Well yeah, the place is literally filled with servants and other dependents. Didn't you guys want to make it a base for the legion anyway? You can hardly do that if it's rubble.

Anyway good night guys, see you tomorrow, hopefully with enough energy to do those XP calculations.
The thread is rather schizophrenic regarding its plans for castles.

Some people wanted to make it a Legion base. I wanted to Shadow of the Doom the place to turn the stone into something we could blow away with Control Winds. This plan is conveniently nonlethal to low-Fort people like servants if we have flying minions catching the statues so we can decide who to interrogate, who to kill and who to save later.
Unfortunately if Shadow of the Doom causes a collapse inside the Rock, that ruins everything. I was hoping to avoid that by doing it layer by layer, but architectural instability is a bitch and makes even that approach unreliable.

I would prefer just making it a legion base, but ripping out all the gold and stuff first. And all the Lannister heirlooms. We can sell them at auction with a max price of 1 IM.

That would never have worked. People only get petrified in the primary affected area, while the stone is transmuted in a secondary affected area beneath that. So you would always have collapsed the areas beneath the SotD casting, killing anyone within. To say nothing about the logistics of trying to catch stone statues in the middle of hurricane strength winds.

The whole "blow Casterly Rock into the sea" plan always hinged on either evacuating the place beforehand or killing everyone within.

@Goldfish what are the crafting requirements for an Umbral Stalker (other than shapeshifter remains)? I couldn't find it.
15th caster level at a minimum, and that's only for Lya, because DP allows her to bypass the need for a Wish spell due to her having access to the Lifespark Gem and her familiarity with soul-crafting due to her Sage of Creation PRC.

If it were not for those, an Umbral Stalker would have a minimum caster level of 17th and require both Wish and Awaken Construct, which would cost a buttload of XP. This is all because of the Enlightened Construct template which adds so much power and versatility to the Umbral Stalkers.

We could simply make more advanced Umbral Spies with higher HD, which would allow us to increase their Hide skill ranks. It costs an extra 500 IM per +1 HD, however, so the price would increase rapidly for even a small boost, which would in turn impact the number of them we can create. The base models cost 1,150 IM and have 3 HD. If we made advanced models with 6 HD, those would each cost 2,650 IM, but we could get another +6 Hide bonus from that between skill ranks and using the new feat to pick up Skill Focus (Hide).

...I want it all turned into chamberpots.
It's not like we care for gold in our economy much anymore, anyway.
Gold is still valuable just less so, but it's not like there's not a market for gold in the Multiverse, it might only be worth a fifth or less what it used to, but that still mean if the Lannisters vaults contain millions of gold dragons, it still amount to a nice little sum.

Part MMMDCLXXXVI: By Book and Sword

Twentieth Day of the Fourth Month 294 AC

Fane of Flames (Three Daughters): The Inquisition in Lys has been confronted with a strange and terrible arcane phenomenon, a spirit of fire and madness that drove faithful devotees of the Lord of Light to perform acts of arson and ultimately self-immolation. At first the local commissar had suspected a fiend or even a rogue elemental seeking to start a cult. After thorough investigation that culminated with an attempt to burn down parts of local Inquisition headquarters the truth revealed itself to be darker and altogether stranger. The spirit responsible was the phantom of a young woman who had been pressed over thirty years ago to 'prove her devotion to R'hllor' by stepping into the great fire at the heart of the temple. As the sacrifice was neither one of the faithful who embraced their fate, nor a foe offered to their doom, but rather one deceived and coerced into the flames her, faith shattering even as the fire consumed, her she rose again as a vengeful specter waxing in strength with the return of deeper magics.

Many Lyseni Voices are calling for investigations into the pre-Awakening arcane practices of the Red Faith so that no more lives are lost to the sins of the past. The event has caused the first case of a private citizen, the father of one of the victims, suing a temple before the local courts. Given how novel the notion is and how high spirits are running on both sides you suspect this will end up before you in court by the end.

In Memory of Death: Advances in divination and necromancy founded by the Inquisition branch in Volantis have shown promising results in making the interrogation of the dead less cryptic and subjective. A new spell was developed, allowing one to read the memories of a corpse so long as it has a mostly intact brain and has been dead for no more than half an hour to three hours depending on the skill of the caster. Unfortunately, simply restoring a corpse with magic does not serve to allow memories to be extracted, but this is still a boon to investigators all across the Empire.

Lost 20,000 IM (Research Funds)

Lorekepers (Northern Valyria):
A ring of Qarthi agents seeking to infiltrate the Mantarys branch of the Scholarum on the orders of the Most Ancient Guild of Spicers was discovered and dealt with, even managing to turn a profit in the process by confiscating their assets in the Empire. It seems the tighter security measures and information campaigns run over the last few months have born fruit.

Gained 7,500 IM

Wages of Sin (Rhoynar Lands):
In the first instance of systematic corruption in the history of the Inquisition four investigators were arrested in Ny Sar and Golden Fields for using their position to extort companies with the threat of costly inspections and investigations. Thankfully the discovery was made by the guilty party's superiors as part of routine operations and it never became widely known. Arrests and demotions followed according to the gravity of the crimes and the failure to notice them sooner respectively. Still, according the the commissars drafting the report it is only a matter of time until rumors begin to circulate. Local Voices for instance could legally request court records.

How do you wish to respond?

[] Emphasize that the Inquisition swiftly and effectively policed its own

[] Focus on the role of local magistrates and how the Inquisition, for all its fearsome power, is not above the laws of the realm

[] Write in

OOC: That last event rolled could have been a lot worse, but the Inquisition rolled this for a reaction.

I'm not a political man by any stretch of the imagination but I can see a sort of mixture of the two being the best bet.

The Inquisition isn't above the law of course, if they were there would be no reason for them to exist in the first place to enforce it, but at the same time they have duties and responsibilities that the regular guardsman would never have to deal with.

They have policed their own it is true, but it should also be shown that if they don't the law will get its pound of flesh and justice will be served from the outside, by our own hand if need be.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

I highlighted one section that needs attention.

If it is likely to come out anyway, we might as well get in front of the issue and make it obvious we aren't trying to hide the misdeed. Yes, it happened, but the system worked and the malfactors were caught. That's far better than most other governments in Planetos can say.

[X] Emphasize that the Inquisition swiftly and effectively policed its own

So, this is just 'notable' events rolled up, and the "stuff voted on in turnvote", such as establishing Inquisitikn bases, looking for spies, etc. coming next chapter, @DragonParadox?
