Crystalwatcher's Magical Girl Quest!

If you guys do strike out as independent they'd like you to at least stay long enough to get some decent training so you don't become just another body in the grinder and are actually useful. They'd also love for you to keep in contact just incase there's an incident near you but your unware of, so you can get on the scene and save lives.
Honestly the best way to run it seems to be to have some of the most powerful near teleporters or just places that facilitate travel, air bases pretty much, and have the others all just wander around after some basic or even advanced training but still have them all on call for coordination.

Also, have some awesome music cause it only went up a couple days ago:

It would be, yes. But a couple problems:

The biggest is the huge war going on in the background. As badass as Earth' armies are in this setting, they're still fighting across dozens of planets all at once. Exactly how the war is going will be brought up in the tory but, right now they need all the Magical Girls on the front line as they can manage.

After that is that Teleportation is a rare power. Perhaps one in every thousand or so Magical Girls. And considering there aren't that many MGs to begin with, it makes the list of teleporters a very short one. As in, my WoW friend list was longer when I was playing it.

The last and more important point, is that even if a MG gets Teleportation as a power, it tends to cover only a mere dozen or so yards. Only two magical girls have ever had a teleportation range longer than a mile. Problem with that is they're both dead because they killed each other in a death match that danced across what amounts to the entirety of Africa and ended somewhere in Madagascar.

Otherwise the airbase idea is what they're sticking to because it's what they have.

7/10. But that's personal opinion. :V

I will state though. I ADORE how you have this super serious Magical Girl Setting. I normally hate MG's because of how light-hearted and silly they are, but this is the total opposite, and I LOVE IT. Thank YOU!

Thanks a lot!

I'm normally rather fond of MG anime because of that lighthearted-ness. But the ones that stuck the most to me, and thus influenced this work were PMMM, which was a reminder that the bad guys could still be genuinely horrific, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, that bad guys don't have to be throwaways with no plot.

Both are a lot more mature than they would be given initial credit for, and are currently my favorite shows next to HDN.

Another that proved that a MG show didn't have to be very light hearted would be Card Captor Sakura. That one seems light hearted, but contains some pretty deep shit.

This story in general though was influenced by all those, alongside Type-MOON, a few more brutal anime of Questionable Origin and Content, and some noticeably fucked up games like Drakengard.

And Battle Fantasia. That was a defining MG setting if there ever was one that I've come across.

Also Selector Infected Wixoss and Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero, if you want something that isn't AS depressing as Madoka.
Haven't heard of those.

Huh. I'm watching A Certain Magical Index and the spin-off series now, but I'll definitly check them out afterwards when I have the time. Thanks.

Haven't heard of those.
Selector Infected Wixoss is what happens when writers are told to make genderflipped Yu-Gi-Oh, but the writers wanted to make a Madoka ripoff instead. The result is a card game anime that barely focuses on the actual game, never explains the rules, and involves lots of suffering and corrupted wishes :V

If Madoka is like Evangelion, then Yuuki Yuuna is like RahXephon, it exists because Madoka exists but manages to not suck and to make itself different enough to not be a ripoff.

Also, for a magical girl series that is not at all lighthearted, but is absurdly silly, there's always Symphogear, which is about magical girl child soldiers fighting the Gnosis from Xenosaga using power armor that's created from shards of mythical relics when you sing :V
Everyone there has a really dark backstory and tons of people die. Its often described as either Nanoha + Macross or Precure + Gurren Lagann.

Yuuki Yuuna and Symphogear are available on Crunchyroll and Wixoss can be streamed on Funimation's site (if you're in the US).

The entire world was killed in pretty cure splash star once. Though it was fixed, I think that was the closes a baddy got to winning in that series.

-edit-

Symphogear is pretty good.

Symphogear is the kind of magical girl series that can get away with ripping off Rocky's training montage while having a (male) commanding officer sing the main theme of a series of Jackie Chan action movies :V

Anyway, I have the top five strongest Magical Girls all worked out right now.

Anyone have any expies they're really interesting in seeing at some point in this? I might be open to suggestions, though a few might be already taken and if I do accept any I wont be able to actually announce that I've added them in.

I'm also accepting omakes.

?
I'm intrigued. Please continue.
Their commanding officer resembles Akuma from Street Fighter, is a martial artist who can punch through walls of buildings, and trains by watching action movies and then imitating the moves until they work. His second in command is a ninja in a business suit who disguises himself as an idol singer's manager and can run on water and bind you from moving by using his pistol to shoot your shadow with a bullet that moves along a curved path. Yes, even the older male side characters get to be absurd badasses :V

Here's what happens early in season one when the Naive Newcomer main character visits the commanding officer's house to ask him to teach her how to fight (budget and art quality improve a ton after season one).

Lina Inverse is always fun, as is Vita Yagami.
How about Dark Magical Girl Medea? From Fate Stay Night?
If you count her yandere phase, that already exists.
Medea (Lily)

I found a really cute little Gif of her a bit ago actually. Had me daww'ing for about two hours afterwards ^^

An expy of Homura Akemi.
Hmmm. I could see her as a Dark MG, but her character is so focused around Madoka that I'd feel bad if I didn't add her in as another Expy.

Lina Inverse is always fun, as is Vita Yagami.
Lina would be fun yes. But most the silly would be brutally beat out of her in this and that would be depressing.

And the only Vita Yagami that comes to mind is the one from MGLN and that'd just be awesome.

We can always use more cute Madea. :V:V:V

Use evil Lina as an opponent whom Goddess Gold has to actually take seriously? A fight between two people who can accidentally destroy the world in an instant if they don't control their powers correctly is always interesting.

And yes, that's the only Vita Yagami I know of too :V

Him... maybe.

Illia Von Eisberg. And Emily Von Eisberg.

Yes, I mispelled those names horribly.

Emily is Shirou btw, who got stuck in Illia's body at the end of the third route. She becomes a mahou shojo thanks to ruby being a sadistic stick.

Huh. We could have Rin and Luvia from Fate be Magical girls too. I'm also thinking of Haruhi from TMOHS. She would LOVE IT here. Maybe Nunally or Euphi from Code Geass?

Definitely. Two individuals that both sides have agreed are only allowed to fight if they're on some unoccupied planet someone so they don't up and destroy something important? That'd be fucking hilarious.

Revya from Soul Nomad? Or Peacock from Skullgirls?
Not familiar with either of those, but from what I can find, they're kind of interesting. Might consider.

Heh, so much inherent abuse possible with that. Especially with the sheer number of possible variations with their characters.

I sense a story there...

She definitely would. Haven't seen much of the anime though despite wanting to. Will need to watch more if I do make an Expy.

Maybe Nunally or Euphi from Code Geass?
Sadly, I would need to give the Euphie a bad end on requirement because of her lovable nature and the source material. Nunally, would probably wind up watching her world get burned down around her repeatedly knowing her luck.

The trauma would fit, but I almost like the two characters too much to do that.
