The Shadow Tower
Eleventh Day of the Third Month 292 AC
The others step back, though not without reluctance and words of greeting that are half encouragement and half warning not to place yourself in danger...now of all times when all the danger should be spent. You give one last look to the complex incantation written in haste upon the parchment before you.
You lift up the dream-wrought gem in one hand and peer into its stormy depths, the final dregs of hesitation still upon you, then with a through you banish the shell of power holding the wild magic leashed. You speak in slow measured tones the time for fear is done. Shados deep as the void and lights brighter then the heart of the sun envelop... a cacophony of broken sorcery loosed upon the wold. The more yous peak the more the gem in your hand begins to
sing: a voice sublime to tame the maelstrom of power, a beacon of unwavering light amidst the chaos.
The shadows about you whisper secrets of the beginning, of being and becoming. For a moment that seems like eternity you feel as if you stand upon a precipice before some unknowable leap your very soul yearns to take... a leap too far. Though you are master of of a power like onto the divine you know also it is doomed to fade.
A roar on ancient rage and long shackled might rings all around you. The ground beneath your feet shakes and the air quivers as fear finds its way back into your thoughts... You almost break the flow of words... you
almost falter. the ancient presence fades, dran back into unquiet slumber by ancient bonds it cannot resist.
The music too gently falls away from the exalted highs, the gem in your hand now little more than mist and vapor as the Tower of Convocations rests gently upon an eddy of primordial shade... yours forevermore.
The first thing you feel on your return to awareness is Dany's draconic form burrowing into your shoulder to ensure you are safe. She had been putting up as much of a brave front as you it seem. Yet now the task is done... and well done it is too. Where once had stood in the sinister presence of the Whispering Gate there now was naught but a man high column of dragonstone perhaps to feet in diameter, unblemished and untouched.
Gained Shadow Tower
Description: This ancient Dragonstone tower rests now in its own sundered shadow, a small world onto itself, from the jagged tip to the lowest depths where once the Whispering Gate stood. Warded by potent magics and containing many secrets the tower is a treasure trove of lost history.
Ability: The tower can be entered by speaking the correct command words before the smooth unblemished man-high plinth of dragonstone that serves as its key. It can only be activated when the plinth rests on solid ground. On activation arcane symbols race across the stone and a shadow as long as the tower would cast were it to stand upon that place stretches out from the pillar. Those who step (or are covered) by this shadow are instantly transported to the Under-hall of the Shadow Tower to an identical plinth. To leave one has merely to speak the command word again. The gates of the tower lead nowhere but to a cold unformed void.
What do you do next?
[] Search the tower
[] Get the others inside
[] Return to Mantarys
OOC: Viserys was one DC 25 will save from going "A GOD AM I" there. The reason I did not tell your guys about that risk is because he did not realize the danger himself until he was past it. Also the dracolitch was within a hairsbreadth of escaping. It had a 30% chance of escaping and the roll was 31 on a d100
