Hey.
A wayside idea...
Which, again, comes when I should by all right sbe sleeping.
ugh.

So, the law codex of the Opaline Vault is huge.
Not as huge as Lex imperialis, perhaps, but still huge.

I'm pretty sure that Outsiders that have perfect knowledge of it are far and few between. Law-upholding forcs aside, of course.

And we have Pen Dragons.
Who have perfect memory of all they read.
And we asked to give us a full compilation of Shaitan laws next time we visit PoE.

...I think we might, just might, use Pen Dragons to utterly dominate Opaline Vault's markets.
Or, well, get ourselves some very neat discounts if we resolve to thinking realistically.

i mean... Just how many people there would be making small, little mistakes, we can point out during bartering?

We totally should supply those to all people we send to trade there later.

@Goldfish, this is preemptive to the extreme, but next turn I would like:

at least one more Wayfinder, preferably two more
Dany's Artifact Armor crafted from Tiamat's Aspect
Ser Richard's Dragonscale Cloak (his flight option) crafted from Tiamat's Aspect

Planeshift to plane of dust :)

Edit @Goldfish you mentioned two/three spells for Lya from scrolls and two/three from party members. Do you have any spells from party members in mind so we can mark those that have the spell in question as teaching soonish?

Preferably, the first one picked is a super useful level 6 divine spell, so additional flexibility on that spell level.

Edit: I vee still working on the tree?

I'll add them to the schedule if necessary, but the absolute essentials are Heal, Chains of Light, and Banishment from party members. Heal because it is awesome, Chains of Light because it's Reflex based, which Lya needs, paralyzes a Target and Dimensionally Anchors them, and Banishment because we are starting to run into more and more high powered Outsiders.

I'll probably come up with more when I'm at home and have time to think.

It's easy to say no to us.

Slightly more difficult to make it stick.

I recommend learning how to say no while simultaneously meaning yes.

Works like a charm. Just make "yes" contingent upon some standard you hopefully never see met, then of course be disappointed pleasant surprised when it is.

...and try not to look like you just sucked on a lemon.

In Ashes Writ

First Day of the Fourth Month 293 AC

Never had a pile of ash been better protected,
Malarys thought as he watched the girl carefully remove the lead-lined steel urn careful from its resting place. Not for the first time he wondered if she realized what she was doing, if she was even aware that it was in any way odd. The ritual she meant to perform, the one her aspect had created, was not a wholly novel one. He could recall something of the sort being used once in his youth when a lordling had been unwise enough to burn incriminating documents in common flame. It was not this one arcane tool that had the power to impress him, but the sheer swiftness of it all, a headlong rush over, under, and through any obstacle that might present itself. Many had been the time when he had almost opened his mouth to counsel caution only to bite his tongue.

This was not his world, the thought was as bitterly true as it had been months ago when he had felt rain on his cheek for the first time after his long slumber. Ancient hungers stirred while fools were all too willing to spill the world entire into those gaping maws, and only children there were to guard a world that had seemingly almost forgotten itself. Some nights he still woke in a cold sweat thinking of what was out there. There was a reason after all why he had chosen to see the Crimson Code upheld rather than stride forth upon the field of war, but just as these children of a new age boldly carrying their torches into the dark Malarys Vanor had no choice. This may not be his world, but it could be one day assuming it would stay unbroken long enough.

The mage priest waited quietly through the ritual, leaning against the wall of the chamber as he consigned all the motions and words to memory. One never worked ritual magic the same way twice, of course, but that did not mean that there was nothing to learn from seeing it performed as opposed to merely reading the instructions on dead parchment. The Lawmen could put it to good use, and perhaps now that there finally were more than a handful mages in the whole realm he could begin to weigh which of them were a good fit for routine investigative work. The day he could honestly claim the institution he lead was more reliant on him for guidance than magic would be one to treasure.

As the papers sprang from the center of the ritual circle in a mad flurry burning in reverse, the minor elemental servants Malarys had already summoned helped gather them into some semblance of order.

"You knew that would happen?" the younger mage asked.

"I thought it a possibility," Malarys replied sincerely. "The foundation of all magic is chaos, after all."

She looked at him in askance. "I would have thought you would say that order prevails."

"Order must prevail if sorcery is to be more than a mad fancy twisting the world this way and that, but such is the duty of the mage," the sorcerer lord replied.

