So, I'm about to make a hypocrite of myself. It's for a good cause, though!

I've been steadfastly against allowing any knowledge of our origin on the Material Plane, or how to reach it, to spread beyond those who already possess that information. On further thought, however, I believe we have been presented with as good an opportunity as we may ever have to use that information constructively and to our benefit.

There are already extraplanar powers that are aware the Plane of Balance is once more open for business; the Efreet (most likely known to at least the Bey and Sultan), the Marid (for sure, but they no longer have much in the way of centralized power, so dissemination of the info is unlikely), Hell, and the Abyss. We seem to be getting ready to get an introduction to some VIPs in Shaitan society who are in position to reward us handsomely and to potentially help us in several ways. We could buy a metric fuckton of goodwill and good old hard currency with knowledge that isn't going to remain obscured for very much longer.

And the Shaitan are by far the most benign powers we have encountered who could use the information. They are pervasive slavers, but as we've already seen, they aren't extraplanar conquerors who carry out slave raids.

I'd prefer Air for what you're talking about from what I understand of it, but the is no way we are going to keep this a secret from whomever we are going to end up speaking to. So yeah, provided we take pains to avoid screwing over the Xorn, we might as well get what we can.

Considering that the ark floats, I'm kinda worried that it is precious to the air genies. That would suck. I'd prefer Air to earth. Not that I care as a player, earth is probably better suited for construction which I like, but air is non-slaver, which is better for party dynamics.

If that 'needs to win soon' for the war with fire is true, that ark may transport an air genie ambassador/bride/groom.

I doubt the Shaitan have done anything to make enemies of the Djinn. As part of their war efforts against the Efreet, they've established diplomatic relations with powers in the Plane of Water, so they're probably trying to do the same with the Plane of Air. My current theory is that the ark contains a diplomat or other VIP from the Plane of Air come to discuss something of import with the Shaitain.

If that's true, we really jumped a few ranks on the "My interplanar shitlist" of the Sultan ...

I hadn't considered that. I seriously hope so, that would give us an in with air too. We'll have to see.

Hopefully this type of slavery will serve as an immune booster so that certain party members dont fly off in a crusade at the drop of a hat any time someone screams 'Slavery!'.

Also the djinn are the most likely of the four to accept "I didn't know, but it seemed like a good idea at the time" as a response to some misdeed. More likely to settle out by giving us a quest, almost certainly to kill something... which we can then proceed to loot.

That's more of a mark of friendship, honestly... I'd love whoever pointed me in the direction of living loot.

@DragonParadox Not a ton of voters this morning, but I think we have a consensus.

-[X] We would like to learn something of the history of the Peerless Empire, including how they came to be sworn enemies of the vile Efreet, and the course of the war between the two powers.
-[X] We would also learn all they can teach us of their magic, especially that which allows them to manipulate stone with such prowess. Building great works from the bones of the Earth has become one of our chief endeavors of late and any insights they could offer would be appreciated.
-[X] Unfortunately, our knowledge pertaining to the Plane of Earth is quite limited. Anything the Shaitan can share with us of common threats native to the Plane, such as monsters or unusual phenomenon that could harm the unprepared, could contribute to our continued survival. A living ally is of much greater use than a dead one, after all.
-[X] As explorers and traders, we have come to appreciate how greatly customs can differ between peoples, and how what can be of great value in one locale is little more than trash in another. Although they have already shared some knowledge of their laws with us, we would be most interested in learning common social practices so as to avoid inadvertently giving offense, and what types of goods are most valued in the Peerless Empire, so that we both might profit from our new friendship. Just as importantly, it is important to know what is considered contraband to avoid accidental law breaking.

@Goldfish @Azel @Diomedon, just wanted check in for this, but after Leila finishes crafting the Amulets of PfE and the Belts of Healing, are there any objections to her making three or four corpse-ferrying bags? 200 IM each, 20 lbs weight, 300 lbs carrying capacity, and perfectly preserves any corpse inside. I think it's a bargain.

Mindflayer is <300lbs. What else are we going to turtle kill in this weight range?

The corpse-preserving factor is really just a nice benefit if they need to preserve anyone for us to raise from the dead. The other part is that it's just a nice discount Bag of Holding to hand out to our party members and baby adventurers who get sent off on missions.

As an example, this 300 lbs weight limit? That's 50 lbs more than the one we've got. This would, believe it or not, be an upgrade.

I want to make a Type IV Bag of Holding that has a weight limit of 1500 lbs for Viserys, but the Corpse-Ferrying Bag just seems like a really cheap and convenient item to give to our PCs.

As a note:

Corpse-Ferrying Bag:
Cost 200 IM
Capacity 300 lbs

Type I Bag of Holding
Cost 250 IM
Capacity 250 lbs

The Corpse-Ferrying Bag is really just better in every conceivable way on the lower levels of this.

Click.
That was the sound of the cent dropping. Was totally focused on the 'preservation' part.

Requires the Secret Chest spell and a minimum caster level of 9th.
