Have you thought about the possibility of this thing being there to spring the ambush before the important illithids come out of the water?

There is no need to defeat it now and break the surprise, the villagers are now protected.

How about if we wait until they hit the wards?

I'm torn.

Artemis is wasting spells and overcommits us towards the blimp.
TNE is wasting time and sending a dangerously weak party against the blimp.

The thing is...

They know, that we know that they are coming, so they send the blimp.
We know, that they know, that we know they are coming, so we consider the blimp and wait for the actual attack.
They know, that we know, that they know, that we know, that they are coming, so the blimp is the actual attack and they can lean back while the waffle around and it wins them the fight.
We know, that they know, that we know, that they know, that we know, that they are coming, so we do a alpha-strike against the blimp.
They know, that we know, that they know, that we know, that they know, that we know, that they are coming, so they spring the actual attack while we waffle around with the blimp.
We know...

Ad nauseum.

It's not quite that bad, neither side has real-time divination.

Just try to see at which point does the average human's head explodes and then use that as the actual assumption, so that we decide from that.

Point should be:

The blimp is not going to be less lethal by just attacking it with a reduced party. Its lethality is the same if we attack now or later.

What we must measure is our party's lethality if we split it. And, frankly, if Viserys is not there to give Haste to Richard, our damage output suffers a lot.

That's actually just the "what might they think?" game. No divination necessary.

That being said, that's the sane and sober game and not one of the more outlandish theorys.

Like that the blimp is actually a cleverly disguised Lannister warship with valyrian doomsday weapons.

Or that the next update will be a 500 ft. tall Robert Baratheon coming out of the water, taking a bite out of the blimp and laughing at us.
Cue Viserys realizing that something is wrong and this isn't real.
Cue us learning that Viserys and Dany live on the streets of Braavos, Viserys is slowly dying from the same sickness as Ser Darry and the entire quest was just a elaborate fever dream.
Cue us learning that Dany desperately tried to keep her brother alive for weeks while he slowly slipped away from sanity, mumbling about being a dragon, becoming pirate king and decorating trees with squid.
Cue Viserys dying while Dany cries over him.
Cue Dany coughing mysteriously, indicating she catched the same sickness and will soon die alone on the street.
Cue the entire thread collapsing into a rift to the Plane of Salt.
And then we all where Dessicators.

THE END

Exposing such an asset like this is simply stupid. If it is so awesome, then the Illithids won't risk it, even for a double bluff, because either way we will attack it first.

This was really depressing, but I'll save this quote for future use:

Goddamnit an hour late to the vote...
Only one of you commented on village being in danger of being wiped by wave. I thought it was obvious.
Well, there goes the village me thinks.
