I've referred to that in this now some what long on going debate, while several times noting several times that this is the French held belief on the matter. Just like how I've noted that this was certainly a double standard by them considering how they treated the locals.
Trying to push the matter as 'more pleasing to us' is a bit silly though. They got to do it their way and got beaten up for it.
Your argument here really seems to come down to, we should support any and all escalations with out any limit at all, no matter the consequences even nuclear annihilation if that is what it takes to free their people. Rather then what would typically be considered sane, that one sets limits to how far one would support some one. It would only be normal usually that one would think that one shouldn't get several other peoples destroyed to save one more, that doesn't really save anyone after all. Ruination is not saving after all.
So there is nothing subtly astonishing here, just that I won't follow a no limits fallacy policy idea on something and that I want to save as many people as possible. That out conclusions are different is probably just because along the way we have some different assumptions on how various things would actually turn out.
Tbh none of the rolls suggest to me nukes, if the 1 is for them than it would be probably really embarrassing more so than nukes.

Fighting with France over the matter of Algeria and trying to Coup NATO members are very different things mind you. For starters the latter would instantly escalate into a Nuclear Confrontation.

Tactical Nukes can be useful in warfare but their not a be all end all, and if we can't push in France for some reason, Italy and the Benelux are right there and in the American alliance, so if America joins and it isn't just the Soviets vs France we have a free Europe to eat
It's probably just the Soviets vs France though, and I see no issue marching in to wave the flag of the Commune over Paris once more

You actually going into France gets the sunshine out with no other notes, it'll be a quest over but the total population of Europe might exceed twenty million in the next century! But do not worry you have over five thousand nuclear shots ready to catch as many French and British nuclear assets on the ground as possible, so the retaliatory barages targeted towards primary areas of operations are likely to be under five thousand warheads.
It won't be a shooting war though it will be a nuclear one, if things go wrong we could expect to see a nuke flying over Moscow.
Also lets not extend ourselves to thin and bite off more than wr can chew.
