[X] Aran the Fair (Tyroshi)

Can we even make Souls? Or do we just wing-it with any personality variables that came from her clones.
Lya is on track to figuring that out. So far she's spun off bits of her own soul for Arcanums, and then we've been using the Green Dream to get new/old souls for Forge Creatures and Forge Beasts. And we've got a bunch of research pertaining to forging souls into Outsiders and Lya's figured out how to straight up make Fire Elementals which presumably have their own souls (and same thing with the Merling King giving us the lore to make Water Elementals).

Tldr, not yet, but close to it.

Interlude MLIX: To Lands Familiar and Strange
To Lands Familiar and Strange

Fifteenth Day of the Fifth Month 294 AC

Giant's Lance, the Vale

With all the wonders that Valaena Velaryon had seen over the years, from the storm tossed Sea of Jade on which marvels of another age rode, to the realms of water under the light of silver stars to the green veiled depths of Sothoryos where no man had walked you would not think she would find a herd of sheep all that beautiful, and yet as she looked down from Dawnfyre's back upon the emerald pastures dotted with points of fragile white she could not help but think them so. They are mine to keep in trust for the realm, to guard and to make prosperous, mine to watch in peace and in war, a narrow corner of the realm by the grace of the Imperator.

For almost a full day she had done nothing but fly about the lands east to west and north to south, until she could match the names upon the map with the sight of her own eyes. From the low vales where men lived and walked free she climbed to the heights of the tallest mount. The Giant's Lance it was called, though Giants bore no lances, a conceit of the Andal Lords who had come here to carve stars and axes into the flesh of the mountains.

And now the wheel turns again and another sort of foreigner comes to these shores from across the water. Valaena did not fool herself into thinking these folk would see her as anything but a stranger, as fearful to them as her dragon would be to their sheep bleating in alarm as the great winged shadow fell on them. Yet it still hurt a little to come to Heart's Home that would be her home from now on and look upon the weary looks of the servants, shuttered and cold, as though they expected her to deliver some punishment for the treason of their once lords or decree on them some dreadful law from the far places of the realm, from the Dragon Throne.

Well they won't love you for letting the grass grow between your toes, that is for sure, thought the girl as she dove into the books that the former lord and his steward had thankfully left for the taxes and the needs of the estate. There was a lot she could do here; a quarry site that was thought uneconomical due to the difficulty of hauling stone down to the sea could be made accessible with the aid of Titan Tools, high pine woods filled with fine ship timbers could be made available now simply because there was no more war with the clans of the Mountains of the Moon, and judging from the fact that prospectors were working the streams to the north of the Blue Snake River there were probably quite a few lodestones to dig up there for someone who could use diviners to cut out all the stumbling and the guesswork

She pulled on the chord to call for a servant to fetch her accounts of the best prospecting places from the former maester's tower. Minutes dragged by and nothing. She pulled again harder this time. Gods damn it, I have better things to do than run all over the castle looking for papers. I wonder if I could tempt a lar or a house fey to live here.

After what felt like far too long to be waiting on any servant a maid peeked her head around the door and squeaked. "Begging your pardon, my lady. I was just making sure your bed chambers were in order and I did not... that is, well I forgot that I was supossed to answer the bell you see. Lord Corbray had a manservant for all those needs."

"I'm a idiot, I forgot to set the damn keep in order." It was only after these words were past Valaena's lips that she realized she had spoken them aloud. She was half-afraid the maid would be laughing at her, but if anything the woman looked more scared. "Right, not your fault. Is there anyone in this keep or down in the village who knows how to manage the staff here? I don't want to bring a stranger in for it if I do not have to." She offered a smile. "I figure that between myself and Dawnfyre we are plenty strange enough."

Finally... finally an answering smile. "Well, me da's cousin Jon was steward under the old lord before the last. He is getting on in years, but he might be able to set you right for a little while at least, until you can find someone more spry."

"If he is good enough I can see to it that age isn't a problem," Valaena replied absently.

And now she is scared again, she thought, looking at the suddenly wide brown eyes as though she had just proposed a sacrificial ritual at high noon. This was going to take a while, the new Countess of Giant's Lance sighed inwardly.

OOC: Behold random inspiration interlude. It has been a while since we had one of those.

Damn, i just looked at what the tally showed first and not what had the most votes. Will fix later. I'm all written out right now.
That's weird, I thought the tally always put the option with the most votes at the top. Can't recall seeing it do that before.

I know, but she went along the other side of the mountain where it is still wild.

Would you guys mind if we just kept Giant's Lance? It would be no small amount of work to fix that and I really do like how the interlude came out.
Fine by me, and I had enough delegates that I could have flipped that vote. Was just one vote difference anyway.

Also, she should be careful about Corbrays old servants. Might still be cultists among them that we didn't get yet.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, @DragonParadox. A lot of it seems like it could be rejiggered to fit the Fingers without too much trouble, but I liked this one a lot.

EDIT: Cool with me if we keep it like it is.

Given that the Eyrie is going to become a military base, I wonder if Valaena would mind staffing an Inquisition field office in her section of the Giant's Lance? They're already sharing the mountain, after all.

The mountain itself would be under full military control. Her holding is in the major river valley to the north to it. About... 50km or so away from the Eyri.

It's a pretty big chunk of land she is responsible for. Significantly more than she could even fly over in a single day.
