Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

When the Nuke detonates, the array waits for the new 'star' to hit it's stride before ritually killing it off early. Functionally doing a "Sacrifice of a New Born Baby, right out of the mother's womb" to fuel a ritual that outright annihilates everything within the designated target zone with enough power to blow through planet-level morality barriers. A fact that scares a lot of Gaia's would-be killers shitless.
....I approve.

This is a praiseworthy line of logic.

I'm gonna hate myself saying.

But isn't insight stun technically sonic and thus runs head long into the girl sonic immunity?

And we can star shine the mooks without wiping her right?
So I guess the follow-up question is: does Grey Champion's (presumably loud) singing get loud enough that she couldn't hear Insight shouting at her? (I'm guessing Insight and Red can figure that out?)

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that we might just have to send in Nepgear to do everything alone for best results, which irks the part of me that wants other characters to be useful, but if the problem is a nail, sometimes the solution is a hammer.
I'll leave this to trial and error for you guys.

The Nuclear Warhead, Humanity's ultimate "Fuck you in particular" weapon of mass destruction, initially didn't benefit all that much from magic... until someone got the bright idea to introduce ritual sacrifice into the mix.

The Answerer, and in turn the Brahmastra, were designed on the idea that what they functionally make are short-lived stars. Which, when it comes to magic, is all that matters. Despite being so tiny as to have lifespans measures in seconds, the Answerer and Brahmastra deploy what amounts to a quick-make magical circle while descending towards the target via a complicated Brand-Craft array.

Well....
Is it sad that the first thing I think of is how to improve upon this?
Have the bomb set up in a way to 'functionally' give birth to multiple short-lived stars and then "sacrifice multiple New Born Babies right out of the Mother's Womb".
I feel like a horrible person.

I think fratricide would keep that from working. The first ritual that happens would wipe out the other effects, or the nuke going off would destroy the ritual and just leave a lot of hot air.

*looks up*

They figured out how to do that but not that they'd want some ~300 kiloton nukes to play with? Damnit Gaia! Give us some tactical options instead of just filling your toolbox with ways to give Divine Entities you don't like black eyes!

[X] Plan Just Do It (but make sure you have a backup plan, too)

I was just thinking... it would be hilarious if Nepgear just called out to Grey Champion and asked for her autograph before the fight starts; then she flies over to get it and starts Core Purge once there.
Grey Champion subdued and free, all enemies dead and no one got hurt.

Also, if White Soul is the champion of this bossrush... why do we not just have Goddess Gold vaporise the whole necropolis once we get Grey Champion and ourselves out of it? I doubt she expects that, so she will have both her bodies inside and die. Other Magical Girls that were not yet raised would also be lost to the Unified Darkness as well.

Looking at that, it makes a lot of sense. Does anyone have thoughts on the matter, or reasons why it would not work?

  • [X]Plan let it rain
-[X]Solid Core aims a Starshine to take out the mooks. And approach to core purge as soon. As it won't get her swatted
-[X] Aquila, and James will also focus on getting rid of the mooks while not being killed. Try to take up positions where they can duck behind cover quickly.

-[X]Insight and red should hold back for surprises.

--[X] Red Rose muderizes stuff that gets close to her.
--[X] James and Aquila find cover and take shots at the undead.
    --[X] Insight does Insight things.
--[X] Solid Drive focuses on keeping Red Rose healed with Shield Charge while getting as little attention as possible.
--[X] Solid Core ducks out of sight while trying to look vulnerable.
-[X] Once the mob has been dispersed Insight should use her spell as Solid Core rushs out and try to headbutt/grapple Grey Champion. Ask Insight for the best method to deal with the seal.
[x] Plan Just Do It (but make sure you have a backup plan, too)
-[x] Core Purge immediately. Begin flying to activate Supremacy Zone, and adjust position to keep Grey Champion in range if necessary.

-[x] Solid Drive goes up and separates from the group a little, to prevent being caught by unexpected AoE, and casts Shield Charge on Grey Champion.
-[x] Everyone but Solid Core stays ready to intervene in case of surprises, or get to cover if Grey Champion lasts more than two seconds.
-[x] If Core Purge fails to take out Grey Champion and Solid Drive successfully boosts Grey Champion's Health, Starshine against Grey Champion (and hopefully her Seal) and all surviving mooks. Make sure to aim most of it into the air to limit collateral damage.

