[X] Goldfish
Eh. I hope we're not going to fail this stealth mission.
Stealth missions are the worst.
I mean, when stuff goes awry in the midst of a battle we at least get a chance to turn tables with quick thinking and save-or-sucks thrown in general direction of enemies.
When being sneaky-sneaky? If our cover gets blown, we won't even get a shot at any of our targets, they'll just run off.
I'm seriously considering skipping next few updates until I see a great amount of joyous commentaries indicating us fucking Illyrio and battlecleric (and whatever else is here) over.
...I might be getting too invested in dealing with Illyrio.
In my defence, tying up loose ends and dealing crippling blows to our enemies' plans is Just. So. Satisfying

Random thought:
We have a dracolich without a proper dragon body, we have a dead aspect of Tiamat and we have Lya.
Am I the only one who sees something great coming out of it, even if it's an absolutely and vividly horrible idea?

I have a Lich. A have a God-corpse. Boom! Badass Lich-corpse!

Also, there's Yss to help out getting Amrelath reborn.

@Goldfish @TotallyNotEvil @Artemis1992

We could ask the soldiers what other mages are here. We know about the two Essarian clerics, but Illyrio obviously has more. For example, finding out if the Blackfyre is here, finding out if Illyrio has his own pet wizards or archivists, etc. Info-gathering seems pretty vital right about now.
Speaking of fAegon, what are we going to do if we capture him?

Whoo boy, do stupid ideas just keep coming now that I'm trying to fall asleep at 06.03...
So, we'll be getting a quite big, chunky reward from Old Gods once the whole Doomblob debacle is dealt with. And not only by oversacrificing to them, but as an ending to a questline that included dealing with, what, cr-20 creature?
My point is, we can ask a lot.
A full wish power level at least, it certainly seems to me.

So, we should ask for copies of all texts Maesters have in... Wherever they keep all their knowledge, I have little to no knowledge of asoiaf lore.
I mean, not only will that undoubtedly push our library straight into 21/20 but will also be the greatest wedding gift to Lya ever.
Like, what can compare to such a wealth of knowledge?

Speaking of fAegon, what are we going to do if we capture him?

Magic-DNA test. And if that doesn't convince him, then tell him that we're not restoring the Targaryen crown,we're re-conquering the continent.

And if that fails, and we've checked he's not kin.. kill him.

Slim chance of sticking him at the wall if he's strong, but since he's almost certainly a Tiamat slave, killing seems most likely.

Edit: @tarrangar I was under the impression he's just some random dude that was told he was Rhegar's son?

Turtle him and leave him in Smoky Confinement until we're not too busy to deal with him. We're not sacrificing him even if he deserves it since that way leads to Dany drama. If he deserves sacrifice we'll just kill him and be done with it.

This sounds good to me.

He's not even in on the con, I'm rather sure he genuinely believes himself to be Aegon, son of Rhaegar and Elia.

It seems wholly cruel to punish him for something he had no real hand in, as if he is to blame for the machinations and manipulations if Varys and Illyrio. Heck, even Jon Connington believes him to be the real deal.

No time will pass for him while affected by Smoky Confinement. We can let him out in a hundred years and he can have a relatively normal childhood, enjoying all the benefits of our Glorious Extraplanar Empire.

We're not going to execute him out of hand, but we're also not ruling out the possibility. Depending on what he's been up to as a Tiamat Cleric (like the Shade apocalypse stunt we saw in Pentos) there's a very high chance he's earned death. Either way, Smoky Confinement is a good solution until we have the time to devote the proper attention to this.

If he's a cleric of Tiamat, remember in the books Varys and Illyrio tried to raise him to be the perfect king, and a servant of Tiamat runs contradictory to that.

Would he want to be trapped for a hundred years, even if to him it'd be but moments? Would you? It's idle cruelty and for no real reason, I feel.

Er, where's it said that he's a Tiamat Cleric? He should be with Jon Connington and co. right now, supposedly on the run and learning how to rule.

It's the least troublesome option for us, without doing him any physical or mental harm, beyond the shock of waking up in a Utopia, without Tiamat breathing down his neck to slaughter us all.

If the options amounted to sacrificing me, murdering me, mindwiping me, turning me into a statue, or putting me in magical stasis, from which I can be removed at a later date and effectively have no time pass for me, I know which option I would pick.

Make no mistake, the odds of us leaving him to his own devices are extraordinarily slim.

Smoky Confinement imprisonment isn't to be needlessly cruel, it is because if it would impractical to convert him into a useful asset, but still too distasteful to murder him (likely scenario, honestly), imprisoning him in the closest equivalent to stasis is the most merciful thing we can reasonably do.

Though I was thinking more on the order of years than centuries. That seems a little excessive.

You forgot the option of simply turning a enemy into an asset.

It's an issue we can revisit in a decade.

I mean it's always possible that in the intervening period before Tiamat went haring off searching for them, and of course afterward, that JonCon and YGriff have become PCs in this rising age of magic. Both are from ancient and noble lines... well, after a fashion, in one's case. So both would have had higher likelihood to awaken to magic at great need (they were living in exile and the world was starting to crawl with gribblies).

I doubt JonCon would treat demons of Tiamat as anything else but what they obviously are. Enemies and threats to his charge. And YG is the youthful brand of LG nonsense that Waymar started out as, arrogant and self assured that JonCon is right in his assessment.

Chances are if they're in Tiamat's camp, it's reticently.

Though I'm only saying this because it would be easier if he was a Tiamat worshiper, not harder. We could just kill them if that was the case.

We're gonna need more votes than this for a consensus, folks.

  • [X] Ask to be escorted to the serjeant. Although we cannot share the contents of the message, it is much too urgent to wait until morning. Ser Mudd will simply have to content himself with doing his duty, even in the wee hours of the night. Ask one of the men to escort you to the serjeant's location. We're willing to take whatever heat comes their way for waking him.
-[X] Bluff the sellswords, expessing our extreme discomfort with magic and our desire to be done with this task so that we can get back to deal with normal people, not enchanters and conjurers. Ask if there are any of those types about, as you would rather avoid them if at all possible.
-[X] If pressed on the contents of the message, tell them we have been ensorcelled in some manner, so as to only reveal the information when we hear a passphrase which we don't know. Act uncomfortable with this state of affairs, and eager to pass on the message so that we can be free of the magic. Hopefully Serjeant Mudd will be able to lead us to someone able to receive the message.
-[X] Trust Dany, Lya, and Aradia to trail us, using stealth and magic.
[X] Thank the men for the help, you'll go out for a moment
-[X] Bloodwish for Xorn Movement, go straight down to Illyrio , tracking him by wayfinder.
-[X] If he's alone Polymorph him and teleport out with anything important-looking or magical in the room, if not assess situation.
