elephant-sized painted lizard
Is "painted lizard" the catch-all term for dinosaur?

I thought it was specific of the fleshraker.
and one painted lizard confused at being suddenly shrunk into the admittedly not that unfamiliar form of a turtle head for home.
Oh my god, it's BLOODFEAST!
After all, what is the wickedness of merely mortal beings to that of fiends that stood at the basis of her understanding of the soul?
Spoken as someone who doesn't know Drow culture.
Description: Grown of Ironwood, dipped into the heart of a guardian spirit poisoned with an age's hopelessness, this dagger cuts more than flesh, rending the very animus of its victim and offering it up to its wielder to sup upon should he or she have the stomach for it.

Ability: +1 Greater Vampiric Ironwood Dagger

Special: This dagger inflicts one negative level on any good wielder that would take it up. This level does not cause level drain, but not can it be healed by any means save renouncing the dagger at which point the level is restored instantly.
What an ironic dagger. Made of wood with a vampiric enchantment.

This is ideal for Garin, as he stuns himself if he tries to heal through normal means. Let's swap his thinblade for this, as the VS dagger is plenty good.

Also for anyone who feels this might be a bit too much treasure for the encounters in Sothoryos... well you used a living god to bypass a dangerous journey or even more dangerous mortal teleport into wild magic
Honestly, I'm a bit underwhelmed.

Ghost-Touch on armour is very overpriced, it's a +1 mithral shirt that works against ghosts, but technically a +5 armour.

Dagger is nice, both in fluff and abilities. Perfect for Garin.

Cloak would be great without the flaw. With it, it's still great, if only for Garin.

Staff, well, we will see.

Wait, what? How? It's not like he's stuck with Tomb-Touched.

He gets healing from both negative and positive energy, but each time stuns him for a round. It's actually a major weakness in some ways.

That said, unless the vampiric dagger has some advantages over a thinblade, I really don't think that it will be that useful compared to normal post combat healing.

Thing is Greater Vampiric heals half the damage he deals.

And Garin deals a fuckton of damage.

Can we at least do the staff then? Again, it is a 40 minute cast time maximum. Surely at some point we will have a spell slot available. Honestly, I'd like to do the chest too. If we have the ability to cheaply identify/learn the histories of objects, we should use it. Especially since it will let us use time for more productive things.

The staff hid its nature from the arcane resonance ritual. I doubt legend lore is going to solve the problem, thought it might give contextual information.

Maybe if we threaten it with Yss or the OG, it'll spill some of its secrets.

Holy shit twilight enchantment? It's like Christmas came earlier!

We can equip pretty much every arcane caster with Twilight Mithral Chain +1 for an extra +5 Armor AC and we can later upgrade it for even better protection and special qualities!

Doesn't stack with the Mage Armor spell, though, so it's a marginal upgrade that isn't really worth the expense for most non-party members.

Ah yes, the ol' intimidate the sentient weapon trick.
Well, the minotaurs do need a new plunger, the last one finally gave up after a night of spicy chicken curry.

That ritual duplicates a 1st level Identify spell. Legend Lore is a 7th level Divination spell, which is a whole other beast.

It should learn something for sure.

Contextual information is still very valuable when studying something, and would probably reduce the time required. The staff almost certainly qualifies as legendary, considering it was carried by someone who had cl 15 armor. (level 11 and up qualifies according to the spell) it can give us contextual information about where we found it, etc. Besides, legend lore isn't an identification spell, and thus would not be fooled by the magic aura effect the staff seems to be running.

Also, can anyone else do the ritual of identify? The staff seems to have a magic aura effect running, and that should allow a save. From the text it certainly seems like Lya failed hers, rather than the spell failing like it would on an artifact.

Edit:
Also, do we have the lens for analyze dweomer? Even if @DragonParadox is nerfing Identify and restricting what it can work on, that spell should still work.

There is no reason for us not to do this ic. We have the time, we have the spellslots, and I utterly despise having to take study actions on our loot.

It is made for party members, and it can have all the special properties in it alongside the armor bonus. It is literally THE enchantment for armor regarding arcane casters.

Name: Vee

Level: 13 (79429/91000 XP)
Name: Maelor

Level: 11 (59149/66000 XP)
Name: Xor
Level: 10 (52249/55000 XP)
Vee 650 XP
Maelor 1100 XP
Xor 1333 XP
Okay, so here's where we're at:

Vee --> Level: 13 (79429/91000 XP) + 650 XP = Level: 13 (80079/91000 XP)

Maelor --> Level: 11 (59149/66000 XP) + 1100 XP = Level: 11 (60249/66000 XP)

Xor --> Level: 10 (52249/55000 XP) + 1333 XP = Level: 10 (53582/55000 XP)

I don't know about anyone else, but Xor is absolutely going to level up by the end of this fetch quest.

@Goldfish When you organize Xor's levelup vote, don't forget to make sure his Spells Known are right. His sheet's been pretty neglected in general, I think.

