[X] Plan "Shadow of the Doompillow"
-[X] Once we are within approximately 200 feet, or as soon as any visible Erinyes seem to spot us, Lya uses the Blackened Rod to cast Quickened Flashburst so that it detonates amidst the Erinyes and affects everyone on the ground below, but not so close as to risk blinding anyone in our group. She then casts Greater Black Tentacles from her Spellstaff on the ground below, centered on where she believes Ser Kennos is located.
-[X] Tyene casts Fickle Winds on everyone, then uses Sunbeam, as we begin to descend down to engagement range. She waits to direct the first Sunbeam until we are within 60 feet of any still active Devils.
-[X] Dany casts a Chained Dimensional Anchor aimed to hit as many Erinyes as possible, or any other airborne Devils, just as Lya's Flashburst detonates, placing a priority on those unaffected by Shadow of the Doom.
-[X] Viserys casts Ancestral Awakening to learn the Merciful Spell Metamagic feat, then casts Arcane Spellsurge as we begin to descend to engagement range. As soon as Lya's Flashburst detonates, he casts a Merciful Shadow of the Doom spell, covering the area in which we believe Ser Kennos to be located, arranging the eighteen 20-foot SotD cubes to form an 80 foot long by 80 foot wide by 20 foot high square, then uses the remaining two 20-foot cubes to hit as many airborne Erinyes as possible.

The Forlorn Knight holds tight the key

So they sacrificed a Celestial for this.

I have no idea where they got the Celestial, but they managed it.

It having some kind of hellish enchantment at this point is basically a certainty.

House Corbray definitely isn't keeping this even if for some ungodly reason we let them survive. That sword will be ours.

I hate to be that guy but unless we want every devil running screaming from us I suggest we don't use the Sotd. Unless thats the plan, at which point have at it

Will there even be anything surviving if we drop SoTD? I doubt Merciful can stop the effects from the raised temperature bands

Those poor trees...

Wont the black tentacles and shadow of doom kill Ser Kenos?
The tentacles will only attack him if he has an Evil aura. If he does, the SotD will probably protect him anyway, as he'll likely be transformed to stone. And if it doesn't, and he dies, so what? We can Raise him to keep Thoros happy, if necessary.

It's hard to run screaming if you've been transformed into a statue or knocked unconscious from nonlethal damage.

Are these all the devils we would be fighting? Because if so then lets use the suitcase nuke.

Remember the first effect you have to save against from SotD is being Petrified. Only if you fail that are you subjected to any damage. And it will only be nonlethal damage. The increased temperature bands won't affect the Devils, who are immune to fire, and Kennos dying just means don't need to worry about collateral damage, since he can be Raised if necessary.

Isn't there a potential minor problem if Kennos the mortal signed a pact - paying with his soul? Would that impact the chances to resurrect him?

@Goldfish
SotD has a clause to avoid hitting chosen targets.
We should just exclude the knight.

We can't even see Kennos. It doesn't make any sense for Viserys to be able to exclude Kennos when we can't see him or say for sure where he is.

I actually think it's preferable if he is affected by SotD. He's almost certain to be Petrified, which is safer for him than remaining a squishy flesh bag during a fight with Devils.

... Alright, that's fair.
