No, let me rephrase that; they kicked ass, took names, and nearly died when going home

The only casualty was the right eye of Wiljem, having taken an ax through the faceplate early on in the fighting. Yet, as they had fought to protect a village with over 500 U'kali, one of their shamans managed to restore sight to his eye, though failed to heal the scar tissue or the iris going white. He has last been seen being dragged by his ear by his furious sister and being followed by his fretting boyfriend. Something about "it being unfair"?
Oh hell yeah . And truly Wiljem has luck nearing protagonist levels.

Also, regarding the choice. Is it a 'pick your poison' type situation or are all going on simultaneously and we only know about one?

Ok Hero please explain why the scrap knights are so dangerous, its not the poor construction is it?
The opposite, actually. Scrap Knights are, notoriously, shitty in all aspects, and more likely to get a Pilot killed than allowing them to kill even a low-spec Knight of any other nation. Their use lays in there being, like, 5-10x times as many Scrap Knights as normal Knights in any fight. They win through numbers alone.

You could use them, but they'd be smoked within a single engagement with anything equaling Knights.
I'm assuming the reroll didn't count then?
I thought I used the reroll for this, I even labeled as such in the roll order.
That Action has an accumulative roll, with a note that it won't benefit from any boni/traits. Otherwise, you could have rolled up to four d100's to get the bonus.

One for each nation, one for Calynth.

They aren't "haha, get fucked!" options, but "the world has been changed, and you get to choose the paths."
Each has good and bad things within them.

So... They are this universe Zaku's but theres no jaggers to have a semi equal fight.

I would say maybe give a body to ^Ä^ but even if he acept i still think that would be an insult.

I think these options could interact in interesting ways and help prepare Calynth for the apocalypse.

I found out what the pilgrims probably are.
They are a bunch of technocraths with a Cantian aspects. Also agnostic.

Guys we just had a update so I don't think there is a active vote right now.

Will it help that the new Arc is called: The Calm Within, and will last for (at minimum) 140 Turns?

I mean, it should. But with all the apocalypse foreshadowing you've been dropping, I am instead even more nervous. Makes me worry about that gold chain brainwashing from the flashback.

On the other hand, good grief. Martyris and Selene will *definitely* be dead before that arc's done.

Question: Does this new arc mean we've finally advanced to the point where our actions are going to start having a broader scope? I mean things like instead of "spread the word, recruit 20 new pilgrims", something like, "send missionaries to X to start a new branch of the Pilgrims."

Oh, also, two very minor criticisms:

One, I really don't see the point in in invisitexting a set of vote options. :p

Second, this kind of vote for say, omake lore rewards is fine, there it's about discovery and the clues are usually more informative. But for at least myself, I really dislike having to make such massive choices off of clues so vague they could mean anything. Just feels like an entire slate of trap options. Even just a vague sentence each would be much better.

140 turns are about 30 years or so, Marty probably will die due cancer but selene have a decent chance to be around.

Yeah, Martyris is probably not going to make it that far but everyone else should still be alive. Pilgrims seem to be slanted towards young people, so in 30 years most of this 'Generation 0' should still be alive, albeit most will probably have retired.

Wiljem and Willow just turned 27, Aria is about 23-4, and I don't know how old needle is but she'll probably be around.

Though by that time we'll probably be building retirement homes.

Once you have 1.500 followers, you will be able to do so!

Fair, removed that. My inner drama won me over at that.

Added some descriptions.

[] Burning Skies
When the fire of engines burns in war and peace alike across the world.

Sounds like everyone is going to get in on Air Ships/Motorized Not Knights in response to our Airships.

[] Shattered Earth
I was there, when the skies fell to the ground, or did the ground rose to the skies?

Either a Meteorite impact, a giant Earthquake, a Volcanic Eruption, or some combination of the three.

[] Conquer The Skies
This advantage is too important to be left aside, and so, we will grasp it with both hands. By fire and flame we will make the world a village once more.

Okay but seriously airships are the future.

