@DragonParadox Here's what I have for Hermetia's character sheet. It's built as if my current plan won for her. All 0, 1st, and 2nd level Beguiler spells have been added to her list of spells known.

Also, considering her wealth, it would be nice if she could come pre-equipped with some minor gear. A +1 Constitution item, +2 Charisma item, Healing Belt, and Ring of Sustenance would help her a lot.

She is certainly willing too pay for all that but you guys have been keeping Lya remarkably busy, so the healing belt and ability items are the only ones she can reasonably get.

It's only 5000 IM left of repayment, but I do see your point. Probably best to wait until we see what our cashflow looks like post-Tyrosh.
We are paying it back according to the plan, it's an investment not a loan, she's getting a share of the profit, paying it back at once would just be weird, the whole point of an investment is that the company get to use your money, in return for you getting a share of the profit.

Hermetia's been around for quite a while. My point was that at some point in that time when Leila wasn't busy (before the last two months) she could have conceivably commissioned something.

Right. Which would be the healing belt and ability items DP just mentioned? Leila is fairly constrained by her low CL in terms of what items she can make.

It really is a shame Leila's capped at level 5. :(

In the meantime Tiamat's got five wizards of the fourth-circle running around crafting items for her clerics and dragons.

And Lya's probably still a better crafter than them all put together :D
In any case, that's just more eventual loot for us!
Yeah, there's that. Nobody else can match Lya. But there's still something to be said for the brute force of mass-production.

Good point on the loot, though. I'm looking forward to getting those wyrmlings and the enhanced drakes.

By the way, I know people want to simply sacrifice the Driftwood Crown, but it's way too awesome.
the Driftwood Crown is an artifact that allows one to use Control Weather as a level 14 Druid
A CL 14 Control Weather artifact. I'd much rather just have the Merling King subvert it to be his own artifact.

If not Sothoryos, can't we just go hunting elsewhere for a bunch of other sacrifices? We have the area around Lamentation and Mantarys (especially around Mantarys seeing how close it is to Valyria), we have the Basilisk Isles, we have the Braavosi swamps, we have Beyond the Wall, etc.

This is just too good of a magic item to destroy. :(

EDIT: Shit, since it uses druid magic we could probably get the Old Gods to repurpose it for themselves as well.

1. It can only be used by a Greyjoy and deals wisdom damage.
2. We only managed to wrest it's control once, with Tiamat's help. Grandma has touched it already.
3. It's an artifact by an avowed enemy of not only by us but also the Merling King. Let's just make our own, or ask the Old Gods for something similar (Hammer of the Waters Lite, get!)

Let's just sacrifice it and get some nicer things.

Part MDCCCXI: Herald of Light
Herald of Light

Twenty-First Day of the First Month 293 AC

Soonest begun soonest done, you decide. It is not as though the Singers will meaningfully change anytime soon. Therein lies part of the problem of their race in fact, you suspect. The answer you will get now is the same one you will get twenty years form now. So you lay out your plans and the reasons for it plainly and without artifice, though attempting not to seem 'hasty' either, a dichotomy which tests your skill with words rather sorely.

"Men have always envied us our years," Soft Strider says worriedly. "To take that wish and make it true that we may save ourselves lies heavily upon my mind, still more to take among ourselves ones who had never heard the song... yet." For a long moment she is quiet, setting her mind in order you suspect. "You and yours have accepted us in your company, you have made grand offerings to the gods and even this strange plan, which would not be without cost to yourself you offer freely. It would be foolish to reject it out of hand and just as much to accept without thought. I will consult with the others, and if even one of us judges that they might come to care for one of your kindred thus then the attempt should be made."

Looking into the clear golden eyes you recall a tale, no less than a rumor of a tale you heard as a child. "They say the Marsh Kings had blood of the Singers in their veins. Is there any truth to that?"

"Perhaps," Soft Strider shrugs, even that simple gesture carrying a sort of boneless grace. "Who is to know what could be done when the world was young and the Song flowed strong over wood and stream?"

With that you part ways, the Singer to return to her kin with news and yourself to return to the business of rule, for a few hours at least. Or so at least you had expected.

***

There is an angel in your study... technically a celestial being, born of the strictures of law as much as unvarnished virtue, a creature wrought of gleaming gold and steady emerald light. It moves about with otherworldly grace making nary a sound as it moves through the chamber light as a snowflake on the wind yet filled with unerring purpose.

You imagine that for most that would have elicited a stronger emotion than surprise mixed with a touch of weariness at possible calls on your time and attention. "What news from Mantarys?" you ask the messenger of grace, though not before looking upon it with eyes that see true, just in case all is not what it seems.

"Hail, prince of men. I offer greetings and words of fellowship renewed," the bright spirit answers, its voice a pleasant chime that somehow conveyed solemnity and excitement all at once. "Know that this is a bright day for my kindred can at least look beyond the walls of Mantarys, for they are strong and able to withstand the foes that surround us. In the Name of Yrael who speaks with the concordance of all in War and Peace, we ask for trade of things material and spiritual that the lives of all may be made better."

"What are you proposing?" you ask, settling in your seat as surprise gives way to satisfaction. You are certainly not used to being in this position when it comes to trade, though you could grow to like it.

"An exchange of students first and foremost, that some from your lands come forth and receive the illumination of the spirit, while an equal number of the those under our protection enter your halls of learning to study as befits the power calling in their blood, whether that power be of ancient wyrms, or even the touch of the Enemy, the fruits of evil might be turned to good rather than being allowed to fester into true corruption," comes the swift reply. "Secondly we wish to trade in lore and treasures of lost ages among ourselves, that we may be warned of peril and that we are able to carry out our battles as well and as swiftly as can be done."

What do you answer?

[] Accept (set up sorcerer exchange program with Mantarys and agree to share information on potential threats)

[] Counter-offer
-[] Write in

[] Refuse

OOC: You can obviously ask the messenger for news of Mantarys if you wish, too.

I still think the crown would be perfect to inflict a species-wide curse on the Deep ones, but i Will be Happy if the Merling King can simply convert It into his own artifact.

We should ask about that happened in ... Bhorash was It? There was a "Q" in there somewhere, Bhorqash? The fight between the archons and the golden company.

Well, here's the proactive Good. If nothing else, Yrael is a lot less of a procrastinator than Doran and his terms are exactly what the thread has been judging the Archons for not offering (and not without cause).

And as Tomcost just said, it's not derailing anything! Bonus!

Truly, it is the forces of heaven from whence miracles stem. :V

The Old Gods subverting it would intrinsically change it. The Greyjoy-only thing would probably vanish for obvious reasons. Tiamat's influence (what little there is) would be gone. As for the third point, why spend Lya time making it (LOTS of Lya time) when we can sacrifice to have subvert an artifact we already have? This would probably transform it into a Hammer of the Waters type artifact.

Might as well tell you since Viserys can now ask IC: the reason they did not offer it so far is because they had a rather serious demonic cult problem which they did not wish to risk exporting

:( It's a damn shame we couldn't send some of our baby PCs over there. That would have been some nice XP.

@DragonParadox, I hope they're including a choice menu of encounters for our baby PCs if they're asking for an exchange program. Learning spells is all well and good, but it's pointless if they lose months of time stagnating with no fights.

They could have asked for the Dragon Inquisition. We are always looking for sacrifices.

Anyway, I have a fairly important IC question: How on Planetos did they manage to summon more Archons?