I finally came around to cleaning up Research Actions list.
For a given definition of "cleaning", but still...
RESEARCH ACTIONS:
Active:
-[X] Lich's library
-[X] Son of Fairwinds
-[X] False man of Sallosh
-[X] Research into ways of modifying Lya's Dedicated Wights for further utility. Duesal's ideas.
-[X] Asshai'i Shadow Silk (Arcana or Planes).
-[X] Lich's Potions (Alchemy or Poison Making)
-[X] Cursed Athame (Arcana Religion or Planes).
-[X] Blood Chest (Dungeoneering).
-[X] Black Tablets made of Dragonscale (Planes or Religion).

Inactive:
[] Research the staff found in Sothoryos
[] Try to find a way to remove the fllaw from Vestment of Ebonsilk

[] Valyrian Steel (how to make, how to reforge; use Lich's notes and scull)
-[] Update: DP straight up told us what we have would be enough to learn all we want, if lengthy.

[] Ice Heart
-[] The nature of it's connection to Others, if said connection can be subverted, if they'd be able to act through this connection (and how) when the artifact goes active.
-[] The possibility of ensnaring the power of the artifact to power *insert_project_here* (with Energy Transforamation Field).

[] Glided Devil's Treasure (Cursed AF, probably good Tree-fertilisers).

[] Science needed for antigrav engine. Refer to Azel for details.

[] Modifying the familiar-binding ritual to allow for classes that don't usually get familiars.

[] Researching the ritual that Alysande used with Silver Eye trinket to gain acess to magic.

[] AoE Soul-entraping contraption (use Amrelath's book on creation of phylacteries for bonus, use Lich's scull for further necromancy lore).
Likely requires:
-[] Scythe Research (attempt to fit the effect of soul-reaping into Dark Sister, also understand the effect).
-[] Soul-catching Nets Research (how to entrap free-roaming souls, Devil Edition).
--[] NOTE: there also was that neat soul-catching metal to look for in PoE.

[] Research into nature of Shadow Plane and finding a way to expand the Shadow Tower's demiplane.

[] Research a way to get a Hydra a fiendish/celestial/elemental template

[] Research a spell

[] Research the Fey rituals traded with Silver Eye
-[] Spell Resistance-granting ritual specifically, try to make it posssible to use not as part as SE-Agent PRC.

[] Advanced Wards (will need Bloodraven's transcribed First Men's lore on wards)
-[] For our (at the moment unbuilt) keep,
-[] For Shadow Tower,
-[] For Inquisition/Government structures.

[] Research into making rituals to be used by out subjects.

[] Better ways to train mages:
-[] Hail to Glory Most Ancient: Dany tells you she can try to teach others who bear the Dragon-blood to call on the glory and might of those Most Ancient... save one. It would be perilous for mind and spirit both, but great too would be the reward.
-[] Viserys action for Sorcerers
-[] Velen and Xor for Bards,
-[] Lya/Naria/Teana for Wizards/Archivists,
-[] Naria/Lotus Leshi for Druids (non-OG-aligned),
-[] Garin/Glyra for rogues and stuff.

[] Further research into Memory-Moss (anti-Illithid weapon?).

[] Lys Mossforge research (more templates, more creatures, more efficiency).

[] CotF/Minotaurs repopulation research (we have talked CotF into trying weird stuff, but we haven't made even first steps into actually doing anything).

[] Library stuff:
-[] Bronze Book of the Warg Kings (?).
-[] Iron-Bound Tome (we should fucking read it already).
-[] The Golden Egg (the stuff is likely just heavily cyphered, will probably be "the source of lore" needed, as per DP'd ruling on first pages of quest, to make Alchemists).
-[] Spellbooks we have captured but never went through.

[] Elysium Fruit experiments:
-[] Feeding them to outsiders, making cousine to sell later at higher price to Opaline Vault, etc.
-[] Putting one through a Flask of Crimson Life, for shit and giggles.

[] Further research The Wall (We'll need a lot of buffs for willsaves here).

[] Various assorted artifacts:
-[] Flask of Crimson Life
--[] If there are any, any aftereffects of use/making/storing potions with it, whatsoever.
-[] Anti-Human sacrificial dagger of... erm... that girl from Lys. It's probably something important, if severely depowered.
-[] Dark Sun Dagger (kind of scary stuff. Still, we probably should try to learn more about it).
-[] 2 Broken Rune Guardians.
-[] Minotaur Chains (Arcana).
-[] Star Seeker's Anchor (Arcana).

[] "Strange Shadow" captured during fighting TIamat Cleric that was since then kept in Smoke Confinement.

[] Valyrian Wingship Plans completion (near-epic/epic levels task. Still doable with Naria's bonuses and time).

[] Grafts-making (researching Devilish grafts for a way to make our own, not tainted with conceptual fuckmothering).

[] Corpse Cage
-[] It's principles of work and if it's possible to replicate it with a different designated sort of recipient in mind. Also making more of it.

[] Deep Ones History (we have a book and someone who can make epic-level relevant rolls in Knowledge (Planes). We totally should learn everything we can about them In-character).
