Making me write my own suggestion up as a vote? Whaaat?!

Well fine. :V

It'll be a minute, I'm eating right this second. Anywhere we want to steer the conversation towards?
Them providing us either a guide or at least general directions and warnings, what types of goods we can expect to find in the Opaline Vault to get that information IC. Oh, and the matter of what's to be done with the Iron Giants. I want at least one of those things as a trophy.

Ask about the laws and taboos and consequences and advice for a group of first time visitors.

Contextual info from someone well predisposed to us.

It's basically telling a race of conquerors and slavers about a new place to harvest from. They'd grab an opportunity like that by the throat if we were careless enough to give it to them. And then we get a rumor about the population of an entire Free City just vanishing, and our divinations on the subject would be the source of oceans of salt.

Something to keep in mind: shaitans are not efreeti. They prefer those who willingly sell themselves into slavery and moreover prefer to educate their slaves to be content with their lot, even going so far as to make it difficult but possible for the greatest malcontents who might actually be leaders of dissent, to simply buy their freedom. They would not just enslave a city worth of people to get warm bodies.

Oh, yes. @Diomedon, asking about the laws is a must.

I'm still very invested in keeping them off our plane.

And that aside, there's also the problem of anyone who gets the location of Prime Material can then sell said location to others. I remember that back when we had the salt over Aberi choosing to cosy up to Cersei, you teased us by saying that there was nothing stopping Sher from selling her knowledge of Prime Material. I'd prefer not to have too much of that particular problem.

One thing we have to keep in mind when getting a rez.

One is not enough. Oberyn and Doran have really reallu not thought this bringing back Ella thing through - and you can tell because they said nothing about her children.

So we should ask for two wishes if we can get them, so that we have one for Ella and then, when she asks for her kids, we can offer life to her elder child.

And then, if she chooses not to, we have a wish - hopefully we can get them in gem form so we don't need to bring Ella, Doran and Oberyn to earth, but if not, might as well get 25k of enchanted items out of it... Or a stat boost.

@DragonParadox - would it be possible for a genie to provide a wish in gem form, or do they need to be presente for the wish.

Much more importantly: can this function of wish:

"
  • Undo misfortune. A wish can undo a single recent event. The wish forces a reroll of any roll made within the last round (including your last turn). Reality reshapes itself to accommodate the new result. For example, a wish could undo an opponent's successful save, a foe's successful critical hit (either the attack roll or the critical roll), a friend's failed save, and so on. The reroll, however, may be as bad as or worse than the original roll. An unwilling target gets a Will save to negate the effect, and spell resistance(if any) applies."
Grab someone back from oblivion if they failed whatever needed save and pass it on the re-roll?

I don't like implying we are from Molten Skies for a series of reasons. First of all It's kind of a planar slum, which might invite some arrogant nobles to trod all over us and we all know how that ends.

Second it might make the most paranoid ones think of the possible connections to Brass. Or to ask us to do or answer things we can't.

And soon the jig will be up and we lose a ton of cred.

I'm going to say this right now, genies despise giving or selling wishes to mortals. Any goodwill we've gained would go right out the window with such a request. :o

The Bey of Beggars already has an info-source and I suspect that Relath could, with Breathtaker's help contact other planes too.
Never mind the large amount of Demons, Devils, Ilithids and various gods that know where we are.

That ship has sailed long, long ago.
I'm sure info on the Material is still rare and valuable, but far from unique by now.

Here's a rough draft. Implying that we originate in the PoMS without saying so outright, and that our ignorance is due to a low beginning, again without actually saying so.

[X] Admit that you only recently came into your power, as those things go, and that your education on other planes is...incomplete. With your power, you had been enjoying success in your trading back in the bazaar, acquiring things you had never even dreamed of owning before, but things had grown more difficult for you lately.
-[X] You had angered a minor efreeti noble who was surprisingly well connected in the City of Brass, limiting your options in resolving the dispute. Fortunately, you previously had helped the Xorn gain a new trading partner when they had run afoul of one of your own enemies, after you crushed him, and had gained contacts here. So you have been trying to strengthen ties in the Plane of Earth and learn about it as best you can just in case it became untenable in the bazaar.
-[X] You would appreciate general directions, advice and warnings, and information about the laws of the Opaline Vault.

I'm actually kind of eager for those arrogant nobles to try to trod on us. Anyone who tries to do that to a powerful sorcerer and his party is obviously brain dead. We should buy a book of laws for Malarys to go over to see how we can legally screw those people over without drawing the ire of the city.

Maybe admit that the minor noble ran crying to his more influential cousin after we killed his guard and nearly him?

Edited in that the noble was surprisingly well connected, limiting our options in settling the dispute. Implying that we normally could handle the ire of a minor noble, but the big fish he's friends with are causing us real issues, which I think is a fairly adequate summary.

I don't like either Diomedon's or the full truth.

[X] We are from elsewhere, just recently we've begun to explore the wonders of the Plane of Earth.

All but telling them we are from MS will be seen as lying. Bad rep.

Seriously, can we please not?

Because the jig will be up sooner or later. And then we will loose a ton of cred that we just earned.

It's bad business, to be known as deceiver.

@TotallyNotEvil, read @Diomedon's vote carefully.

Where in here do we say anything about being from Molten Skies? Telling them that we've traded in the Bazaar is hardly "all but telling them we're from Molten Skies".

Openly declining to answer is also valid. It's still a deception if we're misleading/misdirecting them without actually lying.

Slight polishing on TNE's alternative

[] I would prefer not to say exactly where, but we are from elsewhere, and just recently we've begun to explore the wonders of the Plane of Earth. This is the first time I've ventured beyond the enclaves of my contacts here, and have not yet purchased a proper map, since this was just a short trip.

I'm also fine with this. But in this case, mentioning that we've traded in Molten Skies wouldn't even be misdirecting, really. We're interplanar traders. Do we assume that every trader is from the last city they frequented?

His vote is all but saying we are from there. Yeah, not technically stating it, but deception =/= lying.

That is a very bad opening move for a situation like this.

@Diomedon, I'm not really invested in fighting TNE over this, and it accomplishes the same as your original vote anyway. Thanks for writing both of them up for us.
