Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

[x]Check up on Sam. You haven't heard of him all day for some odd reason.
[X]Don't spend any

Given this day, odds of him fucking up somewhere is high.
*Had just seen the news of this woman who died in a broken lift of starvation*

Nepgear hits for the jackpot!
Reequip: ????
-500xp
Improve Team equipment.

Synchronize: ????
-350xp
Allows practitioner allies to sync their spells with yours.

Echo of Peace
-550xp
Adds ability Echo of Peace. Reduce all damage caused to allies during battle by 65% before damage calculation.
So...if I'm reading this right, combining all three means that TEAM GEAR would be fighting at a weak magical girl level EACH when working together?
Health: 550
Base Damage: 1,021
Base Resilience: 305
Magic Modifier: 205
Affinity: Purity | Faith | Divinity

The Judge Cannon
Level 11
Attacks Per Turn: 3
Affinity: Purity | Divinity
Ability: Collateral Damage | Full Auto

End Game
Level 10
Base Damage: 11,500
Magic Modifier: 165
Affinity: Purity | Faith
Ability: Full Auto | Juggernaut
"You don't need to defend if they are all dead from round 1" huh?

Armord Core: Steel

Level 15
-A barrier that separates Judgement Core from the mortal. Damage must exceed 25% of Judgement Core's health to pass through. Success reduces the taken damage by 25%.
Typo in ability name.

@crystalwatcher
Does the newly revealed "Echo of Peace" ability stack with things such as Red Rose's "To Stand Amongst Gods" and Uni's Judgement Core's version of "Armored Core"?

As in, if fighting alongside Judgement Core after we purchase Echo of Piece, will the damage that Judgement Core takes be reduced by both effects, making her only take 26.25% damage (0.75 * 0.35 = 0.2625)?

Since Echo of Peace procs before any other damage calculation, the answer is almost certainly 'yes'.

Almost certainly. It is explicitly stated to take place before damage calculation so it's the very first thing applied.

Basically:

Attack -> Echo of Peace -> Base Resilience -> Abilities.

So if we take Judgement Core for example and say an attack from a Hell Beast:

Hellfire Damage = 1,500 + 250 = 1,750

Less Each of Peace = 1,750 * 0.35 = 613

Less Base Resilience = 613 - 305 = 308

Less Armored Core: Steel = 308 > 138 Therefore 308 * 0.75 = 231

Final Damage = 231

So basically, if Judgement Core upgrades her Armored Core skill some more and we grab Echo of Peace, Judgement Core will be basically as difficult to kill as Red Rose when we're fighting as a team.
inb4 the Lily Ranks mechanic exists here too.

Not really? Red Rose's To Stand Amongst Gods can proc multiple times and ensures that the most damage she can take is %20 of her max health. This means that things that really shouldn't be survivable by anything like Rei going all out, Red Rose would survive. Uni sure as hell can't manage that.

Well, yeah, but things like that are so far outside our weight class that the "fighting as a team" aspect is negated anyways since they could effortlessly instakill Nepgear too.

I should have worded it as Judgement Core becoming nearly as hard to kill as Red Rose when we're working as a team against things that can't oneshot Nepgear multiple times over.

Hmm Echo of Peace seems really bad to purchase right now since it would elevate us to a priority target for the Unified Darkness. I'd suggest waiting until we're stronger to buy it.

[X]Take a long shower and go to bed. Sounds like the perfect end to this day.
[X]Don't spend any

Need to save up for the unbreakable.
And after food fight, Nepgear must get clean or she will wake up with ants

Indeed. Given their similar prices I'd recommend Reequip over Echo of Peace for improving our allies since it's less obvious while still making our most vulnerable allies, Team GEAR, harder to kill.

Well, it's probably not that obvious unless it's a circumstance where we're likely to lose a team member from injury anyway. Reducing damage by that much still gets them instantly killed by magical girl and greater demons.

Basically, it's big, but don't overrate it on the "Unified Darkness would kill us" scale.
Our Affinities are relatively more noticeable than that(and isn't really THAT noticeable due to magical girls being bullshit).

Armored Core is quite obvious:
(Candy Crush: 200 Base Damage, +30 Dice, +10 Surprise = 240 Total Damage
Solid Core: 125 Base Resilience, +71 Dice = 196 Damage Reduction

Armored Core Check: Below 200 = Attack Negated)

"Gah!" You swing an arm over your face, and the candy slams into you. But instead of pain, it is met with a flash of golden light, and you feel none.
You barely make it to the door when two zombies outright tackle you to the ground.

(Rending Jaws: 25 Base Damage, no dice, +15 Grapple = 40 Total Damage
Rending Jaws: 25 Base Damage, no dice, +15 Grapple = 40 Total Damage
Solid Core: 85 Base Resilience, +9 Dice = 94 Damage Reduction

0 Total End Damage: Armored Core Negation)

"Gah!" Your shout draws attention, but its too late as the two zombies pile atop you. But their jaws are stopped by your golden barrier, unable to break through.

So I have no doubt Echo of Peace would appear as some kind of obvious barrier/shield/whatever. It would probably only take a few engagements for the Unified Darkness to determine Solid Core is the source of the barrier.

Now I'm not sure if it would grab their attention enough to warrant kill squads or whatnot but it would almost certainly be obvious.

Obvious in the sense that "this is a game changer, eliminate it before it change the game!"
They know about the Core Containment being a barrier, but not exactly how hard because it's never really stopped anything powerful that they know of, nor how fast it's defensibility grows.

A barrier which protects a modest number of human mooks from enemy mook attacks(and crumples like wet tissue paper against elite attacks), is not a game changer except for Nepgear.

She doesn't want to lose anyone anymore, but to the Unified Darkness? One human mook soldier is a human mook soldier. Replacable, just add training time. They're just a magical girl's equipment.

Actually, I think there isn't a limit to how many allies Echo of Peace protects.

Echo of Peace
-550xp
Adds ability Echo of Peace. Reduce all damage caused to allies during battle by 65% before damage calculation.

See, no mention of a limit besides it only applying to those we consider allies, which can include everyone in an army. That is a game changer.

They wouldn't know until we start showing up with armies though?

How many combats we've been in where we're with more than a squad of people for a scene?

It's one of those things that are bound to happen sooner or later, I think.
Another thing to keep in mind is that researchers are going to be very interested in this ability, since they're after a way to increase the survivability of human troops. If they can crack a way to create even a lesser version of this ability human troops will have much better chances in battle.

Who says it's a modest number of mooks? It's defined as just allies that could range anywhere from the entire unified light to any ally in the same battle as us. Cutting all attacks against the unified light in half might get the dark lord himself to come kill us and even if it's just the battle we're currently in if it's a battle that fields armies we'd end up buffing the entire army.

So since we have enough XP to afford it, I'm going to go ahead and for for a plan that improves our defenses.

[X] Raise Core Containment to level 9 (70+80=150 XP)

This raises our health to 550, brings us closer to INDESTRUCTIBLE CORE, and improves our tankiness.