Thankfully the documents recovered were not enciphered, likely why they had been burned to begin with. They spoke of various business ventures across Essos and Westeros funneling funds into the cause of lllyrio Mopatis and these exiles who had taken their name from a sword like savage tribesmen who knew no law save blood. Most of the intelligence was likely unactionable after all this time, but a handful of hints in disparate reports lead to an interesting conclusion.

This Blackfyre conspiracy had considerable support in the Sunset Kingdoms, enough to blind or subvert many of Baratheon's agents in the east as well as move unhindered through his lands, not only listening but preparing the field for a campaign of whispers when the time was right... Of course, given the state of the true heirs of the Kingdom, Malarys doubted it ever would be, but these conspirators would provide such a convenient target to distract Baratheon's clients and servants.

OOC: Rina's Book in a later interlude. It simply would not fit here. To summarize what you learned from the above: the names of quite a few magisters who bankrolled or at least have friendly relations with Illyrio, the names and identities of quite a few agents in Essos and Westeros, as well as the suspicion that someone high up in the Westerosi intelligence apparatus is in on the Blackfyre conspiracy.

All of your interludes are great, but those focused on Malarys are among the best.

If no one else is compiling the turn plan, I'll take a crack at it when I get home. Can someone link me the agreed on actions thus far?

Mmmm. Oh yeah I did forget something.

Wildfire wildfire wildfire wildfire wildfire wildfire wildfire!

Seriously. I fucking swear. That's going to go up in Kings landing, and we are gonna get blamed for it.

@Goldfish, I'd been fiddling with a proposal for the turn plan earlier this week when it became clear we'd be short one player for planning this turn. I've copied what I managed to get so far into the Accounting Sheet. It's there to do with as you please.

Make sure that Lya sets aside time to learn those spells, that Viserys is there for at least the first day of Sothoryos, that Viserys handles the magistrates of Tyrosh so we don't get more problems with indentured servitude, etc.

Flames of the East: Zherys is getting worryingly close to consolidating his power in Volantis. Perhaps you should sow some discord behind the Black Walls, or else aid him if you can come to an understanding
Time needed: Player choice
Characters needed: Viserys, Garin, Malarys, Maelor or Glyra
(Azel thinks all characters mentioned, alongside Roaming Chaos are needed on this, for a week. There is a near-unanimous agreement on this)

[] Children of the Serpent: The priesthood of Yss requests that the "lost ones" be sought and located in Sothorys. As Yss himsef said, his children are "nearly so" gone. Perhaps you might bring back another legend into the world, as you did with the Children of the Forest.

Time needed: ???
Characters needed: Vee
Vee leads an expedition into Sothoryos after being taken there by Viserys and him grabbing a lot of sacrifices with Irony in his iron grip.

[] Plane of Air
Somewhat long expedition with a lot of economic stuff that is sure to shatter a lot of foundations on PoB. Also us visiting therplanar market.

[] A call into the Ether: Have to call otherworldly beings as servants, allies, or sources of information. With a better understanding of the tower's wards, the process will not be near as time-consuming. With the Scholarum likely to expand enormously you will likely need new teachers to keep up with the flow of students even with Velen pledging himself and some of his fellows to the task.
-[] Write in
Time needed: 1 Day/Summoning
Character needed: Daenerys or Malarys

[] A Binding and a Breaking: You might also call creatures of a darker sort aiming to spill their accursed blood onto the roots of the weirwood trees.
-[] Write in
Time needed: 1 Day/Summoning
Character needed: Daenerys or Malarys
I think all agree on it having a need to be done, but no concrete ideas on when/whom to do this yet. We need at least 4-5 phoenixes out of first and 3 thanadaemons we knows names of (and other demons/devils/daemons we have a beef with) out of these.

[] Seed of Life: for more than a year you have held the seed of a Dryad's tree the life within it still slumbering
-[] Path of the Waves: Dany's proposal to use the seed to awaken the Queen Rhaella, empowering it. To give birth to a new being, a fey of the Sky and Sea.
-[] Path of the Gods: Alternatively you could plant the Dryad's seed to stand sentinel over the Ancient Tree once it has been restored to life
-[] Path of the Singers: Lastly you could simply plant it near the village the Children of the Forest have raised to be an ally and protector for them

Time needed: 8-10 days or FREE if the third path is chosen
Character needed Viserys, Waymar, Xor, or Vee
We need to vote on what to do woth this and DP didn't allow for a vote to be done outside the regular votecrafting, so for that time needs to be set aside during month.

