-[X] Viserys targets the Soul Reaper with a Quickened Chain Dispel spell using Wild Arcana (and has it jump to the Prince as well, just in case he's been affected by some sort of magic), followed by Amber Sarcophagus. If neither his spell or Dany's captured it, he uses Amazing Initiative to activate his Belt of Battle effect to gain a Full-Round Action in order to target the Soul Reaper with another Amber Sarcophagus. If it proves necessary, he uses Celerity to cast Time Stop.
-[X] Dany extricates herself from hiding as a Move Action, casts Assay Spell Resistance, then targets the Soul Reaper with Dimensional Lock using Inspired Spell. If it is not trapped by Viserys' spell, she will use Amazing Initiative plus her Belt of Battle to gain a Full-Round Action in order to target it with a Quickened Chains of Light spell. She cancels her Battlemagic Perception spell to Counterspell anything the Soul Reaper casts as a Free Action.
--[X] If his spell fails to capture the Soul Reaper, but Dany's Chains of Light is successful, in the following round Viserys will cast Assay Spell Resistance them target is with another Amber Sarcophagus.
-[X] Richard draws Oathkeeper, activating the Keen Edge and Align Weapon(Good) effects using his scabbard, and moves to engage the Soul Reaper in melee combat if efforts to capture it fail. He uses Fleet Charge as a Swift Action to attack it, activates Avalanche of Blades to continue attacking, then if necessary uses Amazing Initiative to activate Greater Insightful Strike. If it's still active at this point, he uses his Belt of Battle to gain a Full-Round Action to perform another full attack.

The things we could make out of that corpse...
Yeah, but in his part of Abbadon he is a pseudo-mythic creature with effective rank of 10.
And with Wish and Timestop ready to be cast at full mythic power.

He is (very roughly) as far beyond Ymeri as Ymeri is beyond the Tiamat-avatar we fought.
And of course the real Tiamat is far greater than even that.

*looks back at the thread*
*Way, way back*

Give it about four-five years.
If the quest doesn't die by then, I recon we'd take him.
:V

IDK, I think we'd struggle even with ten Mythic ranks. Now ten Ranks for that extra Mythic Oomph, plus the right Artifacts, and I think we're getting somewhere... in fact most of our god killing will probably be done using artifacts.

The Moon-Pale Maiden is female, IIRC. I'm not sure if she killed the previous Horseman or if she's the original, though.

As for power, obviously we're not ready to face her yet, but that's not going to stop me from dreaming about making neat things out of her corpse when we do finally kill her.

The Moon-Pale Maiden is one form Death shows to the world.
Not the only.

I'm not sure if the Pale Horseperson is currently male or female or something else, but we shouldn't assume knowing that from one face shown, one that is a deliberate disguise to draw people who aren't already daemon-worshipping lunatics into the cults.

Part MMMDLXXXVIII: Upon Time's Bright Edge
Upon Time's Bright Edge

Sixth Day of the Second Month 294 AC

A torrent of twisting and writhing wild magic, fit to unravel all but the strongest enchantments, tears through the air between you and the abomination, fracturing off its dark form and spilling out onto the still sobbing prince, hopefully to undo any spell upon him.

All around you the walls ring like a mournful bell as some unseen ward marks an attempted escape. Now they notice, not when that horror slipped in through the cracks. The exasperation feels distant like a dream from years past, everything is distant for there is only the battle here and now, flame against the Empty Night.

An orb of amber flies from your left hand, the chant familiar upon your lips, but the enemy will not be so lightly undone. The scythe flashes faster than the eye can follow, almost faster than the mind can comprehend, and the sphere of amber is left sliced neatly in half.

Dany is weaving her own magic, bright spark on silver wings against the endless dark. Her words almost seem to be swallowed by the shadows of the room as something sets its will against her, but it is not enough. The incantation rings out loud and true, and bound is the spirit in this place and time, an interloper caught in searching light. Yet when your sister tries to wrap the thing in chains of golden light the thing moves in eerie silence, not as far as the weapon had done a moment before, but fast enough to slip the bonds even as they form.

Again you seek to bind it in amber, again the scythe descends, the spell unmade before it can reach its mark. Another foe would be laughing perhaps, taunting you, but this abomination has not even enough mirth or mockery left in it.

As it descends upon your sister, the poisoned light in its hood growing brighter with each step, you recognize the daemon within and the peril you now face. A olethrodaemon, not the doom of one, a score or a even thousand, but of civilizations. This was not the architect of Sarnor's fall, mortal cruelty and greed were enough to account for that, but it had supped and grown strong upon it, and here and now among the poisoned fruits of its work it was a mighty as any god's herald, though it serves something fouler than even the powers of Abaddon.

Ser Richard rushes forward to protect Dany, Oathkeeper burning with hungry flames, but before even the knight's strides can take him to the for you grasp the threads of time and twist.

Even this thing, this near-god in the heart of its wretched domain, cannot contest your will in this and so the moment stretches. Eighteen heartbeats you have to plan its binding or unmaking. How long Dany's spell can hold it in place after that you can only guess. Your sister is learned in the paths of the dream and skilled in battle magics, but this profane joining is made to pick apart the fraying threats of the world and reveal the gaping void beyond,

How do you face the Doom-Weaver?

OOC: And this is the reason why I did not think I could do the battle justice last night, the being you are fighting here is more than the sum of its parts. I have it epic and mythic feats in theme with its nature. This is not going to be a simple capture, or an easy fight.

Aspects of Death itself, no, she's not the only one. Examples that come to mind are the Merling King and YSs. But in the context of the Daemon Horseman of Death, the Horseman and the Moon-Pale Maiden are one and the same. We've had this confirmed already.

It stands to reason that when you want to kill an enemy who has near deific power in their own realm, the best time to do the job is when they're elsewhere.

That's probably how all of the Horseman-class Daemons have died and been replaced since time immemorial. Otherwise, it's difficult to imagine a Daemon growing strong enough to challenge a Horseman in their own realm.

Damn, that's neat. A CR 20 Daemon hiding inside a CR 19 Soul Reaper.

EDiT: It's Mythic too? Hell yes.

Yes, I mean the Moon-Pale Maiden is one face of the Horseman, not necessarily the only one.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

:???: Why would the Horsemen have more than one face? The Horsemen themselves are just aspects of greater concepts. Do the other Horsemen have multiple aspects?
Because it's easier getting new worshippers if you are some minor death-goddess most people don't know about.

While being the Pale Horseman, Death, oldest of the Four Riders, master of Daemons and ruler of a nice part of Abbaddon only gets you the crazy and the desperate for your cults.

I mean, Death doesn't have to accept prayer, so a little disguise like that can't change the archfiend's nature.

Well, all else aside, this here has potential.
Adamantine Claws (Ex)
Able to tear through stone, an olethrodaemon's claws are treated as though they were adamantine. This ability also allows an olethrodaemon to make use of its burrow speed through stone.
Gotta chunk that part into the forge, using borrow through stone is ability otherwise reserved for Anheks and a few other creatures who are suboptmal bases for our usual Forge-purposes, iirc?

The Daemon is currently incorporeal if he is in a different body.

Unless this is some two-phase boss (would be cool), I doubt we get his corpse even if we win.