[] Mandate Of Heaven
These are our lands, and so too, will these be our skies. Let none stay in our path.

And it will be our future and no one else's.

[] The Dimming Sun
Have you ever known the rebirth of a God?

Sounds like Gold is waking up.

[] Ascendancy Of Light
Forgive me, Father. For I have sinned so that our people may rise.

Or a Civil War against or within the Church. Maybe some sort of Forbidden Activation?

[] Guts, Gold, And Glory
Why bloody your hands, if you can hire someone to do it for you?

Proxy Wars and Mercenary Armies from the sound of it.

[] Blood Is Cheap, And So Are You
Human, Female, 14, Empire. Sold for 29 Hamar. Human, Female, 15, Dul, pregnant. Sold for 34 Hamar. Human...

Slavery. If this wins, we pivot to stopping it.

[] Unified Trauma
The scars of trauma run deep, and connect even the most far flung into one cohesive whole.

The nation that comes together

[] No Escape, No Respite, No Retreat
A horror has awakened. We will have to stand against it, united.

Is the nation that slays together.

Is there a reason that we have removed our best artifact from the black box or am I misreading it as it seems that we have been removing the Hololith from the thing recently for objectively worse artifacts. Or do we have two slots for the thing now?

-[X][Diplomacy] School The Diplomat-Corp - (Specialized) - (Criminal Gangs) - (2/2 Turns Complete)
--[X](+6FF)=+6
Needed: 45, Rolled: 79 + 21 = 100
+1 Turn of Progress
Success!
And that finishes the training of our diplomats. Now we could do the Tessen Favor action next Turn.

-[X][Martial] Pump Those Legs! - (Incubi (@karmaoa, you may change the name)) - (- 9.85 Materials)
--[X] (Basic) Cloth/Leather Armor 0.80 Materials, Lillith (Glaive): Caphractan-Alloy 9.05 Materials,
Success!
I'm fine with it. I thought about a name like Hedgehog or something but Incubi does fit with the name of their weapon and they are supposed to penetrate their enemies with their weapons.

-[X][Learning] Optical Camouflage - (Advanced Chemical/Advanced Biology) - (10/10 Successes)
--[X] (1 [SC] +12, 1 [DOC] +12, Scientific Theory +15, Black Box +5)=+44
--[X] Feeding Stations +20 to Advanced Weapons/Chemicals, 1 Acidic Globules +20 to Advanced Weapons/Chemicals, Report On Vivisections +20 to Advanced Biology=+60
Needed: 24/57/99 for 1/2/3 Success, Rolled: 61 + 104 = 165 Medium Artificial Success!
+2 Medium Artificial Successes!
+3 Successes!
Success!
Huh, I fully expected this to take another Turn. So, 2 open Actions... Probably heavy or medium armor for the Incubi unit, and maybe fashion? We are going to need the guaranteed Successes for the Circuits.

-[X][Learning] Secret Of The Circuit Pt.3 - (Advanced/Pioneer Electronics) - (4/20 Successes) - (-120 Materials)
--[X] (Scientific Theory +15, Electronics Workshop +20, Black Box +5, +4FF)=+44
--[X] Thermodynamic Pump +20 to Advanced Hydraulics/Electronics, Seeker-Shells +20 to Advanced Weapons/Electronics, Hardened Tracking System +20 to Advanced Armor/Electronics, Rusted Walker Eye Component +20 to Advanced Electronics, 1 Destroyed Sentinel Remains +20 to Machinery/Armor/Programming/Electronics, Holographic Sights +20 to Advanced Weapons/Electronics=+120
Needed: 89/173/254% for 1/2/3 Successes, Rolled: 33 + 164 = 197
+2 Successes!
*blinks*
*squints at the project description in the last update*
@HeroCooky Shouldn't the third tier be -154%?