[] The False Man of Sallosh: You have slain a being in human guise, but not. Made of iron, wood, and stone instead of flesh, it served the Cheesemonger, but what other secrets does it have? It did express a desire to cooperate should you return it back to life.

Time needed: 2-3 Days
Characters needed: Daenerys, Malarys, or Vee
We need to finish that up, methinks. Malarys already put 3 days into this last turn.
[] Righting what was set Askew Part II: Having gained an understanding and control of the leavers of powers within Tyrosh itself, it is time to move beyond the walls of the city where the great plantations lie, many of their masters no doubt deluded that life will continue little differently under your rule, their newly freed slaves having little choice but to work as they always have least they starve. You aim to dissuade them of the notion... forcefully, if necessary.

Time needed: 12 Days
Characters needed: Viserys, Malarys, Garin
Pretty important.

Also please put dealing with Tor somewhere in the beginning of a turn, at least a day.
And try to fit in questioning Lore Devil before starting summoning stuff to later sacrifice.

EDIT: Duesal-d. Fuck.

A Sword Without a Hilt: A Song of Ice and Fire/D&D 3.5 Crossover | Page 8208 @DragonParadox are Duesal's ideas here viable/usable? I think I'd like to try and have it as Lya's first study action, (maybe after she learns one cleric 6 spell)

Oh, I expect the devil's have divined "where is there more wildfire we can use" a long time ago. KL is probably a big trap ready to go off, all those people, and if one can grab the dragon king and a few of his companions in the blast as further scarafice fodder... Well. That'd be an opportunity worth waiting for.

After a bunch of false starts I realized it would be redundant to have another Rina interlude just for the book when we just heard form her. It's not like she had the time for more character development.

So I'm just going to update the library let the character PoVs move at their own pace.

Journals of the Betrayed
Journals of the Betrayed

Description:
Written in the elegant hand of a calligraphy wyrm this set of journals nonetheless seems outright drab at first sight, plain brown covers marked by nothing but a number indicating where they should lie among the library of Dragon's Roost. One could not guess to look at them that within these pages lies a history of war madness and treachery written by one most dreadfully betrayed, now turning her own hand against the enemies of life.

Content: +5 to all knowledge rolls relating to the Others, their magic and their interactions with mortals, A reader who studies all the volumes for one week and makes a DC 12 Intelrigence or Wisdom check at the end gains a permanent +1 to saves against cold spells and necromancy, increased to +2 against the magic of the Winter-touched specifically.

Holy Glorious Fuckmothering Emperor's Burning Warp-Shit.
We are printing the fuck out of this and sending out everywhere we can.

...Suck it Lannisters. Your books have nothing on this.

Does that also have the rough order of events? I admit I haven't been paying much attention to what sequence y'all want stuff to happen.

Holy shit. Soon Viserys needs to read this. Everyone needs to read it.
Does that also have the rough order of events? I admit I haven't been paying much attention to what sequence y'all want stuff to happen.
It's embarrassingly barren, I didn't get much chance to work on it, but I figured it was better than nothing. I also wasn't anticipating everyone else being busy.

@Duesal, I assume that Sothoryos is pushed to the end of the month so that Viserys is on-call for emergncies and not on the other plane?

@DragonParadox, can we get Rohar's writings the same way as Rina's, then?
It seems like we are not going to deal with anything devil/demon/daemon-related for a while :/

I don't get why wildfire went from being a problem to now being actively mocked and viewed with humor.

Did something change while I wasn't looking?

Edit: fuck my phone keyboard.

[] Incomplete plans for the creation of a wingship,
[] Row upon row of dreadful experiments beside which the slaver's lash seems a gentle caress, and the most excruciating torment that can be inflicted upon the flesh seems a mercy—the secrets of a flayed soul.
[] A list of very precise densities given for various elements
Damn, it looks good.

@DragonParadox action idea: sit down with your officers and see what adjustments need to be made with regard to the legion, what went right and what went wrong in the battle, and then give a speech praising the fallen and those that still stand. Also pay the sells words their promised bonuses. People were actually quite good about not setting fires. Good work sellswords! Should have Viserys and a few party members with the skills, perspective or good sense (read: Vee)

If we had enough, I'd like to give each legionnaire a drink of Dawn...wine? Ale? To toast, but possibly not viable