-[X] You will activate Core Purge the second Grey Champion is within its range, aiming to destroy her Seal and not kill her. Be wary in case the purge doesn't work, like with the Radiances. Try to put yourself between Grey and any potential targets
-[X] If Core Purge doesn't get rid of the seal, try to figure out what's protecting it, and if possible, get rid of the protection and then the seal ASAP.
    [x] Plan riot control
-[x] Charge Gray full flight speed ahead. the instant we reach core range we hit her with it. hopefully our charge draws attention to us.
-[x] all range combatants should use their attacks to keep gray from moving away from us.
-[x] Red Rose handles the minions. If they get boosted before we get Gray she is the one best able to survive.
-[x] Insight can either join in the range group or throw a grenade at the minions which ever seems more viable on her turn.

Would any of you mind adding something like

[] Before the fighting starts, call out to Grey Champion and ask for her autograph
-[] If she says yes, fly over to her to get it and activate Core Purge the moment you have her autograph

to your votes? If it works, we can save a lot of effort; if Grey says no, we are just back to your respective plans anyway.

Edit:
Grey Champion subdued and free
I also just realised that this would normally be a paradox.

No, not the moment you land in front of her. After you get her autograph.

I changed the wording.

By the way, how much of the recent developments did the Old Guard miss due to being dead?
From what I remember, someone probably has to tell them that Hope has fallen, the Goddess Four splintered and a lot of other more recent things.

None right now; I am okay with all the plans suggested and making my own right now would probably not work. So, as visible above, I just hope the others will take it into their plans instead. I would not see a reason not to, considering the worst case is Nepgear asking and being told no before the fighting starts.

The autograph idea sounds Crazy Enough To Work. I approve.

Also, anyone think somebody should collect all the character sheets that were posted during the hiatus?

[x] Plan Just Do It (but make sure you have a backup plan, too)

This is pretty much what i wanted. Atrition is not our friend and Gray has no revealed abilities that can stop a charge. And due to our intel being the person who knows her best it's unlikely to be wrong.

I've edited my plan a bit. Mostly adjusting phrasing to account for the info we got from crys, and remembering to take advantage of Supremacy Zone.

Rituals that allowed people to almost instantly build high-quality structures in minutes with materials that would have originally been considered sub-standard, to increasing crop yields on farms by several orders of magnitude. And researchers are still discovering more and more uses for Magic practically by the day. As it is right now, the only real thing keeping the Akashic Pillar's economy from imploding, or hell, keeping their entire governmental body from spontaneously collapsing, is the fact Humanity is embroiled in the Eternal War in a Good vs Evil death match that is drawing everyone's attention away from the bigger problems.
Wow. That helps explain how they managed the population boom and the extremely rapid colonization of Hope.
Functionally doing a "Sacrifice of a New Born Baby, right out of the mother's womb" to fuel a ritual that outright annihilates everything within the designated target zone with enough power to blow through planet-level morality barriers.
I really hope that only works because it's a newborn star, because pregnant women are not exactly hard to find.

I like this idea. A lot. If she hadn't just told her mooks to attack, I'd go for it. But as it is I think it's too risky. Grey is experienced (and not a ditz like Silver), she'll recognize a trick to get her into melee range when she sees one. And while we've been told she still has her "hero" mentality, so she probably wouldn't accept and then hit us while we're flying over, the mooks and hypothetical others have no such restraint. In any case, this:
Nepgear can hit the entire thing with her Core Purge if she stands where Grey is standing.
implies (by symmetry) that Grey Champion is already in range of Core Purge.

I'm thinking I should add a step to the plan about mopping up any remaining mooks. The question is, do we do it by flying to the middle of the courtyard while Core Purge is active, or through normal attacks? The former has the benefit of being fast (less than a second of flight), while the latter is slow and would let Segarite Core build up Health. They're also vulnerable to different potential ambushes: the former to anything that needs us in the center of the room, would hit us in flight, or from behind (when we're against the wall, they can't hit us from behind), while the latter is vulnerable to anything which takes prep time (notice how Grey didn't stop singing when we came in? What if she was distracting us to buy time?) or involves a new enemy appearing and hitting us. I really hope I'm just being paranoid with the whole "ambush" thing.

Plan let it rain is also reasonable. My only issue with it is that it seems to be formulated under the assumption that we're too far away to Core Purge Grey immediately, and therefore takes two steps to deal with her, which leaves more room for problems. Also, the Starshine is mostly pointless if we Core Purge those mooks anyway. Also, grammar and capitalization.

