Black to White 8
You are tired beyond any other moment of your existence, running out of pure discipline and desire for knowledge to not be caught by surprise again, your comrade Sparks notices your injuries but keeps silent waiting for a private moment, the separation from your lady was just overshadowed by being called a walking error in the system by MagnaAngemon even if she took it well was basically an insult as your existence as her knight so spite also became a good manner of support yourself in this difficult search through the city.
A Knight doesn't fall, a Knight needs to continue fighting on his feet.
As it turns out, finding somemon selling magical tomes is actually a rather simple task. You manage to find a Wizardmon peddling grimoires from a mobile stall on the market's outskirts. Judging by said cart's nearly full stock and the vast quantity of dust over most of the product, he doesn't seem to be getting much patronage, but in a city of angels that's not really surprising. It certainly doesn't help that the gaunt magic user's clothing is ruffled, and he smells like he hasn't washed in weeks.
You acquired his whole collection, you had saved a quite good amount of bits as your spences while tighter than a regular Champion were in fact still frugal in nature, so with more than twenty thousands bits in your possession, you managed to obtain a treasure of knowledge that you would share with Sparks. Having a copy of Beginner Guide to Air Sorcery may also motivate your lady into abandoning her effort in convincing you to train Slide Evolution and focus on the mutual interest of coding arrays.
The Wizardmon probably would worship the ground that you walked on if you after this act of mercy.
Nonetheless, you needed all the arrays low, medium, and high as any sort of knowledge about High Programming in search for a solution to the problems as preparation was also the first half of the battle. Working your way from the minor challenges to the highest possible branches would turn beneficial, in the arts of the blade you lacked basics as Wolfmon like his footwork but your acts in improving yourself in refining something as basic as moving turned into a massive increase of speed when correctly application of your might.
The path to power was every little block, step further and then return to the place that you began.
It's deep within the central district, where several Ultimate digimon are perusing higher tier stores that you finally spot a place selling digimentals. The building is a rather tall and wide, auspicious place, built to scale for larger digimon like some lizard with feathers and well maintained. Judging by the smell, the place seems to have been painted recently.
Finally, the search was over and soon you could convince Pid to test his healing in you... to get a feeling of what you should do. Obviously.
Magnamon's Digimental Emporium.
A name that you feel that you will have to remember if you ever wished to power up your wards even more, insect-type digimon really took use of these items a lot more than other digimons. The two cyborg digimon keep this show protected from thieves, you can appreciate such preparation even if you had to discard a few plans, the duo of Andromon keeps an eye on you as the biggest danger to the shop, truly professional so it would be impossible to take one of them through the use of deception.
Power was something that you could feel from the digimentals assembled on the back wall inside individual see-through cases. Complete with labels listing the various types. The types and elements were really enchanting but sadly if you wanted to keep the cover the claiming of one and Armor digievolution was beyond your hands, and simultaneously you feel that you weren't really compatible with any of these displayed.
Taking, for example, the Digimental of Courage based on Fire Capabilities and granting enhanced hand-to-hand combat prowess would make you forget about your *teacher* Wolfmon and maybe even a loss of the dual-wielding blades that you used to effectuate your strongest techniques.
The Digielemental of Friendship was also turned down as you lacked the desire to double down your inherent skills in manipulating lighting granted by the data of Blitzmon.
And so it continued your examination to the point that was sincerely better if you maintained your actual status as *Knightmon*.
But in the end, you were tempted by one.
A single Golden Digimental whose power was standing above most of the others combined. A source of power so big that even you were tempted by its light and shine. It feels familiar, like something that you had unknowingly searched for but beyond your reach everytime that you almost touched it until the last moment when Sir Scratch saved you.
A pair of moments later, you spot the vendor floating in front of the far corner and freeze.
Shining gold armor awash with a seemingly unparalleled sense of power and a dense body packed with more strength than you can even fathom. Despite the digimon's small frame, his aura towers over you a veritable giant of overwhelming ability that could render death upon your body with a single gesture. Dull orange eyes lock upon you and then sharpened, the being's mere attention weighing more than a score of tons.
Even in your injured status, you feel yourself analyzed from your core to what you were and what you could be.
And almost found lacking, before you step forward step by step in direction of the Knight, the sheer sense of familiarity was too much that overwhelmed your senses and didn't care about anything else but see closer the end of your path, like a squire watching a Royal Knight of the Kingdom for the first time.
Amusement. Recognition.
By the Great Tree! What are you doing!
The feeling passes as quickly as it had appeared and you only barely manage to stop yourself from stumbling. Magnamon hovers across the shop, showing no signs of the struggle that had just occurred, and comes to a halt in front of Sparks, who somehow hadn't been affected in the least. The Ultimate? Mega? Stares patiently at your friend from behind as if waiting for your friend to make the first move.
"Mine most illustrious greetings, Magnamon correct?"
*Nod*
"Ah, a most fortunate guess. 'tis mine intent to to make a purchase. The Digimental Of Courage specifically. I ask of thee, what is the cost?"
MagnaAngemon nods, then swipe his fingers through the air. Each digit trailing with motes of golden light that forms a series of numbers.
You feel your Digicore stop at that instant, it was ridiculous, the price was multiple times the cost of obtaining your collection of books, is your superior crazy?! That amount was basically pouring all the rewards earned by hunting multiple Ultimates of the Gloaming! Even the payment from deleting Wolfmon, Blitzmon and SkullSatumon wasn't enough!
Even if you hadn't obtained the collection the shared pool of bits wouldn't even reach half of the required amount!
The choice was made in your mind, you had to stop loading mons and hunt down officers of Gloaming to obtain the required amount before the ascension to the Ultimate tier of Sparks.
"Heh, then we shalt have to slay more Gloaming officers!... how would 'twould a Legendary Warrior be worth by your estimate?"