-[X][Learning] The Means Of Reproduction - (All Chemicals/Medicine/Biology) - (22/20 Successes)
--[X] (Scientific Theory +15, Black Box +5)=+20
Needed: 01/05/10 for 1/2/3 Successes, Rolled: 85 + 20 = 105 Medium Artificial Success
+2 Medium Artificial Successes!
+3 Successes!
Success!
I'm curious what the overflow on that project looks like.

-[X][Archeology] Loot The Bunkers Outer Defenses - (3/3 Turns Complete)
--[X] (1 [ENG] +14, +6FF)=+20
Needed: 43, Rolled: 71 + 20 = 91
Artifacts: 38
And that finishes that part of the Bunker. Now we only need one more Action in this category to get the last airship(if we use both Personal Actions) and then we can focus on fighting our way into the lower parts of the Bunker.

-[X][Tree of Knowledge] Communal Festival - (2/2 Turns Complete)
Needed: 35/65/95, Rolled: 13 + 73 = 86
Success!
-2 to Piety Rolls
Ouch, bad place for a low roll, but it could be worse.

-[X] The Adventurer Guild - (1 Action)
--[X] Investigate - (Criminal Organisations) - (-3 Materials)
Success?
Still a giant, chaotic mess? On the other hand, we probably would want to know if one faction looks like it's going to win. And I really want to know why our relations with the Bad Batch improved.

Black Box:
Feeding Stations, Rolled: 51 Failed
1 Acidic Globule, Rolled: 62 Failed
Report On Vivisections, Rolled: 78 Failed
Thermodynamic Pump, Rolled: 57 Failed
Seeker-Shells, Rolled: 66 Failed
Hardened Tracking System, Rolled: 79 Failed
Rusted Walker Eye Component, Rolled: 08 Failed
1 Destroyed Sentinels Remains, Rolled: 04 Failed
Holographic Sights, Rolled: 56 Failed
... That was hilariously unlucky. Nearly 10 dice rolls and not a single one over 80.

Expedition Returns With Glory - The Tessen Speaker
After half a year spent on foreign shores, within hostile jungles and deadly combat, the Expedition to the south returns, bloodied, beaten, banged up, but not broken! Instead, they stand proud, defiant, and with the knowledge that they have delivered Justice to butchers and slaughterers alike, bringing hope to those whose shores are assailed by the malignant Eversun. The returning forces showed the trophies gained, gathered, won, taken, and collected with cheer and cherish during and after the campaign! One of the most celebrated trophies taken is the Banner of the Beating Hearth, a holy symbol of significant importance to the Eversun, portraying the path to the Eternal Light, having been wielded by the Luminous Cardinal who had overseen the attempted Genocide before being killed herself! Stories and rumors about the Expeditions exploits are already running wild, with books, movies, radio plays, plays, toys, and more circulating throughout the Empire with the speed of lightning! There are even rumors about the Emperor Himself giving titles to those who had acquitted themselves in exemplary fashion throughout the campaign.
(Read more in our Special Edition tomorrow!)
That went better than expected. I'm curious what the Empire will do now though. Ignore the U'kali until the next conflict with the Eversun? Sending long-term aid?

The Crowding Skies - The Truthful Observers
It seems that, with every passing year, more and more airships take to the skies, slowly but surely becoming less and less of a magnificent spectacle and more akin to a fact of life. Goods and people are being transported with ever greater ease across the Region, cutting what would have taken weeks into mere hours, turning profit and imagination on their heads! Merchants and Nobles alike have been heard muttering about trying to acquire airships themselves, with some already pooling funds to ensure they can be the first to pay with liquid assets for the seemingly, endless gold mines these airships represent. Additionally to those merely seeking money or prestige, writers and artists have, apparently, gained wings, or only depict and write about them, from the intensifying air travel. One of those, The Tales Of Arcadia, to be precise, has gained fame throughout the nation, being printed more than three million times!
(Read more on pages 15-17)
Hmm, we could start on some of the Learning projects for airships. 1 Action would be enough for most projects, except for Pressurized Suspendium. That one needs a few guaranteed Successes.

