Heh. Can't say I'm happy with the outcome of that vote myself.

@Azel I like your phrasing on the new vote but I find it lacking in substance. We decline material rewards, reveal that we're a ruler in our own right (of an unspecified realm), and say all we want is friendship. Which we should already have, though I understand that stressing it carries different connotations. But what form is that friendship going to take, other than not being an outright alliance? This feels like we're deferring any real decisions to the next vote... again.
Thing is that I would vastly prefer to see her reaction to that request before going on. We still know next to nothing from her. Personality, ressources, political standing, agenda, culture...

I really like the idea from @Tomcost, but I think we are going ahead of ourselves by proposing that right this second.

Edit: Amending plan with conditional statements and offers. Please stand by.

I'm fine with stretching this out, I guess. If we're turning it into real formal negotiations of our future relationship, anyway.

That's the only thing that really interests me. Gold can be gotten by... goin' out and killin' shit, or stealing it from people who have too much gold and not enough ways to hold onto it.

Magic items? Better to just make our own. They're a large time investment and rarely actually have everything we want on them as-is, usually necessitating quests to de-curse them, power them up, etc.

But another regular income source, maybe with payment rendered in magical reagents? Neat, and cost effective. With added political bonuses.

Also, asking for friendship while still being unwilling to reveal where we come from is pretty contradictory.

"We want to be friends, but we're not going to extend what you'd consider to be basic trust."

[X] Plan Politics
-[X] "Those are grand prizes you offer Lady Zanira, yet I must say that I have hoped for something less physical then arms and precious gemstones."
-[X] "I apologize for the thinly veiled deception of naming myself just a trader, yet it is the truth, if only part of it. It saddens me to keep my realm hidden, yet it is beset by enemies and secrecy our best shield from adding more to that count, like the Brazen Throne and the Sultans greedy lickspittles."
-[X] "Friendship is what I seek the most in these lands. Not an alliance, for I do not dare to even presume that a single deed might be able to forge such close ties, but from my travel with your daughter, I feel that there is much to gain for both of our houses, if we would not part ways like strangers paying each other for services rendered."
-[X] If she is generally receptive to the idea and seems willing to talk about trade, offer from this list, depending on what looks the most promising.
--[X] General trade deals with the Xorn as intermediate. You have a mix of trade goods with you, if she wants to sample the wares.
--[X] Opening a mine or similar resource extraction operation as a joint venture. You would offer the labor and take care of the distribution on your end, but need local expertise to set everything up.
--[X] If she is uninterested in such dealings, you would greatly appreciate if she could get you in contact with others. Especially a curse breaker, given that you have slain your fair share of fiends.

Another thing we could offer is the MS portal, but that's pretty much a military thing and should better be talked about with the Sultana or one of her generals.

Speaking of the the portal - we should go there, with escort for a half a day, or screw it, 20 minutes and have lya go wild with the fabricate and Dany and Mael... (damm, I can't keep his name in my head!) go out with the greater stone-shape and stone shapes and get all of the obsidian that we can. Or just planeshift + HHD + strength buffs and forget the portal.

FFS, Realth salt incoming: If not for relath, we probably would have gone for air!

I want to put an action into mass-importing dragonglass at the earliest possible convenience. Enough to arm the Night's Watch, several legions, and for Lya to make several obsidian golems when her CL is high enough. I think Fabricating gigantic blocks of the stuff then shrinking it should do the trick.

About the mirror to Molten Skies. We should let Lya test it first. She may be able to replicate the effect, get it to extend the duration or even to change how it works instead of 3 days each month as the moon wanes. Also ensure that it won't be dangerous when planeshifting.

Edit: Missed the vote by minutes

I'm with @BeepSmile. Just Plane Shift in, grab as much obsidian as fully buffed HHD Viserys can carry (somewhere around 100 tons) and Plane Shift out before anybody notices.

Telling Zamira also makes sense: presumably she then carries that info to the Sultana/military, cementing our newfound friendship (because she gets a lot of the credit). That would make our new relationship with House Ajhar very strong.

The question is whether we want a relationship with just House Ajhar, or if we want them to be only our first ally here and are angling for favor with other factions.

I'm disinclined to pull a Doran and waffle around while searching for alternatives. Better go all-in with House Ajhar then wasting goodwill by dragging our feet.

We would think much differently about the Dornish without Doran constantly double-checking and going to Volantis for magic.

"That's odd..."

"What? You have found them?! Where? Robbing a caravan of merchants? Plundering a hallowed tomb lost in the wastes? Cutting a deal with blasted dissidents? Where are they that we may STRIKE UPON THEM, at their most vulnerable?"

"Well--qualifier of "most vulnerable" isn't easy to get actionable answers out of common or uncommon divination. Especially with these sorts--but..."

"What is it?!"

"They're collecting obsidian into large blocks."

"And then?!"

"That's it. Then they leave."

":jackiechan:"

"Truly a elaborate, dangerous game they play, these Targaryens."

Yeah, nothing stops us from getting so me hundreds of tonns of obsidian and then selling this portal as a strategic asset to Sultan.
Preferential treatment to our trading ventures will be just enough of a price, methinks $_$

Yes, I would love literal tonnes of doctors. :V

Marids already know about our plane, why are we fucking around and hiding something that is going to get out sooner rather than later?

"It's raining men!

And women!

Specifically doctor men and women!

They're killing people when they land on them!

Yeah, well, at least it's a bit ironic"

We've talked about it to death. Common consensus is that the vast majority of us accept and are prepared for the day when interplanar affairs regular include the Material Plane, without much we can do to prevent it from occurring.

We'd just like to have to put off staring that reality in the face any sooner or with as much variance and frequency, until we've conquered up a big enough polity that we can adequately react to these threats, while still making time for expansion, adventuring and research.

So, our carry capacity with Ant Haul and Bull's Strength is 35 metric tons.

We could carry 70,000 lbs of dragonglass back to Sorcerer's Deep on a single trip on our own. And to top that off, we can have Minotaurs tag along as grunts to get a bit of extra dragonglass just for good measure.

An obsidian golem, when Lya has the required CL of 15 to make them, needs 2,500 lbs of obsidian to be crafted, and overall would cost 13,000 IM to craft (9,750 with Extraordinary Artisan). I'm thinking we can hope for at least one of these things for every occupied Night's Watch castle? By the time Lya gets to CL 15 we'll be even more filthy rich than we already are.

In any case, these will be a nasty surprise for the Others.

We should also look into ranged weaponry with obsidian. The Others have an Air domain, the Night's Watch need to be able to hit them up there without relying solely on dragonglass arrows.

EDIT: Obsidian grenades would be great... especially ones that home in on death magic.

I still think it safer to not go to the obsidian mine personally. The most likely divination the city of brass is using against us would be "Is Viserys Targaryen going to be in Molten Skies this month?" (Repeat question about the Plane of Earth and Plane of Fire. Then ask about the "companions of Viserys Targaryen." Then repeat for the next month). The answer would be no, even if we sent our workers to gather more obsidian, because they're not us, nor are they our companions.

But we'd only need a few minutes at most. And getting the obsidian en mass is pretty urgent overall. We should at least fire off some divinations of our own asking if we'll be overwhelmed the second we get there.

See, the nice thing about having devils as your enemy is that you can do whatever to them. And safety is the enemy of loot.

@Diomedon nothing stopping a question of "does Viserys have people working on his behalf in MS or any equivelent.

So it would be safer overall to send viserys and party. Imo. Also much faster ;)

To say nothing of more XP and loot by killing whatever they send after us. :D
