Though Tainted Skies

Through?

Naeron tell you that some of these lands are at leqst in part claimed by Mantarys though the hand of the city lies lightly indeed upon them.

Least

The tings spits waves of sickly yellow flame, but again and gain the furies weave away. Finally it manages to pin Mereth to the ground of a dry gull just as one of her sisters strikes the final blow.

Thing, again, gull's cry? What does a dry gull even sound like that makes it different from wet gulls?

I'll save @Duesal the trouble and ask, does feeding this corpse to the Fungal Forge unlock the potential to create Half-Dragons?

I thought that Duesal may think exactly the same thing.

What? Of course I have telepathy too. Why, I'm an aberration just like you!. Have you ever seen how do Waddle Dees eat?

(I feel like I'm only shitposting lately, but I'm having fun anyway)

The Larder is now updated to account for the Steel Devil we sacrificed for Valyrian Steel, and to add the new half-dragon thing to the corpse collection.

Also... Rakshasas are from the Shadow? @DragonParadox, so if we go to Asshai that city is actually their stronghold?

No way to be sure however Viserys suspects not. The Asshai'i notoriously despise things that come from the Shadow and if any city would be able to spot and stop an infiltration of fiends it would be Asshai.

Does the sudden interest in Asshai have any relation to @bigbow's take on it?

Slight spoilers, but Purple Days is just pure visceral with lovecraftian horror. I'm excited for DP's take on the City by the Shadow.

Just wondering but one of our plans if we gather too much faith is to channel it to someone of our pantheon correct? I was also wondering if we could use it like xp for the purposes of permanency spells.

There were some vague ideas of using sacrifices and converting their souls to pure XP for the purposes of XP-taxing spells.

Although I would love to explore the ruins of Valyria in depth, it's been pointed out to me that we can't really devote as much time to that as would be necessary to do the job correctly. That said, we've still got up to two weeks we can spend on this expedition before things start to get out of hand.

With that in mind, I propose that we establish a fortified base of operations in Valyria before we depart. It would need to be in one of the more habitable areas, unless we can take steps to render a chosen location more hospitable to human life (via specialized Heart Tree, perhaps).

Using a set of Titan's Tools, a large walled compound with a easily defended keep or tower could be constructed in a day of work. Kira and her Violin of Building can take care of the followup finish work. Some basic warding (Forbiddance and Hallow) would help secure the compound from hostile intruders. It would take quite a few trips using Teleport to staff the place, but we've got plenty of Companions who could help Viserys with that.

We could then base a party of B-team adventurers, a couple squads of Minotaurs, a detachment of elite Legion soldiers, a group of Scholarium mages who need some field experience, assorted Plant creations (Verdant Wolves, Giant Fungal Darkenbeasts, etc.), and a few of Erinyes to not only stake our claim to the continent, but to also explore the region more thoroughly. The Archons of Mantarys probably wouldn't mind stationing some of their people there either. It should be a great way to get experience for everyone stationed there.

Im really curious on that city, but I guess a little looting first could not hurt, let the magpies have their time :D

I disagree with this on several levels. A fortress for ourself is fine, but a Heart Tree in such a dangerous area with warped magic I'm very much against unless we manage to fix whatever is warping the magic.

As for XP, there are dozens of other things the baby adventurers could be focusing on that would get them just as much XP, things that would actively work towards the Imperium's stability rather than dungeon delving.

Why not?
Because despite my earlier assumption, there is some political stuff that needs to be taken care of in addition to the situation with Lys. The Riverlands and the Vale both need some attention, as things are starting to come to a boil there, there are allied Westerosi lords we need to stop neglecting, Westerosi lords we should probably try to recruit, and Myr is probably getting close to being ripe enough to pluck for ourselves. Braavos is going to be moving on Pentos soon, as well, and we'll need to be involved in that on some level.

I'm not saying all of that is going to happen next month, but I'm sure some of it will, and we can't afford to spend the whole month in Valyria. Two weeks should be plenty for our first trip.

I only mentioned the Heart Tree as a possibility, if we couldn't find a suitable location. If that isn't feasible, and no such location can be found, then that's that, and there is no need for further consideration. Or maybe we can establish a base on the edge of the more habitable zone? Just another possibility.

I disagree on the issue of XP, though. Yes, there are things baby adventurers can be doing to help the Imperium, but there are only so many of those going on at any given time and we've gathered quite a collection of low-to-mid level adventurers. Just because we have some of them stationed at a base in Valyria doesn't mean we won't have others out do different tasks entirely. Also, we don't want our baby adventurers to say babies forever. Having them do stints of service at the Valyrian base could let them level up a bit more quickly, thus making them that much more useful to us.

And we have Sothoryos, which can not only be just as dangerous as Valyria, but which we have an active interest in colonizing and keeping other people out of, and thus has a higher priority for sending baby adventurers to.

Another great place for us to establish a fortified base, something I mentioned a while back. Who says we can't have more than one? Or that there always needs to be a party of adventurers there, when we have so many other useful resources who can staff them?

Once we go on a fortification run, I also want to establish substantial forts controlling all four of the viable overland routes through the Bone Mountains from eastern Essos into Western Essos. That allows us to tax a great deal of trade that flows through them, but also further reinforces the idea that everything west of the Bone Mountains is part of the Imperium, even if everyone doesn't quite understand that just yet.

Do we have to solely use the baby adventures though? I did quite like Goldfish's idea of placing some of the Legion here.

B-team adventurers could operate out of the bases on occasion, but they would be primarily staffed by the Legion, with auxiliary support from heavy hitters such as our Minotaurs, and magical support from Scholarium graduates and other allied beings, such as the Erinyes and Leshy.

I am also for placing some wizards here too. Might be what they need to break the threshold from level 5 to the higher levels. Also we do have divination to see if we could even plant a weirwood here. This is a nice training ground for prospective mages.