(1) We don't know that White Soul is the only resurrected MG left. If we can save another high-powered girl, or just someone who matters, that'd be useful. (2) We don't know that both of White Soul's bodies are in there. She might have one back with the UD, or far away from the necropolis—if I were her, I'd never let my bodies come within a mile of each other when I was expecting combat. My hope for doing it in person is that, since Red Rose is a personal issue for her, she'll abandon careful tactics to try to kill her. (Though she could also do that by triggering a bomb as soon as she sees us…) (3) There's supposed to be about fifty MG corpses here, and blowing up your heroes is kind of rude. Plus the other people buried here. (4) When asked previously, crys said:
They're unsure of where in the graveyard the Rezzed girls are. So just up and flattening the place is currently off the table in that regard, otherwise Rei would have already done it. They're also trying to contain the miniature skeleton-zombie apocalypse trapped within the Necropolis' walls to blowing holes in those are also considered a bit of a bad idea right now.
(5) Blowing the place up would prevent our analysts from looking at anything in there. There probably isn't anything useful, but there could be. (6) I dunno, maybe it's historically important or something?

And due to our intel being the person who knows her best it's unlikely to be wrong.
I repeat:
These are their maxed out sheets. No surprises.

to (4) and (1): that was stated before we went in, though; if there were any other notable combatants here, we would probably know about them by now. As it is, the only known person in here is White Soul, once we get Grey Champion out.

As for (3), (5) and (6): I very much doubt that some collateral damage would be more devastating than having about fifty girls resurrected for the Unified Darkness. Additionally, Operation Answerer is near; if the last march of the light is stopped and quelled, then everyone would lose far more than a few bodies and some old buildings. I doubt anyone in a position of power would want to take that risk.

(2) is reasonable, though. On the other hand, GG demolishing the whole thing would probably be too fast for White Soul to disintegrate her second body in time. She also would not have her preferred form of mobility at hand if one body was far away, making her a sitting duck and Red Rose could win the fight the moment she gets into range. Or she would pull out anyway.

In the end, I doubt anything of worth would be lost there; it would throw back the Unified Darkness, though. Also, Rei is pissed off and might storm the necropolis any update. WS will bug out the moment she hears her coming anyway.

As for this, fair enough.
However... one thing:
It is as the song ends that she official acknowledges you, despite her eyes going strait to the Assault team when the door had opened, and not left them since. "Looky here. We seem to have some guests... how about we give them a proper welcome?"

Her audience turns to you and roars in eagerness.

She has not yet told them to attack; this was just a battle-opener. We can still stop her cold, as we did back with San and the Maidens.
And if she tells her subordinates to stay put, they will probably do so.
Additionally, we could just offer to leave our weapon back with our team to make her believe us; I mean, what can a MG without her weapon do?

Screw it, we are in a necropolis anyway.
Let me just go butcher all the existing votes... take some from here, some from there...

Tada, a Frankenvote!

[] Plan Fangirl Agenda
-[]Before the fighting starts, call out to Grey Champion and ask for her autograph; offer to leave your purifier beam with your team as a gesture of sincerety
--[] If she says yes, fly over to her to get it and activate Core Purge the moment you have her autograph
---[] Should her Seal not go down, continue with the next part of the vote

--[] If she says no or ignores you, continue as follows:
---[] Take to the air and charge right at her; activate Core Purge as you move (Do not designate Grey Champion as a target, only her Seal; the same goes for any other Magical Girl that might be around)
---[] If enemy mooks are not in range of Core Purge, have Red Rose take point behind you to keep them from everyone else
---[] Aquila, James and Insight stay back and in cover, the former two focussing fire on the mooks; if Insight is capable of doing it, she stuns Grey Champion
---[] Solid Drive is on overwatch for healing and surprise murder.

---[] In case Grey Champion lasts more then two seconds or dodges the Core Purge somehow, everyone but Red Rose and Solid Core takes cover; Solid Core should get her weapon back if she took it off before
----[] Have Solid Drive boost Grey Champion's Health, then use Starshine against Grey Champion's seal and all surviving mooks. Make sure to aim most of it into the air to limit collateral damage.

There are maybe two seconds lost in calling out... and honestly, we are supposed to be in reach of Core Purge already. Either way, having Red Rose tank the brunt of it sounds like a good plan, with the rest picking off targets of opportunity and elsewhise keeping their heads low. Only Nepgear can dare staying in the open because she will be in the air, completely invulnerable due to Supremacy Zone.

We only have a handful of people now; I want to take the chance for having another nullified battle simply so we have some more combat prowess for White Soul.

By the way, I called it Fangirl Agenda because Nepgear will get that autograph; either now or once she freed Grey and brought her back.
