My only regret is that we can't fleshforge some additional features onto Bloodfeast.

She would be even greater if she was Advanced. And on fire. And had laser eyes.

We might not be able to do that, but some low level permanency nonsense would work. We could go for for burning gaze and Wreathe of Flames for an approximation of the flaming laser eyes Dino.

Swapping the gaze attack for Out of Sight would be lots of fun though. Imagine a group of poor assholes being charged by a flaming dinosaur, catching on fire, then immediately forgetting why they're burning alive as Bloodfeast blows past them.

For added entertainment, give Soft Strider an item of Anger of the Noonday Sun to use on Bloodfeast. Nothing says hello like setting someone on fire, blinding them, then making them forget how and why it happened. :V

...it feels like we are writing a "this guys did all of this"-story for a dnd session that is supposed to show just how EVUL a random Necromancer guy the party is about to try and kill is.

Is fun.

That better be a high-level party, because any necromancer who can control a burning Dread Sayona Apostle Kyton Allosaurus with a bunch of Daemon grafts is not someone I'd take lightly.

Allosaur girls... that was not what I was expecting to see. And just after my Shadowrun session.

You need a humanoid for Apostle Kyton anyway. However...

Viserys: "Are you two forgetting to mention something?"
Elaheh: "What would that be?"
Qyburn: "I think we included everything relevant in our proposal."
Viserys: "Yes. And the donors for the tissue needed to grow your project..."
Elaheh: "There are no other Kytons in your service."
Qyburn: "And my flesh is uniquely suited to grow specimens slated for transformation into negative energy powered beings. I don't think Lord Bolton would give us the material we need."
Viserys: "Certainly. There are no other reasons for you two to grow a humanoid from tissue samples of you two. None at all. I'm certainly it's also entirely unrelated to Osryx habit of referring to the two of you as his mother and father."
Elaheh and Qyburn: *visible confusion*
From then on, Qyburn had all his creations call him "Dad". It got a being weird with the Necro-Krakens, of course, but such is the price of genius.

  • [X] Send a Herald to negotiate with them generously. You are interested in all they have to offer (including Sand Shaper lore, Sand Ship construction techniques, Sand Worm corpses, guidance to Sand Sea ruins, etc) and will trade in goods and materials they may need for anything they are willing to share. Eventually your infrastructure will reach out in that direction regardless of your current reception, so you might as well treat them as you mean to go on. We will Teleport the Herald and his entourage to the westernmost location we are aware of to shorten its trip to the Great Sand Sea.
-[X] It will carry a Handy Haversack of supplies for Jorar to ease his stay in the Great Sand Sea and facilitate negotiations, including a Banner of Restful Nights, the Desert Veil, a Whispering Brazier, Sending Stone, Plane Shift charm, Teleport charm, and various Alchemical substances. The Herald itself will be equipped with a pair of Sending Stones, a Belt of Repair, a Plane Shift charm, a Teleport Charm, and a trio of Elemental Fire Wyrmlings for support.
--[X] Tentatively talk about starting local oases, and perhaps some irrigation construction/volcanic soil produced in your spare time, so they will have some semi-permanent arable lands. Nomads, for all the fact that there might be cultural ties to their roaming beyond the practical concerns like lack of resources in one area, would all benefit from more reliable sources of food, water and wealth, all of which you can provide directly or indirectly through ongoing trade.
---[X] And if they have some permanent settlements, you can bargain protection from banditry and other threats as well. Leaving a Herald there indefinitely would handle most of those threats. Regardless, that's not a discussion to launch into immediately, but the we can definitely imply it if asked.
----[X] Ultimately, if the Herald believes it possible, it should begin to lay the groundwork to bring the Sand Nomads into the Imperium. They are far from our nominal authority, but that will eventually change and having loyal allies already established in the area will be to our benefit and their own.

Part MMMDCXXX: From Sand to Snow
From Sand to Snow

Twenty Seventh Day of the Second Month 294 AC

After some thought you extend what Dany calls half in jest 'a far protectorate', the kind of agreement you had with He'Nekar before that ancient city was fully integrated in the new Province of Mantarys; favorable trade deals, enchantments suited to the sort of hardscrabble desert life Jorar's letters described, and perhaps protection for any permanent settlements they may have. You assume they would have holy sites at least for the Dothraki, triton tribes, and Free Folk of the Far North had them, and you have always found that even the most determined of travelers hold some places to be closer to their gods than others. All this is borne upon the steel wings of a Herald; a messenger, warrior, and counsel both. Lya had wrought them well.

Perhaps one day soon they would usher the nomads into the Imperium, but for now as the day's light grows brighter towards golden midday you have other matters to attend to.

Lunch with the court is not a common affair, at least not as common as you remember it back in King's Landing. Not only are you and your companions out campaigning often, publicly or in secret, but there is very little work one can actually do with a joint of lamb in one hand and a goblet of Arbor Gold in the other. Oh your mother insists that socializing can ease many hurdles of reign and perhaps she is right, but you have always preferred more structured time with clear agendas. Another mark of your stay in Braavos perhaps where socializing and mingling is usually kept firmly to the evening hours, because 'it would be easier to hide the bodies in the dark' as the old saying goes, not entirely without merit.

Today however is not a day to hold to the habits of one's greater comfort, a friend needs an introduction, or perhaps better to say a reintroduction.

Rina enters among the last, flanked on one side by Dany to show royal support and on the other by Lady Melisandre, because if anyone is likely to take her new nature ill in your realm it is the faithful of the Lord of Light. To your eyes she does not look so different, though her movements are more graceful and more certain all at once, and the air grows heavy not just with winter's chill but the mantle of newborn authority in her wake. If someone is running a five hundred yard dash and decides to jump the last ten it's hardly that exceptional, surely.

Vee had agreed with you utterly, but even she had agreed to be here as a show of solidarity along with most of the companions not otherwise occupied, in spite of her loathing of feasts and court events. While she has grown no more attached to how most people see the world she has come to anticipate them...

Alas that anticipation was not disappointed. The court's air of faintly self-satisfied sophistication shatters like glass in the face of what Rina is, the cold darkness of the North that for ages had heralded the death of crops and the withering of hope, the herald of bleak midwinter. Most of the notables here do not have the words to articulate that instinctive fear, and the few who do, mages, scholars, and spirits, had been warned beforehand, but if Rina is to be able to live her life without being shrouded in glamours and lies, if she is to truly take the fight to the enemy and bring forth Winter's Rebirth, than you will have to explain something of what she is and what she hopes to be. Much as you had with Xor you will now have to recount how the mortal became fey and what that means.

How do you present Rina's reintroduction into the Court?

OOC: One of your Companions turned into a Winter Fey, most people don't know what that is specifically, but eight thousand years of Other inspired myths about the horrors from the Cold North means you guys should probably get the official story in public ahead of the rumors.

The blatant favor of the Old Gods and Melisandre's public friendship should go a long way to soothing most concerns. And of course Viserys' firm endorsement.

I wonder what Brandon would think of her if they meet.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

Would now be a good time to make a show of awarding Rina with the Panoply of the Star Tamer, that really nice artifact armor we looted from Anu-Simung's corpse?
