@Duesal, can I count on you clearing list of minor actions, now that DP confirmed which have been done?
I'm not quite a valuable at the moment.

Sure, it really shouldn't be too much trouble. Most of this stuff doesn't deserve screentime, all we need is a sign from DP that they were accomplished.

The tritons thing, though, I want to do in person. Especially that sacrifice of the Daemon Dagger to the Merling King, and getting that Book of the Tides from them. I've been after that book for months.

@egoo Can you change the format of the info you provided about the minor actions?

All the X's make the Tallly think it's a plan.

The minor actions are going to happen, since we already voted on them in the turn plan.

Interlude CCXC: Where Serpents Lie
Where Serpents Lie

Twenty Sixth Day of the Fourth Month 293 AC

Of course it was going to turn out to be a swamp, Vee thought with an odd mingling of resignation and wistfulness that only one born to the marshlands could truly understand as she looked out over the vast pools of stagnant water that had gathered between the five jagged peaks the local tribes called the 'Beast's Claw.' Mist and light rain hung low over the area, trapped in the shadow of the hills even as the encouragingly-called 'Snake Tail River' meandered into mires and sinkholes filled with giant lizard lions, black-tentacled squid big enough to eat a man whole, or if you were really unlucky red ripper fish.

"So, we're gonna fly in there, right?" Maelor asked, trying to sound firm, but ending in a question just the same.

"The fog would mean we'd have to fly low enough for things on the ground to get at us, and we wouldn't be able to tell where the dry land is to land on," the old priest said. Vee still didn't like him that much, coiled round himself in a ball as he was, but the trip had taught her to trust his good sense, and the advice was just another mark in the tally as far as she was concerned.

So down they went afoot, Vee testing the ground before them carefully with a stick while the others kept a wary eye out around, and as ever above. That none of the lizard birds seemed to favor the bitter yeasty air of the swamps was both a welcome relief from their voices and a warning that something worse might lurk within.

More than once grasping vines covered in stinging leaves tried to drag them off the paths and into water or worse death mires, though the things didn't have any love of the fire Maelor could conjure. They also learned to keep away from the stilt trees after a tangle of vines, sticks, and weeds held together by some sort of magic tried to make a meal out of the sellsword from the Sunset Lands. Vee had learned a bunch of new curse words that time. She wondered if she could count that as progress towards learning the tongue.

"I found something!" Xor called excitedly from above where he had floated as a many-eyed sentinel. "Left at the log... er, at the lizard pretending to be a log. Just follow my voice."

It took some looking and a few sword blows to cut up the ropy vines that covered what seemed at first to be just another rock deposited and forgotten by the lazy currents. A rock it was indeed, but set there with a purpose, sharp as serpent's tooth rising from the land it was marked with the crude symbol of a snake coiling downwards into the earth: The sleeping stone, to mark the resting place of the honored dead, a voice not quite her own hissed into the girl's mind.

Continuing in the direction the stone pointed they began to spot ruins mottled green and brown like the beasts of the jungle, as though they too were hiding from hunters... or unwary prey. Why anyone would want to put a city here was beyond Vee, but then even after years of living in them the girl did not really understand all the reasoning and thought behind cities. Maybe the land had been different back then. After all, Yss was an old spirit, old enough that he had almost died from the weight of his own years.

"Hope the snakes we came all the way out here for aren't all dead," Maelor muttered under his breath.

"Well now, that depends on what snakes you are looking for doesn't it,"
a dry rasping voice, like the rustle of dry leaves called in all their minds.

If it weren't for her eyes being used to the jungle by now, Vee might have missed the lizard perched on a branch hanging over their path almost like a hand, which was some trick seeing as the thing had grey-and-burnt-orange scales. One of them spirit lizards the locals talked about for sure, the girl thought.

"Would you kindly point us to the dwelling places of the Scaled Ones, living Scaled Ones preferably," Malarys asked aloud, falling into his usual role of doing the talking.

"Wasn't expecting Him to send soft-skins. Wasn't expecting Him to be around at all much less awake," the thing mumbled as though to itself. Amber drop eyes measured each of them in turn, unsure what to make of their group. "Wasn't expecting the turnskin either," it hissed and for the first time it sounded angry, though not at them. "To reach the living you must pass through the halls of the dead, and they have been raised to wrath and ruin. Ready your grey-stone weapons, young ones, you will need them to see yourselves safe to the end..."

OOC: I broke off here in case you guys want to send reinforcements.

Now would be a perfect time for Viserys and crew to return Irony to Vee.
Irony was never taken from Vee's group in the first place. DP decided to use Naath as a temporary holding pen that we could use regular Teleports to get to, so there was no need for petrification.
For now, yes. DP had to go out, so he posted the chapter directly. It's edited, but the edits won't be uploaded until he's back.

@DragonParadox This is happening on the same day as the Dinosaur wrangling. Have Viserys and the others had a chance to recover their magic?

[X] Malarys uses a Sending Stone to contact Viserys, informing him that the expedition has possibly reached its goal, and that reinforcements may be necessary.
-[X] Viserys, Richard, Lya, Waymar, and Garin, along with Wyla if she is willing, Teleport to Malarys' location.
