One thing that just occurred to me. If we're standing at the end of a hallway and firing an AOE to fill up the rest of the entire hallway, the only way for White Soul to dodge is to make a new body appear right next to Nepgear, too close for the attack to have spread out to fill the width of the room.
When she clones herself, White Soul's clone has to be within touching distance to the one that used the spell, and starts at a dead stop.
This seems like an appropriate time to embrace weirdness.
Weirdness is fine.
Unpredictable and
unreliable weirdness is not fine. Especially since Nepgear has too much power and too little control and lots of things around that she doesn't want to destroy.
-[X] Get some distance between yourself and the barrier, then taunt White Soul into using Soul Rend against you
What part of "enormously experienced former #1 magical girl" says "easily taunted" to you? If she sees us trying to bait her, she
will not fall for it. The only reason my plan had us lowering our guard was because I thought she might come up with something else nasty before she managed to penetrate it on her own, and I
still expect her to figure out that we're baiting her. She's had her powers for a long time, and convinced most people that she was unkillable despite her weaknesses. She is emphatically not an idiot.
Are you sure that [PEACE] is the best thing to say? We could theoretically say other things.
I'd rather stick to [PEACE] and maybe [WAR]. Concepts which we know are both weak and friendly to us, and won't obliterate us because we surprised them by shouting their name.
And I think that it is the best shot we have. We can not afford to waste any time... but we only have one chance to get a drop on White Soul with Starshine; if that does not work as your plan expects, a surprise-Core Purge will not make the difference, either.
Core Purge has the same range as Celestial Severance, so she will already stay out of it... and us suddenly bullrushing her to pull it off will tell her we are planning something.
We aren't trying to
surprise White Soul with
Starshine or
Core Purge. The point is that
Starshine has a big enough AoE that she can't avoid it
anyway. Ditto
Core Purge, except we add on the fact that we're faster than her and can chase her down. And even if she escapes both, they're still useful as area-denial; she can't come near us if we're
Core Purge'ing and she can't bring both bodies too close in case we use one of them, which limits how quickly she can send clones to harass us.
The point of the Conceptual Language is that it might,
maybe, "hit at conceptual speeds" and therefore she can't dodge. Surprise is only a factor in getting her close enough for it to be deadly.
Yes, Heaven had a damping effect. It actively tried protecting everyone from it, but it lacked the metaphysical weight to save everyone from damage.
*Thinks about how powerful Heaven is*
…
Okay, new rule: no Conceptual Language shenanigans within ten miles of—
Back to the issue at hand @crystalwatcher if we get to the other end of the hallway, would that be far enough away to avoid tanging Insight?
This would work.
—oh. I guess Gaia does some dampening too?
Well, even if Gaia isn't hanging around base anymore, couldn't we draw her attention by going out of range of all the mortals at base and then yelling as conceptually 'loudly' as we can
COMMUNICATION/SELF]
Please talk to me.
As long as we're on Earth, Gaia is technically everywhere and can make an avatar appear wherever she wants, right?
Yes, let's shout a greeting to every Divine Being around in a massively outdated dialect. There's no chance this could possibly lead to unpleasant attention.
Talking to Gaia is probably OK though. It would tell her more about what we are, which is…
probably a good thing. So long as she doesn't decide we're a threat to her interests.
Also, repeating this for @crystalwatcher:
The battlefield is more of a wide hallway/small entryway that leads into the central structure of the Necropolis. The whole thing is roughly 50 meters wide, and 70 or so meters long with Irene and Anastasia standing at either end.
Did you accidentally a zero? Because 50 meters is not a "wide hallway". 5m would be. (Nor, for that matter, is something 70m long a "small entryway".) Also, she's pretty fast to have crossed fifty meters in the few seconds between her first and second attacks, unless that's the distance she
retreated to after seeing
Celestial Severance.
The overhanging plant life is low enough to be cut through with Severance, but the fallout of that is for you guys to discover.
Does that mean that it's at eye-level, or fifty meters up?

And what kind of vegetation is it? Ivy would make sense for a roof, but if it's really that wide then it could be trees, or if it's narrower it could be trees hanging over from outside the walls. Also, I was asking about the roof, not plants (though the information is still useful). Destroying hanging ivy won't reduce structural integrity, but cutting down walls or busting through the ceiling would.
Also: what exactly is the shape, size and layout of these barriers? If they're planar, or otherwise don't completely surround the others (and we know that Insight is "pressing herself against a wall"), then Sega could go through the wall (her damage is high enough that even without Collateral Damage or room to swing she should be able to get through, I think). Do they just cover the interior of the passageway, or do they extend beyond it through the walls (or can't we tell)?
