lowest ranked healing disk is expensive.

Honestly a bit surprised that a Rookie version would work on Flamemon at that point. Judging by the other legendary warrior we've met, he was probably almost as strong back then as we are now.

It worked for a couple reasons.

  1. He didn't actually have that much mass
  2. He'd already had a bit of time to heal on his own so he wasn't exactly in critical condition
But yeah, at that time he was still pretty strong.

Can I just say, with how expensive healing items are I'm really glad we picked up healing magic.
Agreed, it's a skill that's going to be useful all down our run I think. Especially if we do take up some kind of caretaker position, being able to fight like a badass is great, but being able to heal our charges is better.

So, does anyone have any speculation on what loose ends we've got that don't directly involve Count and Repulsa that may be tied up soon? Or guesses as to what aspect of the world Verge is going to be exposed to now?

That's a very good point, we never found out why Gramps was an advocate of the Ten when so many of "his" kids seemed to end up working for the Host, at least so far as we've seen anyway.

You know, it might just be a matter of opportunity. I haven't done a reread recently, so I might be remembering some things wrong, but the Ten are dead and have been for a while. Yes, they might have done amazing things, but they've faded into obscurity in the sense that they really just don't come up in casual conversation all that often.

On the other hand, the Host are actively recruiting against a threat that has ruined quite a few lives. Given that Gramps seems to have tried his best to give his charges a good upbringing and relatively firm sense of morality, it's not that much of a stretch to think that they'd sign up with the Host and try and help out the people in front of them rather than join some obscure group dedicated to the Ten that couldn't do as much.

Good point. We know that there's temples to the Ten that house their spirits (or at least are supposed to) but we don't know how active they actually are in the setting, nor how much influence they're able to bring to bear. They may have some missionary types and may protect the areas close to the temples, but they may not have much in the way of power projection, because so much of their fighting capability is tied up in guarding the Spirits. Drex has said before that the temples are guarded by high-tier Ultimates and even some low-tier Megas. So they may not have a dog in the conflict between the Gloaming and the Host and just work to protect their own holdings. They may also think that the conflict is one that shouldn't even be happening, because the Ten represented a balance of Light and Dark against the other eight elements without interjecting Good or Evil into either. They acknowledge that "Light" does not always mean "Good" and nor does "Dark" always mean "Evil", something that the Gloaming and the Host seem to have rejected as a philosophy.

I can agree with most of that, but I think there's a good chance that the balance philosophy might not be quite that clear-cut. The Ten's group wouldn't necessarily need to see it as "Good vs Evil" or "Light vs Dark". There are degrees, like "Hey, you guys are killing a lot of people. Could you... not do that?"

So sorry if this was asked and I missed it and also this is probably too late at this point, but is it possible to train spirit or special at all?

Verge is automatically training either special or spirit when doing his spells.
Why Gramps wasn't a fan of the Host?
Something to remember is that Gramos didn't start off as a caretaker. In his youth he was a soldier, that coloured his perspective on the conflict quite a bit.

Vote is now closed. Thank you everyone for the 13 votes:) I expected like 8 max because of the plan format so this was pleasantly surprising.

Update may take until tomorrow because the scope, but we'll have to see how the planning goes.

Well, the Ten sounds like the Neutral path, except since the Dark is currently in the lead and fucking things up for everyone, the Neutrals fight the Dark too, while the Light doesn't really bother anyone except the Dark when theres Dark around.

The thing is following the Light isn't really a happy path. The battle never ends for them. Unsurprising then that he'd prefer the kids grow up to actually have a life beyond fighting the eternal war?
