For the future, I want to strike out independently eventually. We need to get strong enough to survive, but after that going into the deep end would be the best way to grow I think depending on how Faith works for us. And with big organizations like this its always a balance of Freedom vs. Safety, and I very much like being able to freely choose what I want to do.

Also, GG's name is Rei... I know about the Hyperdimension Anime, so that name doesn't inspire confidence in the organization if she's pretty much at the top of it.

I like the idea but if we did break off from Counter Force, they would try to come after us to get us back or label us a Dark Magical Girl and try to take us out. So the only way we could do it, is to became more powerful then Rei and that might take awhile but it's definitely something we should work towards.

I don't think the counter force would be that corrupt.

I really doubt they're that corrupt with all the independents they let run around.

Don't think Worm so much as Sponsored Power Rangers for corruption/how it works I think.

Little bit of paranoia never hurts, as long as its grounded in a realistic worst case anyway, and I admit I was thinking they might have some legalese trap for any MGs signing on making it so they can't ever leave... at which point this entire thing becomes what DBZA's Vegeta put so succinctly:


Except not really. Even in Conquest ending Nepgear wasn't really genocidal.

I could see it being the straw that broke the camel's back, her not showing us any affection, but only if every other aspect of our life sucked too.

Which, to be honest... MGGG doesn't seem to be a very nice person. I mean, she saved us, but she's kind of mean, and seems to take pleasure in doing things that she believes are wrong and/or will cause us unhappiness. I mean, this?

This is not the tone of somebody who thinks they're doing something nice or good for you. This is the tone of somebody intentionally being a jerk. And it confuses me.

Actually, that was rather tame since she was modeled after Gilgamesh, and the fact that she is interested in us.

Once we get more of our Infinite power going we would be upgraded to little sister.

Then she would move heaven and earth to keep us safe. Because we would be precious to her.

Or this would happen once we start spending more time with her.

That actually had no bearing on her name.

I've been looking into making the names of Magical Girls mean something. For example your last name is shared by a musician. 'Rei' - as far as I can find - is the traditional way for Japanese to say 'Zero', while Mitsubishi literally means 'Zero'. So her name is actually "Zero Zero".

That she shares her name with Rei from HDN's anime was a rather amusing oversight that I might ue later for the shits and giggles. lol

The Counter Force views independent Magical Girls as both a boon and a hindrance. From their point of view, they want Magical Girls as part of their forces because they're super-effective against their enemies. So keeping as many alive for as long as possible is one of their objectives.

They see independents the way they do for two reasons: one, an Independent Magical Girl doesn't fall under their command structure so they can't command them directly to where they're needed the most. And two, because their wondering gives them a chance to be in an area that comes under immediate attack and allows them to protect civilian centers in lee of sponsored MG possibly not being in the area to help.

Kinda like a wondering security net just in case. The problem with this is that a lack of training can render them ineffective when it really counts. Kind 'a like poor Candy Heart was. All the training she had could be summed up as 'I watched five MG anime last night'.

The results speak for themselves.

If you guys do strike out as independent they'd like you to at least stay long enough to get some decent training so you don't become just another body in the grinder and are actually useful. They'd also love for you to keep in contact just incase there's an incident near you but your unware of, so you can get on the scene and save lives.

This... -ish.

Rei is modeled after Gilgamesh, yes, but this is actually a significant plot point behind her. More to be revealed later in the quest.

Otherwise, yeah. Rei's ego is massive. She's brutally honest for the simple fact she doesn't see the point of lying. Almost to the point she's mentally incapable of lying. Her claiming you as a pet? That was her literally claiming you as a pet. A far as she's concerned you're now her personal property. This, again, is a significant plot point to her character. More to be revealed in-story.