One More Please - Rags, Rumors, And Rants
Another season passes, and another Pilgrim Asylum opens its gates, supported by the Followers of Light, though watched none the lesser for that. Voices within the population are growing in discontent and suspicion against the Pilgrims when, with all due scrutiny, their treatment of those confined within their Asylums has been nothing but exemplary and dedicated. However, even those who have nothing but pure intentions and motives must contend with those who see darkness even within the light, yet, what could be expected from those who'd rather see a Mutated burst into flames than a human slightly singed? We have spoken with both caretakers, families, and, when willing and capable, patients of the Pilgrims, so read for yourself, dear reader, what truly goes on behind those open gates!
(Read more on pages 13-19)
Surprising that there are negative rumors about our asylums. That indirectly casts doubt on the Followers of Light too. On the other hand, we are talking about asylums...

The military finished the last of their objectives within the Yellow Zone, publicly extending the Green Zone by nearly two kilometers in all directions! Not publicly is their fight against Mother. They hit hard, fast, furious, and mercilessly, striking with precision and hatred in one fell swoop before the damned Mutant was able to muster an effective defense. Thanks to that, only 27 Knights have been destroyed, with 15 Pilots able to bail before being killed, though two being honorably discharged and transferred to the Imperial Military Academies due to their Injuries.
Only 27 Knights... I note it also doesn't state that the Mother is dead...

Our forces have returned, and they have returned overburdened with glory, notations, achievements, loot, artifacts, and surprises.
Ok, who is pregnant?:V

The Unbroken have had both luck, tragedy, and triumph throughout the Expedition, as they managed to recover several lesser Artifacts and scientific materials from their surroundings and the Eversun colonies, respectively. Yet, when they had been forced to contend with flamethrower armed forces, they were forced to play a deadly game of hide-and-seek, leading to the death of Mahal, Gera Min, and Su-Jiu Min due to burning. Yet, they managed to get their revenge, bringing back two nearly pristine Phoenix Suits and Enlighteners. But, unfortunately, those are little comfort for those who have lost friends and family.
Dam, despite the retreat/disengage roll from the Smokebombs and the casualty reducers. Those flamethrowers must have a hell of a range.

The Wall had had a somewhat more... enjoyable... time with the Expedition. No, let me rephrase that; they kicked ass, took names, and nearly died when going home. The U'kali thought the Wall was possessed by ancient spirits when they fought, as every member of the Unit managed to create a local legend with their actions. However, the most notable one, and the one occurring a day before leaving, was when every member earned their last names (by widespread acclaim of everyone, even the Commander sent by the Emperor). Namely, all of them are now known as [First Name] Bastion after they managed to hold off an entire regiment of the Eversun on their own, with wits, tactics, guts, and grit. Within a fight lasting nearly three hours before reinforcements could help, they managed to kill over 200 Eversun soldiers without losing anyone!
That definitely sounds like it will give them a trait.

In a weird twist, Aria and PD have had little things to note, having engaged 8 Scrap-Knights in combat before defeating them, missing the required 17 (against Scrap-Knights, all other Knights are at 5) to ascend into an Ace. Yet, she managed to give a good showing, helping defend another U'kali Village; however, it needed to be evacuated as the Eversun began bombarding it with Fire-Missiles. Yet, she managed to take a trophy herself from one of the attacking Scrap-Knights, a Banner of Lumination.
Every bit helped. I wonder if we'll have to redesign that banner...

Overall, the farewells of our Units were large, heartfelt, and tinged with bittersweet goodbyes. Not because people took lovers, but because some U'kali were ordered to leave for the (relative) safety of the Empire, bringing with them several (overjoyed) Iwis. A "contingency, so that our peoples may live, even if we fall," as one shaman declared. Some of them joined us, seeing the Pilgrims as "spiritual siblings" within the world.
Hmm, and now I wonder if we could organize a trade route to them.

38x U'kali Converts (2 Doctors)
Huh, we're getting pretty close to having 5 Doctors. We only need 6 for the Small Medicinal School.
