Would using control winds to blow the miasma away allow for Richard to come close without suffering its effects?

It's a fine plan.

Darkbolt really is great. It's a good thing Garin has unusually high stats all around.

@Goldfish I would leave Garin to act after Viserys, same for Tyene.

Note he gets a Fort for half against the electricity damage.

I doubt it's an effect that can be blown away that simply.

@Goldfish, for Waymar wouldn't it be better if he declared his attack to be Born of Three Thunders? To my knowledge it has to be explicitly defined beforehand, and that's a bunch of sonic damage added on top of the lightning damage. Added to that, at level 8 of Hero of the First Age Waymar can use that feat without being dazed.

There's also that nice effect of knocking any stunned creatures fully prone.
When you cast a spell with either the electricity descriptor or the sonic descriptor that deals hit point damage, you can declare that spell to be a spell of the three thunders, with half its damage dealt as electricity damage and half dealt as sonic damage. In addition, the spell concludes with a mighty thunderclap that stuns all creatures that take damage from the spell for 1 round unless they succeed on a Fortitude save, then knocks stunned creatures prone unless they succeed on a Reflex save (both saves at the same DC as the base spell). Channeling the three thunders is costly, though, and you are automatically dazed for 1 round after doing so. A three thunders spell uses a spell slot of the spell's normal level. In addition, its descriptor changes to include both energy types--for example, a lightning bolt of the three thunders is an evocation [electricity, sonic] spell.

It doesn't add damage, it splits the lighting damage into half lighting, half sonic.

But yes, good thinking.

mmh, a male favored of Lolth? That seems wierd.

But we can probably expect the nastiest poisons here ..and he talks very confident.

@TalonofAnthrax, if that is true, we are going to be sooo salty...

We have to feed it to Yss, one way or another.

I'd like to mindrape this guy for all information we can get on the Spider Goddess. We need him alive for that.

I like my evil gods more complex than WotC way back when they first made Lolth. She is the Goddess of drow, darkness and treachery not 'evil female dominatrix' writ large. Lolth's great sin is egotism, hence why she favors female drow more than male as they reflect on her nature more, but she is a spider as much as an elf so spider demons are acceptable representatives even if they are male.

Anyway, vote closed.

  • [X] Plan SPLAT!
-[X] Lya cancels her Heightened Awareness spell to gain a +4 bonus to Initiative, then casts Greater Black Tentacles from her Spellstaff so that not only the area the Demon occupies is affected, but our position as well. Potential Damage (4d6+13 + Grappled)
-[X] Waymar uses his Earring to gain True Seeing, then targets the Demon with his Whirling Blade while Channeling a Lightning Lance spell through it. Potential Damage (39d6 + 1d10 + 2d6 + 11)
-[X] Garin uses his Earring to gain True Seeing, then targets the Demon with Dark Bolt, directing all five bolts to attack simultaneously. Potential Damage (10d8 + Daze effect)
-[X] Tyene casts a Quickened Boneshaker spell, then targets the Demon with Chains of Light. Potential Damage (9d6 + Paralysis & Binding)
-[X] Viserys casts Nerveskitter, then uses Maximized, Searing, Agonizing Blinding Fire Breath. Potential Damage (110 + Shaken & Blinded)
-[X] Richard activates his armor's Holy Aura and uses his Earring to gain True Seeing.

I left off Born of Three Thunders because I didn't think he could apply a Metamagic feat to a Channeled spell. Am I wrong, TNE?

DP, it's not that a big deal, but I made some minor adjustments to the plan that dealt with the order of attacks.

I didn't see the suggestion until right before you closed the vote because I was out with the puppy!

Viserys
Level: 15 (114259/120000 XP)
Lya
Level: 14 (96557/105000 XP)
OOC: I considered moving past this, but some of the choices require significant spell expenditure on your part, possibility as much as a wish to mimic commune with the afferent XP cost. Speaking of XP I'm handing out 600 to Vierys and Lya for passing some pretty hard skill checks, also I'm tempted to hand those 5000 XP for visiting Sothoryos to Lya since she needs it more. Any objections?

Viserys: Level: 15 (114259/120000 XP) + 600 XP --> (114859/120000 XP)

Lya: Level: 14 (96557/105000 XP) + 600 XP --> (97157/105000 XP)

Probably a female Demon with a deep voice? She has been trapped in that box for thousands of years, her throat is probably dry.

So I just got back to this quest after lurking here for years. The thing is I stopped tracking this right about when Viserys went full dragon for the first time. There's over 2000 threadmarks now. Does anybody know roughly when it was?

That's fine I did not start writing yet. What adjustments do you want?

I stuck it into the plan, you can see it if you update the Tally. It was just to make sure Tyene and Garin attack after Viserys uses his breath weapon.

I would have also included Waymar using his Born of Three Thunders feat, but I wasn't sure if you would let him cast Whirling Blade and Channel a Metamagic augmented Lightning Lance.

Ah I figured it more like "female spiders tend to eat their mates" ..guy's looking more and more impressive.
