Why not send someone to evacuate the villagers further inland? Have them flee as quickly as they can, as there's nothing they can do to fight the flying monster. That should get them out of our hair for a while and we can wait a little while longer before engaging the thing.

@DragonParadox - what's the difficulty (mishap) for teleporting to a point in sight (back of the Leviathan).

@all - the Leviathan is what we see currently, still, there may be a force under the sea waiting for us to commit.

@DragonParadox There are two versions of Stalwart Pact, one from the Races of Destiny and Complete Divine books which costs 250 XP and one from the Spell Compendium which costs 250 gp worth of incense to cast. The version which costs XP provides twice as many temporary HP and double the luck bonus compared to the Spell Compendium version.

Which version would you let us use? The weaker version would still be great.

I'm going with the races of destiny one because Dany does not have god proper so using up part of her inherent spiritual power makes more sense.

I say that we tell teh villagers to get the fuck away.

This thing is a tank. And, like any tank, it is there to take punishment while the DPS do their thing.

So what do we do?

We ignore the fuck out of it, and ruin their strategy

I have honestly no real idea what to do.

Taking this thing with prior knowledge would have been a tough and interesting challenge, but right now it just invalidates a decent chunk of our preparations while we have no real way to deal with it or tactical information about its capabilities to make a informed choice.

We can just guess and hope.

It pays to keep in mind other powers have access to mid-level divination too. How many times did you guys ask Yss if you can take a fight or not?

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have blinked at a CR 15 beast coming with them. That had to be expected with the amount of murder we stacked up.

But this specifically screws our preparations and we have no idea what's going on.

We don't know what it's psychic attack is supposed to do. Could be anything from psychic radar over sleep to mindcontrol or instant-death.

We don't know if it's just a attack monster or something else. Could be a homing beacon for Planeshift. Could be a troup transport.

We don't know if it's the main attack or a diversion or a second prong to the underwater forces.

We know literally nothing about what's going on, so it's incredibly hard to make a choice.

[X] Wait.

You could poke it to see what it does, though that would be easier with Vee and her summons.

That said the point of this thing is as much thematic as tactical, you are fighting aberrations, the unknowable horrors of the deep. That sense of dread does not come off if you just know what everything does.

[X] Garin gives himself and Richard Airwalk
-[X] Teleport Viserys, those two and Glyra to a point slightly above the flying creature.
-[X] Sky-Sushi time!
-[X] Stay together, ready to teleport back as soon as the thing is dead or you have to retreat.

[X] Tell the villagers to evacuate, because their minds will be screwed otherwise
-[X] Wait and ambush as planned

@Tomcost Can you add casting Resist Energy (Acid) on everyone to your plan. That's the vibe I'm getting from this thing.

That was too general to be useful. Even if you had access to high level divinations you have to refine the questions to get anything useful.
Couldn't they then have used it to ask how to better arrange the traps?

We didnt bring Vee the day before because we thought it might hurt her efforts in TD. If it doesn't, there is little sense in her not being here already.

Also, I asked about Firebrand before. While we can't stack firebrands, shouldn't we be able to affect a creature more than once if it's big enough? Maybe one more brand per size category above medium/large?

It might be a distraction guys.