You laughed, freely and were uncaring of looking like an insane digimon, you truly your body shook as a few of your immolated injuries opened but you didn't cared as your amusement was just too much!
Sparks you truly are my perfect partner and equal.
"What a surprise, I was thinking the same." You admitted with a tone of smug satisfaction. "Hunting down the Ten will be difficult but what it matters about the other seven after two fell by our squad?"
Your desire their data so much, after tasting the benefits of Wolfmon and Blitzmon's loading there wasn't doubt that seven more warriors would truly gift you the perfection that your Lady deserved.
With Sparks's business in the marketplace concluded, you both start towards the assigned barracks. Stopping only briefly for your equal to buy a newspaper from a Salamon. You're more than a little curious about what's on the pages, but patiently dragged the Wizardmon that was reading so you could visit Pid and get the necessary healing to enjoy the lecture too.
Pid was easy to trick for it by just wanting to experience the light of the Lord as an excuse.
It wasn't by any means a chore to talk with the Pidmon but your lecture on the newspaper and book collection took priority.
To your surprise, a bounty to your head was already published and a quite high one, you saw Sparks looking at you with worry but your interest was in how many more enemies you could end up fighting now that they were filled with greed, besides that just the name Imperialdramon caught your eye.
The photo of the writer laying on her back and winking at the camera was just a 2 compared to the Angewomon that you have seen around and not even reached the figure of... why do you feel that Sir Scratch would want to kill you? This comparison was merely an act of factual understanding of the world and where other digimon stand as is proper.
Ignoring this weird feeling, the return to the barracks came with a chance of meditating and recover as Pid sadly was out exploring. And in that moment of privacy, you told Sparks of the event that caused your injuries as you described it as a force of destruction incompletely channeled by your wrath being interrupted.
He asked then if you could fly now too and then let you meditate to recover before you both could try Pidmon into using that power of his on your injuries. By Lunch the worst was taken care of but your reserve once again was dry as a dessert, hunger feel like near starvation and you consumed so much more today that the appetite of an Ultimate was imitated, the issue reached the point that another member of the staff decided to pay you off to abandon the installations.
A bit insulting but every single coin counts in obtaining a Digimental.
Beat is the next member of your group to arrive alongside your wards who looked barely capable of moving, he continues his attempts to be more sociable but was a work in progress. The Stingmon informs the both of you that he's not only found a fitting gym, but also acquired a set of passes, one for each of you. Your friend-subordinate, didn't think to mark it down on his map, but the champion offers to lead you there tomorrow for training. Naturally you agree for the sake of testing your newest limits after loading Legendary Warriors.
Pid returns last but... the winged digimon doesn't seem entirely there. Instead of giving his normal boisterous greetings, the low-ranking angel just kind of hovers past a ridiculously happy grin showing beneath his helmet. You've never seen him act like this before, even the happiness he had after seeing SistermonNoir was more... content than overwhelmed. Sparks and Beat both notices the odd behavior as well and all three of you silently agree to go up and ask the Pidmon about it.
You feel a bit of camaraderie born in your chest for some reason.
Upon asking him what happened however...
"Aaah. Friends, Sparks, Verge, Beat. Hyuk, hyuk. This day I have seen the glorious, undying holy light, and it was beautiful to behold." What was saying this idiot?
You gave a look to Sparks, your comrade had this inborn translater of idiots and flowery stuff.
"Lord Pit, thine words lack actual descriptions. Please inform us of what occurred." And even he couldn't understand it.
Sometimes you think that you are the only sane digimon of your squad alongside your wards.
"The Lord blessed me this day my friends. The great Seraph Ophanimon was present in the cathedral and... so radiant. Beautiful. She truly embodied the very essence of holy light, even when so bound. Her power was magnificent and... haaaah. She smiled at me."
"Heh, hehehehe. Now I get it." Sparks begins cackling uncontrollably, much to the confusion of you and the Stingmon, but Pit doesn't seem to notice.
"I would give nearly anything to see her again. And if I could just... get close enough to bask in her aura..." The angel sighs again even as Sparks continues to crack up.
You could understand that, he found someone that he was willing to serve and protect, it was good for him.
"Spit it out." You ordered filling it unappropriated.
"Yes. I too am curious over... this."
"Alright, alright. *Mister Holy* over there is head over heels for this *Ophanimon* like those ridiculous fans of Blanc and Noir, he's been overwhelmed by her *Radiance*. Hehehe. Almost like thine tendency to stare at Ardat."
"What?!/What?!/What?!/HISS!?"
You looked at the Wizardmon completely uncaring and unimpressed by the filthy lies said against your honor.
"My interest for the safety of Lady Ardat is purely for professional reasons, mine acts of following my oaths are the nature of true chivalry and honor amount digimon of my type." You looked at every member with your squad but only found traitors who gave you a stare of 'Yeah, sure' even your wards avoided looking directly at your face. "Beat back me up, this attempt to bring sanity to the end of its lifespan is insulting."
The Stingmon looks towards you his eyes lacking so much as a hint of mercy, then shakes his head.
"He's right." You feel the betrayal deep in your core.
While you're holding a mental debate about how much you needed these morons to be alive, Pit begins to mutter.
"No! Friend Sparks I can't like her like that. She's Ophanimon! The purest most holy, radiant, beautiful, and amazing... I'm just a sergeant and she's one of the three orginal Seraphs! There's no way that would even work! I can't... what would those feelings even mean?"
A single word came to your mind as you watched the Pidmon act more of a fool than usual.
Simp.
You didn't know what it mean but it fits.
And also managed to get yourself healing because you needed multiple tries to finally understand the Light of the Lord.
2.4K of length Part done and in resume, this ends with Verge being a complete hypocrite to his nature.
